Toph Beifong     It's not a habit for Toph to stay around Njorun too much the last year, but with Christmas coming there's stuff to be done, like preparing gifts and delivering them. And not to mention it's easier to get ahold of some materials there as well. Lancer of Black needed some wool for the item she had asked him to make for her, and well... rather than run back and forth between home and Njorun, Toph has settled into the Skygarden. The blind earthbender is sitting on her butt on the ground, surrounded by various bags, some rather poorly wrapped Christmas presents as well as a satchel filled with gems, rocks and metal. Some of the metal creaks in protest as she works on bending it, shaping it into various forms. Now and then she reaches out, and a piece of metal flies from the satchel into her waiting hand, and then she resumes shaping something that looks like a crown of some sort.
Samus Aran Samus Aran found the skygarden on her second day on Njorun. It's a rather large facility and there's a lot to explore. She is just in her Zero Suit, glasses on her eyes giving her scan data. Some kind of disturbance is being detected ahead as she approaches, walking silently. She studies this little girl and... is unsure how metals and rocks are shifting around her. She just continues to study.
Toph Beifong     The young teenager sits still as she works on whatever she is doing, a look of concentration on her face.

"You don't have to stand over there," she says though, not turning her head.

"If you're curious you're welcome to watch me bend, I don't bite or anything."

The dark haired girl doesn't seem offended or annoyed as she continues working. And she's used to people in the multiverse being curious about various abilities they haven't seen before. Not like she can blame them, as she's curious about new stuff too.
Samus Aran Samus Aran blinks. "'Bend'?" she asks as she shrugs. "I'm pretty good with stealth - kudos on noticing me," she states as she moves to sit down in front of you. "What are you doing?" she asks curiously, studying. "Some kind of telekinesis or something?" She ponders. "Oh, I'm Samus Aran, by the way. Just got here yesterday."
Toph Beifong     When Samus speaks, Toph can't help but smile. "Nice putting a shape to a voice," she grins. "I recognize your voice from the radio, we did talk there. I'm Toph Beifong, nice to meet you!"

As for what she is doing? Toph holds the crown she is working on bending, letting Samus take a closer look if she wishes. "Bending is the manipulation of elements. I'm an earthbender, so I can bend earth in most of its forms." It doesn't seem like she's lying either. "Some call it telekinesis," Toph says with a shrug, then she places her right hand on parts of the crown, using her fingers to smooth the metal out and fixing a dent there. "But I consider bending its own thing. So...!" Seems she's intent on changing the subject.

"You were fighting nasty aliens or something, you said? I didn't really get to know the previous Samus we had in the Union, though she seemed nice on the radio." Which means she's going to assume that this Samus has some things in common with that one.
Samus Aran Samus Aran shrugs. "Fighting nasty aliens is basically my career," she states. "Wait - your eyes..." She frowns softly. "Are you blind? If so, how did you know I was there? I was making virtually no noise..." She watches the crown's change with interest.
Toph Beifong     "Sounds like an interesting career," Toph mutters slightly, about to ask further when the woman inquires about her eyes. Somehow the young earthbender looks somewhat amused. "I still heard you, my eyes might be not worth crud, but my ears are as sharp as a butcher's knife. And I can still see in my own way."

The crown seems to take on a proper shape as Toph finishes shaping it, and then she picks up a gem from the satchel and places it into the crown, making sure to shape the metal around the edge of it. "I see through vibrations in the earth, so I could tell you were standing there and looking in my direction. Some of us Elites have powers that seem weird to people outside our own worlds, so I'm kinda used to explaining my bending and all. Have you done an introduction report yet?"
Samus Aran Samus Aran frowns. "A what? I wasn't told about such things. I was just told to come here. I'm not used to being told to do anything... but... I guess everything changes, and so must I."
Toph Beifong     Is that a sigh leaving the young girl? "Tell me about it, I prefer giving orders instead of taking them, but that's just how stuff rolls here, okay? Either way it's easier for the Union to know you if you make an introduction report where you tell everybody about yourself, what you can do and offer of help, and if your own world needs any help from the Union, ongoing trouble and whatnot."

The blind girl turns the crown around, feeling various parts of it underneath her fingertips. "So... you got any powers, or do you use weapons? That's stuff the rest of the Union would like to know."
Samus Aran Samus Aran shrugs. "I am genetically enhanced, but most of my abilities comes from my armor and weaponry. Though that's still uncertain just what I'm capable of - there's been a large change. I'm still waiting to hear from the Federation hospital to see if there's any followup care from a recent incident. And hopefully I'll be able to get my real armor back. This isn't... really mine. It's... a long story."
Toph Beifong     Genetically enhanced? That causes Toph to arch an eyebrow, canting her head a bit. "So you're super strong or something?" she asks further. "And yeah, I can understand wanting your real armour back. Lots of Elites rely on equipment and stuff, which isn't so weird. For some it's their super power." While Toph doesn't use equipment while fighting, she knows enough people who do, including some of the people in the Union she's closest to.

"Just talk with the other people and keep yourself updated on stuff, and get started on missions once you are ready, I guess?" There's no need to rush it. "December is usually quiet, since there's the truce around the holidays anyway." With that she sets the crown down into one of her bags, all before she picks up a gem from her satchel, beginning to shape it into something. "Christmas, to be specific. So you'll probably hear lots of people talking about it. I'm working on gifts for other Unionites at the moment, though I'm nearly done. I just need to figure out what to make for my parents." Which is always freaking hard.
Samus Aran Samus Aran sighs. "You have parents. That's a good thing. I don't even remember mine. I was three when they were killed." She sighs softly. "So I haven't bothered thinking about Christmas or the like all my life. Those who raised me weren't into the material-possession thing." She sighs. "Maybe I should go meet one of the officers? Or something? I dunno." She glances at you. "I'm glad you're happy, Ms. Beifong. And yes - I am very strong. And heal pretty well too."
Toph Beifong     "Technically I have four parents, long story," Toph mutters. Though her expression isn't entirely unsympathetic when Samus speaks of how her parents were killed when she was three. "... I'm sorry." It's never easy losing anybody, that's for certain. "Maybe you'll find a reason to celebrate Christmas again, for some the Union becomes a second family, it certainly did for me." As for meeting one of the officers? Toph shrugs. "Maybe, if there's anything you can't talk with the recruitment office about. There's people who can help you with getting someplace to stay here in Njorun and lots of other stuff, you don't need to talk with the officers for those sorts of things. And please, call me Toph. I hate the formal crud when I don't have to deal with it," she offers, then holds out the reshaped gem to Samus. It's... a miniature version of her, easily small enough to fit into her hand. "I hope you have a merry Christmas too."

With that the blind earthbender rises to her feet, then picks up her stuff. "I'm done with most of the presents now though, so I better get along to get them sent off to people before I head home. My mom gets a bit annoyed if I'm late for dinner all the time."
Samus Aran Samus Aran nods. "Have a safe trip home," she muses as she shifts to a crosslegged position and starts to meditate, Samus' glasses going pitch-black.
