Scene #3073: WMAT B16 - Kirito vs Reina Kinney

Kirito	Kirito's entrance for these events is as usual - as a blur, streaking in from the heavens. The boy's impact in the arena grounds kicks up a plume of dust. Once it clears he's revealed to be standing there confidently, an almost smugly pleased look on his face. The cold Yunzabit winds tug at his hair and clothes, setting the latter billowing rather dramatically. Longcoats in the wind! That's probably ONE of the reasons he likes them. Maybe.
Reina Kinney	Unlike Kirito's entrance, Reina Kinney's entrance isn't as flashy. In fact, she doesn't look like she's too thrilled to be here. The truth of the matter is, there's just something else going on inside her brain, but she's trying to block it out for the time being while she works on focusing on this match. She simply walks in with a slightly sour look on her face, barely acknowledging the crowd. Once she approaches the fighting area, she looks to Kirito, and she smiles just a little bit. "So, you're the one they call Kirito. I've heard about you and your adventures in those online games. The question is, how well can you handle yourself in a real fight?"
Kirito	Kirito's eyes narrow, but he doesn't lose the cool and confident expression. He's been practicing HARD to keep that one up for this match no matter who showed up. And who did? Another girl. Which is enough to get him pursing his lips. He just hates cutting girls, no matter their competence. Something deep in him just rebels at it. As usual, he swallows that hesitation as hard as he can... the very moment his hand goes up and clasps the grip of his single apparent weapon. Vox Unitas, the black longsword, is drawn swiftly in a single motion and brought down into a ready position. "You've got a front row seat for finding out!" The buzzer goes off, and Kirito is immediately down and LUNGING forward. He stays low tot he ground, blade at the ready, and goes in for a circular closing manuever. Once in range that blade of his comes up and around in a flurry of swift strikes - with the FLAT!
Reina Kinney	"Front row seat? Too bad I ain't got popcorn!" Reina comments sarcastically, only to find herself regretting how she was sarcastic to her opponent a moment later as the blade strikes her, causing her to stumble back. "Unngh... Was it something I said?" She wonders aloud, before shaking off the dazed feeling she gets from her first hit against her in the battle. "Looks like you've got more up your sleeve than I thought possible!" A pause as Reina processes everything. "But I'm skilled with a blade too, I'll have you know!" She snaps her right fingers and her sword appears in her hand. The blade is just like a normal one, except it's made of pure energy instead of metal or something like that. "Here, let me show you how it's done!" Reina spins around and attempts to strike Kirito from the side with her blade.
Kirito	The telltale glow of an energy sword is one Kirito's become pretty familiar with. He reacts the instantly Reina pulls out anything that so much as looks like a Photon Saber's hilt. Uncannily Vox Unitas is raised just in time to deflect the blow from what would've been a savage blow to his unguarded side. Instead it cuts a nasty path through his gut, too deep to be a graze but not enough to bisect him. There's an incredible spray of weird light and cast off voxels floating through the air! His HP quickly decreases, but Kirito disengages with a leap backwards before he's lost more even a fifth of his HP! "A Photon Saber, huh... those have some pretty hefty downsides." He rises up and levvies the blade down again. ONce more he charges in, although THIS time... his weapon glimmers green! It comes in low and with an underhanded swing at an upwards diagonal but then WHIPS back in an impossible one-eighty angle change that defies the laws of physics! Should either strike, there's an unleashing of magical power and blustery gales of Wind energy deepen the wounds!
Reina Kinney	What the hell was that? Whatever it was, Reina isn't enjoying it too much. She finds herself getting hit by the physically defiant attack from Kirito, and she finds herself getting caught by the magical strike which leaves her stunned for a moment before she drops to one knee in pain. "Ugh... I suppose all weapons have downsides... But..." Reina pushes herself back up quickly and shakes her head. "If you learn to work with the downsides, you can accept them and use the upsides just as well." Reina doesn't strike again like before. Instead, she points a finger at Kirito and calls out, "BARTA!" Causing an icy blast to slide across the ground towards Kirito.
Kirito	Kirito frowns slightly. He -hates- injuring girls, he really does. Perhaps she'll see it in his eyes when she stoops over. But when she points at him he ceases breathing, becoming hyper-alert. His instincts prove true. Ice comes flying at him and-- And once again Vox Unitas ignites with magical fury. This time it's the crimson glow of roiling flame! And just as the Barta closes in... Kirito thrusts that weapon forward in a flurry of five strikes executed almost within the same second. The Barta's torn apart apart from some flickers of frost that strike Kirito. Yet then the boy leaps forward with a FINAL slash straight downwards. As soon as the blade strikes ground there's an ERUPTION of flame for one brief moment - with Reina right at the edge of it!
Reina Kinney	Unfortunately for Kirito, Reina's on high alert at the moment, and she isn't about to let the flames burn her. Namely since she's already red-hot as it stands. She jumps back a little and shakes her head. "Trying to turn up the heat? No good!" She smirks a little. "Too bad too, because I'd think I could be a lot hotter at times." The smirk disappears though. "But enough chatter! We've got a fight to finish!" Reina rushes back in, this time attempting to use a direct stabbing motion instead of a slash. "And I don't intend to lose here!"
Kirito	This time there's just no defense against that speed. Kirito manages to only slightly deflect the thrust away from his vitals, but it still drills straight throughh is body and eats away a nasty amount of Hit points in no time at all! "ghhhh...." The only thing about this that works in his favor, however... He's now inside Reina's guard. "I really don't like hurting girls... but I'm not about to hold back today!" While leaving the blade embedded in his virtual flesh (and suffering damage over time the whole while) he drives FORWARD with all his strength behind his elbow, aiming a blow straight for Reina's unprotected solar plexus! Or belly, at the least! If it strikes, he proceeds to use the momentum to grab his sword in both hands and wield it more like a club, driving the pommel up for Reina's jaw!
Reina Kinney	Reina finds herself grunting and yelling several times, at the mercy of Kirito's attacks. Once she's recovered from the blows, she stares at him with a fierce scowl on her face. "What the hell has gotten into YOU?!" Reina asks as she tries to push the pain out of her mind. "This is just for exhibition, you're not actually hurting anyone for a bad cause!" She steps towards Kirito with one foot, the heel of her boot leaving a slight scuff mark as she drags it across the ground. "But if you're gonna be that crazy about this, then I suppose it's only natural I get a little crazy too!" She rushes in towards Kirito, then does a spinning vertical slash before finishing with a jumping upwards slash!
Kirito	"Gah!" Things jsut turned around pretty crazily. He wasn't expecting THAT sort of response from her. Oh well. what he said was pretty clear! Really! Kirito's eyes widen. His blade immediately whips around to clash with Reina's, parrying the first strike neatly. But he doesn't quite manage to catch up to her second strike. It catches him across the gut again! There's another spray of voxels, and Kirito backflips away. She's good. She's quite good. The boy gestures wildly at the air for a few brief seconds, before he's even landed. It's a practiced set of motions to reduce the time it takes to jsut a second or so! R Once it's done, light shines from his back and his OTHER weapon appears. A crystal blue longsword of similar length to Vox Unitas. Kirito draws it and changes stance. "Like that makes me feel much better it... fine..." Mumble mutter. Desperation flickers in his eyes. he needs to take her fully seriously if he's going to win! So he again swoops in low, this time attacking three times the speed and ferocity! The flats of his blades only for now, to avoid inflicting lethal injury! But the assault's easily clocking in at five strikes a second!
Reina Kinney	Even if it's not intended to inflict a lethal injury, and Reina is not going to be finished here, she still doesn't like it either. (Kudos if you get the reference.) "I'm sorry if things aren't getting any better for you, but you have to learn to look past things like this if you want to suceed!" Reina yells, gasping for air as she tries to block out the pain even more. She scowls a little and grips her blade with both hands, a surprise since it's meant to be wielded with one hand. "If I hadn't done that, I never would've made it in GUARDIANS!" She rushes in and, this time, attempts to deliver a sliding tackle instead of using her blade.
Kirito	WHAM! Just as Kirito's trying to formulate a response to that approach he's bowled over and sent tumbling across the ground. Again the boy growls, but he springs a surprise - his wings flare out to full prominence, literally appearing from nowhere. A cloud of dust's blown up wildly from the ground and he turns the tackle around, using wing propulsion to put force behind a sudden flip side kick to Reina's shoulder. he uses the momentum and his wings to right himself and drive in close to continue the strike barrage!
Reina Kinney	The barrage catches Reina off guard and she is knocked to the ground. It looks like she's out cold, but in reality she's just stunned for the time being. Her companion, Ryulikon, is bouncing up and down rapidly, signalling that something might happen. And it's true, something is about to happen. Reina regains consciousness and slowly pushes herself onto all fours, then onto her right leg, followed by her left. It's a bit unsteady but she manages to get back up and steady herself, although her injuries are clearly visible now. "This fight has gone on long enough! Now see what I'm truly capable of!" Reina holds her hand out and a circular symbol appears, crackling with lightning. With a loud yell, she sends forth a blast of electricty aimed directly at Kirito! It's much more powerful than Zonde, her standard lightning Technic, and it's also ironic in that Reina is very much vulnerable to electricity!
Kirito	Kirito isn't about to strike someone who's down, particularly when their companion is behaving weirdly. So he waits for Reina to rise or be declared out... apprehensive the whole while. His apprehension's justified though, when she releases a massive blast at him! Which Kirito can do very little but endure. He throws up both arms, groaning and yelling against the blast. But it carries him backwards, sizzling across his whole form, and fills the area with a murky cloud of dust and debris! But things get weird indeed a few moments later. Thick, choking plumes of black smoke emerge like the heads of a hydra from the cloud and travel in different arcs to entrap Reina before they EXPLODE! It's completely harmless, but it's also utterly BLINDING. The black smoke reduces visibility to barely a few feet in any direction... And Kirito uses his high-speed wings to try and blindside Reina from the side! His weapons both GLEAM. Both of them spin and slash back and forth, this time using the actual blades. Windy gales fly from each elaborate back and forths pinning slash until he lunges in for a double slash finish to end the technique!
Reina Kinney	That was totally unexpected. And Reina is showing how badly she's paying the price for her inattentiveness. She drops like a sack of potatoes to the ground after the attacks land, her uniform covered in blood from all her previous injuries along with these new ones. But you have to remember that as a GUARDIAN begins to get worn down, their internal voices telling them to not give up kick in big time, meaning that their adrenaline begins to rush faster and faster. And as the adrenaline gets faster, the pain is blocked out easier, and Reina finds herself on her feet again after a few moments. "Looks like it's getting down to the wire here," Reina says, albeit after coughing. "But one of us has to fall, and it won't be me if I can help it!" She decides to try a similar tactic to what Kirito just did. She uses her adrenaline to keep her moving from side to side as she tries to fake out Kirito, before attempting to come in quick from his left flank.
Kirito	The only saving grace for Kirito here is that he can see Reina. The way she's breathing and feet are moving is enough to tip him off that she's up to something and exactly when! Even so, he's not quite quick enough to get his parry right. The blow gets past his guard and knocks him flying. But he fips around and slams both feet into the ground, slowing himself and turning the situation around. Those wings help him bleed off the momentum in a menuver that would make humans BLACK OUT if they experienced it personally. The insane G-forces! "It all comes down to this...!" WHOOOOOOOSH! This time he moves with speed eclipsing all his prior manuevers. Fully three times faster than before he blinks into close range, with Vox Unitas laid flat across his shoulders, behind his head. "Original Sword Skill... SEVEN SINS!" In under a second that blade's whirling around forward for a double spinning slash, followed by a backflip slash, a down slash as he lands, and four swift thrusts as a followup! But it doesn't end there. Divination flickers with a chilly icy-blue light and lunges in for another eight slashes that throw shards of ice everywhere!
Reina Kinney	Seven sins? Quite painful in Reina's opinion. She's down to one knee, gasping for air, adrenaline surging trying to keep her from passing out. Still, she's not able to keep herself going much longer. One more hit from her opponent and she's more than likely out for the count. She struggles to keep herself balanced, but it's not easy. "Unnngh... not bad... but I got some... stuff left..." Reina's half-babbling as she tries to keep from passing out. "Shall we... finish... the dance?" Reina stumbles towards Kirito and tries to slash with her blade, but it goes wide. She realizes she's not steady on her feet. "Damn it," She curses, before attempting to spin around and deliver a slash again.
Kirito	The amazing thing is that Reina's still standing! And the bad part is that Kirito's locked in place for a second or two from his Sword Skill trickery. Desperation drives his avatar to move anyways, twitching a motion just enough to activate another Sword Skill despite the apparent cooldown period. Vox Unitas shines white, the color for a Divine element Sword Skill, and Kirito begins a motion to swing... unfortunately in these moments between secnds, he's just not fast enough! Reina's blow strikes first, cutting into his side! The boy's Hp meter depletes, but that's okay... he just needs to strike Reina down and rip the blade out before he hits zero hit points! And had he begun that strike just a half-second sooner, it might very well have worked out in his favor. Reina sees Kirito's blade coming down for her exposed shoulder, agonized desperation in his eyes, but the instant it should be touching her shoulder the Spriggan's body erupts into black flame, consumed instantly in a harmless but likely DISTURBING pyre. The blaze shrinks down into a mere flame no bigger than a fist. It just sort of sits there on the ground, doing nothing important.
Reina Kinney	Reina watches in disbelief as Kirito goes down and out. The weird display makes her seem confused, before her pain returns and she drops to one knee. Despite having won, she's not bragging or celebrating. She waves a little to the crowd but doesn't smile. As the attendants help her out of the fighting area, she narrows her eyes, almost like there's still something on her mind about this whole thing. It could be related to the battle, or it could be something else. Regardless, Reina's saying nothing about it.
