Landon al Cid      The Lantern Festival is one of those universal traditions that seems to pop up wherever there are big high schools with leanings of a certain nature. Alexander Academy is one of those big high schools with leanings of a certain nature, so of course it has a Lantern Festival. It's traditionally held around these months, when school is out and people are heading home to spend time with their families. It isn't 'summer', per se - after all, Galianda's weather is entirely dependent on what Plate you're on, not things like 'rotation' or 'physics' - but Leviathan is summer almost year-round anyway. Warm, sandy beaches; gently-lapping waves; gentle clouds coasting through the sky; the dark nights, lit by Galiandan stars; Leviathan is nothing if not idyllic.

So of course they hold the Lantern Festival here.

There are tons of students out in swimsuits, holding paper lanterns and lighters eagerly. All around, the students are chattering excitedly, cheerfully exchanging gifts and numbers and other things. It's quite a big crowd. Landon al Cid, Prince of Ramuh, is among them. He's dressed in some reasonably conservative swimtrunks of a purple and silver color, watching the waves of the beach roll up and down.
Kyra Hyral     Though not seen very often, Kyra has no problems with putting on a swimsuit and hitting the beach. No stranger to Leviathan or swimming, she stands in a red and white bikini today with a pair of waterproof shorts over top that. She's kept one of her bandoliers with her which looks a little silly but means that she's prepared to bust out with the healing potions if needed. Not that it is such an issue here, right?

The reaction to Kyra's presence is a mixed one: there are people clearly avoiding her. There are others, however, who do not give a damn about Church politics and quite enjoy reading or watching the antics of the Light Warriors, which Kyra features pretty regularly on their blog, Mogtube channel, and Wark.

"-so then I say to the Avian 'That's right, I've got this ship to sell and I need to make it disappear fast.' And that's how we were able to get in to the pirate outpost."
Yuna Kagurazaka Truth be told, Yuna's been meaning to visit Alexander Academy for a while, and hearing about a school festival seems like a good excuse to pop up and get a look and feel for the place. As long as she doesn't have to wear a specific, school-issued swimsuit for the occasion, anyway ...

But looking around at the other students, it doesn't seem like she really needed to worry about that. She's in a green one-piece with a diamond cut-out showing off her belly, and has collected a lantern from wherever they're supplied. She'll have to let someone else light her lantern when the time comes, though.

For now, she's just wandering around and being her usual sunny, friendly self; she's exchanging introductions where they seem to be in order, and just being social generally. This is a HUGELY relaxing change of pace after the previous day's dungeon-crawl with Orphen and others, and the chance to unwind is extremely welcome.

... but just in case something bad is going to happen *anyway*, despite the type of school Alexander Academy is, Elner's floating about high above the festival, keeping a watchful eye on things.
Souji Murasame Souji is present at the festival. However, unlike the other students, Souji sits in a chair on a rock ledge looking over the beach, a glass of wine in one hand and looking over the proceedings with his classically stoic gaze. An ornate paper lantern boat sits on the table beside him, but he is not in a swimsuit. Is he planning to get his suit wet?
Kirikou     The beach is one of the very few places one can tell Kirikou's twin weapons apart. One wears trunks, the other wears trunks and a bikini top. They're both so young that even without the bikini top there'd be nothing distinguishing the little boy from little girl, but there ARE proprieties and social mores to attend to. Of course it's not obvious which of them is Fire and which is Thunder, but at least by convention one can tell boy from girl.

Kirikou himself is wearing trunks, not in the school colours. Apparently he had them from elsewhere. He's also one of the ones who gives no fucks about churches or church politics. Or about the light warriors, for that matter. "Heeeey Kyra!" he grins, looking her over in a way that makes it clear he's trying not to stare inappropriately. "Nice outfit!" he compliments. "I especially like the bandolier. How're you doing?" he asks.
Lyria Mason Lyria Mason is in a swimsuit, it's more correctly she's ditched most of her outfit, the jacket is gone along with everything but the shorts and undersuit which is flat out a swimsuit. Lyria seems quite content after all she is from this plate, this is totally normal for her. One would also see the coiled seprent tatoos on her upper arms and shoulders as well. She's seemingly in a good mood as she come sup on Kyra and tilts her head a moment.

"Kyra hey!"

She does not care about the Church she follows the older ways and honestly after seeing what they did she's questioning things about the Chuch in general. She's very much publicly sticking it out with her friend.

"Kirikou! Hey!"
Auron     It's always good to blend in. Though it's very unlikely Auron would blend in here, even if he was wearing similar attire. He's much older than most of the people here, with enough gray hair to be noticeable. And that scar on his right eye? Yeah, he's very unlikely to blend in.

So he's opted not to go for swimwear. No sense embarrassing himself if he's not going to blend in anyway. Therefore, Auron's here in his usual outfit. Mostly. The collar and shades have been done away with, as has been the case for the past year or so. He doesn't feel the need to hide behind them anymore.

For the time being Auron is staying out of the way, off to the side to avoid the press of the crowd. He hasn't seen anyone he knows here yet, so he's decided to be a wallflower -- er, OBSERVER. That's it, observer. Besides, he does want to see the festival.
Sanary Rondel      Sanary's been getting better about wearing less combat-ready and more casual clothing lately. Sort of. Today, she's even wearing a light yellow t-shirt with a black cartoon canary on it. She's also wearing a standard navy blue one-piece on underneath along with a rope tied around the waist with her trusty old tomahawk attached to it.

It's better than showing up in armor, at least. She's still a little wary of getting too close to the more endowed women, though, and she seems a little bit lost. This is her first time, after all, and trying to navigate through the lanterns and crowds of students is getting a little confusing.

Hearing some familiar voices, however, she starts sidestepping and squeezing past people while raising her voice to try and locate them more easily. "Hey, Kyra! Kilik! You two around h-" And then she nearly walks right into Lyria. She opens her mouth to say something, then pauses.

"... Heeey, Lyria. Er. How's it going?" Awkward.
Landon al Cid      Landon's been greeting people all night. It's the duty of the prince to pretend that you like everyone, to smile all the time, and to offer greetings to all the people at a party, even if you find them personally frustrating. Yuna, Kirikou, Lyria, Auron, Sanary - pretty much everybody gets a nod, a smile, and a "hello, it's a lovely evening, isn't it, how are you faring, I hope to find you well" from the hadsome young Prince.

And then he winds his way over to Souji.

"Evening, Murasame," Landon observes in a manner that's almost casual, almost *cheerful*. You could even believe that Souji hadn't, only a few weeks ago, reminded him that it was his duty to take another man's life, "Lovely night, isn't it? Not going to put a lantern out, hm?"

He hefts his own lantern a bit. "It's bad luck, you know. Well, alright, it's a bit silly, but it's all in good fun, isn't it?"
Soan Sagittarius      This not somethingthat Soan would willing miss for all the gold he owns. Admittedly, he don't own all that much. The thief is there, hardly combat-ready at all, wearing a set of swimsuit trunks, green and black, along with a light T-Shirt that is completely green. For all the time they have been here, he has not gone into the water at all, rather content in drinking a cold soft drink.

Oh no, he's not here for the swimming. He's here for the view. Of course, he's far too mild-mannered looking to really let that show, but the THief is enjoying himself, watching people, drinking drinks and steeling himself.

     Swimsuits. Swimsuits all over.
Cirra Constantine     Cirra Cosntantine abhors large, random gatherings of people. It makes security for the PRince's safety /especially/ difficult. She told Landon as much, Landon went ahead anyways.

The Judge wears a black one piece swimsuit with silver trim in order to fit with the crowd. But her head scans back and forth over the heads of everyone gathered. /Auron/ stands out like a sore thumb, hmn.
Kirikou     Kirikou's being pretty casual and, well, bathing suits aren't really that big of a deal. He just likes to appreciate cute girls, though he's scrupulously avoiding looking like a desperate perv. He's known too many of those to join their ranks, even if he ends up taking it a bit too far in the opposite direction.

"Sanary. Lyria." Kilik greets, friendly enough. He glances at Yuna, not far away. She looks familiar, but not from around here. Not a student. He'd remember her if she was... right? Oh well.

He returns his attention to Sanary and Lyria. There's some definite tension going on here, and he has no idea what that's all about so... break the ice. Not for nothing is Kirikou a class clown. He takes a quick look about, seeking a proper target, then sees one. "Hey." he says, gesturing towards Auron. "Who's the old geek in the coat?" he asks conspiratorially, though his voice is loud enough to carry. And by the look of mischief in his eyes, he knows it.
Dorotea Grahn Number of times Dorotea has been to Leviathan... well, it can't be /zero/, she's been with Alexander Academy for several years. But she doesn't go often, anyway.

But one of the times she does go is for festivals. Because sometimes you just have to.

Dorotea is only in Gigas Class, one year below Behemoth, but she's actually the same age as the senior class; she came to things like 'reading' and 'mathematics' late and, despite her efforts, is a year behind what her age ought to put her at. As a result she tends to hang around that year socially and today is no exception.

Dorotea is wearing a bikini. It is the same bright fire-engine red as her hair... and that her skin would be if she tried this during the day, because Dorotea is pale and has basically zero tan. Fortunately, she gets a pass because of the time. She's not likely to get starburned. It is a good bikini and Dorotea wears it well; she doesn't seem to get embarassed.

She brought a volleyball. She seemed disappointed that she can't get a game going at night. Now she has a lantern instead, the volleyball forgotten off on the beach (she'll remember it later... probably).
Souji Murasame Souji sips his wine, one leg over his knee as he relaxes in his chair with his suit on. When Laondon approaches, he straightens. Even as Landon is cheerful, Souji is respectful to the Prince. He inclines his head to Landon at the greeting. "The night is indeed beautiful." He agrees. "I am not one who believes in luck. But there is plenty of time to do so should I choose to. There is no need to rush out into the middle of this crowd."

There is a pause. "We do many silly things for reasons we do not really understand, do we not? This is just one more to add to the pile. What the first person to do this could really have been thinking when they crafted a little lantern and set it afloat is lost to the flow of time. All that remains is the meaning we choose to assign, tradition or no."
Yuna Kagurazaka "I'm doing great, thanks!" Yuna answers Landon when he greets her, returning the nod by bowing politely to him. And she largely just keeps circulating ... there are a lot of people she hasn't met face-to-face before, so striking up a conversation that goes beyond basic pleasantries is turning out to be a little tricky.

Maybe she ought to actually enroll for some classes here ... ?

Then she spots Auron holding up the absence of a wall, and with a faint grin, Yuna makes her way towards the swordsman. "Hey Auron!" she calls out, waving with her free arm.
Auron     Auron doesn't notice Cirra looking in his direction. His remaining sight is better attuned to seeing movement, and everyone's moving. However, his hearing is actually very good. Notable when he does manage to hear Kirikou's question.

The brow of his remaining eye raises, and he looks in that direction. Just loud enough to be heard, he suggests to Kirikou, "If you were curious, you could ask." Besides that, Auron's actually never been here before. So it's unlikely anyone would be able to answer that question except him.

Though there is one person who can answer Kirikou's question. And she does, by calling out. The sound of his name gets his attention, and he looks in that direction, with a smile when he sees who's spoken. "Hello," he offers. "I didn't expect to see you here."
Landon al Cid      "I suppose that's true. There are quite a few people here. It's always rather crowded," Landon agrees amiably, dancing the dance just as well as he always has. "It's nice, I think. The whole academy coming together and putting aside their troubles, just for a night. It's a lovely tradition. I wish we had more like them on Ramuh, but, well...traditions need time to build, don't they, and they hardy work with such a vast amount of people."

Landon shrugs and laughs. "It'd be nice, though."

He fiddles with his phone for a moment. His face goes a bit red, though whether that's from the lovely ladies all around (Landon appreciates women, too, he's just slightly less...obvious about it) or something on his phone, it's impossible to say.

Landon offers Dorotea a smile and a bow. "Good evening, my lady. How do you fare this fine night? It's such a wonderful night for this festival, after all."
Lyria Mason Lyria Mason has been hacing a good time so far, she's out and about back home. SO what's not to like she sees Sanary and there's no hostiliuty just a grin.

"Hi Sanary glad you could make it."

She seems happy to see her, what's going on? Maybe she hit her head harder than Sanary though? Who knows. She does also grin at the prince.

"Good to see you Landon, and I'm doing quite well."

She's also caught sight of Cirra whom she snaps a photo off with her Mphone before returning back to the converstion with everyone else. It was too good to pass up as Auron comes up she looks sheepish.

"He's an elite with the union if I recall right. Don't worry about him. Unless you got some amusing ideas mmmm?"
Mirielle Edelweiss     There is quite the crowd milling about, oogling each other, and, in general, doing Beachy Things. Lots of beachy things.

There is a little beach hut, and behind it, hidden from most others, is a slip of a girl in a loose shirt, swim trunks, and a sarong around her waist. Mirielle is... not really showing off today, because she has approximately negative things to show off. She's... 'fragile'-looking.

And, as she crouches behind the beach shack and draws a black, wickedly curved dagger over her thumb to drip tiny dribbles of blood into the center of her lantern boat, with a few other choice ingredients, she whispers quietly a few words, and then...

Stows her knife away and picks up her lantern, sucking on her cut thumb.

"Extra luck is always an excellent hedged bet." She murmurs, before moving into the crowd as quickly as she can, to deposit her boat. Her huge glasses hide her eyes and her hair being down may make this social outing not the worst thing ever as...

Oh hey, look, it's the Prince and her New Boss. Right over there. Nope, just... FOCUS ON THE MISSION, MIRIELLE.

FOR ONCE MAYBE SEMPAI NOT NOTICING ME WILL HELP OUT!
Sanary Rondel     Landon gets a brief nod and smile from Sanary as he passes along with a brief looking over, and Kirkou gets the same treatment a moment later after his greeting. Lyria's reaciton is also strangely reassuring to the healer, and she eventually breaks into a relaxed grin in return.

"Thanks. Never been to one of these before, so... Uh." And then her attentions shifts a little lower. Her eye darts from Lyria to Kyra, then to Dorotea and Cirra. There's a bit of a twitch in her eye as she hunches over, crossing her arms over her chest almost defensively. Is she really being outclassed this badly by the Elites at Alexander Academy?!

"I... D-don't fit in here at all, do I?" It's not even that she's necessarily that small or lacking curves, either. Without her usual armor or coat or other non-flattering clothes to hide behind, though, she's just not carrying herself with anything resembling confidence.
Dorotea Grahn Dorotea does not have her phone. Or at least, it's not visible, and if she had it where would she keep it? There's no pockets on that outfit.

Don't actually answer that.

But because of that, she doesn't know who all is around, since she's not getting updates. It's not really a surprise that one of them is Landon, though. As always with everyone, Dorotea is reasonably casual; it's not that she intentionally disrespects Landon so much as, well, they're both students despite what else they might be. Plus, she's the daughter of a warlord too. That's not the same, but it's at least something.

"Hi," she says, with a grin. She actually bows back, matching the gesture but going no deeper. "I didn't know you would stay out here. I thought you'd go back inside afterwards. Good! It's good. It's not so hot when the sun's down." She refrains from thumping Landon on the back, because that might get her arm broken by Cirra.

She glances over at Souji, not that far away. He gets the same kind of slight nod she gives everyone. She'll talk to him when he speaks to her; she tends not to bother him beyond that.
Kirikou     Kirikou COULD have just asked Auron, but that wouldn't have been much of an intervention in the awkwardness between Sanary and Lyria. Fortunately, it seems whatever went on between them has passed, and Kirikou can now relax and enjoy more. "It's a beach, dude. Lose the coat, get yourself a little moon." he says with a teasing grin.

He's a bit surprised when Sanary covers herself, looking around to see if maybe Lute's here making her uncomfortable, or someone LIKE Lute anyways. He can't see anyone obviously leering, so he shrugs it off. "What's wrong?" he asks. "Hey Sanary? I mean, you got nothing to worry about. If you were a vegetable you'd totally be a cutecumber." he grins.
Soan Sagittarius      Observing the 'Stars' is a great part of being here. Of course, the best part WAS earlier in the day when Phoenix was around, with people swimming into the ocean. Soan downs the remains of his soda, keeping his eyes on the wider gathering of people with their lantern, pushing himself off the sand, grabbing his own, spark it alight. It's time to stop admiring the stars from afar and going to talk to them. If such a thing is possible.

Mirielle do get a look on his way here, giving the Calculator an friendly wave, with a friendlier smile. "Hey!" He says, semi-aware of just how creepy she was before coming out in the open, mostly by the fact it's her even if he don't have any complete evidence of the fact. "Mirielle!"
Cirra Constantine     Cirra has nothing to do with Landon's discomfort, ever, really, truely. She puts her phone away. The sabel haired judge looks around again, taking stock of who's in Landon's immediate area. Murasame, despicable, but too intelligent to cause a problem himself. Soan, theif, light warrior. Sanary... Cirra narrows her eyes at that one. Dorotea is maintaining the proper distance, but is a little too casual.

When Mirielle specifically avoids the group it sends up a yellow flag in Cirra's mind and she watches the mousy girl go along her path. Hnn.
Auron     Auron smirks a little at Kirikou's statement. "I didn't see the need in embarrassing myself by showing up in swimwear," he states. With a smirk, he adds teasingly, "No one wants to see that." He is not above a joke at his own expense! Even if he's completely serious.
Sanary Rondel      Even with as self-concious Sanary's feeling, she does snort and start snickering at that awful pun slash attempt to ease her mind. "Dammit, Kilik. That was..." She shakes her head and laughs again before letting her arm down and resting a hand on her hip.

".. Thanks. I needed that. Still, there's a lot of.. Mm." She grunts lightly as if that's enough to make her meaning clearer, glancing around again at men and women alike! Hearing Auron from a distance, she squints a bit before raising a hand in greeting towards the older man.

"Hey, Auron! Come oooon. We've seen hot old guys before!" She laughs again and scans the area again, eventually catching sight of Souji and raising her arm in an even wider wave. "Souji! You should join us, too! For... Er. Whatever!"
Kyra Hyral     "Oh hey Lyria, Sanary." Kyra gives them both an easygoing wave, halting the (puported) story of How She Got a Spaceship with those in earshot. "How's it going, you two? Glad you could join us on this school trip, Sanary." She seems oddly okay with the known Confederate being around. It was school stuff, after all. No issues here, right?

(Though she does seem to be outright avoiding Souji for the reason of things already being awkward enough as they were for her.)

"So have either of you set off a lantern yet? I was about to go do mine."
Landon al Cid      Well, that's. A thing.

Landon does not stare. He is much too polite, and much too well-bred, to stare. He smiles at Dorotea, betraying exactly nothing of what he's thinking thanks to mental discipline and a lifetime of dealing with Cirra. He also offers a beaming smile at Mirielle, and a polite wave.

"Ah, well if I went back inside, I would miss all the lanterns being set to sea, wouldn't I? It's best at night, after all, after Phoenix has left the sky and all we have out are the stars."
Lyria Mason Lyria Mason seems to have let things go, form the looks of it or is putting things aside for another time. Wjho knows but for now there seems to be no bad blood she grins a little bit at Sanary for a moment.

"Nonsense you look good Sanary. I not heard any bad scuttlebutt about you that was bad. Most people are curious about someone from off world."

She moves a hand on to healer's shoulder if she'll let here.

"Come on relax have some fun!"

She looks over to Kirikou for a moment.

"Yes it's nice I'm just glad how calm the water is tonight"

T She looks over to Kyra humming.

"Not yet why don't we do ours together?"
Souji Murasame "Ramuh has no need of such things. We are a people who look towards the future, not wallow in the past." Souji gives a faint, mirthless smile. "I remember that being said before." He stands, then, setting aside his glass. "But there is little to say about such a thing. I have my own reasons for what I do."

There is a dramatic motion of his arm and a whirling of cloth, the air rippling with the noise of fabric snapping through the air... and his suit is in his hand, hanging in the air from a floating hangar. Souji's lean, muscled body is visible, leaving him only wearing a pair of plain black swim trunks... And the blade at his side.

He picks up his lantern, looking towards the beach as he steps forward. Students melt out of the way as he moves, the Murasame heir nodding to Dorotea as she nods to him. Mirielle is also ignored for the moment. How long that will be the case, perhaps depends on that luck she's trying to gain. Sanary gains a glance from Souji. He nods to her. "Miss Rondel. Glad you could join us." He says, simply. "Pardon me, I have something to attend to."

He steps into the water, letting it wash around him as he sinks in to his waist. Gently, he sets the boat out on the water, his eyes closed with solemn gravitas. With a whisper and a flick of a hand, there is a flash of flame within the boat, a sweet smoke curling from within. It is set free, floating out into the middle of the others. He watches silently for several moments, and turns away, walking back up onto the beach, dripping.

There is a flick of his hand and a word, and the water streamd off of him, leaving him dry once more.
Dorotea Grahn Dorotea Grahn is remarkably astute at reading people for someone who comes off as blunt and occasionally thick as she does. She can tell the smile doesn't seem quite authentic - at least not entirely so - but she gives one back anyway.

"Well, that's true," Dorotea agrees. "My sister's over there lighting one, anyway, and probably staring at the rest of them as they go. I figured I'd get mine out last, or near to it. At least after hers." That explains why she's still holding hers.

She hears someone call behind her, a voice vaguely remembered but not really known, to Souji nearby. It's not directed at her but Dorotea half-turns anyway, looking at who it is - Sanary. "Huh," she says to herself. She remembers her as 'the foreign student', but is failing to recall her name.
Landon al Cid      Landon watches Souji's mirthless smile, watches the other man suddenly just change clothes in an instant (equip is a hell of a drug?), and can't help but note that Souji still carries his damn sword. Then again, it's true that this is a dangerous place, even now - the world of Galianda is never really safe, except on Chocobo. Monsters are a fact of life. Even on a day like this, something could come up out of the sea or the sand and attack.

He turns his gaze back to Dorotea. "Oh, you have a sister? Siblings really are..." Landon pauses, choosing his words carefully.

"...something, aren't they?" He decides, with a knowing (and much more honest) smile. It's common knowledge that the al Cid sisters are often described as a hurricane and a half.

"Well, if Murasame's off his rock, perhaps we'd best go join the rest of the party, too. I can see my bodyguard is glowering at you like usual. Perhaps if we're all introduced she'll put on a nice smile?" He laughs and hefts the lantern, heading over to the ocean. Then he sets it in, lighting it with...lighting it. It's probably a lighter or something.

     Probably a lighter.

Then he stands and waves at Cirra with a broad smile. "Come on, aren't you going to get your luck, too?"

The lantern floats away into the ocean, joining the other dozens of lanterns around it. Landon's eyes turn back to it, a satisfied, open smile on his face. Watching them go...watching the hopes of the people mingle together...he really loved this festival, and not just for the 'stars'.
Sanary Rondel      "Y... Yeah! Ah. Holler if you need anything, boss." Definitely too many hot people in one place. Even Souji?! Granted, he's not going to make her feel nearly as self-concious as the other women are, but still.

"Mm.. Things're going alright! A little busy with work and that paper, but... Good enough! How're things on your end, Kyra?" Sanary chuckles lightly and shakes her head at Kyra, glancing around for a second at all the other lanterns surrounding them.

"Not yet. I... Uh. I have no idea how this works, actually. Yeah, doing 'em together sounds like a good plan." She seems oddly relaxed even with the Union presence here, and doesn't even flinch when Lyria' puts a hand on her shoulder. She does seem somewhat confused by her choice of words, though, despite grinning a bit. "Scuttle...? Huh. This world seems so much more interesting, though. More magic, more tech, more..."

She gestures vaguely at all the people. "... Everything. Especialy in-" And then she spots Dorotea again, making eye contact with her before waving. "Hey there!" She smiles lightly while crossing her arms again. Is the healer feeling self-concious again? Probably.
Kyra Hyral     "All things considered, I think things are going very well! Staying busy. That helps a lot, you know? Oh, sure, Lyria. Lemme go get one." Kyra grins to Lyria, pausing as she gives Kilik a wave. "Hey Kilik! Glad you could make it too! This festival clearly could not stand to go on without your awful puns." Her words are spoken playfully. Surely anyone who has spoken to Kilik for more than fifteen minutes would understand. On that one, she disappears for a few moments before returning with a lantern.

Kyra's carefully affixed a DEADM0G sticker to the side. It's also already lit.

"It's easy, Sanary, you just get a lantern, light it, make a wish for the future, then set it in the ocean."
Dorotea Grahn "Little sister," Dorotea explains to Landon. "Sylvi, in the younger classes. You've probably seen her even if you don't remember her; her hair's not so bright as mine." She tugs at one of her brilliant red locks by way of emphasis.

Dorotea remains half-turned for a moment as she looks at Sanary. Right, she'll get that eventually...

Oh, there it is. "Rondel!" she says, with a broad grin. Apparently that casual-ness was for more than just Landon. "I remember you, you were in one of the other classes." That is basically as far as Dorotea's memory on the topic goes. "Welcome to Leviathan," she adds, because Sanary is extraplanar, before adding more quietly, "not that I'm from Leviathan but you get the idea."

She decides to tag along with Landon. Dorotea amuses herself by staring at Cirra for about five seconds, as if she was trying to locate some kind of mirth in her. Either she fails or gives up. She lets everyone else light their lanterns first, still holding hers.
Cirra Constantine     As she's approached, Cirra turns to Landon, "It's terribly cliche, but I make my own luck." She looks back to where Edelweiss went off to. She then turns to look at Dorotea. It's true that while Cirra is working, she tends to be humorless.

She delivers with a perfect flat tone and expression "Another redhead, Prince Landon. Should I call the house ahead of time for you, or would you like to suprise the housekeepers in the morning?"
Landon al Cid      "Cirra!" Landon's face goes red, "Even in jest, that simply isn't funny! *Or* true, might I add!"

"I knew you were mad at me."
Kirikou     Punning is joy. Besides, it got a good smile from the people around him, so Kirikou sees no downside to being called awful. "Wanna hear a joke about pizza?" he asks, grinning playfully. "Never mind. Too cheesy." he tosses out before anyone can ask. Stupid? Yeah, of course. But it's fun, and that's what counts.

Besides, they have lanterns to launch. "One sec." he says, holding up his own unlit lantern. "What do you say, Fire?" he asks, looking at the boy twin. Or at least the twin that appears vaguely to be a boy. "You up for lighting this?" he asks. The boy, frowning, stares at the paper lantern. The frown intensifies, and the boy holds out his hand. His fingers... fuse. Then lengthen and extend, thickening, until where his palm used to be, there sits a little metal pot. One with a huge gaping mouth. It doesn't look quite so much like a gauntlet like this, but still some might recognize the resemblance.

Most Weapons, once sufficiently trained, can transform a part of themselves into a weapon. Deathscythes can do it to multiple points all over their bodies. Fire and Thunder are stronger than most, but definitely not deathscythes. Fire seems satisfied though, and Kirikou reaches out to the boy, clapping him on the shoulder. At the contact, little flames begin to leap out of the pot. It's a few moment's work, but Kirikou's got the lantern lit before long, and is ready to send it on its way.
Dorotea Grahn Dorotea Grahn looks from Landon to Cirra and back again.

That slightly crooked grin comes back. "Eh," she says. "I'll pass. Dunno if it's the right time or place." Does she... get it? She must get it. She wouldn't be grinning that way if she didn't - in fact, she seems about to elbow Landon but decides to keep her elbow to herself because, once again, Cirra is right there.

"Unless you mean there's a /problem/ with my hair, anyway..."
Sanary Rondel     "That's... Not too hard, actually. Hm. When do they kick in?" Sanary's actually asking that completely without a hint of skepticism. Does she actually think the lanterns will work that easily? Considering just how weird stuff in the Multiverse in general... Probably!

"Mm... Oh! Dorotea, right?" It does take her some time to recall the redhead's name, grinning easily as she snags a lantern for herself. "I get you. Leviathan's a pretty interesting place, especially compared to home." She offers Dorotea a quick wave as she heads off with Landon, eventually turning back to face the water with her own lantern.

"What wish, though...? Hm." Even after lighting it, she looks way too focused. "I... Think I'm ready? Er. Whenever you are."
Cirra Constantine     "Of course, Prince Landon." Cirra says crisply as she consider's the other shivan's response.

"Of course there isn't anything wrong with it." Cirra says to to Dorotea, "But I don't think I've seen another Shivan with red hair."
Souji Murasame Souji steps away from the beach, not looking back as he walks back towards hit original seat without another word. He plucks his suit from the floating hangar, and with another flourish, garbs himself again, sitting back down and looking out over the water. He picks up the wine glass, swirling it faintly as he stares quietly into the glittering lights on the water.

Souji seems even more distant than usual this time.
Landon al Cid      Landon coughs politely into his hand, attempting to regain his composure just a bit. Just pretend it's a fancy party! Yes. Just pretend this is a fancy party. A fancy party, where you *have* to flirt a little. It's *requisite*. Even Murasame had to flirt at a party, and Murasame was practically made of rock. Of...of...of anti-flirtanium.

He weighs Dorotea's response thoughtfully. Finally, he decides, "You do look absolutely marvelous, my lady. And your suit is assuredly a credit to your tailor, or the shop you found it in," before turning his gaze back to the lanterns. Back to the lanterns, rolling out to sea. Back to the steady, everpresent beat of the waves, and the music of laughter and people mingling together.

Ramuh was of the future. But was this present so bad that the city had to leave it behind? Was a present full of people laughing together, hoping together, and dreaming together something so pointless?
Dorotea Grahn Dorotea Grahn gives Sanary a slight nod as she heads off with others. She'll probably talk to her again later. Wouldn't do to ignore her.

"My father's is dark red and my mother's is almost white," Dorotea says, before pointing a thumb at Cirra's. "Like yours, but a little brighter." By which she means platinum blonde rather than ash. "I figure I got both and they mixed up. Sylvi's isn't this bright. It's natural though, whatever anyone says. I don't dye it."

Dorotea considers Landon's words. "I bought it out of a shop. I don't really tailor much. You're all right, though," she decides, and this time she /does/ reach to thump him on the shoulder as she moves past, wading into the water to maybe finally light her own lantern. It's a friendly gesture, if a little rough, and she really hopes Cirra realizes that.
Kyra Hyral     "What, the wishes?" Kyra shrugs at Sanary, "I dunno. Tends to be faster if you enable them somehow! But it's not like...literal. Like with the dragonball wishes."

Kyra spends the next few moments groaning at Kilik and his puns despite having expected this kind of reaction from the younger boy. Nonetheless, she does watch with curiosity as one of his Weapons moves to partially transform himself. "...well this is the first time I've seen either of them do something like that." Kyra points out. Kilik and Fire shouldn't be surprised if they're suddenly the subject of nearby student's cell phone pictures.
Mirielle Edelweiss     The intense amount of Noticing certain Sempai happen to do is... Distressing. With her legs all wet from walking her lantern out in the water, and returning to the Prince favoring her with a smile, and a certain Judge herding her over, hemming her in, following her footsteps!

Cirra tasks the Calculator, tasks her with an embarrasing amount of attention, but, well, since she's there, in the Prince's wake now, she is forced to SOCIALIZE. So, head hung and eyes fitted firmly to feet and sand, she mumbles something under her breath about 'the best luck being under' mutter mutter 'and with the proper alignment' muttermuttermutter 'and sealed with a drop of blood'.

She doesn't elucidate on things, but she does have a poorly concealed and bloody knife on her.

"S-so everyone's here, then... for the party? I'll... just... be going now. Heh-heh. I did all that... luck-getting... things."
Lyria Mason Lyria Mason looks oer to Sanary for a moment and sht tilts her head for a moment.

"It's a term for crew rumour mongering on a ship. What can I say I am a Levitani right? It's a very vast world each plate seems to have teh area of some rock ball worlds. So it's like several planets in one in that respect."

She pause at the dread waring that puns are inbound. She also gos to make her own latern ready to set it upon the sea. It's smimple and plain one she's making ready to set down and she looks over to Dorotea and grins.

"Ahoy there."
Cirra Constantine     LAndon is fondly punched in the shoulder by Dorotea, Cirra mearly watches, despite what people think, Cirra is not an unsocialized robot incapable of understanding social norms.

    Most of the time.

Sanary however gets a look that makes the Leviantine air sems a couple degrees cooler. There is a /past incident/ with that one.

And then Cirra sees the knife on Mirielle. But Cirra is paid to protect Landon, not cause scenes around Landon. She steps forward, walking in with the group and ducks her head slightly.

"Next time, leave it where you can get it later."
Landon al Cid      "No, please, Lady Edelweiss; feel free to stay! It's a lovely evening, it'd be a shame to be indoors on a night like this."

Even with Cirra's Shivan ability to make the air colder* (*not actually a Shivan ability), it's still a warm tropical evening. The stars are bright in the sky - the actual stars, *Soan* - and glitter like diamonds set in velvet. And the sea's gentle motions have, almost shockingly for Leviathan, been at a beautiful pace, slowly drawing the lanterns out to sea with a careful beat.

Landon grins at Dorotea as she punches him in the arm. He knows where he stands when a girl is friendly. You don't grow up with the number of sisters Landon has and *not* learn that sort of thing.
Sanary Rondel      "So it's not...? Aw." Sanary sounds a little disappointed by Kyra's response, although not enough to give up on the lantern. She tilts her head slightly while watching Kilik work on lighting his own lantern. "Well, every bit helps for what I need this for. Even if it's not as strong."

Anything to help her morale while trying to get stronger, right? Actually becoming stronger from lightning a lantern with loads of other people doesn't seem all that plausible to Sanary the more she thinks about it, but there's still some small hope!

Turning to Lyria, she chuckles lightly while lighting her own lantern (possibly with the help of another lantern). "Weird name for it, eh? I don't get what scuttling or butts has to do with... Um." Her expression goes a little more blank as she notices Cirra looking her way. It had been a while since that one incident, but she's still just a liiittle intimidated by that LOOK. She raises a hand slowly to offer her an awkward wave. "H.. Hey, Cirra! Wanna... Uh. Join us for the lantern thing?"
Dorotea Grahn Dorotea Grahn's fists are mighty weapons.

Of course, she didn't hit very hard, so no problem.

"Ahoy yourself," Dorotea replies, setting her lantern in the water. She keeps one finger hooked on it so it doesn't go anywhere, as she hasn't actually ignited it yet. "You're the only one from around here, aren't you? Well at least one of us is at home."

She gives Kyra a nod - and Sanary too even though she already said hi. "I guess it's not bad to visit though," she adds, not really grudging the admission.
Lyria Mason Lyria Mason :is in a swimsuit, it's more correctly she's ditched most of her outfit, the jacket is gone along with everything but the shorts and undersuit which is flat out a swimsuit. Lyria seems quite content after all she is from this plate, this is totally normal for her. She's now heading to the water to put her own latern into the water afte rit's been lit.

"Don't ask me I don't know the exact origins of the term and Cirra yes join us!"
Cirra Constantine     "I'll come into the water." Cirra agrees after letting her message to Mirielle sink in. The shivan wades into te water with the rest of the group.
Kyra Hyral     Kyra heads to the water's edge, motioning for Sanary to follow her once she is ready. Kyra stands there, the surf lapping at her ankles as she stares at the other lanterns. If only...if only they were like DBZ wishes.

Kyra whispers something to herself before setting her lantern afloat.
Mirielle Edelweiss     Mirielle frowns lightly, a dark look crossing her eyes, before deciding to bed down on her brows. She doesn't speak, sort of brooding there with her cast look on her face, even as Landon directs words to her. That she doesn't have to go. That she should stay, and enjoy the lantern festival.

    The lantern festival.

The lanterns. She didn't light her lantern.

She was in such a hurry to get it going into the water and leave, she didn't actually light it on fire. She reaches back to draw forth her knife and fix that problem with Sketch Magic when a certain Cirra notes that she should be careful with the knife she has. To which, she murmurs back... "It's not like I could actually hurt anyone here with it. May as well have you leave your laws behind. I need it. For things."

She follows the group out to the water, her hand behind her back, trying to figure out what to do. Maybe if she...

"S-sorry, Prince Landon. I don't really like it... outside. But, if you insist..."

She furtively glances at Cirra, Sanary, and especially Dorotea palling around with the prince, and gives a heaving sigh, letting her hand drift off her spoopy knife to try and foucs on happy things.

Like how she's a total failure at this festival. Some /luck/ she invoked.
Sanary Rondel      As with before, Sanary's not quite sure how to react at first to Cirra actually joining them in the water. Considering the event going on at this beach, though, it couldn't possibly go that badly. Things seemed relaxed enough with her and Lyria earlier, so why not with Cirra, too?

Following Kyra into the water, she presses the lantern against her forehead lightly before shoving it off into the water. "Shouldn't be too hard making this one work, at least."
Dorotea Grahn Greetings delivered, Dorotea lights her lantern -

Actually, she /doesn't/ light her lantern because she realizes she doesn't have a lighter. She leans over it somewhat awkwardly, trying to figure out how she's going to light it on fire. Dorotea knows flaming Blue Magic, of course, but she is pretty sure that punching her lantern until it ignites is both silly and counterproductive. Similarly, trying a fire breath might end up with a rather crispy lantern.

She hisses at Sanary, who is close, "Do you have a lighter?" She didn't think this part through very well.
Soan Sagittarius Soan is not making much waves out of himself, the young thief having retaken his previous spot on the beach, watching people pass by to deposite their lantern for the sea to swallow. His feet get soaked, the Ifriti not daring to go much deeper than that in the ocean.

Dorotea's hiss do catch his attention, even if he is not immediatedly close by.

"Hey! Grahn!" Soan shouts toward her and Sanary, fishing something out of his swimming trunk's pockets, flicking it up and tossing it toward the tall woman. "Here's a light!"
Landon al Cid      "Ah, well," Landon admits, "I suppose I can understand that, too. Does it really bother you, the outside? Or are you just the sort who prefers the indoors?" There's no judgement whatsoever in the Judge's voice.

"I used to hate going outdoors, too. It's always raining in Ramuh, after all, and I never really liked the rain when I was a little boy. But then one day my mother took me up to the top of that restauraunt, and I got to see the city from on high, outside, with the rain rolling down over the archway..."

"It was so big," Landon remembers, crossing his arms over his bare chest, "So vast. I had seen it from the palace, of course, but that was different. The palace...the sheet of crystal, the windows...it's not the same as being able to reach out and *feel* the curtain of rain rolling down, and knowing that it's the same rain that's falling on the big, wide world around you...that vast vista, stretching out before me, that I, too, was part of..."

     "It was a wonderful moment."

Landon beams. "And ever since then, even the rain makes me happy. The world is a wonderful and adventurous place."
Sanary Rondel      "A light? Uh. I just used..." Sanary glances back to the shore and the scatetered lanterns, pointing at some of those tat had already been lit and haven't been put out in the ocean yet.

"Just grabbed one of the looser ones and lit mine. Although..." She furrows her brow, looking somewhat troubled by something. "Why didn't I just use one of those instead...? Hrm." She looks over at Soan as he calls out to Dorotea, tossing him a quick wave in greeting. "Hey, Soan! You should come out here, too!"
Lyria Mason Lyria Mason Seems very relaxed as she heads out into the water along with her friends. She looks to see Cirra has joined them. That gets a smile out of the blue haited child of the first flood. She looks over to Sanary for a moment.

"The waters are calm tonight and this island's got no real current to speak of about it."

She moves to set her latern down and she does have a lighter however. She pauses to light her latern and then passes a lighter to Dorotea.

"Here use mine."

There's a pause for a moment as LAndon tells his story.

"That's a woundful image, Landon. Water is life...you should see the rain festival in Kara'din someday."
Dorotea Grahn "Damn," Dorotea says, to Sanary.

Of course, then two people offer her lighters, one more aggressively than others. Dorotea takes Lyria's lighter, but reaches out and catches Soan's out of the air with her other hand. She's used to fielding objects thrown at her, apparently; she doesn't even have to dive for it as it drops toward her.

"One for each hand!" Dorotea ignites both lighters at once. It is difficult to see which one she actually uses to light it with, because she kind of tries to push both hands in there, but eventually the lantern is lit. She spends a moment half-bent over it, then pushes it away from her, letting it drift.

She hands Lyria's lighter back. Then she winds up and pitches Soan's. It comes in pretty hard... not uncatchable (it's too light to /really/ drive) but not a gentle, easy toss, either. "Thanks!" she calls back.
Cassandra Dolet Cassie shows up. Of course she shows up. She's just.

Really, really late.

She also prett ymuch steps out of a shadow into the middle of the crowd, her lantern in her hands, holding it in front of her stomach. She's clad in a simple white bikini, her long hair done up in a intricate braid entwined with bells that shake softly whenever she shakes her head.

"Hello world!" She says, lifting a hand at the group in greeting.
Soan Sagittarius      Now, it's to be said that Soan is not a slouch. What he wasn't expecting was his small Fire Lighter to be flung back with such force. It catches him in the stomach. "OOOF!" The Ifriti grunts out, barelling back mostly from the surprise of the impact, rolling on his back into the sand for a few moments before rebounding back on his ass. "WELCOME, LADY!" He squeaks out, briefly out of breath.
Landon al Cid      Landon watches his friend get flung backwards by a lighter. He glances at Dorotea again. Well, that was...

Terrifying is a good word. But also fascinating!

     Terrifascifying?

There really isn't a good word for that, is there.

"Good evening, Lady Dolet. Please, we're all delighted you could take time out of your busy evening." Landon tips his head and beams at Cassie, "You'd best light your lantern soon; I think everyone else has already gone."
Dorotea Grahn Dorotea Grahn didn't pitch hard enough to knock someone over; she (probably) can't, not with an object as light as a lighter. Still, it was probably a little surprising, and Dorotea does not have a weak arm. She'll blame that.

She gives Soan a kind of half-salute before making sure the lantern is drifting well. It is, so she turns away from it, just in time to see Cassie show up.

"Damn!" Dorotea doesn't seem that annoyed for real, though. "Now I'm not going last."
Cassandra Dolet "Yes, well, sometimes there's fashionably late, and sometimes there's deathly late, and this is mostly the latter. If you'll excuse me." Cassie nods her head at Landon, leaving him with that somewhat obscure statement, typing away at her phone as she walks off the beach and into the water. Where /else/ did you think she was going to do any of these shenanigans. Please. She's at home. She gently settles the lamp in one hand, before she lazily - yes, you can lazily dance- in the water. She has no lighter, but... she doesn't really -need- it, for after a moment of movement, a light flares in the lantern, and Cassie makes a satisfied noise.
Landon al Cid      Landon laughs merrily. He watches Cassie dance, offering a hand to Soan to pick him back up. There's a brief exchange on the Light Warriors radio that probably ought disturb him more than it did, but Landon is the sort of person who lets that kind of thing just *roll* over him like a wave.

"It's been a lovely festival," Landon observes, "I truly wish that days like these could last forever."
Mirielle Edelweiss     Mirielle sits on the shore, legs crossed, arms tight around her like she's cold.

"We'd need about four more time mages, then an extra eight in shifts." She offers, informatively. "Each of a certain level, with a few callers for backup batteries." Mirielle notes, her dark look having not abated.

    "But theoretically doable."
Landon al Cid      Landon blinks at Mirielle.

"...that isn't...*quite* what I meant," he observes, and laughs, "But it's fascinating all the same. Do you really think that sort of thing would work? I wonder what kind of area you'd be able to cover."
Dorotea Grahn Dorotea Grahn only got to go second last. Her great plan, ruined!

It honestly wasn't that great a plan and she's honestly not that annoyed about it. She exits the water, kicking sand off her bare feet - she hates wet sand.

She /does/ look at Mirielle like she's a little crazy, though. "How about not? Life is for living, not closing up in a bottle."
Soan Sagittarius Soan remains mostly on the ege of the sea, taking Landon's hand to pick himself back up, clumsily holding his stomach with good humour, grinning. "Thanks," He says, dusting the sand fof his rear and back. The only thing that could've made it more embarassing, was crabs or ants attacking him. "It IS lovely. You know what I want, now, thought?"

He looks at Cassandra, dancing, a hand rubbing his chin. Then Mirielle takes the literal meaning of Landon's words.

     He looks at her.

"Maybe an Ice Black Mage, to make things really slow. It /is/ pretty hot right now, anyway," Soan says, innocently. "Lots of moving flames around."
Cassandra Dolet Cassie sets her lantern free. Good bye, lantern.

She then cartwheels out of the ocean. Because she feels like it. It comes with a jingle of bells. "Ice Black Mage with some dance in them, I suppose."
Landon al Cid      Landon gives Soan a long look. There's an exchange on the radio. It...adds up. He offers Cassie a cheerful smile as the crowd of students starts to disperse, since it *is* getting late by Ramuhan Standard Time. "I...suppose so, yes."

whether he's saying that to Soan or Cassie is impossible to say.

"Well, I mean," Landon adds at Dorotea, "It's not that. It's just...this has been a very nice day. And days *like* it...it would be nice, to have an eternal peace like this. Not literally this, but you have to admit, it's sort of fascinating theoretically!"

"So, what did keep you, Lady Dolet?"
Souji Murasame Souji has been sitting on that rock shelf since putting his lantern into the water, drinking wine slowly while staring into the distance. The exchange between Landon and Mirielle doesn't even seem to register to him.

Until Landon makes a specific observation. "Be cautious what you wish for, Prince Landon al Cid." He says, his voice loud enough to be heard, but without that hard edge.

In the distance, the lantern Souji set out upon the water flares up, the flames within spreading and consuming it in a brief flash. It is reflected off of his glasses as he finally looks up off of the water, setting the wineglass aside. "You just might get it."
Dorotea Grahn "I dunno," Dorotea says, after giving it some thought. "I'd think you'd want it to change more. Else you'd get bored. I'd rather go out and explore than stay at something like this for the rest of my life - I /hate/ being bored."

She watches Cassandra for a moment. Well /there's/ someone who makes Dorotea feel graceless. She figures dancers do that to everyone, though, not just her. "I'm gonna head back," she decides, suddenly. "I have sand everywhere! I don't know how you people stand it."

Dorotea brushes out her hair with her fingers - she's pretty sure she has sand in that, too (she was sitting on the beach for a while earlier, and that stuff gets everywhere when people are running and walking past you. She raises one hand in a wave and starts to walk off.

She never does come back for her volleyball, which is sitting off to the side, near a different crowd of people. She's going to be looking for that tomorrow.
Landon al Cid      Landon gives Souji a long look. That might've been a threat. Maybe. It may have just been Souji's usual...moroseness, since the man can turn a festival into a funeral in the span of a finger-snap.

But it could just as easily have been a threat. The tensions between the royal family and the nobility has been present for a long time, after all. It wouldn't be a stretch to think...and especially given the other day, well...

...well, he might just have to tell Cirra to start watching Murasame a bit more closely.

"I suppose so," Landon agrees with Dorotea and Souji, "It would, eventually, get boring. But it's a pleasant boring, I think, to be able to spend time with friends and loved ones."
Cassandra Dolet Cassie's eyes flick between Landon and Souji. She is not a dumb woman; considering her corporate position, she actually thinks about those two more than her homework some days, mainly due to the amount of power they both wield between them. Who was bright enough to give teenagers such control, when they've got the hormone control of tense dogs? She settles her gaze, finally, on Souji rather than Landon...

Bowing slightly to him from her spot at the edge of the beach, her smile faint. "Murasame."
Souji Murasame Souji simply looks askance as Landon makes his reponse, picking up the wineglass one more time, perhaps to finish it.

Until Landon finishes, there is a sudden creak and crackle. Lines spiderweb through the wineglass, his hand trembling for a moment.

He sets the glass down, and stands, looking to Landon and Cassandra. "Prince Landon. Miss Dolet. I apologize, but I must take my leave."

Abruptly, he turns away and walks off.

After he leaves, the wine glass shatters.
Lyria Mason Lyria Mason is enjoying the water and jhust seem to be really in her element as she looks to Dorotea with a biot of a grin.

"Well we get it over with young and thn we know all the places the sand can get by the time we can walk."

She then sinks into the water for the moment.
Landon al Cid      Landon watches Souji's fingers tighten about the glass. It's one of the upsides of his secret subclass; Freelancers usually have to pay attention to things in order to learn, after all. So when Souji's fingers start cracking the glass, Landon notices. He can't *help* but notice.

"Of course, Mister Murasame," Landon agrees, "Have a pleasant evening."

     The glass shatters. Landon frowns.

     Must've...been something he said.
