Mantigora     Devil's Hand. Fitting name. The mountains in the background certainly had the right appearance through it, and if Mantigora didn't know better she would swear she was at some bizarre landmark back on Nexus. A low breezy wind occasionally blusters through the ruins of the Castle, flapping the tails of the Draken's longcoat and flicking her ponytail about as she awaits the arrival of her opponent.

The three way fight had been an interesting twist on things, but she was looking forward to a good ol' gladitorial one on one this time.
Rebound     For her part, Rebound had managed to squeeze out a win and the three way tie in her division meant everybody moved on to the next qualifiers. But that was then, and this is now. She's less focused on the past than dealing with what's in front of her.

And what's in front of her sure is weird looking. The kangaroo eyeballs Mantigora for a moment as she walks up, and then nods her head, "So you're my opponent. Neat. I love the horn things." She motions to Mantigora's horns.
Mantigora     Mantigora turns partially towards the voice and regards the source for a moment. She tilts her head a little to the side. While far from the strangest species she's seen, the kangaroo woman is certainly... unique in appearance. "They do strike an interesting profile, don't they?" Her tail gives a sway as she turns to face her opponent fully. "And you look to be a formidable compatition."

She clenchs her clawned hands and in doing so there is a clink-shink sound as a pair of long angular blades extend from each forearm. "Please don't prove my assessment wrong."
Rebound     Shifting one of her feet behind her, the gauntlets on Rebound's hands light up with a green glow which pulses up and down them for a moment, before they unleash a hiss of steam, "Wouldn't dream of it." She replies with a bit of a grin.

There's one thing about Rebound, she's really fast for somebody her size. She pushes off with one of those big kangaroo feet and launches herself through the air, quickly covering the distance between herself and Mantigora.

She unleashes a quick jab with her left hand, trying to catch the draconian off guard with a lightning quick punch and set the pace of the fight.
Mantigora     Fang-like teeth show as Mantigora actually grins when the roo-fighter takes to the straight forward approach. She turns her body to step into the attack, the punch striking her shoulder. By the feel of it Rebound would notice that longcoat actually has some protective lining to it, though it doesn't dampen the blow as much as it normally would because of her strength.

It doesn't daunt the bounty huntress much that she got hit harder than expected, though. You learn to roll with the blows and wait for your oppritunity in this line of work. She makes a winding motion to swing at Rebound in return, aiming the bulk of her reptilian tail for the kangaroo's midsection.
Rebound     The tail hits for a body blow, knocking the wind out of Rebound for a brief moment. She lets out a surprised cough and backs up to recover for a moment, "I gotta ask, that coat looks like just a jacket, but there's some kind of armor layer inside? I need something like that, do you know how much getting shot sucks when all you have on is a tube top?"

So mid-fight, she's trying to get fashion advice. Also it may serve to distract her opponent as she shifts her weight around again, throwing a spinning back fist with her right hand to try to catch Mantigora along the side of her head with the back of her hand.
Mantigora     "Ugh, trust me, I know." Mantigora replies, followed by a grumble about something akin to treehugging guncats under her breath. "It is crafted from a combination of leather and composites. Armor that is too heavy is a disadvantage to me."

Even as she replies Mantigora snaps up one arm to shield her head from the blow, but fist slamming against her arm is still more than enough force to send her staggering sideways with the recoil. "Primarily a melee fighter, then?"

With a whipping motion of one arm Mantigora 'throws' an attack at her, though in all fairness the shruiken-like energy disc more manifests and launchs from her tech than is thrown in a literal sense.
Rebound     "Maybe after the fight you can show me who your tailor is." Rebound replies. Though she is probably wishing she'd found out who before hand, as the energy shuriken hits her and she pulls back. It's left a nice red line along her side, and she brings one hand down to cover it for a moment.

"Yeah well, when you're the world champion fighter in the world you come from, it pays to stick with what you know." Rebound replies, as she again maneuvers in, this time looking to take Mantigora off of her feet, taking advantage of her own thick tail to sweep the leg, so to speak.
Mantigora     Mantigora actually laughs at that reply, followed by a fang grin. "Looking at her." Which would mean she crafts her own. "My people have a long tradition of making use of -all- of their prey, be it food, battlecrafts, or simply trophies."

But mid-fight conversation is cut short as Rebound also does the tail thing, and her's is a good deal thicker. It whips Mantigora's legs out from under her and sends her skidding backwards across the ground, kicking up a sizable cloud of dirt. That doesn't take long to settle... but when it does Mantigora is gone?!

Only not so, as she only stays cloaked long enough to dart around behind Rebound. The roo-girl's large ears might hear her when she gets close, but by that point she's already stepping out of stealth as she makes a thrusting motion with her blades from behind.
Rebound     So she can /disappear/?! That's not fair. Rebound starts to react but it's far too late, as the blade finds it's home and pierces her flesh. She lets out a yell of surprise and pulls forward, putting some distance between them but bleeding, "Okay, I guess if we're going to bust out the bigger guns." The first set of lights on the Impact Drivers have lit up by now, and Rebound has decided she needs more power.

She rushes back in on the stealthy alien huntress, her hands going into overdrive as she moves to deliver several punches, both to the head and the body, and try to build up more charge in the Drivers.
Mantigora     Technically it's optical holographic camoflague but 'disappear' works well enough for common terminology.

Mantigora takes a kippup back from the first punch, but Rebound keeps coming and keeps punching. It's the best she can do to just weather to blows using her arms and upper body to take the hits since Rebound has gotten in too close for her to try more evasive measures.

Up until her opponent starts to winde down her combo, and that is when Mantigora comes in with her own, making three cross-over swipes with her claws in rapid succession. "I do so enjoy a challenge that doesn't -let up-."
Rebound     It seems simple enough to get her opponent to strike back at her, and Rebound takes advantage of it. The first hit strikes true, but by the time the second hits that manage to deflect off of the gauntlets come in, she's ready for them. The second light was already lit up, but the impacts bring the third light online. One more and she should be ready to go.

But first things first. Rebound falls backwards after the third slash and brings herself onto her tail. Of course whenever a kangaroo is on their tail like that, it usually means bad things for whatever's in front of them, as she kicks out with both feet at Mantigora.
Mantigora     Unfortunately for Mantigora she has never seen a kangaroo before, much less fought one, and neither Nexus or her homeworld has any similar sort of beast. So when Rebound goes backwards she presumes she's gotten the upperhand on her foe and lunges.

Right into the kick from those powerful legs.

The impact is resounding as it launchs the Draken backwards, only to make matters worse when she slams into one of the walls of the castle ruins behind them with enough force to knock several old stones loose. Mantigora slumps to the base of the wall. That had to of broken a few bones!

Not that it stops her from getting back up, and you can hear the disturbing cracking and snapping sounds as she uses a palm to push her head up, and then grab her left arm and give it a hard twist back into place. Nanotech quickly binds the bones back into place, at least sturdy enough to keep fighting for now.

"Now -that- one, I being feeling." Then with a burst of speed she charges back towards Rebound... but retracts her blades when she does so, instead grabbing for the kangaroo's head, and yanks her forward towards her own head... and well you can just imagine with those large horns.
Rebound     Well they say if you mess with the bull you get the horns, but aparently that applies to Draken as well, because Rebound does get speared right in the abdomen. Mantigora hits her and pushes the kangaroo backwards, those big feet skidding along the ground as she tries to hold her position despite the impact.

She eventually finds her footing, fighting through the pain as she tries to use her mutant enhanced strength to extract the horned huntress from herself. Now there's one thing to bear in mind, and that's that Rebound won a gold medal at the Olympics in Judo BEFORE she became a mutant.

Once she has her footing, she shifts her weight, arms wrapping around underneith Mantigora's neck and she moves to throw the Draken with a lot of force into the ground. It's not the prettiest maneuver ever, but boy is it ever effective.
Mantigora     There is one thing that Rebound keeps doing that keeps throwing Mantigora off, and that's staying right in her face. Most people try to get as far away from a Stalker in a fight that they can, and on many cases she's found that to be true of multiversal opponents as well.

She's hefted off the ground by her foe with the neck hold and heaved over the roo to slam her into the ground. It's enough force to actuall impact the ground a bit, and likely it's only because of her own augmentations that Mantigora didn't get her back snapped or something.

Being as much catlike as she is dragonlike Mantigora does manage to twist out of the hold before Rebound can pick her up to repeat it, rising into a crouching position. Followed by a snarl and she lunges, pinwheeling an arm to bring her blades sweeping in a wide downward arc much in the same way one might see a sword user attack rather than someone with blades below the elbow.
Rebound     That looks bad enough that she better just block it outright. Rebound brings both arms up, and the hit causes her to get forced down to a knee, but she doesn't hurt from it. There's a loud ping as the final light on her gauntlets lights up, "Finally."

The gauntlets hiss and unleash a cloud of steam as the pulsarium core goes to work, and Reound hauls back and unleashes an Impact Driver powered strike towards her opponent from on a knee. Should Mantigora not dodge, she'll notice this picks a hell of a lot more kick than her standard punches did.
Mantigora     Oh that ping. Mantigora's sharp ears heard it, but she had just thought it the sound of impacts of blows one typically hears in a fight. It's not until that moment that Rebound winds up even while on her knees that she realizes the miscalculation. Even with the insane speed of a Stalker's reflexs and tactical hardware the most she can do is brace herself.

Not that it's enough when the augmented punch -launches- her across the battleground, hitting it hard afterwards and rolling several times like a discarded ragdoll. It's enough to actually get a groan out of the alien, and once she's gotten herself up on one arm, spit out what one hopes is just some equivilent to blood because it looks just nasty. "That one... -definately- felt..." She pushes herself up, takes a few deep breaths, and then charges back at her foe.

Only as she does so there's a flicker of energy and while not the stealth tech it is enough of a distortion that it's hard to tell which side Mantigora stepped to when a second one appears. The doppleganger is a hologram, but thanks to the Stalker nanotech it is a combat capable hardlight hologram. So as both Stalkers let loose with a flurry of slashes and kicks from both sides of Rebound, they definately hurt regardless which one lands them.

The real trick will be can Rebound pick out which one is the -real- one to strike back?
Rebound     The holographic display is actually pretty impressive, as Rebound tries to brace herself for the blows. She can block blows coming from one direction, but this is so many at once, she's not even able to keep up. The slashes and strikes hit her hard, leaving her covered in cuts up and down her body.

She is trying to tell which one is the real Mantigora because if she hits the wrong one, it could spell the end. It's tough, but after several strikes she thinks she may have tracked down which one is the real one. Hard light may hurt, but it doesn't put out body heat like a real person does. She just has to wait for the opporitune moment.

As the one she thinks is the real one comes in, Rebound turns and draws her hand back, the intent being to catch her opponent square on the jaw with the full force of an Impact Driver powered uppercut and expel the energy from the drivers into one concussive blast.
Mantigora     You can tell she hit the right one, because as soon as the boosted punch catchs Mantigora in the chin and disrupts the tech the second one disappears. The only reason she's not thrown as far as the last blow from the Drivers is because the upward launch doesn't cause as much backward motion due to causing upward motion as well. Not that it makes the landing that follows any more comfortable.

The Draken lets out a hiss while on her back, and uses one hand to grab her lower jaw and shove it back into place. She's not going to be able to nano-patch herself back together much more though, Rebound has been hitting her faster than the energy subsystems can recalibrate. "My fault for only thinking those were armor, not weapons."

She kicks her legs up and flips over to get back onto her feet, but there is a certain amount of, for lack of a better word, lag in her motions now. Or maybe that is accurate considering how much of her is nanotech bionics. Realizing she's running low on juice though, she retracts her blades.

And grabs the serrated-edge clubs from within her longcoat instead. Twirling them into gripping position she dashes back towards Rebound and swings, the weapon combining many of the best aspects of a blunt and bladed strike.

Draken tend to not be the giving up sort, even when they're clearly losing.
Rebound     "Gotta take the advantages you can get." Rebound replies to Mantigora, as she steps back, bloodied but still fighting. Though those new weapons do not look plesant. You can imagine her surprise when she mis-times her block and takes a blow to the dome, getting knocked for a loop and landing hard.

She's still concious, though. So that's a step in the right direction at least. Rolling over to one side, she pushes herself up to her feet, "Ughh...Nice." She rubs her face for a moment with one of those gauntlet hands, "I'm not out of this fight yet."

Stumbling back up to her feet, she takes a combat stance for a moment, and then she plants both feet and pushes off, putting the strength of her legs to work as she launches herself forward, intending to land one major haymaker as she flies by. It's all or nothing at this point.
Mantigora     "Like you said. Advantages where you find them." Good thing that's all Mantigora had to say, because that's all the time she's got to say anything when the kangaroo woman comes hurtling back towards her. Normally she'd may be able to pull off another quick move to at least deflect part of the blow, but there's nothing left in the tank so to speak. The best she manages to do is turn a side towards the incoming blow, so the fist slams into the side of her head instead of directly.

Not that it does much good as almost as if in slow motion Mantigora whirls from the impact in the air and hits the ground face down. She manages to lift up just long enough to groan out what might of been a gargled growl of "Good fight" before collapsing entirely.
