Starbound Flotilla     The walkways emerging from the Amalgam artificial warpgate are where you can find passage to most of the other sectors, as well as a few small partially-automated restaurants and assorted stores, big franchises that seem to put their places everywhere. It's a feeling that evokes a tiny airport, quite honestly, but lacks the same gouging of prices. From here, it's easy to access several sectors. The residential sector is easily visible, a wide and varied path leading to it that splits into multiple types and degrades into restructured terrain, depending on the completion of your intended location. The industrial sector's path is relatively narrow, but bordered on all sides by heavy rail systems that help convey things where they need to go. The trade sector seems to be under construction; paths that way are marked with heavy yellow-lined stripes that warn those unable to help with the construction away from it. If you're looking to grab a bite to eat or to hang out, though, the Walkways are by far the easiest place to start out.

George is smoking outside one of those semi-automated shops. For his part, he knows the most socially acceptable way of having this talk will be out in public, probably, in some capacity where folks won't be listening in. There's a small number of people out today, but there's only maybe a hundred or so residents around Amalgam normally anyway.
Kyra Hyral Kyra finds her way around easily, navigating the airport-like sector with ease. She's explored this place before though it does seem like there's been a lot of construction since she last visited. She wanders the walkways, looking around with curiosity, until she finally comes upon George outside the shop he had relayed to her earlier.

"Hey there." she says as she slides into the seat across from George. She looks...well, pretty neutral right now despite the previous night's outburst, if a little subdued.
Starbound Flotilla     "Hey kid." George is a bit back to his usual casual jokingness. He takes a pause to take another long drag of his cigarette. "How's things?" He doesn't stick to the small talk too long, though. "You given any thought on the questions?" His expression is that same old kind of dull happy that he tends to have, like a comedian on break. As he speaks, he pushes himself off the wall with an elbow, getting ready to wander around a while.
Kyra Hyral "Eh, not that bad." Kyra rubs her neck. "Last night reminded me that I need to tidy up ship a bit more! It's become quite a mess. Really theraputic, though." She half-grins, endeared by George's laid-back personality, "I-" he starts to walk, so she decides to walk alongside him, "I have been thinking about that. I feel like my way of thinking and doing things causes a lot of disagreements. Like, you know, last night. Or with the Glitch here. Given how many people disagree with me I've been starting to think that it's probably just.../me/ that's wrong."
Starbound Flotilla     George shoves his hands into his pockets for a while, listening to Kyra talk. His red eyes don't rest on her, but something about his posture suggests he's listening closely. "Mmm. Well, I wouldn't call it 'wrong'. It's different, sure, sometimes it's outweighed. Calling it wrong's not the way to go. Like one'a those coddly new schools! But that's not answering the question I was looking for. If we're gonna say disagreements are just, y'know, the normal thing that happens," He keeps his hands in his pockets, but makes a sort of casual, helpless shrug. "Then question's just, what about the disagreements is causing problems for you? Where's 'disagreement' turning into some troubles for ya?"
Kyra Hyral She too looks ahead, keeping track of where they are going so they don't do something silly like walk off the end of a catwalk. "What do you mean, coddly new schools?" she asks, completely failing to grok what he meant by that. But to the rest of the question, she's quick to speak up: "I feel like my disagreements are getting in everyone's way. Since I'm disagreeing and not cooperating with everyone else, then nothing moves forward. Or it does move forward and I don't really have a contribution. I feel...useless. Extraneous. I'm a troublemaker and ultimately, people just don't work with troublemakers in the long run."
Starbound Flotilla     "You kiddin' me, we're nothin' but troublemakers." George says, with an easygoing grin. He finishes off his cigarette, flicking it away and stomping on it as he walks. "You know the last time the Core Fleet's been unanimous about something?" He then shrugs. "I mean, do you? 'Cause, I don't. It's rare as all hell, kiddo. Fact is," He sighs heavily. "Stuff like that just happens. Only trouble is what people make of it. I mean, hell." He laughs a bit. "Look at the kinda trouble I bumble my ass into, you know? Rest'a you guys don't stop working with me. As for not makin' a contribution, ehhh! Wasn't a lot of contribution to make in that situation. I mean, we're just reading. Figure your caution's gotten Rory putting together some isolated virtual session stuff, probably."

"Suppose the 'not cooperating' is a thing, but I mean, we do got the rules for that. Infighting, stuff like that. Hell, remember down here when we split three and three for you? Even the Core Fleet does some infighting sometimes. It just happens. You gotta take it as a thing that you need to have to make the other bits, the bits where most people are in agreement, all working. Right?"
Kyra Hyral "Well, now that you mention it, no. Some of you guys really don't get along. Like Moonfin. Though let's be fair, George, I kinda like you. You're a pretty cool guy." Kyra points out, "Even if you are a jerk sometimes. I dunno if I'm really afforded the same thing, you know? But the not cooperating is a thing. I don't /want/ to infight though, is the thing." She falls silent then looks a little confused, "You mean we want the fighting and disagreements? I don't understand, doesn't that just create bad blood? And...yeah, I do remember that. I was happy to at least have some support. I mean....I'd like to get it to happen more often."
Starbound Flotilla     "Fishface and I actually go way back. I helpd him out of a jam back in the day, remind me sometime to tell you the story. But yeah, lotta us don't get along with one or two people. I mean, for my part, I think Albert's a piece of shit." George says, doing a sort of idle swirly gesture with one hand. "But, y'know, that's the thing. I'm kinda a jerk sometimes, sure! I fuck up and make some bad decisions, and -- let's be real -- I'm not exactly the /heroism/ type of guy." But then he gestures with one hand. "Think about it this way, kiddo. You got two options. One's a group that obligates itself to work together /all the time/, and then when it /can't/, it's not a group anymore. It's just nothing, all the people go their seperate ways." Then he gestures with the other. "And then the other, you've got the Flotilla. If everyone involved can't agree, they'll infight a little, sure. But we settle it under the rules. 'No kills, short of the real hardass situations. No hitting people outside the problem situation. No grudges; you leave your problems back where you had the fight'. And then, when the group can't work together, it'll still survive past that time. You get it?"
