Sanary Rondel      Sanary's hard at work in her room at Ward 17 today, not letting the fact that her head's still bandaged up stop her from getting some training in! Sure, she can't really move too much without worrying about knocking something over, but she can at least keep her magic muscles working while she's not doing much else of note. Green light floats above her bed as she tries to maintain control of it, although it's not really making much of a shape as it just floats around under her guidance.

At least she's not getting too bored here. Yet, anyway.
Xiao Li Yu      Ward 17.

This is actually the first time that Xiao's been here. She hasn't gotten grievously wounded all that much in her time since venturing out into the Multiverse. So either she hasn't been getting into enough trouble, or she's been very careful. Hard to tell.

Either way, SOMEONE's been getting into trouble for sure. And that someone is Sanary Rondel. The researcher enters the ward with a mildly haunted look in her eyes. That eye she worked so hard on. Fried already. She thought about all the things she'd say to the blind girl when she saw her, but...in the end, she decided it wasn't worth it.

And so here she was, a briefcase in hand at her side as she approached Sanary's bed. "Good day, Miss Rondel." Xiao greeted as she came to a slow stop by the bedside. "I see you haven't let your current state stop you from doing something. ...Something other than breaking her eye!

Pulling up the chair, she sighed and plopped down. "Well? Ready for the repairs?"
Sanary Rondel      Oh right. She had asked Xiao about repairs the other day, didn't she? The healer freezes up for a moment as she turns her head towards Xiao's voice, an awkward grin crossing her face after a moment. "Ah. Hey, Xiao. Thanks for coming. Sorry about the..."

A small cough later, and she gestures at her face. The healing magic lingering in the air, meanwhile, flows back into the healer's body as she withdraws it all to keep the air clear of any intereference. "... Messing the eye up. I'm ready. Just... Don't get too freaked out now." She hesitates for a moment before removing the bandages. Her missing eye is still missing as expected, and the other eye...

Well, at least it's still solid. Although her face is mostly healed, the eye itself looks odd. The pupil is faded and discolored, there's still some lingering scorch marks around her eyelid, and there's occasional flickering despite her not putting any energy into the eye for the time being. "How's it look?"
Xiao Li Yu      How does it look?

"Terrible. As I expected." Xiao sighed as she observed. It didn't bother her any. She'd seen much worse without batting much of an eye. Right now, she was mostly just kind of annoyed. "Well, Miss Rondel, I'm amazed." The girl started, lifting the briefcase into her lap and unlatching it. "I wasn't sure what to expect when you told me you broke it. But this is something else."

She lifted the lid, revealing a bunch of different work tools. "Well, I can't work on that eye with it still in you." Xiao regarded Sanary's eye again. "Though with the way it looks now. Taking it out seems to present another sort of risk."

She sighed, resting her cheek in a hand. "You really did it this time."

Sanary wasn't going to live that down.
Sanary Rondel      Each statement comes in like a knife, drawing light flinches from Sanary and making her chrink down just a bit each time Xiao speaks. Not because any of it's in dispute, but because the scientist is completely right. She almost looks like a puppy that's been scolded by the time Xiao finishes, although she does at least manage a weak grin by the end of all of it.

"W-well. Uh. Now we know what the... Limits of it are. And... Er. That putting too much energy just into the Fire matrix is still bad." She even tries to laugh a bit, although it's definitely forced and dies down after a few seconds.

"Ehm... Yeah, I'll be more careful next time. S-so. Uh. What kind of risk are we talking about here? I don't have it active or anything, if you just need to put me under and yank it out." Resisting the urge to actually turn it on just yet, she turns to the door for a moment before facing Xiao once again. "Unless... You meant something else?"

She's really hoping it isn't something else.
Xiao Li Yu      "....."

Sanary gets an unimpressed sort of look. "You can't see it, for obvious reasons, but even though it's off. It's still flickering somewhat." She leaned closer to observe the phenomenon. "It's a bit worrying, if you say it's off." After a moment of thought, Xiao shrugged. "Well, the risks are actually quite simple."

"If the eye is removed in this state, it might send a jolt into your head that could...prove problematic." She said that so casually. "Which reminds me, I should see about adding failsafes for that. ...But there's a size limit as well." It does still have to go inside an eye socket after all.

"Hmm..." Another sigh. "Well, Miss Rondel. The choice is yours. Remove it?"
Sanary Rondel      Although Sanary's expression remains frozen again, it's clear that the risk of getting shocked directly inside her head is worrying to say the least. She draws in a slow breath between her teeth before holding her hand out to Xiao and raising her thumb in approval.

"Well, if anyone's gonna get it done without fucking me up, it'll probably be you." A vote of confidence! "Besides, worst case scenario... Uh." What /would/ she do if something went horribly wrong? Probably not much, but... Xiao could fix it, right? Right. She just needed to keep telling herself that.

"... I'm sure you'll figure something out. I'm ready when you are." She doesn't sound very ready, of course, but how else could she get it fixed?
Xiao Li Yu      A chuckle.

"I'll do my best." Well, it was decided. "Now, lay back and let me get started." She set her case of tools aside and stood up, leaning over Sanary and her broken eye. "Try not to scream, okay?" Which meant, you were probably going to scream a lot.

With a pair of reinforced tweezers, Xiao reached for the eye, both ends grasping onto a side while Xiao used her other arm to keep Sanary still. "....." She watched, waiting for a moment when the eye wasn't flickering, and then...she pulled.

Without any hesitation, or falter in her movement, she just pulled straight up. SNAP. The eye dislodged from the connector in her eye socket, followed by a series of electrical hisses and buzzes coming from the eye itself. Thankfully, it looks like the lion's share of the volt happened away from Sanary's head.

That would have been messy otherwise.
Sanary Rondel      It was a really good thing that Sanary couldn't see what Xiao did. Otherwise, she'd probably have freaked out more than she actually did.

"Alright. There should be someone coming down the hall in a minute, so we can do it now-wait what are you-"

By the time she feels the pressure of the tweezers on her eye and realizes Xiao's doing it right then and there, it's already over. Not that she gets through it unscathed, of course, her entire body freezing up and an uncharacteristically high-pitched whine coming from the healer from the shock of suddenly having an eye removed. Even without any eyes in her head to speak of, there's still that internal-screaming look plastered right on Sanary's face.

She's still frozen like that for several moments even after the removal, of course, with the voltage still affecting her somewhat despite not actually frying her head. It's more of a mental shock than anything else, really.

"...O-or... Or we can do it /now/-now." She's shaking, but at least the worst of it is over. She just looks much more terrified than she's ever been in Xiao's presence.
Xiao Li Yu      Chuckling and either well aware of Sanary's terror, or not, Xiao plopped back down into her chair, pulling the toolkit back up into her lap and depositing the eye into an empty bay where it wouldn't intefere with anything. "Now then. Let me get to work on this. I brought everything I figured I'd need, so you just lay back and...

     Pause.

"Well, anyway-" She had no words of comfort for Sanary at all. With a stark emptiness in in the air from the abruptly dropped conversational thread, Sanary would hear the whirr of a small drill, as well as the clink and clank of other tools. "...Urgh, it's as I figured. The fire matrix is completely fried." The girl announced that fact, having been peering at the opened shell of the eye with a looking glass.

"Well, at least the other matrixes are fine. For the most part. Okay, I'll need to clean these, replace the shell and fire matrix, and do some recalibration." Musing aloud to herself as she worked, it seemed like she wasn't really actually talking to Sanary at all.

At least not until this moment. "Miss Rondel. Why did you go this far anyhow? I read the reports. You fought someone named Momoyo Kawakami?"
Sanary Rondel      Sanary does start breathing after a while, at least, even if she has to remember to do so manually for a while. Laying back in the bed, she's suddenly much more conscious of everything else in the room with the odd-feeling gap in both eye sockets. One was normal, but two... Was the bed always this tilted? At least someone would be making popcorn in the breakroom soon.

"I used the Break one during the fight, but... Uh. Yeah, Fire was the last one before I woke up in here." Would that help with Xiao's repair work? Who knew. If nothing else, it makes the healer feel a little better.

At least until she's asked about the fight directly. "Um... Yeah, that's her name. Really strong, too. Firing crazy... Energy shit out of her hands and healing herself real fast." There's an awkward cough as she 'looks' off to the side, the gesture probably a little pointless without eyes to do that with. "Anyway. Uh. She kinda... Kicked my ass some. And then she tried getting Sarracenia into it, so I... Uh. Got a little pissed."
Xiao Li Yu      "I see." Xiao replied offhandedly, continuing to work. She pulled out the fried fire matrix, which was just a charred piece of metal, and then began running a tiny brush through the spaces, clearing out soot and such. "Well, they say that the Multiverse is filled with all types." A chuckle followed.

"I wouldn't worry too much about it. In the World Martial Arts Tournament, I got my 'ass kicked' twice. First by a big old dinosaur, and then again by some kind of humanoid ferret." Shrug! "Didn't make it past round 1 actually. Funny, huh?" She didn't sound all that bothered by it actually. "I was mostly curious about the people of the multiverse, so even though I lost, I learned plenty. There are strong people everywhere." Finished cleaning, she insert the new fire matrix.

"In any case, if it bothers you, then all you need to do is focus. Get stronger take these losses to heart along the way." There was a pause then. "Ah, but this is coming from me, the one who doesn't care about getting any stronger, and went right back to my work. Whoops~"
Sanary Rondel      "It is... Last time I got hit that hard by someone just punching me, it was a Saiyan." Sanary actually laughs lightly at that, and she doesn't even recoil in pain. Whatever internal wounds she's sustained must have healed by now. "Does mean I gotta train a lot more, though... Hey, you did good in those fights."

She flashes Xiao a bright grin. "Kinda wished I could've entered myself, but... Ah, I probably wouldn't have done any better, anyway." Grinning lightly, she nods slowly at the notion of learning from the experience. She did learn quite a bit from the fight, hadn't she? It'd be useful for whenever the rematch would be, at least.

"That's.. That's the plan, yeah. I already got in touch with Echo, so I'll be trying to learn how to use magic from her. And then... I need to talk to Lezard about it, too. And some of the Casters...."

She chuckles and 'looks' over at Xiao again. "That's got me wondering, though... Do you not want to get stronger, or is it just not caring about it? N-not saying it's bad or anything. Just curious."
Xiao Li Yu      "Hmm? Well...I wouldn't mind getting stronger, of course." She answered plainly. "But in the grand scheme of things, I'm not really one to go chasing after strength. I'm satisfied working towards discovering new things, making new things." Her gaze lowered to her work, fidding with a new eye casing that would replace the old one.

"If I happen to get stronger in the process, then I won't have any complaints. But otherwise, I'm not going to go blindly running after it either." She paused, stopping to consider it. "And well, besides; I don't think that cute little me as to worry about anyone wanting to kill me, do I~?"

     This girl...
Sanary Rondel      "Hn... Guess that's not a bad thing. Definitely not for me, but... Well, you know." Sanary chuckles lightly as she crosses her arms behind her head to face the ceiling. She's counted the tiles before, but... Someone had been in here cleaning last night. She could smell it. "I'm not cut out for that kind of hard researching work. I'll stick to fighting and fixing people up after they fight."

There's a pause, and Sanary furrows her brow as she turns to face Xiao. "You never know. We're still in a war, and smart people like you usually get targeted by assassins and whatnot. Even if it hasn't happened yet..."

Maybe that's why they were so angry at Yari. Hm.

"... Well, I'll make sure they don't get to ya. It'll be easier for you to focus on your work without distractions like that, right?"
Xiao Li Yu      "You have a point. But I don't believe I've made a very big target of myself, compared to others." A wave of a hand follows. Not that Sanary can see it, but still. She finished with the new casing at this point, and connected the eye to a tablet interface, bringing up a console on screen with various settings.

"Hmm...Well if you think you can handle it, then by all means. Do your best." Xiao sounded kind, but her words were rather ambivalent in the end. Do what you want, and we'll see basically.

"Annnnd done." The girl announced after that, disconnecting the eyes from the tablet and setting her briefcase aside. She stood up, new eye in hand. "Lay down, Miss Rondel. This should be less troublesome than taking it out." And once again, without waiting for ward staff, she just held Sanary down and held the eye over the connecting socket.

And slowly, she slipped the device back in, and with a click, it reconnected. "There. Try turning it back on now."
Sanary Rondel      "True, true... Well, let's try and keep it that way until I get stronger, eh?" Sanary chuckles again, not quite relishing the idea of having anyone go after Xiao's life. Like she said, though, they're still involved in a war, and it's something that's going to linger in the back of her mind for a while. "I will, though. I can't let myself get lazy now of all times."

     Right over head.

The healer takes a deep breath as Xiao readies the eye, taking a moment to steel herself before giving her a quick nod from the bed. "... Yeah. I'm ready." She braces herself for the worst again, but it's definitely not as bad as the removal was.

After hesitating for just a moment, energy flows back into the eye, and it flickers to life as Sanary turns to Xiao again. "Aah... There we go. Up and down feels fine... It's not drooping or anything, right?"
Xiao Li Yu      She stepped back once the eye was in, sitting down and organizing her tools once again. Once Sanary turned the eye back on and looked towards her, Xiao looked up. "Hm? ...No, you look fine to me. Straight as an arrow!"

...That reminded her, she had to finish working on that quiver for Lina. Ah, that could come later. "Well, you're seeing straight. And your matrixes have all been cleaned and replaced, so I'll assume they work." She closed up her case then, and stood up, holding it at her side.

"Now then, Miss Rondel..." The researcher leaned dangerously close. "If you break it so callously again, we'll have words." That statement was made with a pleasant smile the entire way through. And then she backed off.

     "Have a nice day now~"
Sanary Rondel      A broad smile crosses Sanary's face as Xiao gives her those words of reassurance. "Awesome. Thanks for taking care of this so quick, Xiao. What would I do without you?"

Probably continue being blind and getting used to it again, for one. Or risk having it explode in her head. Good thing she doesn't have to worry about that what if scenario any more!

That warning from the researcher does make the healer freeze up a bit, though, and the smile becomes significantly more nervous. "Eh? Ah.. D-don't worry, I'll take good care of it. No more.. Uh. Nothing like last time again." It's just as much a promise to Xiao as it is to herself. She doesn't want to know what those words are going to be!

"Y... You too, Xiao." She'll probably be on her best behavior for a while.
