Fassad      The land of Hyrule has mostly become freed of the Twilight. Only one region remains grasped within it: Faron Woods, and the infamous Lost Woods. Rumors abound of this strange realm. Some legends even state that those who wander into the woods and become lost in its mazes eventually fade away into forms of monstrous spirits known as Stalchildren.

It is the best place to start looking for the Tear of Light. It is also the location of the last Spiritual Stone needed for Fassad to claim the Master Sword.

Fassad will be joining the others for this quest. He waits outside the borders of the Lost Woods, sitting atop of his horse, Excelsior. He polishes his sword and shield while waiting, looking towards the path behind him as he waits for the other members of the adventuring party to come. On occasion, he looks towards the forest. A twinge of fear is through his body, something he is working on repressing. He has to feel no fear. Otherwise, how could he pass the Trial of Courage?

The trees at this meeting place are scarce, but just a few feet from where he rests the woods suddenly become a dense forest. Many of the trees nearby are dead or dying. Branches fall from the trees constantly, as everything slowly starts to fall apart within the woods. Some crows fly from the woods on occasion, but other wildlife is rarely seen. Even if one searched for signs of life, almost nothing would be found in this withering forest. It's quite a dreadful place, and yet, it is the next step on the journey.
Yuna Kagurazaka Yuna is none too fond of the Twilight by this point, although the couple of encounters she's had with its monsters are enough to alleviate most of the discomfort. The battle with the Twilit Bloat confirmed that her powers still work even when transformed, which was a welcome relief as these things go - and she's cautiously optimistic about the adventure into the Lost Woods.

As usual, Yuna's already in her Light Suit, so there's a decent chance Fassad will see her coming as Yuna makes her way through the Faron Woods towards their meeting point. Elner is sticking closer to her than sometimes; the remainder of the Matrix of Light is spread out behind her, watching out for hostiles and making sure friends don't wander off in the wrong direction. But Yuna's relative visibility doesn't mean she can't just randomly come up behind Fassad, without even meaning to do so.
Archer     To say this land was dying... was a gross understatement.

Like many other places in the world, the trees and forests had begun to decay at a rapid pace. The mountains had become buried in a deep winter and it seemed like even the very earth was losing it's vitality over time. It was the exact opposite of Woodvale - instead of being overrun with life... this place seemed more like a dying ruin.

At this rate... even if they did obtain the Tears of Light... was it going to be enough to reverse the damage?

As he moves through the woods to come upon Fassad, Archer can't help but feel ill-at-ease, though he doesn't show it outwardly aside from his normal impassive expression.

Upon seeing Fassad and Yuna, Archer makes his presence known by speaking up, tone half-questioning as he regards the self-styled hero polishing his blade - "I take it your journey has been successful so far?" Glancing beyond him at the state of the woods, his expression seems to harden further. "This place... seems far worse off then many of the other forests. Was it always like this... or is it possible Agahnim has beaten us here?"
Frederica     Fairly hard NOT to see Frederica coming. Well, not Frederica herself. It's hard not to see Salamandra coming. Salamandra's an oblong after all, stocky and a good 12 feet tall, and made completely out of fire. Frederica herself is a relatively small figure perched inside the great elemental beast's belly, riding along in seeming comfort as Salamandra stumps along towards the forest at a respectable speed.

Frederica dismisses the flame beast as she approaches the woods, and the group itself. While Salamandra could push through the trees, it's more effort than it's worth. It's also more destructive, potentially, than it's worth. There's no burning where she's been, but that would probably change should she have to push through a forest.

She approaches the group itself on foot. "I wouldn't be surprised if certain forces are taking action even now." she sighs. "We're not the only ones interested in the fate of this land, after all. And certainly not the only ones who can take action."
Priscilla     Certain non-linear shenanigans have happened, are happening, are about to happen, and will happen elsewhere. This is not one of them at the moment.

Priscilla is present in an entirely normal capacity, save for the oddity of new clothes for the first time in what may as well be forever, though it's expected the white and gold will become a common sight sooner or later as well. It says something about how relatively well things have progressed that less than two months after the reoccupation of Lordran, the superfactions are engaged in humanitarian efforts and Priscilla is back in the field again. The strengthening of the general sort of aura she gives off really isn't helping matters, only seeming to exacerbate the cold and dying atmosphere of the forest before them, though interjecting a note of more resolute finality than slow and ignoble decay.

Seeing Fassad here too is an oddity. The prince's adventures seem to constantly keep him trotting the opposite side of the globe at all the inconvenient times, though through no fault of his own. The glance he gets from Priscilla's mismatched eyes lingers just a little too long, predominantly analytical, before briefly, so much as to be possibly imagined, approving; perhaps even a little proud. Her attention is pretty quickly draw off by the crows, still having yet to quite get used to how mundane and meaningless they are everywhere else in the multiverse. "I wouldst not welcome, nor be astonished by the idea, Sir Archer. If such is the case however, he hast already been here some time ago. There is precious little left alive here." She looks to Fassad. "Dost thou truly intend for the steed to accompany us? This is hardly favourable ground."
Deelel Deelel has done what she could but now there's one last places they need to go hopefully they can purge the Twilight so here she was to do what she could to help and she seeme to be as ready as she will be she was happy to see Fassad wth them and she comments as they move.

"I keep thinking about the legend about any who die in the woods are damned to become a Stelfo, please tell me that's just a wild story?"

She was not fond of the twiligh ither but she's got used to it really when she had to deal with it.

"This land it's sick, it's decaying..."
Finna     At some point in all this waiting, there appeared a fox. The very cunning may have seen this critter prance up to Excelsior. But chances are... no, most people just weren't paying that much attenton. The way that eyes tend to slide off of Finna when she wishes to avoid attention doesn't hurt there, not one bit!

But just now as people are starting to arrive... she decides to open up conversation.

Starting with Excelsior. Just a friendly greeting in squeaky gekkering and chirpy little yips. Just checking to see how the horse feels about the situation. Although Hyrule might prove to be an exception (if anything, for the better), communicating with animals about simple things like how they feel usually goes well for her.

Now, if you ask them if they've seen an old guy dressed in red pass through the area within the last half-hour... that kind of question just doesn't work on animal minds and perceptions.

But then she's leaping ATOP Excelsior, right behind Fassad... and sees fit to stretch up and place a paw on his shoulder. Now she speaks in a more, well... human tongue. "Never seen a forest's edge marked so cleanly. Usually it just... sort of shifts. Hyrule's sure different! Feeling up to this, prince?"
Sarah Parsle Sarah has her own time problems. Priscilla can keep hers.

In the meantime, the ecto-youth has locked onto this Hyrule thing and is riding it out like a mechanical bull. She does not, however, lok enthusiastic at this forest. "This place looks like hell." She comments. "What even happened here?" She looks over to the others, shrugging, and then turns her baleful gaze upon Fassad. "So, you /are/ still alive. Congrats." She deadpans. "So you ready for this next problem? Looks pretty spooky." She asides, turning to give a Meaningful Glance at the area.

Regardless, she folds her arms. "Okay, let's get moving. The Tear isn't going to find itself."
Fassad      Fassad nods at Yuna in greeting, giving her a smile as she arrives. He flips his hair out of his face a little, before putting away the cloth he was using to clean and polish his sword and shield. He speaks to her, and the others, as they arrive, in his usual pleasant tone.

"AH! A pleasure to see you again, Lady Kagurazaka, and Lady Frederica. And to you as well... Archer, was it?" It took him a moment to remember Archer. He has only met the man once after all.

The question actually gets a bit of a depressed sigh from Fassad, "I have not been near the Lost Woods in some time. It's a dreadful place, though I have visited it on occasion. I can say this without a doubt, though: The woods were not suffering so the last time I was here. I am uncertain at what might have happened to cause this." The Prince looks towards Frederica, a pondering look upon his face. "...I do not know what Agahnim would gain from destroying the Lost Woods. He wants the bountiful resources of Hyrule. ...But, perhaps, I have simply not thought of what he wants. After all, I am not a vile fiend like him, and as such I can not easily follow his thoughts."

Fassad blinks as Finna speaks to Excelsior. Though his intelligence is not human level, he is still far above the intelligence of most animals. In fact, he greets her with definite awareness of who she is. Excelsior mostly speaks in pleasantry, and unsurprisingly, his tone of 'speech' is similar to Fassad's own, with a lot of reverence for Fassad.

Fassad is completely surprised at Finna leaping onto Excelsior. He looks back at her, shrugging, "The land of Hyrule was crafted by the Goddesses. The different regions grow as per their intent. ...But, there used to be more of a transition between forest and plains. ...But... Perhaps, it is due to the state of the forest..."

Fassad looks towards Priscilla as she arrives, giving her a little bit more of a bow as he considers her words, "Ah, Lady Priscilla. It has been far too long. And... I suppose you have a point. I do not like leaving Excelsior on his own, but..." A smile. He thinks quite highly of Priscilla. He climbs off of his steed, offering a hand to help Finna off as well. He speaks to his horse, quietly. "Head back to Kakariko Village. I will meet you again there."

     With that, Excelsior heads off.

A glance to Deelel, and Fassad smirks, "I think it is only a legend. And they are called Stalfos, or Stalchildren. Even if it is true? Do not worry about it. We will not be lost for that length of time. It's more of a matter of... Well. It swallows those who have lost hope, according to the legends."

A smile is given to Sarah. Though Fassad is not a fan of her attitude, he actually seeks to improve it with kindness. He crosses his arms over his chest, smiling towards the sarcastic girl, "Thank you for the congratulations. I am more than ready for this next trial. In fact, it is probably best that we get moving!"

And with that, Fassad starts walking into the forest.
Yuna Kagurazaka "What are Stalfos?" Yuna wonders, looking uncertain. "... but then, as long as we keep our hope strong and bright, we shouldn't have to worry. I can always sing something if it'll help!"

Yuna pauses. "Elner, you do have one of the mobile karaoke rigs in my inventory, right?"

"It won't help much if you turn into a cat, but yes," the robo-faerie replies.

"Right ..." Yuna still looks somewhat unsure, but a murmur of, "Shugoseiheki," prompts her kite shield to materialize on her right arm. An exertion of will conjures a sword that she can handle with one hand (if necessary), and she heads into the forest behind Fassad; she'd be willing to take point if she had any better idea of where we need to go than Fassad seems to.
Deelel Deelel says "Forgive me then, Fassad and I don't intend to find out. Ah I see, curious then it sounds like some old tales I heard on Afterus or lived, to be more correct."

She keeps with the group now her keyblade is out and she's looking over at the group s they form of.

"Greetings, everyone."

She looks Fassad for a moment and fall in step with him.

"Well now shall w get going and good to see you here Sarah. You certainly been getting out quite a lot."

Finna just gets a bit of a look for a moment.

"You all right Finna?"
Frederica     Frederica muses thoughtfully, falling in with the group somewhere behind the leader(s). "I didn't say it was Agahnim, but then it almost certainly is." she claims. "But who knows why he destroys? Perhaps he can't take any place over so long as it has a Tear of Light and he's been bending his power on each place? Perhaps this place is so damaged because it's been under attack the longest, or because he's channeled the energies he's aimed at the other Tears here once we'd claimed each in turn?" she asks. It's not really an enlightened guess, just an idle one. Frederica's clever enough, but this is somewhat outside her realm. It's magic, not psychistry. Any actual experience she has in this realm comes either from the Multiverse or from video games.
Finna     Oh, this is an unexpected opportunity! Finna accepts Fassad's aid despite being in fox form. But as she slips into his grasp she SHIFTS SMOOTHLY BACK TO HUMAN and takes the opportunity to hug FAR too tightly. The grin she has for him is just FAR too of mischief. Oh yes, she's definitely up to her usual mischief. Any bit of antics to distract people from how awful the situation is and keep their spirits burning works! It needn't ALL be purely positive encouragement. Sometimes getting people a little angry or flustered works just as well.

Oh well. She swings off of Fassad's arm and lands about five feet away.

"That steed of yours is something else." She tells the Prince. "I know men who would kill for a horse as loyal and intelligent as him. Sure he'll be alright on his own? With monsters crawling around? Well..."

She can only shrug a little.

And face the forest instead. "Creepy place, this. It's going near the top of my list right up there with a certain burned house." The foxgirl shivers right there, but she hunkers down as if ready to take off in a sprint and points forwards. "That won't stop us though." And with that she takes a simple leap forward, hands on her hips as she lands to face the others. "Were this any other forest, I could guarantee safety from nearly any danger. No beast of the woods would challenge a Lunar. But this is a cursed place. Do not wander from the group."
Sarah Parsle Sarah doesn't really deviate much. Fassad might be trying to lead but well, he's directing them to do what Sarah was doing already. She doesn't talk much at the moment, looking over the area intently. Something about this place bugs her and it's not the 2spoopiness.

She'll start unloading more teasing on Fassad in a minute, don't think you're spared, bunny boy.
Archer      Archer nods affirmatively at Fassad's addressing him, before closing his eyes in contemplation at the knight's words, giving a small nod of acknowledgement to the approaching Deelel.

He takes note of Frederica's explanations as being plausible - perhaps Agahnim's control could not be cemented so long as the Tears existed. If so... perhaps it was that he needed them all destroyed, and that so long as they had them all that they could undo what he'd done.

The part about hope from Yuna however seems to strike him as privately humorous, though his outward expression is a simple shrug. Especially when Yuna gives her opinion on the matter. "Somehow, I doubt songs are going to help repair the damage if this" - he gestures to the dying woods before and around them - "is the current state of Hyrule."

He wasn't keen on the idea of these Stalfos... but at the same time, he wasn't about to toss out false hopes, regardless of if the myths were true or not.

     "Trace; On."

His western-style black bow materializing in his hands, the bowman begins moving ahead of the group - though he does take Finna's suggestion into consideration, they can't really afford to press forward blindly.

Thus, he fades into his astral state as he turns invisible as he leaps to the branches for a better vantage point, barely rattling them in spite of jumping between them. He will not wander excessively far ahead from the group - he'd prefer backup if they encountered something too powerful... but he still keeps ahead enough to be able to warn them well in advance of any danger

With any luck, his keeping to the tree-tops would allow him to spot danger before anyone stumbled into it... or deal with it before they had to.

... but then again, Archer was never really one to put faith in luck.
Priscilla     Priscilla smiles vaguely towards Fassad at the motion of going through with a full, formal bow. Amazingly, despite recently becoming queen, she has yet to see that much of an overt display of respect towards her. "I can hardly imagine how useful a territory with such a discouraging name wouldst be for a ruler to obtaineth anything of use from. In all likelihood, the Wood was an impediment, if this is indeed his work. Not even a villain simply destroys something for no reason at all." Out of some measure of respect, she turns to conceal her reaction at the word 'congratulations' being used around Fassad, still inwardly laughing at the business with Ruto.

She honestly has no idea what a Stalfos is either, but if Yuna asks and Fassad answers then she can pretend to be well informed later. "All of La-" she recalls old conversations. "Frederica's observations may very well be valid. This may also simply be a matter of him narrowing down and focusing his influence." She steps to the side as Finna leaps out in front of her, continuing into the forest regardless of the Lunar's exuberance. "I doubt any number of wandering animals wouldst be something for this group to fear. Proceeding together is simple common sense."
Fassad      Fassad blushes as Finna hugs him while she is in her human form. This is something that is unusual for him. He's from a time and world where signs of affection in public are rare. Sure, there are occasional young couples who get close in public. But, this is the first time Fassad has hugged a woman who is not a part of his family. He sets Finna down, looking away awkwardly as he comments on his own steed, "Excelsior will be fine. The Monsters of the land rarely attack animals, and there are few creatures as fleet as him."

A glance is given to Frederica, "If it is something that isn't Agahnim, that would be a frightening turn. Agahnim's evil alone has been enough to cause problems. For now, though... We can assume he has his reasons for doing this. No matter the cause of the forest's downfall, we will put a stop to it."

A look from Fassad is given to Priscilla as well, "Yes! Few creatures could even be a threat to our adventuring party."

Fassad leads the way into the Lost Woods. The terrain changes not too far into it. The path, notably, becomes a bit more loosely packed dirt. It's incredibly filthy to walk along. Fassad grimaces at the dirt, instead deciding to walk on the grass and undergrowth just off the path. It seems he doesn't want to get dirty. This won't last for too long, at least. The actual path comes to an end, grass growing over the way further into the forest.

Eventually, a crossing is reached. Three large wooden logs, from some ancient massive trees. One leads to the south, one leads to the east, and one to the west. Large stone features block off any alternate routes, unless one decided to climb up and over the massive rocks. Fassad stands in the middle of the clearing, pondering. He walks between the tunnels, looking around. He would be torn on what path to take, if not for a few hints that the others could pick up on.

First: The sound of distant music, echoing through the log leading to the east. Second: Archer standing atop the tall trees and being able to see further ahead. From Archer's spot in the trees, the path through the woods becomes more obvious. The tunnels of logs to the east is, in fact, the correct path. From above, he'd be able to guide them on the path forward even further past. The wrong turns? Swirling masses of magic. If Archer or others can analyze them? It's a space-warping curse that will warp whoever goes the wrong way back to the beginning of the path, or to dead ends within the maze. The path forward seems to lead to a large, vast clearing... Along with a strange village.

Archer will notice something else aside the path forward. A being. A child-like youth wearing a worn red tunic, yellow pants, and a red hat. It's face? It is completely missing. Where it should have a head, there is simply emptiness and shadow. A pair of glowing yellow eyes opens up from within the shadows. Soon after, the creature vanishes.
Archer     It seemed that scouting ahead had paid off. From his vantage point, Archer's frown deepens as he sees the swirling masses of energy.

They aren't proper structures, nor do they have a true physical form... though he could at least try to get a read on them, Structural Analysis at least allowing him to discern they were passive unless directly interacted with.

So a direct test would be needed.

Tracing a few arrows - a simple metal shaft, uncharged with small magical power, hardly able to be little more then a flashbang - is knocked back against his bow and fired into one of the masses.

As the small flare of light pops up on the bath back behind them, along with a few others at varying areas, Archer narrows his gaze as the trap becomes apparent.

Pick the wrong path and you either get sent back to the start, or put into a dead end.

The child-like creature also catches his gaze, the bowman's eyes widening a bit in surprise as he takes in it's features... or lack thereof.

Were these the so-called 'Stalfos'? It would hardly surprise him, given that there may possible be little distinction between legends and forgotten facts in this realm.

As the form fades, Archer turns his attention to the odd village in the distance, wondering if it is the creature's home... and what awaits them inside.

Once they start moving, he will resume his practice of steadily scouting a few paces ahead, eyes scrying for any possible danger.

After all... if that creature was any indication, /someone/ knew they were here... but where they ally or enemy?
Yuna Kagurazaka The music is coming from the east, and Archer says that going east is the 'clear' path to continue onwards; that's a good enough reason for Yuna to head to the east. She's keeping her sword and shield equipped at this point - and if Fassad doesn't trust the eastbound log, Yuna is VERY willing to venture in that direction.

Just because she doesn't think this is 'trap' music is no reason to completely let her guard down.
Frederica     Frederica isn't a huge fan of hiking. Too much rather-boring exertion for her, and hiking clothes aren't fashionable. Her boots are okay for it, but hardly ideal... and if she does it for too long she might actually start to sweat. Ew.

That said, at least the forest is pretty. If... well, if also a little withered and dying. But still rather pretty even so. As she travels with the group, she raises a palm up and begins idly playing with a handful of flame. The little wisp forms, then extends little arms and stubby legs. She stops, sets the flame sprite down, and lets it run ahead. Not far ahead... close enough that she can maintain control without too much effort expended, but far enough to be the first target anyone ahead of them should see. And no, it's not hot enough or large enough to be a hazard, even to a dried-out forest. As Frederica's flame rather than a loosed flame, it burns to her specifications.
Deelel Deelel is now moving through the deps of the forest with Fassad and everyone else. The Basic is a bit on edge after all she best be wary of this place. She nods to Priscilla's concenr it's serious one but for all the horror here? Hyrule is a different land with a different set of things to meance people with and those who'd brave places like this. She pause at the sound of music and that's going to lead that Deelel off to follow it.

"I hear music coming from the East."

Deelel's clearly intending to go check that out her self.
Finna     Well, Priscilla's commentary just gets a sheepish grin from Finna. "True 'nuff, but it's not normal animals I'm talking about. What -I- call 'normal' woods still has stuff like Great Terrors to worry about. Things can scarf down a pack of wolves and still have room for more." She delivers this statement without a hint of embellishment or style. Personal experience, if anyone can tell.

But her ears start twitching soon enough. Twitching... IN TUNE WITH THE DISTANT MUSIC. "ooooh?" What a spritely tune! With a big dumb look on her face she spins around and drops to all fours - while still in human form - and just scampers forwards. The shift back to fox form takes only a few seconds and it leaves her bobbing her head in time with the music, trying to track down its source.

"Well, SOMEONE has an idea of keeping a dying place lively! Just so long as it's not a siren's song..."

... And if it is, well... she's heading for it anyways.
Priscilla     By simple virtue of not having a map or any real awareness of this place, and no luxury of wandering around it all day with other people in tow, Priscilla is perfectly content to let Archer scout about the treetops, having no real desire to try and climb those herself. She does keep an eye on the bowman however, her gaze following the line of his arrow as it sails over the rocks and out of sight, and then abruptly reappearing a ways behind her in a flash of thankfully harmless light. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what's going on even without paying careful attention to the radio. She glances towards the eastern path.

"The sound of music is either coincidental, and shalt swiftly be proven such, or it is only able to echo down the open paths for the simple fact that the others lead not to it. Though hidden in mists to the eye, I wouldst believeth their end destination, or lack thereof, to be impossible to conceal to the ear with someone being so kind as to play for us." It's debatable whether she thinks someone is actually doing it on purpose for their benefit, but Finna seems to be intent on figuring that out for herself. With only one really obvious approach, she continues through each intersection by ear, giving Archer ample time to fire off any further shots he needs to, and to allow Sarah and Frederica to follow along with the more physically inclined.
Fassad      The music, thankfully, is not a trap. Archer's sight from above proves this enough. Fassad keeps helping lead the way enough, making sure everyone stays safe as they go along. It's rather uneventful of a journey. There are some monsters along the way, but all to the sides. Some purple-flowered plants with mouths try to bite at the party, but these creatures are easily avoided. Some bats fly around as well. The party as a whole is /quite/ overpowered for this forest. Not a single monster is likely to bother this group. The presence of them can be felt, though. The party feels watched.

It takes a long time walking through the woods, but eventually the party makes it to the end. A vast clearing. A number of trees, with homes built into them. Some wooden huts here and there. If one were to check the doors? They're all locked. Some eyes can be seen peeking out from the window, glimpses of children with blonde hair and green outfits. They mostly keep hidden, obviously not wanting to be seen.

From the opposite side of the village, there is a path leading further. The music can be heard echoing from further down that path, past some large rock features.

Fassad himself? He looks around, frowning. Uncertain what to think of this village. "...I have no idea what this place is. I don't know the legends of Hyrule as well as the legends of the Great Sea. ...The only thing I can think of is rumors of fairies in the forests, but...."
Priscilla     It's about as Priscilla predicted of course. Between the eight of them, there isn't a random encounter on earth that would dare to try out here, and even if something did, it'd overwhelmingly likely be little more than a speedbump. She's had no direct view of the strange child, or childlike entity, Archer laid eyes upon, so the Kokiri are brand new to her as soon as they come into view, or rather as soon as she can sense their living souls, far different than the odd bat or carnivorous plant for obvious reasons; potentially those of their fairies too, if any of them yet remain.

"I am not so certain this is a place particularly worth of legend, Sir Fassad." Priscilla begins, casting a wary eye to the nervous half-faces that surround them, peeking out from the corners of her vision. "It is perhaps the most mundane conclusion that music shouldst sound from a place where people maketh their living. A forest is not an usual place to find natives; even for an unusual forest, and especially so for one that had formerly been fully healthy. If they hath time to build homes, they hath been here long enough to perhaps know what hast transpired, and even more likely where our final quarry lies." She pauses ever so briefly. "Though I wouldst suggesteth someone other than mineself maketh attempt to do the honours. I am perhaps not the ideal choice for appealing to the young and unnerved."
Sarah Parsle Sarah walks forward through the woods with the others. Something about watching the dead and dying trees causes a scowl in the young child's face, and she looks over the area with a certain amount of fidgeting. "The Lost Woods live up to their name." She mutters, as the others discover the secret path. This puzzle was simple enough it didn't even need her expertise. She moves along, drifting near Priscilla perhaps unconsciously as they move on.

Once they reach the village, however, Sarah looks over the area. "This looks like some kind of fairy or elf village, all right. But it also looks like hell. What even happened here?"

She steps off to the side, and looks over Fassad, a contemplative look on her face as the others attempt to engage with the 'universal greeting' of J-Pop.

Sarah gets a kind of nauseous look on her face, and decides to shuffle over next to Fassad. "So." She says. "What do you think the kids will be like?" She asks, out of nowhere.

It's always best to catch them off guard.
Yuna Kagurazaka Yuna takes a moment to dismiss her sword and shield, instead putting on a ... set of speakers?

Specifically, a belt with compact speakers mounted on either side of her waist, and a wireless microphone. Elner takes a moment to sync up wirelessly with mic and speakers, and to extend a streaming datalink to Deelel - the program offered her help and Yuna won't turn it down. Once everything is set, Yuna begins singing a cheerful, upbeat song, with Elner managing the instrumental track.

o/    My rustling heart overflows with a melody like the wind
Vividly leading me to a tomorrow still unseen
If all the memories I draw are spun into the future,
Can I catch a smiling "someday" in a miracle?

Smiling, Yuna takes a few steps forward; her right hand was holding the microphone at first, but she switches it smoothly to her left hand, holding her right hand out as if in invitation, palm up and open, her arm mostly relaxed as she continues singing.

o/~    "I feel 'I need you,' I just miss you in my life."
    Don't pull away
Ah, let's go with our hands joined
To the place where our opened future gleams

o/~    Flap your wings and fly, my heart
Changing sorrow and pain into gentleness
Don't be led astray, my way
The instant we met now shines brightly, transcending time with you
    Yes, forever ...

She still wishes she knew a song that goes better with the tune that's led the group this far, but this way, her own song will 'stand out' and possibly draw their attention.
Frederica     Frederica watches Yuna set up, the whole thing bringing a smile to her lips. Why not? Attract the forest-dwellers. Show them they're not ... well, they're not bad people. On the spur of the moment she decides to help, summoning several small balls of flame and solidifying them. The result is something more like brilliant orbs rather than wispy flame; solid gemstones that can fly through the air and sparkle with orange and red swirls. She sets them into chaotic motion about her, letting the brilliant objects fly through the air in what she certainly hopes to be mesmerizing patterns rather than a destructive threat display.
Archer      For the most part it seems, the local creatures are apt to avoid them, thankfully preventing any delays. The plants seem to be more aggressive, but an arrow or two from Archer for some of them - or at least any that the others in their group have missed - should be sufficient enough to discourage most of the attacking foliage.

The village however... inspires a different reaction. Seeing glimpses of the forms in their home - many of them only children - strikes a cord somewhere deep within the Counter-Guardian.

Always the same. Everywhere you looked, wherever there was some great prize to behold for others, there would be a fight waged for it. And people would end up suffering for it no matter which side won out.

"These all seem to be just children" Archer mused, outwardly dispassionate even though his eyes betrayed hints of sympathy. "And they seem frightened. If I were to guess... the last time outsiders were here, it wasn't a pleasant experience." He glances to Priscilla as she speaks, shrugging - "I do not think the current surroundings or the states of these children are circumstances one would play a tune for, personally."

He doesn't try reaching out to them himself - even if he wished to, he is not a person who can offer false hope so casually.

The musical tune, still echoing in the distance, seems to continue beyond the village - and so Archer moves toward that path to continue scouting ahead, seeing if he can discern it's source.

... that doesn't stop him from glancing over his shoulder as Yuna, Deelel, Finna and Frederica all take more... creative and abstract methods of communicating with the children, the bowman heaving a sigh to himself.

It is however contrasted at the end by Sarah's quip to Fassad, a bemused smile crossing Archer's face as he proceeds to continue scouting the path.
Deelel Deelel follows the music now intend to find out what the source of it is, after all she was given life to make music and she'll always be passonite about it. This was hopefully a chance to learn along side of helping Fassad. She does note Fassad was correct that the local monsters would not give them issue. She doesn't seem to be botehred by the woods she does notices some of homes have people watching them. She makes no mind of it and starts take a closer look about.

With Yuna's plan she works and will link up with Yun's partn3er she'll produce hardlight speaker systrms na a few other things to support the show but this is yuna's gig, after all.
Finna     Walking around like this, Finna's very likely to be mistaken for a Keaton or something, oh dear. Or maybe not. But she pays most of the creatures no mind. Aside from kicking a Deku Baba in the under jaw when one lunges a bit too near her! ... And biting down on a Keese that decides to harass her. The latter she spits out, allowing it to disintegrate ANYWHERE ELSE but there.

Which leaves her now prancing through the village, eyes darting about at windows. "When the woods die, those who depend on them are left without food. Yet this place, it's greener than the surroundings, didn't you see? We must be close to some kind of place of power where life resists the curse. I'm willing to bet these kids could tell us what's wrong with the forest! Or at least point us in the right direction."

Now, the only question is... how to approach them? A variety of ideas strike through Finna's mind. No masquerading as one of the locals, she can't even get a clear look at them... so that leaves Plan B.

She bounds over towards the nearest house, sneaking and slinking around... fully intent on sneaking through a convenient window or chimney into a treehouse... and summarily engaging in a FURIOUS BOUT OF TICKLE TORTURE on the nearest kid through the best available means: LICKING EXPOSED FLESH! Because there's nothing quite like being tackled by a fox and licked into submission through howling laughter!
Fassad      Fassad looks towards Priscilla, considering her words yet again. He nods in consideration, "...Hm. I suppose it could just be an unknown tribe. If this place itself is safe, the Lost Woods provide protection from outsiders. And as for meeting with them and establishing contact, I suppose I--"

And then Sarah speaks up. Fassad stares blankly forward, caught off guard completely. His eyes remain wide open, unblinking. His mouth hangs open, mid sentence. He freezes completely in place, absolutely stunned and terrified at the very thought of such a thing happening. He is praying to the Goddesses that this is not part of the test of Courage, because he is failing miserably.

"I highly doubt that this is relevant at the moment! Besides, I am not sure we are even... /compatible/ in that regards!" He blushes brightly, looking away, stumbling as he tries to not look at Sarah.

As Yuna plays the music, more of the children inside the homes start peeking out. They still remain hidden, though. One of them, a particularly bratty looking boy, just /scowls/ at the music. These children are terrified enough that they are unlikely to step out of their homes for anything.

The music echoing from further down the path? It stops. A young girl, seemingly ten or so, can be seen walking towards the village. In her hand, a wooden ocarina. Her clothing is a simple green dress with a belt, and green elven looking boots. Her hair is a light green in color, and cut short. Her ears are pointed. Following along with her is a white ball of light with a pair of wings. A fairy.

"...You're not Confederates, are you? You're different."

And then Finna leaps into Mido's house, tackles the bratty young blonde haired boy, starts licking him, and he starts screaming.

The newly arrived girl looks straight towards Mido's house, a blank look on her face.

"...You are definitely different than them."
Yuna Kagurazaka Yuna stops singing and lowers the microphone, smiling. "We're not Confederates, no. My name's Yuna Kagurazaka; I'm with a group called the Union who opposes the Confederacy." She has Elner shift the microphone and speakers back into her 'inventory,' then gets down on one knee, holding a hand out to the girl. "Could you tell me your name?" Yuna asks gently. "I swear by the Queen of Light that we have not come to do any harm to you, your village, or any of your people; our aid was enlisted to save Hyrule."
Finna     Screaming at first! And shrill kid voice screaming in a fox's sensitive ears is just something to be ENDURED!

Finna, however, is not one to be deterred by a moment or two of panicking kid. Instead she turns to bringing her tail around too. Then the real 'assault' begins.

Touch as fine and devilishly calculated as it gets - even, in fact, with more nimbleness and precision than the finest pianist could pull off - she lets loose with a bout of tickling, fluffy tail teasing all over the neck while she turns that vulpine tongue to the boy's fingers. And we ALL know how that feels when a dog turns to that.

She's going to have this kid laughing until he's OUT OF BREATH. Or at least turn the screams into howls of tearful laughter!
Sarah Parsle Sarah continues to suffer the throes of J-Pop. It'll probably be an annoying status effect for a bit. She does, however, get distracted by Finna committing B&E in order to give a kid tickle torture. "What the crap I don't even..." Sarah says, shaking her head. Whatver. Foxgirl gonna foxgirl.

She looks back over to Fassad, and gestures. "Well, you're going to need to make sure there's a next generation of he royal family, so you'll have to make sure to make a good go at it." Sarah gives an evil-looking smile. Children can be so cruel sometimes.
Archer      Upon seeing the girl, Archer's gaze narrows, his bow vanishing to be replaced with Kanshou and Bakuya... though he pauses as he regards the fact that she is unarmed.

It's not enough to have him let his guard down... but he does take the time to hear her speak.

When she does speak, though... his gaze hardens at the mention of Confederates. Suddenly, Agahnim's speed and effectiveness in ruining this land is hardly a mystery... and to be honest, not at all surprising. Most of those who perused the Tears of Light were Union., so it only made sense that Agahnim would have the Confederacy provide support.

After all, many of them ran on ambition and power. What better people to find support from?

"Like she said, most of us are part of the Union or at the very least affiliated with it" Archer explains alongside Yuna, glancing curiously at the small sphere of light at the woman's shoulder... as well as ignoring the sounds of what seems to be Finna effectively /brutalizing/ one of the children, unsure if he should find that amusing, disturbing or just painfully exasperating.

Ultimately though, he decides to ignore it outright and focus on the task at hand. "I am Archer, and if at all possible, perhaps you could tell these children we mean no harm?"

Finally, as he takes one more look around the area and then glances to the instrument in the girl's hands, he crosses his arms in a contemplative expression. "Were you trying to summon us? Or just calling for anyone that could hear? Moreover... I assume the Confederacy is the one that did this? If so, I'd appreciate it of you could describe who - we may actually know some of your attackers... and how to find them."

The girl may reply out of revenge or just simple curiosity... but either way, Archer hopes that he can at least get some form of information about who exactly Agahnim has on his side.
Deelel Deelel thinks about the possiblity of a tribe that wasn't known, given the nature of the Lost Woods? It would not be impossible but as the music comes the kids start to peek out watching them. One of them seems to scowl and she gets they are not coming out, she wonders what happened here yet the music works as one girl comes forward to speak and she shakes her head in reply.

"No we're not confederates at all here. My ID's Deelel."

Yuna's taken front on the talking so she's just going to follow her up.
Priscilla     Let it be known that when Priscilla had asked someone else to 'do the honours', she had meant introducing themselves, not starting up a pop music show with concert speakers and pyrotechnics. She has to struggle to keep a straight face all throughout the performance, in far too deep now to try and cut it off and thus look disorganized, deciding to stick to the route of appearing to be part of a simply eccentric group rather than both eccentric and inept. She distantly recalls Yuna offering to perform at Firelink Shrine, almost two years ago. How awkward would that have been under similar circumstances. Of course it's not that she's a bad singer at all. Far from it. It's just that the tone and subject matter . . . well . . .

Whatever, it worked! At the very least, a little song and dance shows that the party is willing to sacrifice ample opportunity to be harmful, exploitive, or indeed, do much of anything, harmful or ironically not. Her expression hardens ever so slightly at the first few words they get in response. "Indeed, such is almost unsurprising to hear of. It had occurred to me recently, with hearing of one Vergil becoming, or previously being, allied with the Confederact, once along with our travels to the domain of the Zoras, but there is little use suspecting it now that it is confirmed. This matter then goes wider than the ambitions of a single magic-wielding tyrant. An adequate explanation for-" At the sight and sound of the Lunar jumping in through a window and randomly accosting a small child, Priscilla has to break off with a long-suffering sigh. "Lady Finna /please/." She looks apologetically towards the green-haired girl. "As stated, it is essentially our duty to enact the converse to the Confederacies aims wherever they may be relevant. If thou hast already suffered at their hands, thou shouldst knoweth well enough why. Pray, tell us of whom, how and why."
Fassad      Saria is surprisingly cheerful, all things considered. A meek smile remains on the young girl's face, as she walks to and approaches the group. She slides the ocarina into a pouch on her belt, clasping her hands in front of her as she looks across the various strangers.

"I'm Saria. Welcome to the Kokiri Village. It's not what it once was. We've never liked outsiders, but we used to be a bit more welcoming. ...A bit back, some members of the Confederacy came. The Deku Tree warned us to stay out of their path, and we did. They killed him. His death is responsible for... Well. You've seen the state of the forest, haven't you?" She glances to Archer, frowning, "I... can give some details. The Deku Tree's last request to me was to play music as he passed. So, I saw all of them, and their airship." She goes on to give descriptions. Though it might take some guessing, and double checking, it is likely possible to match the descriptions to Sanary, Sarracenia, Nox, and Vergil.

Saria's attention is drawn away, looking towards Mido's house. Inside, Mido is being licked. Squirming, rolling around, screaming, and laughing out loud. He's trying to push her off, somewhat scared of the fox upon him. Laughing more due to body reflex than anything.

Saria turns back to Archer, "...I am fairly certain I can't convince them to come out. Especially with that laughter. But, I wasn't intending to summon you or guide you. I simply play music."

Fassad frowns at Sarah. He frowns with all of his being. It's not something that he normally does. But, she has pushed him in so many ways. It's true, though. He does seek a princess. And, if it were to happen, they would need heirs. He mutters, half-heartedly, "I-if it does end up that way, I'll.. ...I'll worry about it when it comes to it. I... I need to focus on my quest for the Master Sword." He looks utterly beaten. Sarah is in control.

Saria perks upon hearing those words. "...The Master Sword. All of you must definitely be here to save the land. ...In that case..." She walks forward. Both of her hands are held out, her eyes closed. There is a magical light, glowing in both of her hands. Suddenly, two objects appear. In her right hand, a teardrop shaped object... The Tear of Light. In the other, an emerald clasped in gold. The Kokiri's Emerald.

"...These will help you on your journey."
Yuna Kagurazaka On hearing of the Deku Tree's demise, Yuna closes her eyes for a moment. She didn't even really know about it, but ... for the Confederates to come this far out of their way to commit a murder? And not just at random, but one of the land's guardians ...

Elner is more likely to match the descriptions up than Yuna is, but two of them strike a particular chord. Yuna's not smiling when she opens her eyes again. She doesn't speak, though, at least not until Saria's finished and she offers those two objects to the group. "Thank you, Saria," Yuna says softly. She's willing to take the Tear of Light if nobody else wants to hang onto it. The Kokiri's Emerald, she's got no real idea about.

"Is there anything that can be done for the Deku Tree? To assist in its - in his rebirth, or some such thing? Or will saving Hyrule and letting the land be fully renewed from its heart be the key to that?"
Finna     That's about when the noise in Mido's house gets riotous! Rough and tumble! Then....

    KER-WHAM!

The front door FLIES open. Sure, Mido's visible but so is a... a girl roughly his age. If anyone's expecting Finna there might be some confusion going around. The girl's hair is a rusty brownish shade, and she's wearing a green tunic and leather belt combo, the bottom ending in a skirt just above the knees but its hem is jagged and leafy and it appears rather worn, perhaps sewn together from tears many times from too much roughhousing.

    And completing the outfit...

Mido's hat, which goes from being triumphantly clutched in her hands to PLONKED onto her head while she's facing the door.

And for the moment nothing seems out of place, either. No fox tail, no ears. Just a wild, playful grin as the girl shouts through Mido's door. "Haha! Is my friend too much for you? Catch me if you can, or to the victor go the spoils!"

    Clearly referring to Mido's hat.

And OFF SHE GOES, seemingly heedless of the gathering in the middle of the village, dashing for the next house over and half-hiding behind a small boulder.
Sarah Parsle Sarah watches Fassad kind of just give in. The ecto-youth just pats him on the back consolingly. "Don't worry. IF you need a babysitter, I'll give you a hand."

Her campaign more or less won, Sarah looks over and listens to Saria, nodding. She'll have to remember those descriptions. "All right. We'll keep an eye out for them. Sounds like a bunch of trouble." She pauses, looking at the Tear of Light and the Emerald. "We'll try to fix this however we can." She says to Saria, unusually seriously. "It would totally suck to leave things like this."
Deelel Deelel listens to Saria as she introduces herself and she seems to get they don't like outsiders.

"They have a habit of doing things like that sadly. They killed the Deku tree? This would explain the forest seeming to just wither away and die. I thinmk I understand and music? That was the purpose of my birth, we followed your song all the way here."

She looks Saria over more closely and bows slightly.

"Thank you for being willing to have some trust in us, we will do what we can to help with the tree but I can not promise anything."
Archer     As Archer listens to the story related by Saria, he is largely impassive for the most part... though his eyes betray the slightest traces of sympathy. It seemed this 'Deku Tree' - some form of elder spirit - wanted them to avoid being harmed by the invading confederates. "Perhaps he asked you to play that song to lead us to you, knowing someone else would come here looking to save this land."

He also tries his absolute best to ignore the budding chaos caused by Finna in the background, the shape-changer having taken a much younger form to look as childlike as she acted, forcing Archer to suppress a groan.

Even Illya would have had trouble keeping up with someone so whimsical.

However, what does get a more visible reaction from Archer the descriptions of the Confederates in question, recognizing some of the descriptors and verbally identifying them; "I know two of them; Sanary Rondel and Sarracenia. Is this forest the only casualty... or has the damage to Hyrule extended farther then just the Deku tree?" if Saria can tell them of any other damages done to this world, it might help them know how bad things have yet to be down the road.

He doesn't hesitate to pull open public comms at this... and upon getting a response from Sanary, he clicks his tongue in abject frustration.

She didn't deny having a part in it.

     ...

Was it karma, then? If the woods dying were the result of the Deku Tree's death... then the time it started would concede with when Sanary's hometown was cursed by cultists... and then destroyed by Archer himself to prevent that taint from spreading.

Not that Archer really believed in such things as karma... but it did seem to balance out somewhat.

As Saria presents them with the last Tear of Light, Archer lets out a sigh - it seems their mission was a success after all, even with the elder spirit dead. Even Sarah seems to have tried to be more positive to reassure those present - like Rin, she knew when to take things seriously and when to put on a brave face for others it seemed.

He doesn't bother to advocate the belief the Deku Tree could be revived. It had likely been too long even if once possible.

After the Emerald and the Tear of Light are presented, Archer regards Fassad inquiringly, head tilted and arms crossed. "This makes all four Tears. What remains, then?
Priscilla     It's a rather anticlimatic, sad, and understated way to obtain the final of two sets in a heroic, adventurous quest. It is also, unfortunately, realistic. The Confederacy is from well outside this world; a well oiled machine of practical exploitation that has no part or investment in the ways or legends of this land. Agahnim is a local threat. He desires Hyrule's powers for his own, and knows its inner workings. Those recruited, presumably to his cause by convenience, however, have no reason to contextualize their actions. They are clearly passing through in the same way they have always been known to; killing and sacking as they please, so long as they get some trivial thing they felt like they wanted in the end, taking without putting anything back and learning nothing in the process. How depressingly tiresome it is to remember after Priscilla had been free of dealing with this kind of thing for so long.

"Such is entirely possible." She says to Archer, mildly uneasy at the idea that whoever this tree spirit was, he was both entirely aware of, and resigned to, his own impending death, and the best course of action available to him was simply to hope to save his children in such an uncertain and roundabout manner. "Thus confirms that Vergil was amongst them then, no doubt obsessed with whatever power he thought such an act wouldst bestow upon himself. That accounts for three of four. Likely only four of many as well, if the events at Death Mountain art related. Unfortunately, whatever they hath hoped to accomplish is no longer relevant by now. This forest is not much longer for this world, and I cannot say for certain that it is not beyond whatever we may still yet accomplish. I ill like the idea of simply leaving and praying for the best from old magic even our guide understands not fully. Without a guardian, tree or otherwise, I believeth I shalt hath to make at least some formal request for temporary stewardship of this place until matters are resolved."
Fassad      Saria smiles at the thanks from Yuna, looking up at her.

"...Nothing can be done, or at least not easily. There is a chance the Deku Tree may have a particularly powerful seed that could grow into a new one. This... This has actually happened before. The Deku Tree is the father of all trees in the world. It's possible that, somewhere, his seed could grow into a new Deku Tree. But, it's not likely. We Kokiri can survive without him, though. Don't worry about us too much."

A look is given to Archer, along with a nod, "It extends past this forest, yes. Hyrule has always been a fertile, blessed land. The Deku Tree made it more so. Without its power, the trees wither. The land of Hyrule will survive, but things will be a bit harder. Less bounty from the plants of the land means less prosperity. More hunger."

Saria next looks towards Priscilla. She is, surprisingly, pretty unphased by her. The suggestion of stewardship actually causes Saria to look a bit more honestly happy. "Protection would be wonderful. None of us are really fully fit for fighting and joining the Union, but if you can offer us help... We would welcome it."

A glance is given from Saria to Deelel. And, a soft smile. She stares down at the Ocarina, her eyes looking distant. She whispers a little, a bit more meek than she has been the whole conversation. "I've played that song since ages past. I'm different than most Kokiri. We're the immortal children of the forest. Time has forgotten us, and so we forget times past. I still remember. This song, I created it in ages past. A song, to play for my old friend. A child without a fairy."

Mido is now slumped on the ground, confused, staring at the sky. And, missing his hat. He just stares straight up to the sky, wondering where, exactly, his life went wrong. He mutters to himself. "...My hat is gone. I want it back."

Fassad, meanwhile, is in shock. He barely hears Sarah's comment. Instead, he walks forward. His hands grab for the Kokiri's Emerald. Saria makes no move to protest. Instead, a simple smile is given from her. In his joy, Fassad even holds the jewel above his head, holding it to the sun. Light shines through, refracting through the emerald.

"T-this... We have all of the Tears of Light. The Twlight should be banishable, once we get it to the spring just outside the woods. And with this... This... This is the symbol of /courage/. It is the last gem I needed. With this? With /this/? I can claim the Master Sword. I can become the Hero of Legend."

Saria speaks at last, smiling at Fassad, "The Tear of Light... I wasn't sure what it was, at first, but I had theories. It was sealed in the Deku Tree, but with his death, it came out. I found it in the corpse of an insect from within him. ...Perhaps, it was his last gift to us? And the Kokiri Emerald? It used to be the Deku Tree's job to give this to heroes, but now, it's mine. The fact you started this quest is enough for me to give it to you. Take it and meet your destiny."
Finna     Since Mido seems a bit too dazed to follow her taunt, the Random Kokiri Girl decides to just put the hat down on the rock she was hiding behind and puts a small rock on a corner of it so it won't blow away. The merriment and whimsy playfulness has vanished though, just like that. Fina was actually paying attention. Her sharp ears picked up a LOT of things through the window. Both her hands come together and fold up tightly, a rather dismayed expression flickering on her face. What do?
Archer      Archer's expression remains impassive hearing about the state of the land - how it was tied to the Deku Tree's existence. It seemed that Hyrule was now permanently scarred after all.

Of course, that was only to be expected when a world was was either dragged into or involved itself with the conflict between the Union and Confederacy.

Seeing the way Fassad reacts has Archer feeling somewhat exasperated, the blonde-haired knight's apparent joy seeming somewhat premature in the Bowman's opinion. Still, if nothing else it meant they were a step closer. "I suppose that means all that remains is actually acquiring the Master Sword itself and the dispelling of the Twilight. After that... all that will remain is Agahnim himself."
Deelel Deelel listens for a moment as she looks to Saria for a moment.

"I understand, forever young, forever unchanging. Much like my people in a way. So you alone recall what was and yet you carry on. IT's good not to forget those who are, or were imporant to you. I can undestand that."

She looks at Fassad for a moment but soon grows is silent this is a prettty serious thing that's happening here. She does need
