Toph Beifong     No, she can't say she feels too optimistic about this. But then again, Peridot is a friend. And Toph finds it hard to deny the green gem goblin the opportunity to give her fellow gem the chance she was given.

Preparations have been done though, which should be evident to Peridot as Toph has been showing off some sturdy bending as she has created an underground chamber for this very purpose. It's reinforced with metal in places, effective durasteel that can withstand great physical force but still respond to the will of the metalbender who put them there.

It's mostly dark in the bunker, though Toph trusts that Peridot brought her own lightsource if she wants one. For now Toph stands ready, cracking her knuckles as she breathes calmly.

"Okay," she begins, her tone serious. "I'm gonna restrain her with metal as soon as she's unbubbled and reforms, and you use your technological stuff too so we can keep her still." Hopefully their combined efforts will be enough to keep Jasper still, because somehow the blind teen doesn't think the large quartz will be happy about waking up here like this.
Peridot Fortunately Peridot had a built-in lightsource on her forehead. A beam of  light emitted from her gem bathing the area in front of her with lime green glow. She held Jasper's gem carefully within it's bubble. "Alright... so..." She inhaled deeply. "This is a bad idea and she's going to be super super angry." She looks to Toph. "But today isn't about making some kind of breakthrough... it's just. Well, you have to test your boosters before you install them on a gem ship."

"You only have a brief window to capture her. I'm not sure if you've ever seen a gem reform. First she will glow, then her basic shape will get constructed. That is your window. She won't be fully conscious, and there is a brief period of disorientation following a reform." She sets the bubble in the air, where it floats when she let's go. "I should know. I reformed after the Pearl speared me in the chest."

"So. Try not to... uhm... antagonize her too much." Peridot cautions. "She is quite literally one of the most physically powerful gem types there is, short of the diamonds."
Toph Beifong     Somehow it appears that Toph can't help but give Peridot a deadpan look at her comment. "Angry? Really, I would never have guessed..." Better get the snark out of her system before they do this. Obviously she's never seen a gem reform, but she knows that once she 'sees' Jasper, she will be grabbing her with metal. So Toph nods and points towards an area where there are metalbeams protruding from the floor.

"Put her there by the metal, and don't worry. I'll let you handle most of the talking. I'm not interested in a fight today. I already know she's goddamn strong." Toph nods, signalling that she's ready, holding out her hands towards the metal, ready to bend.
Peridot "Okay hang on.. I just gotta.. get the jitters out." Peridot says before shaking her hands a bit front of herself. She then starts running in place, her feet pattering against the stone floor at a fast rate. "Jitters... OUT... Jitters... OUT... Jitters.... OUT." She chants, clenching her fist by her sides. "OUT OUT OUT OUT. Jitterbending powers... activate!" She jumps a few times and then stops.

"....Okay. I'm ready. Let's do this." She takes the bubble and saunters over to the place Toph indicated.

She looks down at the tiny gem. Small compared to the massive gem it created. "You better appreciate all this effort one day." She murmurs, before she begins to apply pressure. The bubble begins to deform as Peridot squeezes it, until finally it pops, releasing Jaspers gem.

Peridot then immediately flees away from it, and hides behind Toph. "Okay...! Now.. we wait!"
Jasper      Jasper's gem hits the ground in a rather unceremonious manner. It lies there for a moment or two, like any other more mundane gem across the multiverse, and one might wonder if she's going to ever reform.

At that moment, there's a bright white light, tinged with a golden glow, and the suggestion of a huge form within it. Arms, legs, a huge mane of hair... Moving, shifting, fingers digging into the stone floor of the bunker. Fingers that break the stones as they clench into the ground.
Toph Beifong     There's a focused look on Toph's face as Peridot unbubbles Jasper's gem, and she remains standing still and ready while the green gem runs to hide behind her. It's a good thing that Toph is used to waiting, all senses alert as she waits for any movement, any sign that Jasper's body is reshaping. She's ready! Peridot might notice it, how Toph breathes slowly, though she's slightly tense where she stands.

The moment Jasper's fingers dig into the ground, Toph's eyes widen and she moves her hands quickly. In response the metal obeys, the durasteel creaking as it seeks to wrap itself around Jasper. Her arms and legs, her waist, her neck.... for now the metalbender will do what she can to keep her as immobile as possible!
Peridot Peridot grimaces as she sees the light form of Jasper begin to reform and take hold. She forgot just how big the Quartz soldier was. She hadn't seen her in such a long time. She grips Toph by her shoulders, peeking out from behind the metalebender.

Peridot suddenly begin to feel like was in over her head.
Jasper      In a literal flash, Jasper is there - all broad shoulders, huge muscles, wild hair and titanic height. She seems to take a moment to collect her bearings, which gives Toph the opportunity to strike.

Jasper hits the ground, bound with durasteel wrapping around her limbs. She growls, pulling at her arms and legs like a bear yanking on a chain. Her wild eyes run left and right, until she sights Toph. "You."

     And then Peridot. "YOU!"
Toph Beifong     It's clear that Toph is using all her strength to keep the metal strong as she fights against Jasper's brute strength. No trash talking, no gloating. It should be clear from looking at the metalbender that she thinks of this as serious business. And she doesn't mind being a shield for Peridot either, a firm presence that seems as determined as strong as ever despite her being way smaller than Jasper.

It certainly sounds like the large gem is angrier at her former ally though, which is understandable. Homeworld gems look upon humans as inferior, and this is hardly a time to argue about that. Now it's the time for talk.

"Okay Peridot, you wanted to talk with her? Talk." Because there's a limit to how long she will be able to keep Jasper still. Even if Toph has stamina, she's still a human.
Peridot Peridot gulps as beads of sweat fall down her face, before she clenches her shut. She speaks in a hushed tone, Toph may overhear her, but Jasper cannot.  "Okay Peridot you practiced this... You've been rehearsing this over and over.  Everything is memorized. you can do it. Just stick to the script." She murmurs before stepping out from behind Toph.

"HEEEEY." She starts finger snapping and pointing at Jasper. "You." She takes a small step forward. "Guess who has two opposeable touch stumps and wants to help you shake off years of indoctrinated hair washing from the diamonds?" She points at herself with her thumbs. "This geeeeem."

    Nailed it.

"How are you feeling?" she goes on, biting her lower lip. "Are the chains too tight? I mean we can't fix that, right now but hey uh- I just want to talk for a while. You know, check in." She taps her pointer fingers together, looking down at the floor. "I feel pretty bad about how we last left things. So I uh.. yeah. First of all. Super sorry, about the whole stabbing you in the back thing." She goes on. "I mean I know, right? It wasn't just a metaphorical stab in the back. I literally and figuratively stabbed your back. I kinda had to though, you were out of control! But, I still wanted you to know. It was my bad."
Jasper      She doesn't slow, she doesn't stop. Jasper rails against her bonds over and over again, putting Toph's metalbending against her sheer naked refusal to be bound. Her words to Peridot come out like guttural, choking growls as a result. "YOU CHEATED!" Jasper roars. "I'm not surprised! A mere Peridot - trying to defeat a Quartz soldier? Hah!"

She makes a fist, slams it against the ground, and tries to lever her body upwards. "You'll feel worse when I shatter you," Jasper says, her voice a promise of uncalculated violence. "You stabbed me in the back - so, I'll shatter you from the front! Where's Lapis?! Where's Rose!? Did she send you here to destroy me?!"
Peridot "Well I don't really want to talk about who cheated, or who's going to shatter who in a rage-filled fervor." Peridot takes an uneasy step back. "How about we just agree to put all that messy business behind us." she says indicating with her hands that she was pushing things to the side. "Go with a relatively fresh start eh?"

Stick to the plan. Stick the plan.

"You remember that time we raided that sea port? And you fought uh.." She snaps her fingers as she looks up in thought. "The Ratman. The guy who flew around. The three of us, you me and Lazuli, had no idea what was going on and all, just going around attacking sea ports! We blew up some stuff, and ran away with engines. A successful mission! And I was all, 'You have no chance!' on a big view port. Probably scaring the daylights out of those boat-humans."

    "You remember that?"
Toph Beifong     Wait, she's got a /script/?!

Even if it doesn't show on Toph's face, she's inwardly groaning at the words Peridot chose to begin with. "It's /brain/ washing," she mutters under her breath for Peridot's ears only.

Struggle as she might, she might notice that Toph doesn't budge, her small arms strong, and she lets out a slightl grunt as the large quartz tries to get off of the floor.

"No shattering here today. Just listen to Peridot, okay?" Toph suggests calmly. Fortunately Peridot isn't completely freaking out...
Jasper      Peridot can see Jasper thinking. She can probably picture the cogs turning inside that huge head of hers. They turn slowly, of course, but they do turn. "I remember," Jasper says, and even that sounds like a threat of some kind.

Toph's calm suggestion earns her a glare. Jasper says, "Then release me! Aren't we all /friends/? You can't hold me forever! You'll fail!"
Toph Beifong     Too bad the glare is lost on Toph, who stands still. "Last time you tried to headbutt my skull in, so no, we're not friends yet. I'll only release you once you've proven that you're no threat," Toph mutters.

Peridot might notice the fact that there's a bead of sweat running down Toph's face towards her chin, though. Clearly this isn't as easy as bending simple boulders and fixing up her academy.
Peridot "Hm.." Peridot puffs her cheeks a little and steeples her fingers together. "I get the feeling you aren't completely sincere when you say that. It's just... Listen." Peridot coughs into her fist.

"I know it might not mean much to you, but the first few months I was trapped here, I was really scared. I felt like everyone wanted to shatter me. You and Lazuli were the only gems in my corner. Well- Lazuli, more than you- but, still you kept me safe while I was lost, confused and just trying to do my best for our empire. For that, I owe you at least something. I owe you at least... this talk. I don't want to keep you in a bubble."

"But, I have to make you understand too, Homeworld.. the Diamonds. I've always thought they were perfect, that our society was perfect.  But, it's not! It's flawed... deeply flawed, at that!" She takes a small step forward. "I want to help you see what I saw. That what we do to other species isn't right. We can exist to be things we weren't made for. For example, I've been writing fictional retellings of my favorite tv shows. This planet is, I mean it's weird but there is a certain logic to it that I can appreciate, that I think you too could enjoy."
Jasper      "Flawed?" Jasper asks. "It doesn't surprise me that you'd say that with your- your... /THIS/! We are all made for a specific purpose to serve the Great Diamond Authority! You're a Peridot! I'm a Jasper! I fight. I will /always/ fight! We aren't made with flaws - they're developed later!"

She pushes again, straining against the metal with all of her strength! "Just because you've forgotten what you are, doesn't mean I have!"
Peridot "Oh come on." Peridot grits her teeth. "I have to mean something to you!" She pats her own chest. "You were trapped here just like I was. I helped you deal with that whole... fusion situation and I scolded Lazuli for it! The only gem who's been nice to me, for your sake!  I kept our ship running smoothly and I got you that combat drone for that Merry Christmasweengiving holiday thing. I put a lot of effort into it so you couldn't break it too easily!"

Peridot takes another step closer. "Our circumstances have been unsual and difficult since we've been stuck on this planet and I've done nothing but try and make it better while you keep dismissing me or making it worse. And even now I've got you prisoner, I'm still trying to help you! The least you could do is.. consider what I'm saying!"

"And now I'm asking you to not force me to keep you in a bubble and you're still challenging me!"
Toph Beifong     "Somehow I doubt she's interested in hearing your fanfiction," Toph mutters to Peridot. She herself didn't mind hearing a little, but well... she had to admit this isn't the time to talk about such things.

It's kinda expected that Jasper wouldn't accept that truth so easily, and Toph grits her teeth, visibly straining to keep Jasper still as she struggles against the metal, which creaks as the force is applied upon it.

"Peridot... make it quick," Toph says between clenched teeth, her arms shaking slightly. Man, who'd think that Jasper would be /this/ strong after waking up?
Jasper      "Why would a mere Peridot mean ANYTHING to ME?! You were trapped here and you broke! You're weak! I'll never break! I'll never yield! You scolded Lapis, and you're worried about what /I/ will do!?" She laughs and perhaps the most unsettling thing about it is that she sounds genuinely humored by that.

The metal strains and Jasper only pushes harder, shouting out her exertion! "The challenge is what I was made for! I WILL defeat Rose Quartz, even if I do it without your support! Not that I ever needed it!"
Peridot Peridot frowns and squints. She looked to Toph for a moment before looking to all the chains holding Jasper in place. "I don't think this is working like I originally plotted out in my head!" She announces as she squints.

"We have to poof her again-!" Peridot shouts. "We'll try again later, I'll bring my tablet screen next time, perhaps if she can just see and hear the comical musings of middle suburbia and their seamless transitions to commercial break, she'll better understand what I'm talking about here!"
Toph Beifong     Okay, it sounds like the time for talking is over. Peridot tried, but sadly Toph was right; Jasper has no shred of sentimentality within her, no real understanding of friendship. And right now Toph feels she's not confident that she can hold Jasper still. So rather than being a quiet observer, the blind girl raises her voice and speaks with urgency in her tone right after Peridot comes to the same conclusion as she has. "Then poof and bubble her now!" It's too dangerous to continue doing this right now. That laughter that Jasper lets out is enough to tell her that there is no reasoning with her.

Before Peridot gets her chance however, Jasper pushes with all her strength, and the metal gives, even as Toph's eyes go wide in horror as she stumbles slightly with a shocked yelp. Jasper's arm is free...!
Jasper      Jasper's arm is a gold-orange blur as she grabs for Peridot and lifts her high, the prelude to Jasper ripping herself free from her metal prison. She stands there for a moment, chest rising and falling, and she stares right at Toph. "I'm almost impressed. You held me down for some time. But only almost, hah!"

"You're right about something, Peridot," Jasper says, like she's just continuing the conversation. "Maybe there is more to this planet. I might even have considered some of the things you have said to me."

She drops Peridot then. "You see, Peridot. I'm not /trapped/ here. This is exactly where I want to be! In the middle of a target-rich environment with no shortage of resources! Being Malachite taught me so much!" She laughs, that strangely hollow sound that reminds of nothing more than rocks being smashed together.

"I'm going to walk out of here, and neither of you are going to follow me," Jasper states.
Peridot "Auugh!" Peridot yelps as she is scooped up by Jasper and lifted into the air. She grabs onto Jasper's wrist and kicks her little legs. "Ngh!"

"That's not quite what I had in-" She is interrupted as she is suddenly dropped, falling to the ground and setting her hand against where she was grabbed.

"Wait, you can't leave!" She says putting her hand up, though she had no real means to stop it herself. "The crystal gems are going to be very upset with me if you do! -I'm- going to be upset with me!"
Toph Beifong     Desperately Toph does her best to keep the metal around Jasper's other limbs, but once the big gem has her arm free, that's all she needs, and Toph lets out a breathless gasp she feels the metal being torn. "Peridot!" There's clear concern and fear for her friend when she's grabbed, and Toph steps forward, her forehead drenched in sweat as she stands, the metal around her bending as she is clearly ready to fight to get the small gem free. "Let her go," she demands in response to Jasper's almost praise.

The blind teenager listens as Jasper talks, and well... this sounds unnerving.

What truly surprises her however is when Jasper... doesn't want to fight, dropping Peridot and instead speaks of her intent to leave.

Toph's response is a narrowing of her eyes, and she does not look like she approves of that suggestion. "I would sooner collapse this entire bunker on all of us," she snaps sourly. That would be easy, and she could do it while protecting herself and Peridot too. That's part of the reason why she chose this location for their plan. "Do you honestly think we would let you walk away?"
Jasper      Toph's challenge seems to draw Jasper's helmet to her head, and a wicked grin to her face. "Oh, I was /hoping/ you wouldn't. Collapse the bunker then. Do it. Being underground is nothing to a Quartz. I'll claw my way to the surface just so I can see the look on your faces when I finish what I started! You're going to fight me... /really/? In an enclosed space? Where you can't /run/?!"

She slams a fist into her palm. Once, twice, and then spreads her arms wide - as if to invite Toph's tactic.
Peridot Was that Toph's plan? Peridot grimaced. Bursting out from being trapped underground, was technically the first thing gem's do when they're begin their existence! Peridot had little doubt Jasper could escape a cave in- unless she was poofed and gem was trapped in rubble.

"I'll-!" She thinks. "I'll go get help!" She announces and begins making a break for the exit.
Toph Beifong     The tone in Jasper's voice makes the blind earthbender frown in displeasure. Quartzes can survive being underground? Well, gems belong in the earth and all, but... "I don't run from fights, concrete cranium," Toph responds, and she makes sure to stand between Jasper and the exit while Peridot runs off. Maybe the other gems can help... and sure, Toph did feel the strain of keeping the metal still for so long, but she's not too tired to fight and stand her ground!

Let's see if she can draw out time some however... "She felt horrible about it, you know," she begins. "Not that I expected you to understand friendship to begin with, but seriously...? Peridot is not your enemy. Nor does the rest of us have to be."
Jasper      Jasper takes each towards Toph slowly, deliberately. She might not know how strained Toph is but there's some part of her that understands it, senses it - the experiences of the battlefield. "I don't have /enemies/ - only PREY!"

She punctuates her taunt with a sharp right uppercut, aiming to use that to toss Toph into the air, so she can rain down a flurry of blows on the young Earthbender before she hits the ground!
Toph Beifong     As Jasper advances on her, the young earthbender stands her ground with a firm look on her face. No, she's not intimidated by you! But still, it should be clear that Toph knows just how strong Jasper is as well. And it's clear there's little use of trying to talk sense into her. Despite Jasper's size she's pretty damn quick, as Toph sees the incoming uppercut coming just as Jasper begins her motion. Instantly Toph throws her arms up in front of her face, even as metal comes flying towards her. The punch strikes the blind girl in the arms however, and she is thrown back. However, the flurry of attacks doesn't have their intended effect as Jasper suddenly finds herself striking metal that wraps around Toph's form, weighing her down as she hits the ground and rolls with a pained groan. "... why won't you listen to Peridot, dunderhead?" Come on, Peridot... hurry up!
Jasper      "Why would I?" Jasper asks, "Why /should/ I?!" She's left big fist prints in the metal Toph had girded herself with and her knuckles seem injured from the repeated blows. For all the armor though, the only effect it has on Jasper is like wrapping a gift. It's practically encouragement!

As Toph rolls, Jasper leaps. She lands and lashes out with her foot and ankle, aiming to send Toph - armor and all - crashing into the bunker wall. "You should just stay down before I need to /break/ you!"
Toph Beifong     Sure, the metal defends Toph somewhat from the punches, though she still feels it. No doubt she will be bruised tomorrow. And as Toph rolls she notices Jasper leaping, and she quickly throws up her hand to bend some of the metal from the floor upwards, but it's slightly too late as she gets the air knocked out of her once Jasper's foot connects with her abdomen.

The small form crashes into the wall, and Toph doesn't even let out a yelp as she falls to the ground, unmoving but still breathing. And unable to hear the threat from Jasper.
Jasper      Jasper stands there for a few moments, waiting for Toph to move, like a cat that's only interested in a mouse when it jumps when spooked. Eventually, Jasper just gloats, "Pathetic."

She stalks out of the underground chamber without a care, turning to head towards the seaside, and then across the sand, into the water, and under the waves...
Peridot @emit     Peridot held Steven by the hand and was pulling him into the room. where they had unbubbled Jasper. She hadn't fully had time to explain everything, in fact, when she found Steven the only briefing he got was a manic run on sentence. "SorryIstoleJasperfromyourbubbleroombutIhadtotryandhelpherbuteverythingbackfiredhorriblyandnowshe'sescapingsoIneedyourhelpsoIdon'ttotallymessthisuppleasefolowmethanks!" And then she grabbed him and began pulling him to the warp pad.

And a quick warp pad trip later, Peridot was pulling Steven down into the chamber Toph created. A stony structure full of broken chains, with Peridot's gem the only light source in the room. "Oh no! She's gone!" She frowns looking around and then runs straight to Toph kneeling by her side. "Toph! Toph! I went as fast as I could and I found Steven!"
Steven Universe Steven waxes confused as Peridot drags him to the warp pad, but whatever's wrong she's his friend and he's gonna help her fix it! Having so decided, and decoded the gist of Peridot's sentence, he warps in full of determination. He looks around for Jasper, ready to shield and fight, only to find no sign of attack. At Peridot's exclamation, however, he shifts into gear, running for his new friend Toph who he now sees unmoving on the ground.

"Toph! Please be okay, please be okay!" Without stopping to check because he's kinda impulsive, he skids to his knees (an impressive powerslide for such a little guy, in fact!) and leans down to kiss Toph on the forehead, trusting his magic healing spit to do the rest...
Toph Beifong     When Peridot and Steven arrive, they should be glad to notice that Toph is indeed breathing, and there isn't any blood or any serious injuries to be seen. However, she is still clad in metal. Jasper could have done worse, but her goal was to escape, not to mutilate and maim.

Part of the spit runs down to Toph's cheek, and after a few seconds the teenager lets out a pained groan as she sits up, the metal moving with her as if it were cloth. "What the crud..." she mutters, then blinks before she quickly gets to her feet. "Where did Jasper go?!" And what is Steven doing here? For how long was she out?
Peridot "I don't know. " Peridot admits. "I got back and she was gone and you were on the ground and-" her brows tense up before she suddenly falls forward hugging the metal encased Toph. "I'm sorry this is all my fault! You go thurt trying to help me and I shouldn't have tried to change her, or unbubble her or anything!"

"She could be anywhere by now! And theres no telling what she's going to do now that she doesn't want to go back to Homeworld. I've made.. a terrible terrible miscalculation again."
Steven Universe "But Peridot, you were trying to do something good! Jasper's mean, yeah, but... But she can learn to be nice. Anyone can! Maybe it wasn't the right thing to do to unbubble her without the rest of us to help, but anyone can make mistakes. One time, I tried to replace a goddess statue with a Mister Queasy and broke an entire tower! It'll be okay, we can handle Jasper. Together. Especially with... Toph, why are you covered in metal anyway?" Steven was really building up steam with his pep talk before it struck him Toph looked more like some sort of... giant robot... than the girl he met on the beach who gave him a pep talk of his own.
Toph Beifong     The sudden hug seems to take Toph by surprise, and perhaps it's a good thing that Peridot can't see the surprised look on Toph's face. Though the gem should be able to hear the sigh, and Toph pats Peridot on the shoulder. "... I'm fine, my head doesn't even hurt anymore." Which is kinda weird, but hey, she's used to being tough! "I can't blame you for trying, though I kinda feared this would happen. She's more stubborn than a gator mule." It's okay, she's not mad at you. And Steven does make a point. Their intentions were good, but still... "We've gotta be careful and deal with this. Getting her bubbled again will be tough, but..." It's something they have to do.

When Steven asks why she's covered in metal though, Toph arches an eyebrow behind the metal covering most of her face. "Because I wasn't about to let her punch me without something protecting my head?" she answers, gesturing with her hand... and the metal simply peels off as if it were sheets of paper. The metal falls to the ground around her, revealing Toph clad in her usual clothes.
Steven Universe "Oh... Cool! So, you're like a magical knight! That's really great, so you know how to swordfight and save damsels and dudes in distress? Have you ever fought a dragon? That was magical armor, right?" Steven barrages her with questions, before realizing again that Peridot's still upset.

"Peridot... We need the others. I'll help you explain, then we can all get ready for Jasper together. With Mom on our side, and Magical Knight Toph, and all us Crystal Gems, we can totally show her how to be nice! Except, probably not by fighting, which is all she ever wants to do... Hmmm."
Peridot "We'll get her again." Peridot offers as she stands back up. "I'm not sure how... but I'll find a way to make up for this. Even if I have to build a giant robot to fight for me, and poof her again."

She turns to Steven. "I don't know. I pulled out all the stops. She didn't even care about my camp pining hearts fanfiction." Peridot rubs her chin. "I tried to show her everything I've learned, but none of it seems to sinking in and I was the closest one to her before I went rogue."
Toph Beifong     Wait, didn't Steven listen to her when they first met? Didn't he notice her earthbending? The blind teenager arches an eyebrow. "Uh, no... I'm the greatest earthbender of all time and the inventor of metalbending. I fight dunderheads, and this isn't magic." Huh, he really acts like a little kid, doesn't he?

There's a pensive look on Toph's face as Peridot muses about the ways she tried to persuade Jasper to join her. "Thing is... Jasper's not like you. I don't think she's gonna be persuaded by hearing about Jessie and Ricky going to the movies." Or whatever Peridot wrote about in her fan fiction. "She's the big brutish type who only cares by force... which means that we could try to knock sense into that thick skull of hers until our knuckles bleed." There's a serious look on Toph's face. "You come up with a plan, and then we'll poof her. And we'll do it together."
Steven Universe Steven goes all starry-eyed. "Can I read your Camp Pining Hearts fanfiction later? You wrote it from before season 5, right?"

He turns back to Toph, "Oh, yeah, you did tell me about that. So, that's metalbending? Huh, my mental image of that was way different..." One can almost imagine a thought bubble with an image of Toph bending a steel bar in half like a superhero from a cartoon, to the awe of an adoring audience. "So, it's not magic? It looked an awful lot like magic..."
Toph Beifong     Cue Toph rolling her eyes slightly at the talk about fan fiction. Man, why are people so obsessed with a show that they actually spend time writing about the characters from the show itself in different settings?

"Bending is a skill from my world where you enforce your will upon the element. I was born an earthbender, so I can bend earth. Metal is purified earth, and I discovered how to sense the earth in the metal." After much work and due to an epiphany she had when an important person to her was in danger, that is. "Some might call it magic, but I don't consider it magic." Okay, enough talk. "Let's get away from here for now. I think I need a hot bath for once after that beating." Even if she's hurting far less than she thought she would after that beating.
Peridot '"Um that's Jesse and Joey." Peridot corrects imperiously before listening to what she has to say. Her brows lay flat over her eyes. "I know that... I just wasn't sure what else to try, and I really don't relate at all with that kind of violent mindset. I don't even know how to convince her."

"But maybe that's the problem. I'm trying to stop the fighting, and she's going to always keep it going. and... I am sorry I didn't listen. Next time, It'll be your call. Clearly I don't have it takes to reach her."

At the mention of getting out of her Peridot nods. "Yeah. I'll be back at the temple soon, and I'll totally make up for everything that's happened- but first, I need to visit with the crystal gems again. Theres.. things that I need to discuss."
Steven Universe "A hot bath sounds really nice," Steven agrees, "Where even is here, and how do we get out? Do we warp again?" He looks around for a warp pad, or a door, or anything resembling an exit.
Toph Beifong     "Jesse and Joey then," Toph responds without malice or annoyance. "Perhaps we need a different way to deal with it. Or more force." It's worth a try.

"The academy can do without you for a little while, so no worries, Cloderella. Contact me by radio if anything pops up, guys."
Steven Universe     Steven's eyes light up. "Wait, radios? Sometimes I use my Cookie Cat walky-talkies to talk to the Gems while we're out on missions, but I'm pretty sure they're still in my backpack... Do you have walky-talkies too?"
Peridot "Come on Steven." Peridot says taking Steven's hand. "We have gem business to attend to." She starts back towards the warp pad that had brought them here.
