Yunomi Stadler     THE CITY-WORLD OF RAVNICA

Somewhere just outside the guild-protected blocs of the Izzet League, there was the perenial signal to slow travel, longer wait times than usual, and the bane of any summer traveler.

    THere was road construction.

And one of the many members of the Boros were having words with a Goblin forman half his height, long crooked nose tapered to a point and ears going to thes ide nearly as long as his nose goes to the gront, arguing with a hawkish captain. There had been signs up for /weeks/ that this bit of road was going to be shut-down for plumbing work, deep beneath the city's streets.

And in the gaping hole, hovering in mid-air, was an Izzet Mage. Goggles lowered, motioning to the top for more materials. Wire and pipe was lowered down to her.
Yumi Musumi ROAD CONSTRUCTION...

By far the most deadly of banes. Yumi, thankfully, doesn't drive, and the small human with cat-ears hat treks up the road. She might, however, had some more decided plans, as overhead, a pink and yellow bird takes to the sky, soaring away. It's a Bird of Paradise! ... someone's summon might be trying to fly away on them.

"Perrryyyyy! Come back!"
Yunomi Stadler     A bird of paradise?

The worker in the hole glances up at the sound of someone pleading for the return of... a bird?

She holds up her hands to motion for a stop, and smoothly acends. Her ears, soft round and fuzzy prick up, and she pushes the goggles up as she studies the bird a moment, and then shoots out of the hole. Her gloved hands curl upwards, coming up after the bird.

"Heere birdy birdy birdy~" she chirps.

The goblin foreman glances up as the Boros legionaire gawks a moment.

"/She's/ the one doing the work?"

"Yeah, that's right." the Goblin replies, and snorts up a load of phelgm from his nose and half-swallows, then spits to the side, momentarily admiring the rainbow of grays and greens. "And she's on League Break."
Yumi Musumi Yumi's eyebrows also shoot into the air as the other person goes for Perry. Perry, being the bird that he is, seems pleased at someone new wanting to pet him, and the creature wings down towards Yunomi, willingly allowing itself to get captured. A good twenty feet down the road Yunomi brightenes, huffing as she shoves a handful of cards back into a pouch that hangs off of her hips.

"Hey, thanks!"
Yunomi Stadler     "What a pretty bird you are, yes..." Yunomi coos to the Bird of Paradise, and spotting Yumi on the street level, she gently secures the bird under her arm, and flits down to streetside. Her ears prick forward, and that brown-and-burnt-tail curls slightly as she gives a smile to the other mage. "Hello! Does this handsome avian belong with you?" she questions brightly. From her azure and scarlet armor, it's pretty plain to guess what guild she belongs to. Nevermind the fact that she has the (now outdated) Izzet sigil on her chest.
Yumi Musumi "He indeed does. Thank you! I'm, uh, Yumi Musumi. I'm a ... deckmaster, I think the best way to describe it. Like, uh, Theo and Neva. Perry's there one of my summons, but he's... he's a bird. He doesn't like staying with me."

That is an understatement, Yumi.

"Izzet... oh, Rhapsody invited me! Beforehand. Uh... you look..."
Yunomi Stadler     "Ah! That explains it." Yunomi replies, and she lands herself on the ground. "I'm famliar with the Deckmasters. I'm privilaged to call Theo and Neva aquaintences." Yunomi replies, and she offers a hand, and she gives a bright and cheery smile. "I look what?" she inquires, one ear sqiveling and keeping attention on Yumi.
Yumi Musumi "Are you the fabled 'Yunomi?'"

Yumi. Please.

She shakes the proffered hand firmly. "It really is nice to meet you! I don't come around often, I leave it to Neva and Rhaps... I'm kind of like... a total dork and loner."
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi's ears go back a moent, and she makes an embarrassed sound. "'Fabled' isn't the word I'd use to describe myself... 'dork' and 'loner' on the other hand? Totally." she brings herself down a bit. She's not very intimidating looking -- five foot tall, if an inch over because of the thick soles on her boots. She has a kind, round face with almond-shaped eyes, and her hair is dark brown -- save for the brilliant red and blue streaks in her bangs. "It's nice to meet another Deckmaster. Theo's been a great help when I used to hang aroudn the PPDC... oh man, I will never forget the utter confusion at a herd of kaiju-sized rabbit-goats curbstomping the buggers..."
Yumi Musumi "Ah, yeah, that's... that's Theo and Neva. It's amazing what you can do with some populate cards and some growth. Trust me. I play dragons." Awkward pause. "... not like Rhapsody or ... yeah. You know what I meant!"

The cat hatted girl gives the other a broad grin.
Yunomi Stadler     "Oh, trust me, I know about growth." Yunomi gives a wry grin back at her, and she gives a nod. "Hey, Biddix, I'm going to take the rest of the day off. You should be able to backfull the hole and resume operations with the steamlines with no further trouble now that the solder's cooled. Thank you for you patience, Captain." She calls out, giving a wave to the Boros, and gives a motion. "All the work has given me a rather big want of lunch. Care to join me?" she offers to the other similarly-sized girl.
Yumi Musumi "... foood." Yumi drawls the word like a moderately helpless duckling that's been chasing a bird around all day.

Which she has been.

"Want a twix?" Yumi surfaces a large bag of candy from underneath her hood of her hat, offering the wrapped candy towards Yunomi. "What do you do, anyways, Yunomi?"
Yunomi Stadler     The mage pauses at the mention of candy. Her lips purse as she regards the deckmaster with an air of suspision around her before she breaks into a smile. "... yes, yes I do." Yunomi replies, and holds a hand out for the twix as she walks. "Well... my speciality is organic mana transferral systems that can be easily set up and taken down, and repaired in order to keep essentials open -- hospital wards, military outposts, that sort of thing -- but I also help out in oversight of the Guild." Yunomi explains.

At that, a round, softball-sized orb comes out of her sidepack, apparently deciding that it's safe to orbit its master's head. It makes a happy burbling sound at Yumi.

"I help with paperwork and notations, exploration and resetting of sewer and underground water movement, street-level redesign, destruction of rogue shambling hulks, represent the Guild with Lumia and Tibor in events at Rhapsody's behest..." Yunomi trails off, and rubs the back of her head. "For someone who doesn't look good in hats, it feels like I wear an awful lot of them."
Yunomi Stadler     She glances over to Yumi with a curious expression on her face. "What's your speciality?"
Yumi Musumi "Sounds like it's mostly been you just want to help." Yumi says, quietly. "A lot like Theo, anyways, to me; you really want to try your hardest with outer people even when the other people are asses or it's stressful so you just keep doing everything and end up suddenly ruling the world. Not that I think Theo's going to rule the world. But if he does, I'm jockeying for Queen Of The Evil Overlord, either that or Minister of Snacks. Either or."

Yumi stares at the little orb that burbles, even as she hands over the twix. It's a caramel delight.

"Anyways. I don't.. do ... anything. Really. Ever."
Yunomi Stadler     "I used to think that way too." Yunomi replies. "This is Pidge. He's an Izzet Security Drone. He lets me know if Rhaps needs me for anything, or if someone needs help at the Spires." Yunomi introduces Pidge. "Pidge, Yumi and Perry, the former being Theo's future Minister of Snacks. A very important job." Yunomi gives a bright smile... and she rubs the back of her head "Look, Yumi, everyone's good at something. Even if you're good at destroying things like whats-her-face, or a brilliant researcher and dracogenius like Niv is, or if you're just an especially talented woodland creature. Everyone's good at something. Are you good at snacks?" she inquires, and she takes a left.

This part of the city is obviously some sort of 'food alley'. There are vendors with street carts hawking wares. There are restaurants with brightly lit lights in mana-poweded glass, crackling with power.

There's even something new and exotic called 'Waffle House'.
Yumi Musumi "I'm very good at snacks." Yumi says seriously. "Y've heard of Halloween by now, right? My closet and a good chunk of Theos' are filled with my probably ill-be-gotten gains from that weekend."

"... why... why does ... why does Ravnica have a Waffle House?"
Yunomi Stadler     "Snacks are a pretty good thing to be good at. I've no talent at them." Yunomi replies with some degree of seriousness. She pauses, and glances down the way at the Waffle House.

"I dunno, but it's a good thing for it. Nothing says 'I've got to keep working on this madness' like waffles at three in the morning." Yunomi replies wryly, and she travels down the street. "C'mon. I know a place."

She walks along, stretching her arms behind her head a moment. "And I'm familiar with Halloween. I dressed as a ladybug one year for it when I was little."
Yumi Musumi "Alright, lead the way. I mean.. what's next? Getting a IHOP in this place?"

Yumi wouldn't complain, really.

She does stop to consider Yunomi as a ladybug. Her 'eee' of delight is loud and probably appropriate.
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi gives a wince at the squeaky 'eee' sound, and she opens her mouth, and then gives a small laugh at it, shaking her head. "Might need a little oil there, squeaky."

At the mention of IHOP? "I hope not. They're terrible to their servers." Yunomi replies dourly as she walks.

The place she chooses (while munching on the twix), looks like it's a hole in the wall. Literally. The little lobby is barely large enough to hold ten people, but hse pushes past a curtain.

Inside, there is a massive room, with booths and tables and a long bar. A reptilain creture behind the bar squints pig-like eyes and gives a screeching sound that incredibly sounds friendly. Yunomi gives a grin and a wave, and motions to Yumi.

"Yumi, Dresh. Dresh? Yumi. She's another offworlder." she introduces them simply, and heads over to a booth. It seems she's a regular here.

"All right, what kinda food do you like there, Squeaky."
