Kyra Hyral     There were a number of good options Kyra could have chosen for a private place to talk to Kay. She's gone for one they'd both be more familiar with than some huge medical wing in the Union. The Heaven or Hell quarters were definitely a lot more comfortable and the white mage had no problems with meeting Kay here.

She's here first, having just finished her shift with Sakura in Heaven or Hell's small medical wing. Lately it hasn't seen THAT much action. A tablet computer (an mPad specifically sits on her lap as she waits for Kay to arrive.
Kay     Kay is looking... dustier than before? Looks like she was actually out wandering or doing something, and just hopped on the bike to get over here. She can't have been far, though, and she stopped for a bottle of water along the way.

The girl drops her pack nearby and takes a seat, sighing heavily. "I think I was riding too long..." Though her soreness will vanish pretty quick, why is she complaining? "What's up?"
Berserker Manifesting behind Kay from her immaterial state, Kiyohime is, by contrast, completely spotless! Because she took the lazy way out and din't materialize. She leans over the chair and starts... brushing hair, because that's not creepy at all while Kay's trying to have a conversation with medical reasons.
Kyra Hyral     "Hi Kay!" Kyra greets cheerfully enough as the girl arrives. "Okay, so...I was talking with Sophia a week back about this and that. She was kind enough to give me a sample of her blood. " She pauses a few moments before sliding the mPad over to Kay. On it is the readout to...some kind of battery of tests. There are figures and percentages and pie charts about nucleotides and protein profiles. Crazy science jargon that Kyra might be assuming that everyone understands. "I compared it to some of your blood." Kyra explains. "There seem to be a lot of similarities. More similarities than statistically significant."
Kay     "Hey!" Kay smiles, looking a little more cheerful at the greeting. She quiets a little when the topic of blood comes up, and scoots in to peer at the figures on the pad. They of course mean... very little to her. She's not a scientist. But she still pretends they do, maybe she can learn something. So she just nods her head at first.

Then the actual words sink in. "What do you mean? Like... a relative or something? Or...?"
Berserker Berserker gets the idea instantly, even if blood comparisons were after her time. Similarities. She purses her lips, but then goes right back to hairbrushing, perhaps thinking it might keep Kay from freaking out when the truth of the matter sets in. "Hmmhmm..."
Kyra Hyral     "No, uh, not like relatives...well, at least I don't think." Kyra says, trying to avoid sounding awkward but mostly failing. "I mean species-wise. You might be part Grigori, judging by the matches I see in these results. It almost sounds like she didn't really want to say it herself, unsure how Kay will take learning that she might actually /be/ one of the enemies oppressing the humans of her world. "I ran the tests a few times just to be sure...but...well..." she scratches the back of her head, "You and Berserker are the first people I've shared these results with."
Kay     It's a good precaution, but Kay was already coming to the realization herself. In fact it might be better for Kyra to say it that way. "Part..." She glances down at her hands, unintentionally tugging free of the hair brushings. It's definitely hit her... but perhaps not as hard as Kyra might expect.

"Well, I knew I wasn't exactly human," she says in an even tone. "This answers... some of it. And hey, I guess that explains maybe why my real parents left me somewhere." She chuckles weakly. "I'm not good at the silver lining stuff, but it's actually... not as bad as the worst I'd feared, to hear that. I appreciate you keeping quiet. Makes me wonder about the differences, but..."
Berserker Kiyohime is fortunately here to save the day. "Ah, part-Grigori! Imagine it! My beloved Master is the key to peace in the world!" The Servant releases her Master's hair and gives a little twirl. "Perhaps a human soldier and a grigori, wounded on the battlefield, forced to cooperate to survive! Their struggles lead to mutual respect... blossoming to love! And from that union, Kay was born!"

Siiiiigh~
Kyra Hyral     "It could explain the second magic particle resevoir you have." Kyra says, trying to sound encouraging about this, carefully saying away from the 'half or all of an enemy invader's race' topic. "And your survival ability. And Tamiel's odd obsession with you. Maybe she can tell."

And then Berserker cuts in with the most likely explanation for a half-Grigori half-Human. It becomes very hard for Kyra to keep a straight face and she slowly smiles. "It is possible, Berserker. From such a forbidden union, Kay would have had to be hidden, no? Or else she would be at risk if seen in the arms of either parent."

She sobers a little. "But she does have a point. This seems to open up even more questions for you, Kay."
Kay     It's kind of a stupidly presumptuous, romantic thing to say, but it makes Kay laugh at least! She relaxes some, then looks thoughtful. "Yeah... yeah it might. I mean... I think there's soemthing else going on, but this is a lot of stuff explained. It brings more questions, but it gives me a direction to look." She rubs at her cheek. "It puts to rest something that's been bothering me. I still don't know exactly why I was abandoned, but it's a lot easier to think up a plausable reason, knowing this. It's all starting to come together."

It's not entirely right, with a lot of wrong assumptions there, but it's a start.

"Could you keep this quiet for a little while?" She asks. "You two, Berserker. I think I need to figure out a way to break the news myself, with whomever I'm telling."
Berserker Kiyohime pauses, blinking several times. "What, that's perfectly reasonable!" She hmphs, but the more serious request leaves her nodding her head. "Of course, Master. This is not something that is to be treated lightly. Perhaps it would be best if you tried to understand exactly what Tamiel wants with you, as well."
Kyra Hyral     Kyra's face falls a little, not entirely comprehending the pain of having parents leave someone at such a young age, but imagiing that it must be pretty great. "It does give directio." she agrees, "Hopefully it'll help your investigation into your past."

Kyra takes her mPad back and swipes on the screen, a gesture that dispels the test results.

"Of course. Patient confidentiality, after all. I would never disclose anything like this without your consent unless it was an emergency that needed it. Hopefully one won't happen." she looks a little sheepish, knowing that avoiding emergencies isn't something a Union person can really do that easily.
Kay     That doesn't surprise Kay at least. She makes a face, knowing it's possible, but there's a small shift of discomfort. "It's fine. You're like... one of the people who's been pretty solid to me from day one. I think you'll keep it safe." She stands and stretches then.

"I guess... I have a lot to think about," she mutters. "If you two are right, this means I have some kind of... I dunno. Responsibility?" She shrugs then, and rubs at her temple. "Hope it didn't cause you any trouble."
Berserker Kiyohime starts to say something... then thinks better of it, just smiling enigmatically at some inner thought. Instead of voicing it, she fans herself with a pleased little titter, "I'm certain you can handle it, Master."

She turns to Kyra, whom she has slowly come to realize is not a contender and thus not worth jealousy, and then bows. "Your help and discretion is appreciated, Kyra Hyral."
Kyra Hyral     "I'll promise I'll do what I can to make sure it stays safe." The mPad disappears into a moogle-shaped backpack the white mage keeps nearby. "Responsibility? Well, maybe. If you want to take it that direction. If you do...you'll probably have to tell other people about your nature and once that secret's out, well..." she trails off, "No, it didn't cause me any trouble though it was quite a surprise to find out. Of all the things I expected to discover from Sophia, this wasn't one of them."

Kyra can sense some kind of subtle shift in Berserker's mood-perhaps to a friendlier one? It puts her at ease-she knows how fearsome Berserkers can get. "If you ever want to give the results another look, let me know."
