Morrigan      Mars is a red coin hanging behind the Indus and Yangtze as they maneuver for a set of practice drills.

It's a simple matter. Sorensen's Indus and his fighters against Kyrematen's Yangtze and her fighters. Real tactics, simulated rounds. The loss of the Agincourt seems to have driven Steele to ground, but anyone who has followed the war knows that such a reprieve is only temporary.

So, the Wargods need to keep their edge.

Simms, Laporte and Levi plus about half a dozen others sit tight in their Uhlans, rolling around the Indus like guardian birds. Ng'Mei and Olefumi, with a similar respective amount of friends, match the Yangtze.

The question is, where are the Elites settling in?
Zephyr Windstar     Zephyr's here. Not in a fighter, like all the other times she's joined the UEF forces. She seems to have sided with the Indus, keeping station with Laporte on their left wing. She's using her Device in Windshear form, the large battleax looking massive beside the young woman, even though she's pretty tall for a female. "So what's the plan? Wait for them to move, or should we strike first?" she asks, then asides to her Device through the telepathic link TSAB mages use. <Dee, make sure you're holding back.>

The Device chimes indignantly. <Stun Mode is locked.> it replies.
Kotone Yamakawa Mars? On her world it was empty of the works of man, save for a very stubborn roaver and a few decaying probes. Here it was totally another sort of situation given the state that mars is here? It was time for sims again, Kotone was and she was of all things looking for a port she could jack into, with the simulator. Given her lack of experiance it would be useful to make use of what edges she did have. She knows she's not as an experianced pilot but she does pack abilities that are not exactly common in this world if they exist at all.
Alexis Maaka     Maaka's currently in formation with Laporte and the others, seated in her Uhlan fighter while they flitter about around the Indus. "I'm just waiting to see who does make the first act." She comments over local comms. Her ship's got custom nose-art, some cute girl in a very form fitting suit that looks like something out of a cyberpunk art-book.

It might be Kotone, it might not be.
Morrigan      The Yangtze rolls to bear, the Karuna-class' four spinal gauss cannons locking up the her opposing number. The Indus turns head on, presenting a smaller targer profile, and the sensor displays of every fighter light up with simulated torpedo launches from each frigate.

The Yangtze's fighter complement splits into two groups, sweeping from the port and starboard sides of their mothership.

Simms gives the order, and the Indus' fighter corps sweeps in as the Indus' simulated flak battery opens up.
Zephyr Windstar     Battle is joined. Her own HUD lights up with the simulated alerts and target profiles. "Battle is joined then. Copy all points. Blitz One, Engaging." she 'wings over' and turns into the fray, rolling and jinking through the simu-flak barrage. She turns her eyes over every available mark, locking them into Divine Wind's targetting system. <IMPULSE CASCADE. TYPHOON SHIFT!> chimes the Device, as a multitude of light balls appear around the mage. A tiny target, one that would be engulfed by a flak blast if she weren't careful, but one that's proven time and again to be the equal of a Cruiser in firepower. "Fangs out. Fire!"

If space transmitted sound, and likely, through the cockpit simulators, the light balls blast out with muted pulses of kinetic force. Each one like a railgun slug... though if they hit, the energy just fizzles away into nothing, registering 'hits' on the simulation computers.
Alexis Maaka     Spectre takes off to join up with Sorensen upon orders being given. She begins to head towards a concentration of the torpedoes, firing off a few bursts of vulcan cannon fire from her custom Uhlan.

She's allowed to modify her ships, right? RIGHT?!

"Guns guns guns, firing towards enemy torpedo barrage!" Spectre reports calmly.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa does take note of the nose art on Alexis' fighter and she can't help but smiles a bit at it and then shemakes ready to form up with her allies for the fight though she know she's goingto be in more of a support role but she's all riht with it with it as she makes ready and intend to keep with Alexis for this whole thing as she move to engage. She'll open fire now as she bamks in but the main function she's doing is starting up some electonic warfare.
Morrigan Between Kotone's electronic warfare and Alexis' fire support, the Yangtze's first wave of torpedoes doesn't get through. But Kyrematen's frigate spits out another simulated barrage, and another - an unending torrent of torpedoes.

Unfortunately for Alexis, a pair of Olefumi's wingmen break off and drop in on her, moving for a good firing position. Ogre and Cobalt.

Meanwhile, as the Indus hammers the Yangtze with a series of simulated blows, damage reports coming in indicating some armor fatigue, Karen's strike slips past the Indus' flak barrier, moving to hit the Indus' weapons. Some of them do, at least - Zephyr chalks up Nightlight, Cyanide and Mulch.

Simms and Laporte get on top of the four that made it through, but Karen's mind is that of an experienced tactician and it's clear that she's maneuvering her own commands to split Laporte and her squadron leader. She's the one her taught Simms her tricks, after all, and the Yangtze denmother is still a fierce opponent!
Alexis Maaka     "Tangos on my six. Blitz One, need backup!" Spectre reports over radio, growling under her breath as she tries to make herself a difficult target for the Wingmen. The Uhlan makes a nimble roll as Spectre pops anti-lock countermeasures to defend herself from the opponents, while trying to get herself a lock on them in return.
Zephyr Windstar     <Confirming. Three targets neutralized.> announces Divine Wind.

Then Spectre calls in for assistance. Zephyr does a quick sweep scan of the area, locking onto the dogfight between Specture and the two bandits on her tail. "Copy that, turn to 251 point 128 mark 003, help me engage!"

She blasts forward, bringing her axe around, holding it forwards like a cannon, which proves true, as the head 'cranks' open, and begins to spin, gathering energy, until she can get right in on Cobalt's tail, unloading a torrent of energy pellets into the aft shields of the Uhlan. <CYCLONE BURSTER!>
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa is doing what she can to support herr allires, she banks back and move to try and help out Alexis and try to get in behind on them in turn she'll end up firing off several missiles from her fighter as she attempts to support her long time friend.
Morrigan      Luckily for Maaka, Ogre and Cobalt are good but they're not best-of-the-Wargods-good. They might land some hits on her but nothing that tells her Uhlan's systems that, hey, you're dead. Still, two on one aren't good oods, and even as Maaka evades and rolls and fires off chaffs, it gets hectic.

And then Cobalt blinks off the screens as Zephyr tags her from behind. It shouldn't be too hard to take down Ogre now, especially with Kotone's missiles on his tail.

Around the Indus, Simms and Karen duel while Levi and Laporte tangle with the denmother's wingmen. A few of the Indus' turrets stop firing as Karen's attack picks them off.
Alexis Maaka     Spectre takes the advantage Zephyr gives her, as the cyborg's Uhlan takes off to chase Ogre. "C'mon, mate, don't make me beg now..." She boosts hard, taking the shot as she fires off a large volley of vulcan fire to the fire. Simulated, of course. She's not fighting for real, but she's certainly making it a convincing facade.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa uis going to back off for the moment as she beefs up her information warfare attacks. She'll bew trying to mess with the other team's comms to make communication harder and she can't help but wonder. How did she end up being from a bystander to the rest of the universe at large, to this?
Morrigan      Ogre's one of the better pilots but even he eats a volley of vulcan fire and his sensor icon goes dark, out of the fight.

And then someone sets in on Spectre's six. Olefumi, Karen's second, and maybe the second best pilot on the Yangtze.

The Indus and Yangtze close to close range while Karen and her wing continue to duel with the Indus' fighter wing. Levi seems to have been picked off, but Simms and Laporte are bleeding Karen's fighters with incredible precision and terrifying efficiency.
Zephyr Windstar     With Spectre now clear and in a much better position, the Mage starts taking a more aggressive pose. She calls in her plan, then wings over and transforms her Device to Mistral form, the large axe shrinking down, and a pair of support 'Bits' forming nearby her. <BOOSTER FORMATION.> chimes Divine Wind, as the Bits move to 'latch' onto the Mage's back, boosting her speed and maneuverability.

She decides to stay out of the banter, instead focussing on evading the flak bursts and AA fire from the Yangtze as she gets in close to the hull. <MAELSTROM BUSTER. TEMPEST SHIFT. TARGETS LOCKED. COORDINATES ARE SPECIFIC!> announces Divine Wind, as the torpedo tubes light up in Zephyr's field of vision. The end of the shorter axe lights up and, with a bark of "FIRE!" unleashes those dark purple beams of destruction the Wargods would have seen many times before. Again, like the light bullets earlier, they fizzle out in impact, translating the 'damage' into the simulation system.
Alexis Maaka     "Eat it!" Maaka has her laugh, before she's got her fun spoiled by Olefumi. "Shiiiiit..." She knows how good Olefumi is, and she proceeds to make evasive maneuvers. "Like hell am I gonna let you get me that easily, Ole..." She growls, making a hard bank to try and confuse the pilot's targeting.
Morrigan      Olefumi keeps tight and close, rifling shots around Maaka's fighter - which is probably why the hard bank throws him for a second or two. Will it be enough to take him out of the fight?

The Indus and the Yangtze end up passing each other, broadside batteries opening up with simulated fire. Typically, the two frigates would be evenly matched. But it is Zephyr that swings the battle in the favor of Sorensen's Indus as the Yangtze takes a simulated pounding from Zephyr's beams.

It looks like it decides the engagement, really, but there's still a few moments where Maaka might be able to catch Olefumi and chalk up a Yangtze ace.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa knows she's just a supprotinmg sort and that's what she's going to do and try to not end up getting taken out int his furball she watches the other pilots do their thing while she's loking for weakness but it seems the battle is over or almost so but she's not getting cocky about that. That's how you get killed or end up a cyborg.
Alexis Maaka     Spectre keeps calm, before she lets her instincts and internal targeting systems linked to her ships' take over as she begins to fire upon Olefumi with a sim-missile once she catches him in her sights. All she needs is but a second at most to bag herself another target, ace or no.

By the time she's finished, she's panting pretty hard, her heart thumping from the exhilaration alone.
Zephyr Windstar     Zephyr comes up, pulling verticle and arresting her speed as the capital ships pass, and the simulation comes to an end. "Confirming three kills, and multiple subsystem disables. Efficiency rating, 83%."

Divine Wind chimes softly. <Improvement over previous combat simulations. Well Done, Master.>
