Guest Psyber     People who know Psyber long enough get used to his noir tendencies and habits. Some of them are, however, more annoying than others all told. Like his propensity to, as a Boston resident, have every single clandestine meeting possible down at the docks. Tonight is one of those meetings, though the winter weather seems to have toned itself down to the mid-40s with a heavy fog bank.

The half-angel himself is hanging out under a street light, bundled up in his usual longcoat with a cigarette in his mouth as he waits for people to arrive.
Kyra Hyral     Called in by Psyber, this is actually her first old-timey secret squirrel noir meeting. She's only slightly familiar with the genre so she just finds it weird that they'd go meet out at the docks instead of, say, Psyber's office. Then again, there is also the fact that this might be about Kyra's 'secret activities' that she saw to it to disclose to the highest ranks in the Union.

Kyra saunters in wearing a much more nondescript black hoodie as opposed to her very distinct moogle hoodie. She keeps her hands in her pockets as she approaches Psyber, nodding in greeting to the half-angel as she does.
Duet Fortuna     Some people are more tolerant of these tendencies than others. Duet has optend to show up in a heavy coat, like a trenchcoat more than anything else, and a wide-brimmed hat which is not a fedora. This keeps her face in shadow enough that the mask isn't as obvious, especially since she's swapped it out for a darker one. Pretty standard gimmick, really.

Walking out from the fog would be dramatic if Duet were trying for that. As it is she's... not. She has her smartphone out and is tapping away at something... seemingly. Then the faint voice chimes out, 'Arriving at destination on left.'

Duet looks up and to the left to see... the water.

Then she looks to her right and wanders over toward Psyber and Kyra.
Guest Psyber     "Oh good, you both made it," Psyber says in a fairly gruff voice. Whether that's because he's sick or deliberately being dramatic is always hard to tell with him. He takes a slow draw from his cigarette and holds it for a moment, exhaling into the air a moment later. If Kyra kept learning under Sakura, she'll likely some day pick up Haruno's hatred of that habit of his.

"The Union can't exactly condone all the... nothing... that you're currently doing, Kyra. But at the same time, I'm not the kind of guy to leave you to do this all on your own," He adds, leaning back against the lamppost and flicking some ash from the tip of his cigarette, "Which puts me in a rather tough spot, since I can't actually help you personally."

"Fortunately, I do happen to have non-factional connections. Or well, I know a lot of people who might be able to help you from organizational, tactical, and skill standpoints." He waves over towards Duet, "This is Duet Fortuna. She's my..." There's a REALLY long pause as Psyber looks for a word or term that fits. He eventually settles on, "... it's complicated."
Kyra Hyral     Knowing Psyber...yeah, he's not sick. Kyra's pretty sure he's making his voice all gravely and gruff on purpose. She can't help but notice just how cinematic he was being with his movements, such as the dramatic cigarette buffing. "Well...I'm not alone with the nothing." Kyra says slowly, "But certain people aren't going to help me with the nothing." she looks to Duet as she approaches warily, drawing her shoulders up a little. She has yet to meet ther in person, after all. "It's okay, Psyber, I understand. I never expected help from the Union for what I'm doing. In fact, I thought I was going to get yelled at and kicked out. Since doing nothing doesn't make you look good."

She falls silent as he tells her he can help in some ways. Kyra looks back to Duet, "Oh...the new lady from Fairchild's world? Hi." She doesn't really pick up on the relationship-last Kyra knew, Psyber never had one. He was married to his job. "You're not in the Union, are you? I've never heard you talk there."
Duet Fortuna     Duet opens her mouth... then closes it with a sigh at the rather clumsy, to her, talk about 'nothing' going on. Well, it's better than speaking out loud about what's happening, which she's kind of not entirely sure about... but can guess it isn't above board, or she wouldn't be here right now.

A little nod of her head affirms the guess. "Yes, from a version of the late Lady Fairchild's world. I'm not in the Union, I've been careful to avoid factional ties thus far, though many of my activities lean that way. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Guest Psyber     "It's entirely possible that if Duet Fortuna can aid you in the matters you need help with, I can potentially pull some strings and get her status as a Contract Mercenary within the Union at some point," He states, sighing a bit and continuing to lean against the lamp post, "If she decides to help, that is."

He knows he's not good at subtlety or subterfuge, which is why he elected for a totally secluded meeting location. All things tend to make sense with him, at least, "You should explain the situation to her."
Kyra Hyral     "Nice to meet you. I'm Kyra Hyral, one of Heaven or Hell's medical interns." Kyra nods, looking up at Duet. "I have some activities not involving factional ties, in fact." She looks to Psyber with a glance of 'I can trust her, right'? enabling him to encourage her to explain what she's gotten herself into.

"I'm trying to stop the Murasame Zaibatsu from completely taking over the market with their new renewable energy source technology. They're a big, amoral, wretched company that started a war on my world, likely to profit from it. I am slowing down their production and stealing their technolgy with the intent of releasing the technical specs to the public when I have enough so anyone could possibly make the technology."

She spreads her hands out, "So far, my actions have been condemned and painted as terrorism. On the surface, that's an easy assumption for outsiders to make. Most of my closest friends I cannot ask for help because of this-so I need to look for help elsewhere. The Zaibatsu is dangerous and it is only a matter of time before they find out it's me behind the attacks. Not only that, but the deeper I push into this the more crazy stuff we're discovering."

She doesn't even try getting into the 'domain core' stuff she saw recently. Video from her camera would do better to illustrate that. "So we need help. We need help evading a huge and aggressive megacorp."
Duet Fortuna     Duet runs fingers over her chin, listening during the whole explanation. "Yes, it sounds like you have quite a problem, if what you say is true." She doesn't ask for proof about the Zaibatsu's activities... she doubts Kyra has it. She also happens to know that Kyra is right, but she can't very well say that. It does make the situation easy to make a decision on.

"Stop a monopoly from a company with no morals from controlling an important technology..." Duet pauses. "I can certainly help with that. If I had more influence on your world... ah well. I'll see what I can do for you then. It's an easy decision for me to make, after the history of my world."
Guest Psyber     "While she may seem like a humble secretary, Duet has a lot of skills that could be useful in this. And she's someone I trust more than... almost anyone else," Psyber says to Kyra confidently, dropping his cigarette to the ground and snuffing it out under the toe of a dress shoe. He half-lids his eyes and looks between them.

"Just try to avoid getting her killed or found out. I just got her all set up in the office and it'd be a bitch to find a replacement." He notes as a bit of wry humor, though he does cast a concerned look, showing that the private investigator does hold a lot of concern for the well being of both of them.
Kyra Hyral     "Yeah, basically just that. I hate to say it but they kind of...hold the cards right now? Finding support isn't easy." She taps her fingers together, quietly assuming that it was probably her fault. Her methods were too extreme so /no wonder/. "Wait, you could? Oh, what can-"

She pauses to look at Psyber, flustered, "I'll try not to! We haven't been unmasked so far." Though the last mission came too close for comfort. "If you trust her, Psyber, then I will too."

She looks back to Duet fully, "So...I was going to ask, what kind of skills do you have?"
Duet Fortuna     With that, Duet smiles faintly. "I have my own sort of contacts and talents for... mmn... espionage, I guess you could say. I'm decent at guessing what the opposition will do, once I've had a good idea of who they are. In battle, I can use a sword or gun and have more strength and speed than most humans, so I can likely hold my own against the non-summoners of your world. I also have the ability to seal magic away, though how long it lasts is ah... variable."

She folds her hands before her with a faint sigh, then glances at Psyber when he says he trusts her. "If push comes to shove, I'm also the new Master of Mordred, the Saber of Red. She is an unsubtle sort, however... that would be more a trump card. On the other hand, being unaffiliated with the Union or Confederacy means it's less risk to you if I am revealed."
Guest Psyber     "I'd probably take most of the blowback for one of my employees being involved in 'terrorism'," Psyber admits to Kyra and Duet. Though this admittance is followed by a mighty shrug, "Then again, 'fuck it'," He says blandly, showing that he's not all grit and noir. Nor is he always the most responsible adult, "If shit ever hits the fan and either of you gets found out, come to the tower. Only an idiot would try to huff and puff at my front door. Or, if they do get me, go to the Syndicate and find Arthur, he'll help you stay low and away if I can't," Psyber says to both of them.

And then he lets out a sigh that shows how worried he really might be, "Sorry I can't do more."
Kyra Hyral     "It's unlikely that you'll run into a summoner. Those aren't that common in our world to begin with and I can't think of any that work for the Zaibatsu." Kyra points out, "All that would be extremely useful to me, espionage especially. As much as I enjoy blowing things up, stealing information is the way we really want to go with this. Less likely to be painted as terrorists that way." Kyra nods, then adds, shyly, "We call it Ground Zero. Your servant is welcome too but I'm afraid that'd identify you too quickly. I don't /want/ anyone to be unnmasked, even unaffiliated people like you because then you'd get the wrath of the whole Zaibatsu on you."

Psyber offers sanctuary for those who do get discovered, "You've done enough, Psyber. I understand why you can't publically align yourself with what looks like a terrorist group." Kyra points out, "But you're still helping me how you can, right? That's enough for me."
Duet Fortuna     "Yes, Mordred is a trump card," she admits. "Though she does have some kind of disguise, it's not the kind that would be too helpful here." Duet steps back, giving Psyber a slight smile before speaking to Kyra again. "He's a meddler... but then again, so am I, aren't I? I'll start to see what I can do about getting people in your world in my own information network. I'm not as good at this as my ah... predecessor but I picked up a few tricks."

Ground Zero. The faint smile says Duet likes the sound of that. "I always appreciate a good name. Names are important, you know. But... whether you're seen as terrorists or not doesn't really matter, so long as what's right, gets done, yes?"
Kyra Hyral     "No, probably not. The Master-Servant link looks really unique, especially if you can Scan to see prana flow. If you and Mordred were together, that'd be noticed." Kyra asides, "Espionage and information is mostly desired over everything else at the moment anyway." Kyra pauses, looking thoughtful at Duet's words, "Yeah. I guess you're right about that. But...it does have an effect on who will stand with me and who will stand-" her thoughts drift back to the broadband a few days ago, "..against me."
Duet Fortuna     Duet considers that. "Maybe, but perhaps one of the things I can help with is... PR, as it were. We'll have to see. Either way, I'll do what I can and if I turn out to be useful, it would be nice. I have several more personal reasons to join in with you, even if it weren't for Psyber asking." She glances to the noir gentleman. "And that's enough, I owe him quite a lot, even now."
Guest Psyber     He's mostly still here, hanging out and debating if he should have a second cigarette. Instead he opts to take a flask out of his jacket and sips from it thoughtfully. When Duet mentions him, though, he gives her a cheery smile, "You shouldn't feel like you owe me anything. I'm just happy to have helped you out, Miss Fortuna, and to have you around." He shifts his gaze over to Kyra, "Good luck, Kyra. Your first black operation is always daunting, but I think you can do it."
Kyra Hyral     Kyra gets quiet all the sudden, "It's very daunting. A..anyway, Duet, as soon as I get my super secure server up...I'll send you access to the tacband. Also think of a callsign to use. Everyone uses callsigns on the radio and during operations." She starts to get a little excited but seems to temper herself quickly. "W're as careful as can be." she adds by way of explanation. "B..but anyway, thank you for hearing me out."
Duet Fortuna     Duet shakes her head, "Any time. I might as well be able to make use of my unique position. Good luck to you... I'll see you on the server." Tipping her hat, Duet makes an attempt to step back into the fog, mysterious-like... except meeting at the docks means she just stepped off the docks and probably into the water. There doesn't seem to be a splash, but the windmilling arms right before she vanishes isn't a good sign.
