Owner Pose
Athela Valemore Considering the typical populance stationed at Hikari they're probably pretty accustomed to atypical means of oceanic transport, right?

All the same a young woman in mediveal armor sailing up on the back of an equally armored, giant sealion-like creature, that due to the elongated blade-like prow on its helmet looks like it could do a mean narwhal impersonation, is probably still a bit up there on the scale of unusualness.

It was a port of something else entirely, and yet Athela could still see some similarity to the much older (in comparison) seaside wharfs she was more familiar with as they approached. "Well, now we just need to figure out where we are suppose to make land..." Her aquatic mount gives a barking sound that could be taken as a laugh in response. "Yes, it is much bigger than Tideport. Or even Bugen."
Nagato     Atypical means of transport are usually seen at this seaport, that is, if you consider women with boots skating on the water as an atypical mean of oceanic transport. They do get actual boats rarely but when the sealion-like creature comes surfing up towards the seaport, the tower sparks into action...

"Ooyodo to Admiral, your guest has arrived..." comes the internal speakers of the base towards the repair docks "Thank you Ooyodo, have her dock up on the west." A voice over the loudspeaker for the entire base, "Visitor, please make your way to the west, we have docks there for normal... and some abnormal vessels." the voice isn't the same one Athela's heard over the Union radios though.

"The Admiral will be out shortly. All command personell, report to the west docks.."
Athela Valemore Athela Valemore looks up at the shouting?... No, shouting through something. She's started to pick up on the slight difference that comes from speaking on a device. Some means of shouting to the entire facility instead of having sailors pass a message along from one side of port to the other? Would take some of the confusion that can result from mishearing a shout away.

She grabs one of the prongs on the neck armor of her oceanic stead with a hand. "You heard the... voice, Lancer. Westward!" Samurott barks in reply, whiskers bristling back as he lowers his head closer to the water to keep stability as he banks a bit for the turn, Athela leaning the same in almost perfect sync.

As they near the dock it becomes apparent there is actually two forms upon the armored creature's backside -- Athela herself, and a shorter form that looks more the characture of a humanoid than an actual human with a large board slung across his back. As they near the indicated dock she gives the second being a nudge with her elbow. "Mizzen, help line us in to dock would you?" "Bu?" The almost goblinesque 'mon opens an eye to peer past her, then nods. "Timburr!" Unfurling one of the vines coiled about his arm, the length is snapped towards the approaching dock to grab one of the supports, and help guide the larger sea-creature up to the docks.

Lacking better, Athela just holds up one hand aside her mouth to try and make it a bit more audible. "We shall make shore shortly, thank you!" Assuming there is a source to the loud voice to actually hear the response.
Nagato     The west docks seem to be empty-ish... devoid of classic ships and other vessels and the foot traffic of the area is quite low in of itself. There are a few girls that walk by, some in orange clothes, some in blue, and some wearing sailor fuku. Sendai and Jintsu, Atago and Takao, Furutaka and Kako... The arrival of the sea creature... and its passengers, has the six girls stop and take a look, with Atago speaking up, "Looks like the Admiral has a visitor. Come girls, let's wait for the Admiral."

It doesn't take too long though, after the request, that four more women, taller than the six already there, make their way towards the docks, an almost imposing pose from at least two of them is shown. "Musashi, Yamato, Mutsu. Our guest. Let's be ready to greet her." and with a nod from all three, Nagato steps forward, awaiting Athela's disembarking of her conveyance. Once this happens. "Welcome to Hikari Seaport." comes the four in unison, with Nagato stepping forward. "I am Admiral Nagato, it's a pleasure to have you on base."
Athela Valemore Once they pull up to the dock Athela stands and debarks from her 'vessel' with the promptness of someone at least familiar with such seafaring practicies. Though the sounds of stepping onto metal or concrete instead of wood still keeps throwing her off, half the time it sounds like she's walking on someone's armor, but she's been slowly adjusting. Looks like they've already got quite an audience as well.

The Timburr clamours after her, and once both are off their transport, surprisingly or not surprisingly depending on what you're expecting, uses forelimbs and a bit of tail push to hoist himself out of the water and onto the dock as well.

Ah, there is the voice she reconizes from the radio, after the chorus of greeting. Athela makes a polite bow in return, Pokemon dipping their heads in approximation of the gesture as well. "It is an honor to be allowed the visit, Admiral." As she uprights again she gives her cloak a light sway to swish it back behind her where it belongs. "This is.. quite different from the ports of sea I am familiar with."
Nagato     Nagato's stoic face slowly comes into a grin, looking at the couple of Pokemon nearby Athela. "I assure you that, even if it's different, things will be the same. Most buildings from traditional seaports are still active here, such as repair docks, launch bays, barracks et.al. are in use. You will, however, see a few things unique to this Fleet." The bow from not only Athela but the Pokemon get a curious look from the command ships in front.

Musashi steps forward, "Second of the Yamato class battleships, Musashi. Your allies are well trained for respect, it's rare to see such. Welcome to the base."

Mutsu comes in next, "Second of the Nagato-class battleships, sister ship to Nagato. Mutsu~, a pleasure!"

Finally Yamato steps forward, "Nameship of the Yamato class battleships, Yamato. Welcome to our home."

"These three are my next in commands. Musashi is my second with Mutsu and Yamato as equal partners below. Us four run a tight port of over one hundred women from Destroyers to Battleships. If you have questions, we can answer them during the tour. What area would you wish to visit first?"
Athela Valemore "Coordination and disipline is as important with pokemon as it is with any other defensive force, as I am sure you are well aware of," Athela replies, letting a small smile of her own show. "It is not just a matter of work or battle, man and pokemon live aside each other for a common future." Nagato goes through her crew, one by one, and each is given a nod in return.

Well, suppose that would mean it is her turn to return the favor, yes?

Athela puts a hand on the back of the larger pokemon's neck. "As you saw Lancer here is not only my trusted mon-at-arms, but my brave steed as well." Then gestures to the other with her opposite hand. "Mizzen once belonged to a shipwright, but has long since performed for me as any squire would." She turns her head a little and gives a short whistle. Her cloak can be seen ruffling a bit as something moves in the pack beneath it, before a small fox-like face pops out from under it with a tiny yawn. Over the other shoulder a lavanderish colored.. blob, or maybe it's a slug of some kind. "And this would be Slurry," The slug-blob burbles and jiggles in some approximation of happiness, "And Sprite." "Veeee!"

That gets introductions out of the way. And probably starts a lot of eyeing at Eevee's inherent cuteness. "Well, it is your station, I believe it would be best for you to lead way as you see fit."
Nagato     "Coordination and Discipline is important, yes. I'm pleased to hear this come from someone else." Nagato gives a brief nod, listening to the 'Trainer' in front of her. "So these creatures are not only assistants but companions as well? I don't think I've seen a... pokemon before now." she comments, turning a bit towards her companions, then back at Athela.

Nagato and Co. listen to the returned introductions, Nagato already knew Athela but her companions, she knew nothing about. Each get the same amount of attention, a brief nod when Lancer and Mizzen are introduced, but when the Eevee pokes its head out with that yawn, Nagato chokes up a bit... the three behind her snrk slightly.

"Y..yes. They look like wonderful companions." she states, trying to regain composure, only to lose a bit more from the burbling and the 'vee'. "Hng..." cough... "Ahem.. Yes, you're right. We'll show you around the exterior of the base and then enter through the barracks to show the interior. This right here is the western docks, used for more conventional vehicles traveling through the water needing to dock.. and to the north, you'll see the Hikari Airstrip. It's currently still in repair." there's quite a few girls working on the landing strip, pickaxes, hammers and other tools to repair tarmac in hands. Most seem to be wearing kyudo uniforms.

"Continuing along, we have the main tower where my radio operator Ooyodo is." 'Hello!' comes Ooyodo's voice over the intercom. "She provides our long range radar for immediate threats to the land base."
Athela Valemore There may be the slightest hint of a smirk at Nagato attempting to keep down her reaction, before Athela resumes her casual composure. That's not an uncommon reaction to seeing Eevees. "These two are not frontline combatants. But Sprite is my tracker, and Slurry can squeeze into small places with his, uh," idly she smudges some of the green drippage from where the Goomy is sitting on her shoulder off a pauldron. "Sliminess." Brushes her hand off on a thigh guard nonplussed, this is probably a common occurance with training such a creature. "But yes. Companions, colleagues, many the term for such a relationship."

The little entourage follows after Nagato and her crew. "Airstrip?" The term is unfamiliar, but 'air' would imply something to do with the skies, or prehaps... "Aah, a place for your Flying trainers to land? Or those... 'aircraft' Toph warned me of." The blind girl didn't seem fond of bringing up flying. The tools the girls are using, at least, are familiar. Some things don't change even when modern progress does.

They do pause at the tower for a moment, Athela holding a hand above her eyes as she tries to look up. "The tower for your overwatch, then. A sentry against raiders. Or irrate sea monsters." No, that last part isn't a joke. Just look at Tentacruel. Or Gyarados.
Nagato     Ahem. "Airstrip, it's where we will store and launch our aircraft, fighter planes, land based attack bombers. We aren't... Pokemon trainers, so we don't have anything like that here..." unfortunately, Nagato would fill that office of hers with anything cute. "Those women are part of my aircraft carrier division. Perhaps I shall show you a sortie when the time is right." she gives a brief nod, looking towards the other three, "Go let Mamiya know we'll have company for lunch." and with a saulte, the three women part from Nagato.

"Yes, for our overwatch. We've had to deal with... raiders and irate sea monsters." Kind of an apt description to the Fleet's enemies... "She's also repsonsible for contacts between our base and other sea ports around for protection and other duties." with a nod, "Some of our destroyers assist with that." as she says that, four kids run right past... Hibiki, Akatsuki, Ikazuchi and Inazuma... "That's Destroyer Division Six. One of the more reliable divisions around the base."

Nagato turns around and continues on, showing off the main launch bay.. "This is where my Fleet and I sortie from. There's a total of nine launch bays there, six for the fleet, three for certain special humans." she states, "It knows who is who when we're stepping on the launch pad. There are no planned sorties or expeditions today, so we won't be seeing a launch from it."
Athela Valemore It's likely a good thing Athela has already been to the main Union base, so this isn't -entirely- out of her capability to grasp. Still. Despite hearing a lot of words she doesn't understand, she knows enough about the seas and sailing to get a general impression of it. Already knowing that those girls running by are actually spirits of great ships in human form helps with not being completely confused when Nagato goes into deploying launches and sorties.

Needless to say, the launch bay is a lot fancier than the wharfs she grew up around. Yet, she can see the influence. Old methods, tried and trusted, done in new ways. These 'machines' doing a lot of the work shipwrights and pokemon would do. "Back home the ships still go by sail and wave. Primarily fishers and traders, though even they keep trained pokemon at hand if defense is needed."
Nagato     "Sail and wave? Perhaps they're very old wooden ships. I've seen them used a few times." she coughs, "One of them was flying, much to my surprise." she shakes her head, looking towards the launch bay. "So, even if you're ships are raided, you can still fight back, these pokemon sound like the old ships cats of my time." she chuckles a bit and heads along. "I believe we should continue. The barracks are to the left, they house the majority of our girls, the repair baths, seperated by ship class, is in there as well."

Continuing on, there's a small peir with a single girl on it... "Hmm, I wonder what she's doing out." said girl is dressed all in grey and looks quite pale. "That is Akitsumaru, my transport ship. She's been an ally to me. But continuing on, my office is on the top floor, near the Tower. And if we continue down this way, our resource storage area will come into view." Said storage area is quite a few very large buildings, about as tall as the Tower. "Each of those contains fuel oil, ammunition, bauxite and steel, our four main resources. Akashi's workshop is the smaller building near there and the armory is larger and is slowly being relocated underground after a raid happened."
Athela Valemore "That would be correct, yes," Athela replies with a nod. "Well not old to us, but yes. So far only man and pokemon bear armor, not our ships." Partially because it is still a lot of labor and time just to get metal in the first place. "Different areas of Bayern specialize in mining, or forging, and the operations between regions take time and considerable monetary resources... Hmm?"

Athela stops and glances back a moment as her Timburr stops and starts poking the wall with his board. She sighs a little, and reachs over to grab said board before he can try something harder like swing it. "Mizzen, no. I know you mean well, but no testing the structural durability." There's a huff in response to her, but he nods and tucks the board back into the vines wrapped around his back and torso.

"I'm sorry. Timburr are trained for labor, usually by shipwrights and carpenters. So they have a habit of wanting to test how durable materials are." Athela gives a little shrug as she continues to follow. Steel, ammunition (different types of weapon than crossbows but same concept).. fuel oil sounds like someone an alchemist would concoct... "Bauxite?" It's the one that's most unfamiliar to her. "Underground is a good choice. The less ways a bandit can get to your stores, the better."
Nagato     "Perhaps the next stop on my vacation will be Bayern if you'll have me." she nods, "It sounds like a good place in most parts." she hmms softly, looking towards the Timburr, shaking her head as it's caught and pulled away. "I doubt it can do much against the buildings there. But yes, I'm not about to experiment with that, considering that building he was about to smack had the fuel for the base in it." though when she mentions bauxite as something unfamiliar...

"It's aluminium, used for some of the aircraft here. Our carriers use it exclusively though anyone who can launch planes get some access to it. It's a tightly guarded resource due to ... two of the carriers on base." she sighs at this... Akagi and Kaga both use a horridly heavy amount of Bauxite. "There's nothing to apologize about, it's a new place so curiosities are natural." She taps her foot a bit, where to go next.

"The mess hall is inside, where everyone eats, at least those who wish to stay on base. There's a warp gate near by for those who want to have some off base food, but here, I prefer Mamiya and Irako cooking."
Athela Valemore Athela Valemore is slowly puzzling this out as they go. "... It is a lighter metal then?" She finally surmises. "Like how Skarmory have lighter metal in their feathers to fly than other Steel types do." She's at least getting a hang of putting things into her own terms she can understand. Or at least somewhat compare to.

She snorts softly, keeping down a laugh as the warpgate is mentioned. "I would say I feel silly for taking the long way getting here, but a good sail never did one harm." Samurott barks from the back of the group. "Well, yes, unless it is storming. Different circumstances."
Nagato     It takes Nagato a moment.. Skarmory? "Ah, yes. It allows our planes to fly similar to a bird. If that's what a Skarmory is." she is slowly trying to peice together things from her world and from what she knows from reports. "Though, perhaps I should see this Skarmory..." she shakes her head, looking towards the Samurott as it barks. "Well, my apologizes for assuming everyone knew about them." she gives a brief chuckle and she starts walking again, "Tell me more about your world, if you don't mind."
Athela Valemore "A rather large bird, yes. Beak sharp enough to punch through lesser armor if one is not careful." Athela easily falls in step with Nagato and pokemon following behind. "Feathers like daggers, very territorial. Alas, I have not one myself to show you or I would."

Oh, where to start. Athela has been over this in her head a dozen times, yet when the time comes she's not entirely sure. But not the time to dwaddle on the matter. "I am told other worlds would refer to Bayern as being the 'Dark Ages', or 'Age of Chivaltry'. Our land was crafted by the Legendary gods for man and pokemon alike, but that fiend Regigigas got jealous and spiteful, wanting the world only for itself and it's illgotten Hollow spawn. Thus it falls to brave souls as myself to fight these evils at the behest of our watchful deities."
Nagato     Nagato gives a brief nod at the description of the bird, "Sounds like one I would rather not want to deal with." she comments, turning her head to Athela. Nagato's walking along the path around, with some girls doing some jogging around to keep their excercise up. "Tama. Keep up the good work."

    "Okay, nya."

Then the talks of Bayern start and she hmms, "I've read about the Dark Ages, not a pleasant time mostly." she comments as an aside to the first bit, listening intently. "So, it would be apt to call you a holy warrior or a knight championed to your deity?" she questions, "And I assume this Regigigas ... is a pokemon of some sort? Sounds almost like our Abyssal ships here in my world..."
Athela Valemore Athela Valemore turns her head a bit to watch the girls pass, hmmhmming softly. "Your soldiers do well to keep themselves in shape I see."

But that's not the important part of the conversation, as she quickly shifts back to her present company. "I will not deny that there are not aspects we could do without, but we do as we must. And that would be accurate, yes. One of the recruiters referred to me as a 'paladin', if that makes more sense." One hand goes to rest idly on the hilt of her sword as such topics come up. "Although my Patron is ... obscure, one could say. All the Swords of Justice have regions of Bayern dedicated to their following; Keldeo's was the coast, being the stallion of the seas. But over time the nobility of the region got wrapped up in their own greed and prominance," she pauses, sighing softly. "When the isolated island begain insisting on only trading with those whom revere their Legendary, Manaphy, the nobles pressed forth changes to keep that route of prosperity open to them, pushing Keldeo to obscurity and causing greater rifts between the upper and lower classes."

And then she just frowns sharply. "Pokemon other otherwise, Regigigas is a monster. A giant, spitefuly child of a monster. Fortunately it remains sealed away, but it's spawn, the Trio of lesser Regis and their Hollowed Curse plague the good people."
Nagato     Nagato gives a brief nod, "It's part of a daily regimine. Base maintenance and personal exercise. I do my best to make sure they stay this way." a pause, "I prefer to refer to them as my daughters in a sense, than soldiers. Each have their own lives to live on base as well." she gives a nod, watching a few more go by.

"Paladin does make sense, yes." she comments, listening, "Swords of Justice? If Keldeo's one, then, how many more are there?" going back to listening, she hmms, shaking her head, "So they pushed one god away for another one, for profit..." she shakes her head and sighs, "So how are you working to fix that issue at hand?"
Athela Valemore "Four, when Keldeo is included. The Swords were the ones that helped teach man and pokemon to fight together during the war to defeat Regigigas. Afterward, Xerneas, the God of Life, tasked them with watching over lifekind as they rebuilt." Athela pauses, starting to count off on her fingers. "Verizion is the guardian of forest and nature, watching over Holzfall where many of the farming communities lie. Terrakion, the guardian of stone and earth, is keeper of Saltburg and the mines of the Alpis Mountains. Colbalion, the Elder and leader, resides over Konigburg, home to master smiths and aspiring scholars. Keldeo was the youngest of the group, and given the less volatile at the time coastal region, as he originally came from the depths from uncertain means, given the form of a land creature to aid in the fight against Regigigas."

Legendary creature rising from the ocean depths and taking a terrestrial form, specifically that of a equine... Sounds a lot like the kelpie or similar such myths doesn't it?

Athela pauses, brushing her hand back through her hair, and having to readjust her headpiece afterward. "The issue was that Manaphy... well, Manaphy cares little for the ways of the surface. But the people of Bugen Isle, isolated and distance, took this as peacefulness. The nobles pushed for its worship instead because the rare goods from the island, along with the fish and other seaborne resources, is where they made their wealth trading with the inland regions. Without a god caring for peace and justice to ensure balance is kept, the social rifts only grew, and Manaphy does nothing still."

Having rested on it all this time, now her hand actually grabs and draws the back-pronged sword from her side, holding it out dramatically. Though at an upward angle so no one actually steps into it. "But every task I partake and person I aide, helps make Keldeo's name known once more. Hopefully one day the people will realize the error of their leaders and take back their proper guardian." With a smooth practiced motion she inverts the sword and slides it back into its spot at her side. "Until then, we make the best of it. Keldeo has no defined region, and I am not of a noble's blood and thus need not walk my path to any of theirs. I can go where I am needed, be it Bayern or the rest of this Multiverse, to aide those whom need it most."
Nagato     Nagato's keeping mental notes of this woman's speech, giving a nod here and there with each region and keeper assigned to it. She helpfully stays silent during this exchange, she continues to take in everything that she is saying. Multiversal worlds are interesting to her, in addition to a world that has a feudal social structure, it's an interesting thing to hear. Much more interesting is the Pokemon. Nagato does, however, try to lean down and pet the Eevee though.

    It's cuteness cannot be denied.

"I believe you will achieve that goal, Valemore." she starts, "And if you are in need of assistance, I will be glad to offer my services." she starts, watching the flourshing of the sword, a beautiful weapon, compared to the brutish double headed axe the Admiral carries. "Perhaps being not of noble's blood is more than a boon for you then. You can apply all your efforts, call on assistance from others in times of need."
Athela Valemore "That is the way I prefer to look at it, yes," Athela replies with a nod. "Being but one woman and her companions has some advantages. The other Swords have entire militias under their champions.... but unless it is something of dire as an invasion, they only focus on keeping those regions safe. We have no such bounderies to worry about... And considering nobility was part of the problem in times past..." She's being polite and not going into some of the things she -could- say.

Eevee, on the other hand, is not about to complain about petting. The little fox of fluff scoots to the end of Athela's shoulder to be easier to reach, chrring softly.

The redhaired knight gives a whistful sigh. "It is hard to be melodramatic with an Eevee present." She clasps her hands together. "So, about that lunch? I am curious to see what kinds of foods other lands procure."
