Cassandra Dolet To put it simply: While unsaid, it was pretty obvious that the Murasame were going to ask the Dolet's for Cassandra's hand in marriage. While also unsaid, the al Cids' approaching the Dolet family as well was kept well hidden until, oh, about a week and a half ago. Thanks to Landon, things were now actually getting rolling, and in the end, Cassie and her dad had realized it was time to address things, even though Cassandra had made her *personal* choice utterly clear.

Sometimes, however, personal choice doesn't matter. Ironically enough, she's getting hit with that and a bat.

The suited Levitani is practically sulking in the lobby of the Dolet building, her arms crossed over her chest. Two figures lounge nearby, and Cassie makes a great deal of noise whenever she looks up at the door due to the bells in her hair. She had, of course, been polite and told Souji five minutes earlier than her Dad had wanted to allow for anything coming up. She may not like him, but she is polite.
Souji Murasame Souji Murasame is proper and exacting. He has been raised to be the examplar of his family in all respects, physically, mentally, socially, and ethically.

And then the Hyral Incident happened.

Despite this, the demands of the Family are paramount. A merger between the Murasame and Dolet families would be extremely beneficial, and when it is a matter of two noble families, there is only one way such a merger can take place.

Thus it is that Souji arrives precisely at the agreed-upon time, carrying a briefcase. His gaze rolls over the lobby, and he nods to Cassandra as he sees her, bowing to her gracefully and politely. "Dolet. It is good to see you." He says simply, more or less ignoring the odd heir-ojou relationship they have been bouncing off of each other thus far in favor of simple polite pleasantries in the face of this discussion.

If things go well, it won't matter anymore anyway. "Is your father prepared for the meeting?"
Cassandra Dolet Cassie bows back, considering she's in her pants suit instead of a skirt suit. "Murasame. It's a pleasure to see you too. My apologies if this came suddenly, but due to the ... conversation with Landon, my father realized it was time to actually have proper conversations, even though I've... told him what I've preferred." She says it blandly, but politely. Souji probably knows she means 'who' instead of 'what'.

She leads the way into the elevator, leaning against the wall. The two figures follow them, politely ignoring the conversation at hand. She shakes her head in mild frustration. The bodyguarding has gotten worse, it seems.

They get dumped out on the executive floor, and Cassie threads her way towards the office, knocking. "Father, Souji Murasame is here." There's a answering reply of 'come in', and Cassie throws the door open and gestures him in, murmuring sotto voice, "I'd wish you good luck, but..." Harsh, woman.
Souji Murasame There is a thin, faint smile. "You might have discusssed this with your father, but has al Cid discussed it with his? I find this sequence of events fascinating, really."

As they step into the elevator. Souji turns back to face the exit and replies, "It is exceedingly rare that we unequivically gain what we want in this world." He holds up one hand, a simple golden ring with a family crest and a name.

Tira Hyral.

He's still wearing the ring. "I can say I am something of an authority on this matter." He lets that settle with her during the ride up the shaft.

When they reach the office, Souji's eyes flick back to Cassandra, and he replies, also sotto voce, "One does not need luck when they have truth." Souji, as ever, can play ball.

Despite this, he steps into the office smiling, stepping forward to offer the Dolet patriarch a handshake. "Greetings, Mr. Dolet. It's a pleasure to see you again."
Cassandra Dolet "I didn't ask." Cassie answers Souji's question about Landon before trialing after him into the office. Her father is lounging in his executive chair, two seats in front of it for the two teens. The salt-and-pepper Levitani rises, holding his hand out to return the handshake. Behind them, Cassie grimaces.

"It's a pleasure to see you again, Mr. Murasame. Thank you for agreeing to meet with us. Please, have a seat."

Cassie slouches into the seat nearest the window, her arms crossed over her chest.
Souji Murasame Souji nods, and he sits when bade to do so. "I know our ongoing negotiations have been something of a stalled affair, but recent elements have apparently come to light. Considering the ramifications of such, I have chosen to provide a new offer for the arrangement."

There is a low SNAP as he opens the case slightly and removes a folder. "Given the nature of our two houses, I feel that it is only proper to give you the respect that you deserve and have always afforded us in the past. You of course have my deepest condolences for your situation."

He sets out a manila folder and lets it lie there on the table, not opening it. "We both know why I am here. I am here to offer you a secure future for the Dolet family and the corporation. The Murasame Family will provide for your daughter a fulfilling career, and you will gain access to our markets and manufacturing facilities, allowing you to use state of the art systems that have been heretofore proprietary Murasame designs. Your efficiency will rise, your expenses will lower, and your goods will gain additional purchase. You, being the head of your Corporation, will be given a Directorship of our new biotech divison, merging Dolet quality with Murasame scalability and innovation. The Murasame Zaibatsu will only be growing more influential in the future."

He leans back in his chais, and folds his hands. "As both Cassandra and I are the acting heirs of both our corporation and family, the firstborn issue of our union would be the legal inheritor of both the Murasame and Dolet assets, titles, and names, guaranteeing your future."
Cassandra Dolet Cassie barely resists the urge to whistle. It is a very, very nice deal and for anyone with a smaller company, it would be a signficant improvement on life and how it works for them. Of course, there's the whole 'the other guy would make my girl a princess' deal. To be fair, the Dolet Corporation hasn't done so badly for itself, which is probably why it seems, while impressive, a little on the lower side. There is the undeniable fact that their kid would be leader of the hybrid Zaibatsu/Dolet corporation, which is a little scary. Also very, very impressive.

Lyndon takes the folder and starts reading it for a few minutes. He then closes it and slides it across the desk to Cassie, who also reads it. She is absorbed in it and thus isn't paying attention to when her father speaks. "We will, of course, have our legal team read over it. You know how it is, Mr. Murasame. We area lso waiting for another meeting with the al Cid family, and a quieter one with just the Prince. I do have a simple question for you, however."

Cassie looks up.

"Aside from the blending of the corporations, what is your intention on how you'll treat my daughter and what you'll do for her." It's a good thing Cassandra isn't drinking; she'dve spit-took just now.
Souji Murasame Souji does not seem to be intimidated from dealing with Lyndon. It will succeed or it will fail. That is all. Showing weakness or nervousness is not in Souji's nature, both as a person and as a nobleman. He meets Lyndon's eyes, and nods. "A vlid question. Your daughter would be given all the rights and privledges inherent to her position. She will have a fulfilling career should she wish to work, and I foresee that likely being the case. It is good for her to be involved in the workings of her inheritance."

There is a short pause, and he gestures. "She will be respected. She will be given power and riches. She will also be given expectations and responsibilities. These things are interconnected. I, too, will have responsibilities. I will meet her needs as well as I am able. I will do what I can within my power to give her happiness and fulfillment. I know this is an arrangement that she does not necessarily approve of. Perhaps in time, however... love will come."

It is then there is a slight shift in Souji's posture, a glimpse. They say that the eyes are the window to the soul.

His eyes are empty.
Cassandra Dolet Lyndon Dolet is lucky and married for love. Alianore was, like Tira, taken too soon, and Cassie breathes both of their names names, her eyes closing as she looks down towards her own lap. Compassion shows in Lyndon's eyes, although Souji's own look is slightly unsettling, before the man leans back in his chair.

"A well enough answer." He finally says, carefully. There's a startled choking noise in the other seat next to Souji before Cassie swallows her breath and then shuts her mouth.

"Is there anything else you'd like to tell us, Souji Murasame?"
Souji Murasame As quickly as it was there, it was gone. Was it thetalk of love, of being put into an arrangement one does not approve of? Perhaps even he could not hold up under the kind of stress that must be placed upon him to negotiate this kind of deal himself.

There is another small smile. "I trust in you to make the choice you feel is right. This choice is weighty and will determine your future and that of your legacy in every respect." The briefcase is snapped shut. He stands, and offers his hand. "I look forward to hearing your choice."
Cassandra Dolet Lyndon considers Souji for a few monets. Cassie contemplates jumping out the window. Finally, he settles back in his chair. "We'll discuss it. Cassandra, if you'll see Mr. Murasame out?" Cassie jumps to her feet, handing the folder back to her father, before nodding wordlessly. Lyndon does offer another handshake out of politeness, but generally, no words are said, not until they're both in the elevator heading down.

"That's one hell of an offer." Cassie says, finally.
