Samira Amirmuaz     Aboard the Avenger, Commander's Quarters...

The Informant winks away from the screen to be replaced by the symbol of the Earth Resistance. Commander Samira took notes of everything on a piece of paper while he explained the task at hand. Immediately upon his disappearance, she stands and puts out the call. 'Operatives assemble'. There was a mission at hand. Cpl. Kelly, Sq. Jackobi, Sq. Olivera, and Cpl. DeGaspard were chosen to take part in the rescue on the Resistance's behalf, where they'd wait for any other comers to join them aboard the Skyranger to set out. On route, Bradford explains through the communications band about what the current mission is.

"You're on route to a slum called 'Razor Ridge' in the Eastern U.S. precinct. An engineer who had some sympathy for the cause got picked up by ADVENT peacekeepers two hours ago. They'll be passing through this area before taking her to to a detention facility. We aren't quite ready for that type of heat, so we're going to stop the patrol en route. Rescue the hostage from the rear van and retreat to evac. If we do this fast they'll never know what hit them..

The Skyranger's engines scream as it comes to their insertion point: the roof of a two story building and would allos for maybe four abreast. There's not much cover up here.... And for good reason. This place is a wreck. A lot of the buildings have seen better days. Mostly human compared to the monolythic structures of ADVENT creation that still popped up here and there. There were actual people living here too, it seemed. Furtive figures and trash filled alleyways... This really was a nice place to call home, wasn't it?

From the intel they'd received, they'd be able to know that they're roughly half a klick away from the ambush point. They have a set window of time to get to the ambush points to attack, but there's fairly good chances that there'll be aliens down in the street below, between here and there. For now, the soldiers of XCOM hop down to the ground floor and take cover behind a bench and some bags that smell... Well, probably nothing anyone here wants to know.
Alexis Maaka     Sergeant Maaka is here, loading up with her weapons and gear thoroughly. She loads up a heavy duty sniper rifle, borrowed from the XCOM armory and chambered for .50 BMG, intended to be a heavy penetrator. Should be enough to put a hole in any engine block out there, especially a van. "DeGaspard, you ready for this?" She asks the French sniper, clapping him on the shoulder.

The ride will be uneventful for the cyborg, as she gets synched up with the rifle's scope, and she hops off the Skyranger as she begins to get set up. Loading the rifle, she'll take a prone position as she aims her rifle towards the streets, scanning for the target vehicle.
Karian Icefang     Having heard of the issues going on in Samira's version of earth, and despite not having official access to the radio frequencies of the resistance form of XCOM, Karian was in the area. He was curious as to what ADVENT was up to, and how they operated. So, he was running a light group today, consisting of a pair of scouts and his wolf. For a man clad in super heavy plate armor, he was quite stealthy. He didn't know of the captive, but then again, he didn't know he was about to be a part of a hit on the transport.
Yulia Koslova     Yulia has helpfully arranged her own transportation again, seeing as how her mobile suit still has no hope of fitting in the Skyranger and (until someone invents Pym-level shrinking technology, anyway) never will. One of Zeon's quartermasters tracked down an old booster sled and had it recommissioned for her, which makes flight-in-atmosphere much easier for her mecha. It's not as fast as the jet, but it sure beats walking.
The young woman's lips draw into a thin line as the landing zone comes into view, but she leaves her thoughts unvoiced even to the pink haro riding shotgun with her. If nothing else, the ruins gives her a choice of hiding spots. None of them are perfect, since there's barely any buildings as tall as her Jagd Doga, but there's a deep enough foundation left from one lost building for her to crouch down inside to partially hide it. She then reaches down to front of the sled to grab a camoflauge tarp to throw up and over, which may help from above if not exactly from anyone seeing it from the street.
"Okay. Put us in standby mode, Rose."
'Roger roger, haro!' the haro warbles, and the cockpits light dim. The main screen remains up, and Yulia taps a button to put scanners front and center. Now all that's left to do is wait.
Staren     Staren's finally able to help XCOM again, this time on a rescue mission. He's not really equipped for a specific role though, at least not intentionally -- he just has his usual armor and gear, to try and make the best of any opportunities he finds. For now, he's down behind the bench with the soldiers, ready to move up with them and react to any surprises with substancial firepower.
Kazuko Kawakami Kazuko's heard a fair amount about Commander Samira's situation with the aliens, and the martial artist's curiousity has led her to Razor Ridge. It has been quite a while since she last checked out the goings on in other modern Earths, and between the rumblings about ADVENT forces and the fact that she hasn't seen any aliens in a long while means...

She's actually here without any clue about what's going on. Dressed in her school's summer uniform, she looks more like an out-of-place exchange student rather than any sort of soldier. Alas, there's not a lot of sight-seeing to be done in the slums, but she's still running about, snapping the occasional picture of buildings and the like with a disposable camera. Nothing to see here, troops! Just a very lost student running around a slum.

'Being lost' might not be a lie, at least.
Samira Amirmuaz     DeGaspard just sort of... stared dwon at his shoulder, then up to Maaka with a quirked brow. Under his mask, he sighs. "Why is everyone so touchy. Are you going to start calling me Baguette next? I am always ready to kill."

Unknown to XCOM, they had more help than expected. Kazuko and Karian were both split off from the group in various distances and directions. Karian was twenty meters to the southeast, towards the road in a section of alleys that smelled quite ripe... no sign of any ADVENT in his area, though. At least for now. Kazuko, meanwhile, was fifteen meters south, facing a smaller roadway that went under the elevated main thoroughfare (quite high up there) that the transport would be coming down. She looks mighty out of place indeed... Which isn't quite a good thing when she comes into view of some ADVENT soldiers, black and red for the Troopers, orange and yellow for an Engineer, and blue and white for a Sentinel. If she acts natural, they might ignore it, but she'd better be careful. One can get asked for ID by a lamp post around here.

The rest of the XCOM gang made their way forward. Currently, activity was still somewhat low because the transport was still some distance out of the city. But it'd be ramping up soon. There's a lot of areas to help get vertical here, given how many ruined buildings are around. Eventually, up ahead Kelly transmits a noise and a sound to stop. "Enemies spotted, ten meters south."

Said x-rays are a pair of Troopers, a Captain, and two new creatures. Quite long, yellow scales... The Viper's hoods are laid low for now while they slither through the area, occaisonally flicking their tongues out to test the air. They had the chance for a first strike, if someone wanted to take it.
Karian Icefang     Karian watched silently. He observed the armor, and the vipers closely. "Interesting...nothing like what we fought before.." He muses softly. With a single gesture, the scouts nod and move out. Propping up hoods they apparently had on their scout armor, they quickly scurried up a few trees and moved into better sniping positions. Each had a Stalker pattern bolter and were locking in for headshots. "In position, Jarl. Give the word." One scout radioed back. Unaware of XCOM still, the Wolf Lord dared to move closer to the convoy's path, quiet and stealth-like.
Yulia Koslova     From her location in the semi-flattened neighborhood, Yulia keeps an ear to the radio and her eyes on the screens. Most of her attention is on the scanner displays, but she occasionally flicks over to look as the 'suit's camera feeds, just in case someone happens to stumble upon her position or an ADVENT patrol soldiers through. As powered down as it is, it shouldn't paint too large a heat or energy signature, though there's still more there than the surrounding buildings. But who would be looking for that here? That's what she hopes at least.
Just a giant robot hiding in a ruined foundation. Nothing to see here, people. Move along.
Alexis Maaka     "No. that's just stupid." Alexis says flatly. She shakes her head, some people have no sense of camaraderie. It's shameful.

She sighs, shrugging as she takes position and aims as the van arrives. She spots x-rays, aiming south just to see a bunch of troopers, and snakes too.

"...gross, that just raises more questions than I wanna even delve into." She mutters, before she aims at the Captain.

Her rifle sounds off first, the .50 cal kicking against her shoulder as she aims for his chest to splatter the officer good.
Kazuko Kawakami Kazuko blinks slowly as she hears a vehicle approaching, hurrying towards the sidewalk before peering down the road at the ADVENT soldiers coming her way. Alas, she doesn't quite recognize them as a threat just yet, although between the color scheme and the uniforms?

She can at least figure out that they're the local military force of some sort. Her tourist-like reflexes kick into high gear, of course, as she resumes snapping pictures, this time of the soldiers and occasionally turning the camera vertically for full-body shots.

"Cool..." She's really just here to sight-see today, isn't she? The martial artist doesn't even have her naginata with her today, for better or for worse, but she's still clueless about the ambush that's about to happen right in front of her!
Staren     Time for coordination! As Alexis prepares to take her shot, Staren moves to just behind the corner of the nearest building... popping out from behind it just after she fires, to contribute a burst from his own laser sniper rifle, on one of the snakes! Who knows what capabilities this mysterious new x-ray might have, after all!
Samira Amirmuaz     It seemed that the time to sneak was over. Maaka starts off the fight by trying to gib the Captain while he was unaware. It's a good shot that takes him in the chest and sweeps him off his feet, showering the sidewalk behind him in sick orange blood. Both of the vipers and the other troopers stop, the Troopers point out Maaka and the rest of the XCOM team. Both viper's hoods fly open in full thrat display as they hiss and start going for cover. They're quick bastards, though... When it spots Staren aiming for it, the target jukes with inhuman quickness to the side and slithers over a barrier to take cover behind a wall. Olivera and DeGaspard manage to bring down one of the Troopers between the two of them, while Kelly moves off to hide inside of a building, ready to run-and-gun.

Karian and his men gaining better position would end up giving them sight of the vehicle as it came... and it immediately revved it's engines to tear down the highway. The psionic network has detected the attack and is directing the driver to just get the bastard out of the area. At it's rate of speed, getting to it while fighting off ADVENT isn't going to be easy, but they just so happen to have someone waiting in the wings.

Kazuko would see the soldiers suddenly attain readiness and start making their way down the street towards her. Now that they have more reason to look, she doesn't look like she's from here at all. At the very least, she's a human in a place where undesirables live; she's pointed out and yelled at in human voices that fluctuated strangely with inhuman tones and alien words. They're probably going to try to arrest her!
Karian Icefang     "Fire. Take the engine." Karian orders as he leaps into the battle. Anything near him would find a massive armored, humanoid muton chargign them with a huge claymore. That, or have a mercury shell punch through their head. Meanwhile, a scout sights up and fires on the enginge of the vehichle and the driver.
Alexis Maaka     Maaka sighs, seeing Kazuko in the middle of getting arrested. Wonderful. She likes the kid, but damn she can be stupid sometimes.

"MOVE!" She barks over radio, before she takes aim at the troopers approaching her with the rifle. It thunders across the air as fifty cal rounds fire, before she shifts aim towards the rear van. That's the priority target, so Maaka has to focus there. She aims for the engine block, or what she assumes to be the engine block, and fires there.
Staren     <"He saw me."> Staren fires the underbarrel grenade launcher at the troopers and ducks back behind cover, deploying camera drones to improve situational awareness. The last thing he wants is for those snakes to sneak up on someone when he can't see them!
Yulia Koslova     It sounds like their ambushers and the ambushed ADVENT soldiers have found each other, all right. Rose makes soft, concerned warbling noises at the sounds carried over the comm. Yulia's expression tightens, but she keeps her mouth shut. The soldiers and snipers have their job to do, and she has hers.
That job has just changed a bit, and after snapping off an ackowledgement, she turns her attention from the skies to the ground. Her mecha shifts from near-prone to crouch with a whirring thrum of gears and hydraulics, the camoflauge tarp still covering its head and shoulders all cowl-like. Its head pivots toward the highway as she tries to get the convoy into view...
...There! Mechanical servos whirr again as the mecha brings its arms and the beam rifle it's weilding to bear, followed by the crack of its first volley of smoking hot plasma aimed at the lead vehicle. Followed by a quick prayer that their intel was right and the person they're rescuing is in the last one.
Kazuko Kawakami At first, Kazuko's absolutely bewildered. One of those soldiers' chest just exploded, others are turning out to be snake people, and a few are even coming towards her and yelling weird things! They do at least look like authority figures, so she looks like she's just about ready to go along with them.

At least, until some familiar faces start showing up. Or voiecs and armor, even, considering Karian being... Karian with his massive sword and Maaka outright yelling over at her. That's an easy enough way to figure out the ADVENT soldiers aren't the good guys! Straightening up some, Kazuko keeps moving towards the approaching soldiers looking like she's ready to comply anyway.

At the last moment, though, she points behind them and shouts, as if trying to draw their attention elsewhere without actually screaming. Regardless of whether they turn or not, though, she breaks into a run while channeling ki into her limbs for extra power. She feints at the one on the left first before hurling herself to the right with a big boot to the knee followed by a flurry of punches to the face or upper body or wherever she can reach!
Samira Amirmuaz      Wasn't it fun how quickly things could turn into an utter clusterfuck? ADVENT was suddenly scrambling to fight people that had appeared everywhere in this damn city, from unexpected angles and odd areas. Then there was the robots and the Space Marines, Kazuko, the rest of XCOM... This place was going to be turning into a warzone soon. Particularly while the locals are sending out reinforcements to end the party early.

Yulia's shot absolutely obliterates the leading vehicle and removes a not-insignificant portion of the highway underneath it, while the rounds from Karian's scouts manage to pierce the engine of the rear vehicle... the middle one just ends up falling into empty space and exploding violently when it strikes the ground two stories down.

The rest of them... well, they had a fight coming. The Vipers are very quick creatures, and they have more tricks than one might think. The one that Staren had shot at hadn't moved, but instead peeked out from the corner, hissed--and her tongue /shot/ forward to an unbelievable length, trying to wrap around the science boy's throat, and pull him to her... sos he might wrap herself up around him and squeeze! The other one takes a deep breath and hawks up a cloud of poison up towards DeGaspard's and Maaka's position. It may not mess with her much, but the first tastes of it have DeGespard doubling over and coughing.

Kelly was already moving to encircle the last remaining Trooper in this pod and fire into his back, killing him. The vipers were on their own, for now, but Karian's squad could detect a third pod en route to the scenes of fighting for the other groups. They'll probably start having to fight on three fronts at once.

Kazuko had her own issues. The ADVENT hybrids don't fall for her trick, but they aren't expecting to be taken on by a freaking child using her hands and feet. The Sentry ends up getting taken down, dazed, while the other two tried and failed to fight her. The engineer instead goes off for cover, aiming his rifle... firing a burst of magnetic rounds at her position, not seeming to care if he hit the troopers while he did so.
Yulia Koslova     Yulia says one of Those Words Her Brother Does Not Approve Of as she sees just how much damage that blast made. She only meant to take down the vehicle, not blow a hole in the highway! Boot forefully meets foot petal, and the booster sled fires up, sending up a dust-devil of grit and trash. "Please let that guy be a great driver!"
The tarp snaps taught as the Jagd Doga takes to the sky, whipping around behind it as part of it gets tangled up in its shoulder armor. No help for that now. The rifle gets traded off to its left hand to free the right as the machine skims for the highway, trying to reach the truck before it possibly crashes and before the interceptor cavalry turns up.
Alexis Maaka     "Fuck!" Maaka can't do much about the van, but she does notice the viper's venom hitting DeGaspard dead-on. She seems to be immune to the poison herself, which means taking the shot won't be an issue to her. She does just that, sighting down the snake and firing upon her dead-on.

"We got trouble up here, DeGaspard's hit and down. Got poisoned, gonna need an medevac up here!"
Staren     IT'S A FREAKING LICKER. Staren didn't expect the aliens to pull things out of Wesker's playbook! Fortunately, his armor is designed to protect against things like strangling or crushing or trying to break his neck or back. As soon as he's grabbed, he draws his beam saber and tries to attack the tongue with it -- if it stays in contact with him, or she tries to crush him, his armor electrifies, trying to shock her.

There's a missed opportunity here to quip a one-liner like 'Geeze, buy a guy a drink first', but Staren's mind is all on the fight and eliminating these opponents. He doesn't think talking will have any psychological effect on the aliens.
Kazuko Kawakami In retrospect, fighting these armored soldiers with nothing but her fists is probably not going to be Kazuko's smartest decision today. It's sitll not her dumbest, though, as she makes another break for cover around a building corner, sweeping a hand down to try and grab whatever she can off that fallen Sentry while rushing past him and biting back a cry of pain as some of those magnetic rounds graze her arms and one even pierces through her side.

It's too late to worry about trying to keep a low profile, though, what with the fighting intensifying almost immediately. She takes a moment to clutch that bleeding wound in her side, trying to will it into stopping (it doesn't) while staying behind cover. She's not coming out jsut yet, though, instead taking that opportunity to take a look at just what it is she grabbed.
Karian Icefang     Karian hears that there was another pod of enemies coming, and curses softly. "Move to counter and cover. And radio my Wolfguard for immidiate deployment!" He calls into his vox. Meanwhile, and trooper that gets near would meet with that claymore, and those vipers would find massive, almost grenade-launcher-esque rounds flying at them that detonate on impact.
Samira Amirmuaz     The Viper was a fast and wily foe, but it was hard to expect or counter someone from the Multiverse. Her body is strong, and trying to struggle free probably wouldn't have done much, but there's no way that she could tell that she'd be shocked to death by trying. Which happens, so now she's left on the ground, dazed, twitching, and shuddering. The other Viper doesn't have much better luck, though she manages to avoid being shot by Maaka. Instead, she gets blown away by bolter ammunition that tears giant holes through her.

Karian got to finally get a good look on who was approaching him; another squad of five, three Troopers, an overgrown Sectoid ayybomination, and another Viper. The soldiers take cover and start pounding out cover fire, while the snake goes into hiding in a nearby house to take potshots. The Secoid does the same, but also reaches out with it's mind, trying to take psionic control over one of Karian's men. Kazuko grabbed... a helmet! Probably better that she didn't take any actual weaponry, considering what happened to people that tried. That being said, she's broken away from the group of ADVENT firing on her, allowing the Engineer to take the grenade launcher from his back and fire it off towards Kaz's position. Alien plasma grenades, ho!

Yulia is lucky that Karian's squad had killed the rear van's engines... it was sitting near the crater at a stop. The human driver got out and fled when he saw the robot approach, but there's still the issue that the hostage is locked inside. And, y'know... the talon-winged ADVENT interceptors, three in all. They're making a beeline for the largest target!

DeGaspard grunted while he coughed, roughly shaking his head while he stood up and forced himself to leave the position for a less poisoned one down below, in a window. He's coughing again, and some blood is starting to come out. Olivera ends up going down to help him with a medkit, while Jackobi and Kelly move forward, circling around the group that Kazuko was fighting, taking some of the troopers by surprise, giving her some relief from constant bullets.
Karian Icefang     The scout grimmaces, but smirks. "You don't want to be in my head, Xeno." He says as he fights off the attempted mind-control. He turns and opens fire onto the sectoid and holds his ground. Soon after, and from the sky comes another pod screaming from the atmosphere at high speed. From it came the wolfguard. "Took you long enough....now, we've got Xenos incoming, and judging from the situation, an HVT in the car. Move to cover and let nothing get close." He orders. His men nod in unison and dart into cover. With the skill that only comes from many decades, and in some cases centuries, of experience, they open fire to pin any ground forces. Karian himself moves to pry to door off the vehicle, and extract the hostage.
Yulia Koslova     Mecha Dunce is more what Yulia feels like right now. Thank God that Karian showed up out of nowhere to mitigate the worst of her screw-up...she tries to squelch that line of thinking. Mentally kicking herself can be done later, when everyone is safe and less likely to be shot at.
The mecha snaps a quick salute at the Space Wolves as it sails overhead, then banks left to put some distance between it and what's left of the convoy. Even with the booster sled, she's not going to be able to outrun the incoming Interceptors, and so she instead moves to draw them away from the ground team.
As the aircraft approach, the sled loops around so that the mecha can face them head-on. "You want a target? Well here I am!" There's another crack of energy as she greets them with a volley of plasma fired from that rifle of hers.
Kazuko Kawakami This isn't going to fit on her head at all, is it? Kazuko frowns slightly before peeking out of that cover, looking over right as the Engineer's firing that grenade at her position. The fact that it's just the one shot that isn't blasting off a chunk of the wall clues her in to its potentially volatile nature, but the martial artist lingers around just a little too long before starting to run. The blast sends her tumbling away with some more pained grunts and skidding, but it's a lot better than the alternative of getting blown up outright!

"Gr.... Freaking weirdo soldiers...!" It appears as though Kazuko's getting angrier now! Her body starts glowing faintly with a yellow aura as she channels more of her ki, using it augment her strength and speed. While Jackobi and Kelly move out to fire on the troopers, the martial artist pops out of cover and flings the helmet at the Engineer like a... Well, like a helmet being hurled at a high speed. It's a fairly accurate throw, at least, and she even steps out of cover long enough to make her presence known with a loud shout and a constant yellow glow surrounding her.

"I don't know who you are, but you're not acting like real police officers! You better get your butts ready." Another dramatic shout and stomp, and the martial artist draws her hands back as if preparing for a large attack. "Ka... Wa... Ka... Mi...!"

And then she abruptly turns and runs back behind cover. She never really learned that technique, but at least she can still try and draw their attention off her allies with the real weapons!
Alexis Maaka     "Think we're clear. I'm gonna stay up here for overwatch, just in case we get any more guests coming our way." ALexis says, reloading the Barret and chambering a new round into the chamber. She doesn't see any tangos still around, but it pays to be on watch just in case.
Staren     Well... That seems to be it, then! Staren watches the snake, warily, while his drones try to get eyes on the objective from the sky.
Samira Amirmuaz     The enemies weren't all gone quiet yet; The ones targetting the main XCOM group were, but Kazuko and Karian still have theirn own problems. Reinforcements from the Space Wolves manage to pin down the coming ADVENT soldiers and the aliens that fought beside them, alloing Karian to get to the car door. Which of course doesn't stand a chance of holding. All that was left was an Indian woman who looked positively terrified to be faced with a giant, armored space man. "I didn't give anything to ADVENT, and I won't give anything to you!" she spits down at the floor in front of her, bitterly. Expecting to just die here, maybe.

Kazuko's distractions work for a little while, though. The helmet manages to knock the Engineer on his ass when it crashes into him, but it wouldn't be too much of a struggle to stand and fight again. Only, Kelly is suddenly behind him and blowing his arm off with a shotgun blast. Jackobi stands a little further back while firing twice, taking down two more troopers. The alien forces were in utter disarray.

Aside from the Interceptors, those are still quite fresh and only need one target. Blasts of plasma cannons rain down from the three flying units, seemingly uncaring for how much devastation they were going to cause. They also split up, each going a separate direction, so that Yulia couldn't take them all with one shot.

DeGaspard and Olivera start leading the way toards the extraction, twenty meters east, a road up against an embankment, giving covering fire to anyone who was moving with them. The Space Wolves seemed to be handling the rescue part. If only there was a way to contact them and tell them to just retreat and take the hostage with them.
Karian Icefang     Karian grimmaces as the woman seems terrified. "Easy...I'm not with ADVENT. I just look like it." He says. He looks back to see how his wolfguard are doing. Satisfied, he began quickly scanning over allied radio frequencies, and sending out general burst transmissions. "Wolf Lord Karian Icefang of the Allfather's Space Wolves to any non-ADVENT forces. We are in the midst of extracting a possible HVT. While I don't mind fighting an army, I'd rather get her to safety. Please respond and provide evac location."
Kazuko Kawakami Things seem to be going well! The hostile soldiers are in disarray, the other-soldiers that aren't shooting at her... Not shooting at her. Kazuko's looking rather pleased with the situation, but she's still not letting her guard down even as she moves back out of cover towards Jackobi and Kelly, trying to ignore the blood loss from that hole in her side even as she rain blows down on any still-moving ADVENT soldiers on the way over. No fatal blows, but she can at least make sure they're not going to be shooting her in the back!

"Ngh... Wh-who are you, anyway? Are we getting outta here?" The martial artist puts on a brave face as that yellow glow dissipates, and she leans over to grab a fallen street pole just in case. Who knows if she might need a weapon on the way back?
Yulia Koslova     The Interceptor pilots are smart, Yulia will give them that. They also don't seem to care one bit about stray fire, though, which galls her. She honestly has no idea how many people are forced to live in those slums below, and even though intellectually she understands civilian casualties are inevitable, her thawed heart has trouble accepting that.
That and the fact that the sled drives like 1950s American car are why she's not jinking as much as she rightly ought as they fire on her. She brings up her round shield to its chest to try and protect her cockpit as best she can as she returns fire. She can't hit all three at once with her rifle, and so she concentrates on the one coming in on her left first, firing rounds of supercharged plasma as fast as the rifle will allow. Flumes of plasma and ash rise as the Interceptors find their marks and score the front of her sled, the shield, and the mech's helmet.
Staren     Staren's drones find... is that Karian and the Space Wolves? What are they doing here? Radios are connected and things are explained -- Now they just need Karian to evac with the target. Great!

One of the missile racks on Staren's armor pops up -- Plasma minimissiles will soon rain down on the ADVENT and alien troops the Space Wolves are fighting, giving them something to think about while the wolves escape!
Samira Amirmuaz     Far away, the distant intelligence guiding all of their little pieces on Earth knew suddenly that the game had been changed. Seeing everything that they had over their past few encounters, they directed another part of of their collective, got other wheels spinning. Soon, there was the chance that Razor Ridge wouldn't be left on the map anymore.

Down on the planet, everyone had started trying to make their way out. Karian gets the good doctor out of the van, finally... Olivera waves to her from down below to indicate where to run. There are ladders leading up and down onto the highway, so she can take that to go... and once they've gotten the alerts, Olivera is fleeing for evac, hostage in tow. With most of the enemies cleared on their route, they don't have a lot of issues keeping up a good pace.

Kazuko, Kelly, and Jackobi were still in a bit of a scrum, even if they'd managed to beat off most of the resistance. Jackobi ends up being the one to give Kazuko a shoulder while also forcing a long-barreled .32 Magnum revolver into her hand. "Make them duck they heads," intones the Jamaican... with a lot more calmness than this situation called for. Kelly starts falling back afterwards, firing blasts from her gun while they went.

Staren really does love his missles. And it's hard not to, the explosions catch the enemy squad by surprise and throws them out of cover, left to be easy shots from Karian's group of Wolves. What normally would've called for an ADVENT reinforcements via troop transport instead gets... the Battleship. It appears that they've finally decided enough was enough here. A warning pops up on their tac feeds: Seven minutes until UFO arrival.

Yulia's stuck fighting three Interceptors, too, who probably intend to harry her and prevent her escape until the Battleship arrived. They're pretty nimble fighters, too... The one Yulia was aiming at manages to strafe a lot of the fire and score one good hit against the head before it finally got eradicated by the much bigger beam rifle. That left two buzzing around her like angry hornets, stinging whenever they could.
Karian Icefang     "Once they're clear, we leave. No need for needless sacrifice." Karian advices as the missiles come. From above, the roar of thunderhawks fill the sky, helping the ground forces with some strafing runs. They then turn to help keep yulia safe so she can get out too. The thunderhawk lands near the Skyranger, allowing the wolves to move for the evac point, and should any of the team get hit or injured, immidiately recover and fill the spot.
Kazuko Kawakami Despite her pride as a warrior, Kazuko knows when she needs assistance, and she's more than glad to take that shoulder. She's less glad to take that revolver, looking a little startled initially before trying to figure out how to even hold it properly. "Ehh? Alright! It shouldn't be too hard, right?"

As they fall back, the brunette holds the weapon straight out in both hands while looking down... She's not aiming down the sights at all. She's just imitating stances she's seen! Still, she does manage to pop off a shot before being surprised by the recoil on the thing, nearly whacking herself in the face with the thing before falling back with the soldiers.

"Gyah! That was... Ah... You're not gonna tell anyone back home about this, right?" And then she's firing off another shot behind her, controlling the recoil considerably better after the first time (but not necessarily aiming any better).
Yulia Koslova     This mecha was designed with space combat in mind, and it's really showing that in this fight. Dark smoke is trailing from the holes in its armor, and there's some worrysome electrical sparking coming from the slagged hole in its helmet. The sled is wobbling a bit now too, though it's managing to stay aloft for now. Inside, there are warning blips about the heat fromt he rifle, croded with all of the other warnings that she's currently ignoring
Yulia doesn't look behind her as she talks to Rose. "We may have to ditch. Find a map, store, don't display." Attention goes back to the bogies as they make another pass, and she toggles a switch on her console to bring up her missile launch controls. Her thumb hovers over the launch button as she tries to get the one closer to center in direct sights - these things fire with dead recogning or not at all. "Come on...hold still..."
The sled shudders under her as more plasma volleys slam into it, then lists. But if it brings them in closer... "Fire!" she yells, completely unnecessarily as she jabs the button and lets all six missiles fly.
Staren     Okay. They're running out of time. <"You have to get going!"> Staren radios to Yulia, turning his attention to the sky. The interceptors want a fight?

The remaining plasma minimissiles launch, as well as a half-dozen anti-tank micromissiles.

He starts dragging the unconscious snake lady towards extraction. Maybe the doc can learn something from her. If she's too heavy, he'll put a piece of flesh in a sample container so the doc can analyze her DNA or something.

If the interceptors /still/ won't give Yulia a chance to escape, he'll instead pull a rocket launcher out of his bag and give the interceptors /two/ targets to worry about!
Samira Amirmuaz     With the help of Karian's Thunderhawks, most of what was left of the opposition was gone, and what had formerly been a slum now looked like any old warzone. Giant gouges and craters in the earth, more buildings shattered, the highway utterly ruined. At least once they're gone, there doesn't seem to be any more enemies. Now it's the residents who have been witnessing this fight, seen casualties amongst themselves, are in a panic. There would probably be an ADVENT crackdown here later.

Jackobi sort of just rolls his eyes at the display. He was obviously tempted to take his gun back before she actually managed to shoot a friendly, but prioritizes getting the hell out of there first. Kelly's soon with him, and Olivera and DeGaspard soon come as well, with the hostage held between them in shock. The blue signal flare gets dropped at their feet for the Skyranger to scream over. "Ropes dropping, get in the goddamn ship!" Firebrand commands.

Up in the sky, Yulia's trick manages to blow one of the interceptors out of the air, leaving a burning wreckage that plows into a building's second floor and will probably set the whole thing alight. The final ship was quickly turning around to make another pass on the giant robot, but Staren interfered. Missle Massacres were a thing, Staren. Eventually, there's just too many to avoid, and it catches a couple explosions along it's port side, flops over, and slams into a highway pillar. Down goes that.

Was it a warzone, now? Or was it a hell of it's own? Better get out before the rest of the place falls into it.
Karian Icefang     With the hostage secured, there was no reason to remain. Karian and his forces pile onto the waiting thunderhawk and the take off into the distance at speed. Two thunderhawks remain behind to escort Yulia and the Skyranger to safety.
Yulia Koslova     <I'd love to!> Yulia radios back at Staren. She's not trying to snap at him, but it was pretty brusque.
Missiles strike home - some hers, some that most definitely were not - and her head turns to watch them fall...and that knot in the pit of her stomach tightens further. She forces herself to take a deep breath and to concentrate on her own survival. Like, getting out of here post haste right now.
The Doga has developed a tilt to the left, but it's definitely beating a retreat now that the Interceptors are down and the way is relatively clear.
Samira Amirmuaz     Everyone stuck to a rope down there gets lifted up into the Skyranger's hold amidst plenty of verbal abuse from Firebrand. Everyone gets strapped down as fast as possible, and then is screaming as fast as she can from the city in the opposite direction of the coming UFO. Thank goodness it's ridiculously fast, even under full load... they'll all be leaving Razor Ridge to deal with the fallout from this. Nothing like knowing that their victory here is probably going to come at a steep cost... Now, or later.
