Isabelle Mercer     It's a hot afternoon in the ruins of South America, a helicopter lands in a clearing near the proposed dig site. "Some of the scouts confirmed there were no natives or inhabatants around for three hundred kilometers. Now, everyone should have a pickaxe and a set of brushes." comes Isabelle's voice, those twinbraids swerving some as she tilts her head. "And if you don't have a set of archaeology attire, I think there's a few spare clothes on the heli."

With a lift of her pickaxe, she turns around and sets off, "It shouldn't be too far to the dig site, and we don't have much time... the sun will set in roughly five hours. Doing a dig in the dark isn't my idea of a good time."
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli arrived late, of course. After all, she flew there. Her wings of water slowly dissipated as she made her way to the ground, landing around the humans. She looked around nervously, eying the big, metal pikes. "And... and those are the... weapons, correct?" She did, of course, take the clothing. Not because she needed it. But because it was a new way to find a lapis! After a few moments she came out, in the lil archeology hat, shirt and shorts. "Does this appear like the real me?" she asked nervously. She then glanced to Isabelle.

"Five hours is not much? Then why did you not land the plane on the area itself, to better facilitate an expedited attack?"
Reinhardt Wilhelm     It's a good thing the Crusader suit has body temp regulators, otherwise this would be fucking unbearable for Reinhardt. However, he's dressed for the occasion with a Union issue uniform. Slung over his shoulders is a rifle, but mostly for self-defense. It's a Heckler and Koch from the Union's armories, similar to the rifle issued to the German army in his day if not an ancestor to the guns he trained on as a young recruit.

"Close enough!" He gives a thumbs up to Lapis, grinning as he dons a boonie hat, and hops off the helo, following Isabelle loyally. "IF things go to pot, can I count on the helicopter to drop my suit off where we'll be?" He asks, the Crusader suit currently sitting on the Helicopter in a storage crate.
Kirito Kirito is perhaps noooooooooot the most ideal choice for archaeology stuff. But getting to know allies in this crazy organization people call the Union, that has merit.

But as always, he goes nowhere that might prove dangerous as himself. THE BLACK SWORDSMAN, Spriggan of Alfheim, is here. Not that he's letting on he's anything special until he hops clear of the helicopter and stretches... then begins fingering through an Augmented-Reality menu that only he can see. His seemingly-ordinary black attire - black pants, a black shirt, black everything really - is replaced on the fly with a few flashes of light into his traditional adventuring clothes. A cap he'd been wearing vanishes, revealing pointy fairy ears.

Then his coat pocket wriggles and OUT FLIES Yui!

"Really, papa. Did we have to take such a slow vehicle? I couldn't even see out the window..." Yui indignantly pouts whilst she addresses her tiny floral-styled dress. Kirito's expression turns a bit chagrined. "Had to stay inconspicuous. Other worlds like ours can be twitchy..." He's sounding apologetic indeed, but beelining for one of the pickaxes and brushes...

Though he turns towards Isabelle afterwards, folding his arms. "So what's the plan?"
Tomoe Tomoe hops out of the chopper it was interesting to get a lift in an early model of such a machine. It was a bit of a ride in and of it self but it wasn't too much trouble for the very Tall Salamander, right? She'll hop out her boots crunching on the ground as she lands she looks over to Lapis for a moment.

"Hey there welcome aboard I'm Tomoe and ... hey it was fun Yui. Come on you know how uncomon it is for us to do something like that!"

She makes a face at Yui then grins at Kirito for a moment before turning to face Isabelle and wave to German Giant, aka Reinhardt.

I'm ready here, and I don't fault you. To work at night would mean we need to bring in some pretty heavy gear."
Isabelle Mercer     Isabelle chuckled at the antics her rag-tag squad of pesudo-archaeologists she gathered.. "The heli will be able to drop it off if you need it, I don't forsee us needing it but..." she looks to everyone involved. Kirito looked like he could fight and she knew Tomoe could fight.. Reinhardt was prepared, but Lapis? She knew nothing about her. "Looking good, Lapis Lazuli." she comments, as the flashing of light catches her eye from the Spriggan. "H...how did you do that?"

She shakes her head, "Nevermind, daylight is burning, friends. Now, just be careful and we'll be out of here with some new artifacts, I hope. Now everyone, grab a pickaxe, some brushes and let's get going." Yui, gets a curious look ... "How cute." she grins, walking off towards the dig site as the Helicopter spins down.

Meanwhile, at the digsite, the old stone buildings seem to be intact, pillars crumbled... and its all dusty and dirty and prime pickings for the group of archaeologists!
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli nodded, smiling happily at the compliments. Yes, the sole reason she came, to be honest. The others were out so there was no one to offer her positive reinforcement. Which she fed on. "Will there be much water there? It will make anything I do easier." Then she finds her eyes drawn on the little fairy. She moves up to it.

"Such an... interesting bird." And so, of course, she tried to catch it. And ummmm, she wasn't exactly the most delicate, her hands suddenly snapping out and trying to grab it. "Is it a type of parrot? I've heard the parrots are the birds that can talk. There was an entire episode of little buttler devoted to it."
Kirito Spotting eyes on her, Yui curtseys cutely in midair for Isabelle! "Salutations!" Ever mindful of manners, that little pixie. Except when Kirito's done something that earns him a scolding... but another figure's on approach...

And Yui and Kirito both were not prepared for Lapis' snatchings! Yui yelps helplessly as the hand closes around her, leaving her struggling against the grip, both eyes closed. "That hurts! Let go!!"

It is at least a good thing that Yui doesn't have an HP Meter...

Kirito, though, he reacts almost INSTANTLY. A hand goes to the black blade sheathed across his back... and somehow smoothly draws it. Never mind how impractical that would be in reality...

"You heard my daughter. /Let go./" Perhaps an overreaction, but Kirito's veeeeeeeeeeeeeery protective towards family.
Reinhardt Wilhelm     Reinhardt nods, "Good. I didn't want to come out wearing it, knowing the climate might make doing so impractical. Hopefully I won't need it, today." He concedes, before he ambles along. As he slings a pickaxe over his shoulder, noting Yui and Kirito curiously, Reinhardt has to wonder how their relationship works. Adoption would be his guess.

"Release her, Lapis. She's not a bird, she's...err..." He goes from stern commander to awkward grampa within seconds, regarding Yui with puzzlement. "...a fairy, perhaps?"
Tomoe Tomoe says "Well I'm ready to go, let's see what we can find right?" Tomoe will get Pickaxe and get ready to do the heavy lifting. She knows the real work will be done by Isabelle while she's one of the people doping the heavy lifting. She looks at Lapis and Yui for a moment she sees how things are getting tense.

"Easy, she's not a bird that's Yui a she's a fairy..."
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli held the bird only a moment, about to let her go when the thing expressed pain. "Oh! I'm sor--" And then she saw that sword. Her grip tightened slightly as her entire body reacted badly. The panic and fear was evident in her eyes and she took a step back, her hands already shaking. She reached out with her magic, but there wasn't any water for her to grab.

She then looked down at the little bird, then the sword, and quickly dropped it, shaking her head. "I-I-I'm sorry I-I didn't mean, I-I thought, it was just, I thought, I-I never meant to, I-I was..." She took another step back.

"I-I'm sorry please don't shatter me..." She then turned tail and fled, her wings sprouting from her back and heading off ahead of the group rapidly, making her way to the ruins to wait for them, away from that blade. She'd just need a few moments to regather herself, that was all.
Isabelle Mercer     Isabelle blinks, hearing the yelp as she turns around rapidly. "What is going on here?!" a frown is upon her face and Kirito's sword is drawn... "Put that away now! This is an expedition, not an arena!" she shouts, "And what person brings their DAUGHTER to an expedition?" she shakes her head a bit, a bit thankful for Reinhardt's comments there. Though with Lapis running away after that, she sighs, turning to Kirito... "We're supposed to be picking on rocks, not threatening each other..."

Another sigh is given and she turns around, those twinbraids swing around and she starts forward. "She'll come back, I hope." it's not long, however, until the group does reach the ruins, "We'll each take a small section, if you find something interesting, be careful and dust it with a brush to reveal it. We should be able to find a few things with the manpower we have here... Just be careful not to disturb the ruins too much..."

There's a small lake nearby, hidden by a few bushes, perfect for drinking or washing off in, if one needed to.
Kirito Yui yelps harder at the sudden change of grip but the instant she's released she goes ZOOMING about leaving a trail of pixie dust that leads right to Kirito's pocket. IN she dives, pulling the pocket flap shut as if hoping it can protect her.

Kirito's pretty wide-eyed at the whole debacle of Lapis running off though. The hostile air around him vanishes pretty quickly after realizing Yui's alright. With a sigh of disgust he slams the sword back into its scabbard.

Questioning himself. Why did he go so far as to actually DRAW the sword instead of just put a hand on it? That's troubling, he should have more self control! But...

"You alright, Yui?" A muffled noise is his confirmation. Kirito can only sigh a bit an try to queel his heartbeat some. Not so easy. That put him instantly on edge.

He gives Tomoe an apologetic look, but it turns a bit sour at Isabelle when he looks back her way. The urge to make a smarmy comment rises...

"Oh, I don't know. What sort of person asks for Elites and thinks one's daughter must be a helpless child? Yui's a full-fledged Navigation Pixie with some pretty useful skills. Plus.... she actually can't wander too far from me." The sarcastic tone dwindles off as he walks, and finishes with, "It's a long and weird story."

He's got his eyes and ears open though, waiting for Lapis' return....

The Spriggan regards the landscape, hoping his treasure hunting senses will give him any revelations. "What exactly are we supposed to discover out here?"
Reinhardt Wilhelm     Reinhardt shrugs a shoulder at Isabelle. "If she can handle it, I see no issue with it." He opines, before he approaches the ruins. "Tell me, Ms. Mercer, what do you know about this place? Who built it?" He asks, wandering into the ruins without an inch of fear on him as he walks on in.

    Weclome to Reinhardt, folks.
Tomoe Tomoe sees that no real harm ahas been done and She seems to relax now she seems to give Kirito a bit of a look as it did almost come to a fight there. "Come one we had some culture clash? Nothing o fight about lets's get moving shall we?" She looks to Kirito nodding se's not going to press this further and she now follows up Isabelle.

"Right use the pick for heavy moving when we get to something go for finer tools."

With a grin she's getting to work with the pick once she gets a good spot.
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli was waiting at the lake for them. And actually feeling a lot better now. So long as she kept at least one person between herself and Kirito, she'd be fine. Granted, once she realized the task at hand, she started to raise the lake and was preparing to pressure wash the entire ruins, like a car wash,

Once the others informed her that that was a BAD idea, she'd drop the lake back down.

She'd then take one of the pick axes... then just make a few water clones of the assorted people that were with them. One of each. Then the clones would take the pickaxes and head into the ruins. "So just dig through everything but books, correct?" She'd uhhh... need to be monitored. But at least that meant more bodies to use.
Isabelle Mercer     "I don't care much for that tone, Kirito." Isabelle comments before letting it go aside.. Once the group gets to where they need to go, "Good question, I don't know. Supposedly this is a place where an ancient civilization once lived, so if you can find anything that looks strange or reminicent of living life, let me know. Bones, pottery, weirdly shaped stone that isn't something you chipped off..." she twirls her pickaxe and sets herself aside to do some work.

"To pass the time, I dont' think i met any of you in person.. save for Tomoe. Care to introduce yourselves to me? It'd be nice!"
Kirito Kirito's face turns briefly grumpy at Isabelle's response, but reaching their goal finally washes it clean away. He falls in next to Tomoe and folds his arms, scanning the layout. "Well, let's see. An ancient people would have to live close to the water, so this lake--" He STARES at Lapis' antics...

"Er, the lake side's a good place to start. Or any nearby rivers. You're not making any settlements without a serious freshwater supply. Can you scan the whole LAKE?" He asks warily of Lapis. "Like things at the bottom. Do your powers work like that? Because there might be stuff just off shore."

He then sprouts wings and zooms off into the sky, although stays fairly low to give the whole are a once-over. He's looking for the highest, flattest ground...
Reinhardt Wilhelm     Reinhardt begins to rifle through pottery, setting aside a nice little pile of little knickknacks for Isabelle to appraise later. "Fascinating. I wish I knew more about this stuff myself..." He muses, trying not to disturb any relics with his grubby fingerprints. He brought GLOVES for this reason, after all!
Tomoe Tomoe is digging away with her pick axe, she gets the idea clear out the heavy stuff and find what they are after. She'll take a moment every couple of swings to check for anything and she's doing her best to pick anything out he's not had any luck yet but she's clearly paying attention to her work.

"I'm honestly a college drop out at this point, I found something else but it took a whgile to find something that works for me."

Even as she works away. "Right Reinhardt? If we don't learn from the past we'll do the same things our ancestors did over and over again."
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli shook her head. "No, of course not. But I can do this." She lifts up a hand and the lake begins to rise up, the entirety of it, leaving the water under it dry and a bit muddy. "Just let me know if this is enough." Meanwhile, her clones were still picking away at things. She didn't even seemed strained by the lake. "I can hold it up as long as needed, just let me know if you require anything under it."

She then paused. "You are all human and require air to breath, right?"
