Janine Liberi     The meeting place is Pechschwarz, a cafe known for attracting those into Germany's black metal scene. The harsh noise is blaring over the speakers, which have to be put in cages to keep the rowdy patrons from smashing them when a song they hate comes up. It's dimly lit, matching the name, and business is slow. It's 11am after all, the usual patrons are sleeping off last night's hangover.

The man behind the bar glowers as everyone comes in, but it's part of the experience. Janine waves people over from a grubby corner booth, the least grubby and tagged part of the place somehow. Sitting with her already is Alexis Eberhardt and Johnny Bridgeston.

Alexis was the first person they saved from the Forest, a classmate of some renown due to her singing voice. She's hat her long black hair cut short recently, and looks like she hasn't slept properly since she was rescued. She's quite pretty, but the pallid demeanour and bags under her eyes mar it a little.

Johnny Bridgeston is the picture of the American exchange student. Tall, blonde with a spray of freckles across his face. The track star who dabbles in rumours looks a little more confident that Alexis, but his eyes constantly flick around and his fingernails are chewed to the nub.

But the strangest thing is Janine herself.

Her hair, rather than the usual greasy curls, has been washed, conditioned and straightened. She's not wearing a low-effort plain dress, but is dressed in the fashions she used to wear. Hell, she even has subtle makeup on!

Something is rotten in the Pechschwarz Cafe, but Johnny speaks up to be heard over the guttural sounds from the speakers.

"So what's going on?! And who are you people?!"
Emily Branford     "I'm Janine's butler, of course," Emily Branford replies immediately.

In such a grunge-tastic cafe, a finely-dressed, impeccably-mannered butler sticks out like a sore thumb. But that's not gonna stop Emily from standing there beside the table as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
William Pauwel     Will is ALSO IN THIS MYSTERIOUS AND SKETCHY PLACE. However, they also don't exactly have Death Metal back on Tellus, and quite honestly, it's not the kind of music that Will particularly enjoys! Way too loud. Way too screamy. Instead, he's decided to just shove a couple of plugs into his ears. They'll need to yell loud enough to be heard over the music anyway, so blocking out most of the noise probably won't hurt, right? RIGHT.

"Howdy!" Will says, dropping into one of the available seats with a grin on his face and a friendly sparkle in his eyes. He's... Still in his cowboy-y gear, though, so Johnny probably thinks he's crazy, weird, and/or awesome. One of those. Or all of the above.

"Name's Will Pauwel! I don't think we've met. I joined up with these guys after y'all had yer... accidents. Nice to meet y'all, though! Uh. Kind of hard to talk in here though, inn't it?" It's pretty noisy, even through his earplugs.
Yuna Kagurazaka "Pechschwarz," Yuna murmurs as she makes her way through the city. Elner's on high cover, flitting around at rooftop level to both watch out for possible trouble and guide Yuna to the right location. "What does that translate as, anyway? 'Black' something -"

The doors to the cafe open for somebody to go in or out, and Yuna flinches back a couple of steps from the volume ... well, no. Technically it's not the volume she's backing off from; it's the noise which is labeled as 'music'. Yuna's actually okay with *some* forms of heavy metal, but it's a delicate balance, and always an acquired taste - acquired, in many cases, by dint of conscious and determined efforts. Being able to turn the volume down would be nice, too, but that's one option she won't have here. She's also harboring a few recent memories of Drowned Ophelia's audial assaults, and those recollections are still too fresh to be comfortable.

Fortunately, she has earplugs of her own; she just didn't think she would need them. A moment's work, and then she heads in as well, smiling (maybe a little warily) at the bartender and joining the others at that table in the corner. She probably stands out too, dressed as she is in her Beacon Academy uniform - sure, it's not Alberichstadt, but when the call came in while Yuna was finishing up yet another make-up assignment, it was convenient. "Hello!" she greets the new faces, waving briefly. "I'm Yuna Kagurazaka, I've been helping Janine and her friends with stuff."

She takes a seat; somehow, bowing - while it'd be polite in Japan - seems a LITTLE out of place here.
Rebecca Chambers Death Metal. Something that Rebecca is used to hearing blasted on Friday nights in an adjacent dormitory at Raccoon University when she was trying to study for exams. People were partying when she just wanted to get her studies done. While her studies turned out all right, she never did acquire a taste for death metal, meaning that she does cringe noticeably when the music starts blasting. She quickly dons a pair of earplugs as well, carefully designed to insert quickly and expand even quicker. Better than earmuffs, that's for sure.

Dressed in a casual attire instead of her usual S.T.A.R.S. attire in an attempt to avoid drawing excessive attention to her, Rebecca smiles a little as she attempts to introduce herself, although it's easy to see she's forcing the smile. "I'm Rebecca Chambers, and I'm also working with Janine and her friends." She declines to mention her affiliation with S.T.A.R.S. or being an officer, instead just giving the impression she's a civilian.
Finna "Time for a meet and greeeeeeeet!" Finna comes bounding on in wearing a blue skirt and a silver blouse. A bit weird, but it's local stuff! ... Local to Europe, anyways.

Including the tall, fuzzy, plush 'top hat' she's wearing, in the style of a heavy drinking glass. 'GOT MEAD?' is boldly printed on the front...

Handy thing for hiding her fox ears. Just as the skirt hides her tail. Of course, the typical array of tattoos is similarly missing. She's just a young woman today!

"The name's Finna! Relax a bit. I don't bite." The oddly-dressed Haslanti makes a beeline for the appropriate table...
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa understood the rules and felt confident enough if Ainsley was still involved here? She'd be wise to follow her lead and hope they can keep doing good here. The Request on weaponry is noted and she thinks about getting an limb with an internal weapon to go on top of the eelware she has already installed. IF it came to trouble she should be able to handle her self either way, right? Kotone's clothing was normal enough maybe odd but not past the relm of someone with odd fashion taste in this time and age. She also thinks about changing her hair hide her jacks better but for now this should be enough, right?

After Will introsduces himself Kotone iwll follow it up for a moment.

"Kotone Yamakawa."

he seeme like a strange woman but she doesn't seem hostile as she mves to sit down as well. She also gives Finna a bi of a look for amoment then seems pleased she's done some effort to hide her featurs though the top hat? That might need some talking about later.
August Kohler Well, Janine was right, no one will be able to overhear them. August walks in quietly, dressed in a hoodie, as he carefully grabs a pair of earplugs, puts them in, and turns towards Yuna. "Pitch-black." The music is loud and annoying, but August doesn't make that clear. They have work to do.

"August Kohler. Myself and Janine are the only natives here." Odd thing to say, seeing as neither come from Alberichstadt. He gives them a moment to see if they recall who he is, before continuing. "We can answer that question, but I guess we have one first. What do you remember? Obviously, you remember something, seeing as you approached Janine."
Janine Liberi     Janine gets a look from the pair. Elites of the school they may be, but neither can boast having a personal butler. Janine herself tries not to look smug about it. Will gets a derisive look from Johnny. "What are you supposed to be, some kind of cow... boy..." His words slow as puzzle pieces fall into place in his mind. "That rumor about a Sci-Fi Cowboy. Is that you?" he asks, leaning across the table. In doing so, he notices Yuna and mutters. "You were there, right? When I was..."

Alexis politely nods her head to Rebecca and Kotone, but Finna gets A Look. Not just because of her outfit (which gets her an extra helping of glares from the cafe owner), but a look of recognition. "And you were there when I was rescued, right?"

And finally, August. The two barely seem to recognize the scholarship student, and his question gives them an out in admitting it. "When he went missing and came back," Alexis begins, gesturing at Johnny. "I thought he might have gone through the same thing, so I asked. We talked about it, and he vaguely remembered you." She gestures at Janine, who snorts. "I should hope so, after that rumor he spread about me."

Johnny at least has the good graces to look abashed by it. "Y-Yeah. So we want to know; what happened to us exactly? What are you people?"
Yuna Kagurazaka Yuna is normally fairly grateful for the Multiversal translation effect - one thing which didn't get jumbled all to hell and back by the Upheaval. Occasionally, though, she wishes it weren't quite so convenient. 'Pitch black' isn't what she'd guessed the cafe's name meant, but ... well, it makes sense, given the theme. And the music. Especially the music.

No wonder she feels a little ill at ease.

Still, she catches that Johnny's question is not 'who are you people,' but 'what are you people'. So it's more the wording of the question that makes her wince than the cafe's less-than-pleasant taste in ambience. Still, Janine was right - nobody's going to overhear the conversation.

"I think I was, yes," Yuna answers Johnny with a nod. "As far as what happened to you two," she continues, "this is probably going to be difficult to accept off the bat ... but you were dragged into an alternate dimension for a little while. That's the simplest truthful description of what happened. Who we are ... well, we try to be the good guys dealing with the Mirror Forest - that alternate dimension - and protecting people from what it can do to people, but that's about all we've got in common. I'm not from around here, so the nature of what I can do is different from what the others - like Janine and August in particular - can do."

And she wonders how much more than that she should say; just because they're unlikely to be overheard doesn't mean that they *can't* draw additional outside attention.
William Pauwel     'That rumor about a Sci-Fi Cowboy' huh? Will can't help but grin. Is this what it's like to be ~famous?~ He fights back a great big old laugh and instead just sort of tips his hat at the exchange student's question. "I suppose from y'all's perspective, I would be! But back home, I ain't all that special." An entire world full of Sci-Fi Cowboys, how terrifying.

Not exactly /accurate/ perhaps, but still.

"What exactly happened to you two, well--" Will sniffs. Nobody can hear it, because holy crap is it loud in here. "I ain't exactly the best to answer that, but suffice it to say, it was some really weird shit. Like 'parallel worlds inside mirrors' levels of weird." He shrugs, then, "I've only been there a few times, myself, but it's enough to know that it's some pretty serious stuff."

"As for /what/ I am, well!" He leans back and smiles, "I'm just a passin' through gunslinger. Human, like you! Except for the ways I ain't like you."
Emily Branford     Emily does not allow any sort of smugness to show on her face. That would be unbecoming.

Nor does she show any amusement at Johnny's reaction to Will. None whatsoever. No sir.
Rebecca Chambers Rebecca simply stands attentively, but says nothing for the time being. She's not as keen on this whole thing as Yuna and some of the others are, so instead she simply nods her head as the others speak their parts. The way she sees it, she'll listen in, and if there's something she recognizes, she'll speak up.

There is the point where it's asked what these people are, and Rebecca politely replies, "I'm with the Special Tactics And Rescue Service as a field medic, and I also specialize in dealing with Bio-Organic Weapons. Those are... well, let's just say they're monsters created by scientific means."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa nods to Alexis for a moment and she's keeping quite she knoews to let the natives do most of the talking for the moment she also wants to see just where their mental states are. She listens now humming for a moment as the group starts to char and recall? She thinks her nature should be held back for the moment.

"Honestly I just passed through and stumbled on to the situation, I have been trying to help with it ever since." Vague but entirely hones
Finna "The full story will curl your toes. Nice you remembered me though!" Finna shines a heartwarming smile Alexis' way... though turns it towards the cafe owner a moment later. It's all in good fun, good sir!

She drops her tone to an appropriately quiet level for the table. "What happened... and who am i... let's keep it simple. A guardian. I hunt the monsters who hunt people."
August Kohler August lets the others speak up first, though he chimes in after Rebecca. "All of that is irrelevant right now, mainly. They're not from our world. Consider them aliens." And then, taking a second to compose his thoughts, August looks over the two. "I was there when both of you were rescued, as a note. Basically, the short of the matter: Carl Jung was right. The long of the matter, the Collective Unconsciousness is real, and is a world that exists inside mirrors. Inside are things known as Shadows, the dark parts of humanity, the stuff we want to hide. They kidnapped you in an attempt to replace you, fatally, with Changelings who will serve their will. You probably know of these Changelings as the 'verlonekinder' who have been showing up."

August shuffles in his seat as he says all of this, looking to see their reactions before he continues. "Me and Janine, as well as some other locals, have been given the ability to fight Shadows and venture inside the Mirror Forest, the world within. These outsiders are entirely unconnected to it, being part of a completely different situation, but they've been helping us out." And then a pause. A very long pause. "This is the truth, by the way. Any questions can be answered as needed."
Janine Liberi     A lot of terms are being thrown at the teens right now. Monster hunters, bioweapon specialists, gunslinger. The very idea of another world inside the mirror is ridiculous. It's like dealing with August and Janine early on all over again.

"So what, you're a bunch of superheroes? Are you kidding me? Do you have any idea how ridiculous this all sounds? Other worlds, fighting monsters? How does no one know about this?!" Alexis exclaims, color rushing to her face in the form of a flush as the corners of her eyes become wet. It seems like whatever answer she was hoping for, this wasn't it.

"It is kind of hard to swallow," Johnny says too, looking around. "Is there... something subtle you can show us? I mean, you did apparently save us but..."
Emily Branford     Calmly, Emily steps over beside the table, takes a trio of napkins, and places a single coin under one of them. The gestures practically scream 'classic shell game'.

"Keep your eye on the coin," she adds, as if it needed to be said.

And with her back to the room, so that her body conceals what she's doing from anyone not at the table, she begins to swap them. Slowly at first, but then faster, and faster, and faster- and then with no warning, her hands very briefly become an inhuman blur.

Then they stop all at once. "Now, which napkin is the coin under?"
Yuna Kagurazaka Meanwhile, August asks something; Yuna digs in her purse briefly and pulls out a makeup compact, handing it across the table to August.

He only needs one particular part of it, of course, but the rest of it comes with.
August Kohler August asks for something over his phone, and Yuna delivers. When she does, he picks up the mirror, and shows it to Alexis and Johnny. "Would you like to touch this mirror now or later?" It's an odd question, though he waits to see if they touch it. It's solid, of course, whether they do or don't. Afterwards, he turns to put the mirror in a position that would face everyone, takes one finger...

And puts it straight through the mirror. It's as of the reflective surface is warping, but the size of the mirror prevents a further showing. August waits a moment, before slowly removing his finger, allowing the mirror to snap back to solid. "If that's not enough, I can take one of you to the bathroom and climb through that one right in front of you."
Rebecca Chambers "We're... I mean, I'm not a superhero, no," Rebecca says while biting her lower lip briefly. "I admit, fighting monsters sounds far-fetched, but I can assure you that I thought something like that was a bit far-fetched as well." She sighs a little. "I don't blame you if you don't believe us though." Rebecca looks down at the floor a little, feeling like she's struggling for words at this point.

After a moment of thought, Rebecca looks to the others in hopes that they can try to pick up the pace. If there's one thing Rebecca hates, it's being unable to find the right words...
Finna "Can show you all kinds of things.. not in town though." Finna murmurs, regretting this fact. she likes to show off a little! Well, a lot.

But she's trying to behave herself today.
William Pauwel The others seem to have the whole 'subtle demonstrations' thing covered, so Will (thankfully) doesn't whip out any of his more unusual inventions. Yet. That'll wait for the UNSUBTLE demonstrations. "Naw, I ain't no superhero. Like I said, I'm just a gunslinger. And an inventor. Annnnd an explorer." Will coughs into a fist. "'Course, August and Janine have some REAL cool things they could show off. Just... Not here."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "Yes I do know how insane it sounds, it's honesly why we try to keep thigns more quiet and it to being more simple. She thinks for a moment as she tracks the shell game with rapid speed and listens to August as he fires of fquestions. "Yes if you want to ask anything please do we'll try to answer it as best we can but it may sound like something out of fiction, just as a warning."
Janine Liberi     Emily steps up first and does a coin trick. The two seem unimpressed at first... until she reaches speeds beyond human capability. Johnny is in track, he knows speed and knows how significant this is. Reluctantly, he reaches out to touch the napkin on the right.

Alexis takes the compact mirror and pokes it, checks all the sides, and then actually takes some of the makeup to apply it to herself, how rude. But in the end, she is satisfied and hands it back, only to audibly gasp when August inserts his finger. "That's... normally in tricks they hide it but... you actually stuck your whole finger in..."

Everyone else only has assurances to offer, so the two just sit there quietly, mulling on all of this. "So... what do we do now?" Alexis croaks.
Emily Branford     "...my goodness, you've some eye on you," Emily replies, drawing back the napkin. The coin is under it. "Or perhaps just a fair bit of luck. There's not many who can keep track of my full speed." She nudges the coin Johnny's way, then takes a smooth step back to one side and returns to her silence.
William Pauwel What to do now. That's always the question, isn't it?

"I dunno," Will says, being the most helpful person in the history of ever. "I ain't never been in a situation like yours. But I guess the only thing to really do now is to decide what role y'all want to play in this whole thing. I mean, there's stuff going on that's hurting a whole lot of people. There's a lot you could do, knowing that. You could just go back to living your normal life, or you could help August and Janine and the rest of us, or you could do something else."

"You should probably figure out how to defend yourself, regardless." He shrugs. "I dunno about what the Mirror Forest will do to the ones that got away, but I doubt it'll be good."
Damita Stark      Do you know who goes to clubs on a regular basis? Damita Stark.
Do you know who showed up before everyone else to rock out and forgot about the meeting?

     Damita Stark.

Still clad in an opened black jacket, Damita eventually swings her way over to the booth after realizing she knows and doesn't know some of the people sitting there. She casually leans over the table as she wanders over, a cheerful grin plastered on her face before she chirps out. "Helllooooo people--" A two second pause- "Of sorts that I do and do not know." There's a beat. "... what've I missed?"
August Kohler August returns the mirror to Yuna once he's done with his trick, and watches as both Alexis and Johnny are suddenly understanding that this is all real. He was going to say something, but Will basically already said the long form, so August says the short form. "You still have free will. What do you want to do?"

And then Damita arrives! As she approaches, August tips his head briefly to her, before speaking cautiously. "We're explaining to them about the Mirror Forest, Stark. Please don't draw too much attention to us."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "Self defence and there's no promises if you leave the region it won't be elsewhere. We can only confirm that it's isolated to this world for now, what I will also say is we are not looking to drag you into this further if you do not wish it, and will do what we can to help you." She looks at the group sadly but it is the truth so far as she has the data for and Damita arrives that wasn't expected but it is welcome though. She looks to August and then to Yuna not sure if she should say more.
Finna "Well. If you weren't in this city, you'd PROBABLY safe. Can't enter the funny forest outside this city, so chances are things from it can't leave elsewhere either. Probably wouldn't bother chasing that far..." Finna's tone isn't so into this idea though. She's just not one for running away.
Yuna Kagurazaka Yuna makes sure the mirror is clean before closing the compact and tucking it back into her purse; she also waves (sort of subduedly) to Damita. But Alexis has a very good question, and that's where Yuna turns her attention.

"You were dragged into the Mirror Forest but you don't have any powers of your own, right?" Yuna asks them, her tone gentle and friendly. "Off-hand ... well, I doubt you'll be targeted twice, but I don't know as much about the Forest as August and the others do. I can understand not wanting to leave Alberichstadt for anything less than your lives absolutely being in danger, so ... the best you can probably do is to stick close to one of us whenever you're able. Have you seen anything weird in mirrors since you were rescued, though? Anything that didn't look like it was definitely just your reflection, or a reflection of whatever was really behind you outside of the mirror? Anything 'funny' at all?"
Rebecca Chambers Rebecca isn't being quiet becuase she's shy at the time, she's just not sure what to say really, since she's still a little wet behind the ears with the way things work here. She does look up and give a slight nod to Damita, but that's about it.
Janine Liberi     The pair look deeply uncomfortable as everyone starts talking about them defending themselves. Until Janine speaks up with, "Hold on a fucking minute, who said they should learn to fight? It's our job to keep this place safe isn't it? And I know, 'hurr durr be prepared' but it's kinda defeatist isn't it?"

"No, not like that," Alexis says. "I meant, how can we help? Help you, I mean. You did save our lives, least we can do," she murmurs awkwardly. Not one for graciousness it seems. "She's right," Johnny says, a bit more confidently. "I'm just some jerk who goes fast and spread rumors, but if there's anything I can do..."

And then Damita shows up. The two boggle at her, being the most 'popular' of the natives. "You're in on this?!" Alexis exclaims. Johnny looks at Yuna and shakes his head. "Haven't seen anything like that, no. Believe me, I look at my reflection a lot, so I would notice." Alexis just wordlessly nods with him. Being elite at Drachenblatt means a lot of preening.
Emily Branford     "There is one thing you can do for us, and it won't even require you to be in danger," Emily replies, finally speaking up. "Be our eyes and ears. We're in the business of saving people from the Forest. The earlier we can get to them, the better their odds, and there are signs to be looked for. And this lot," she adds with a nod to the group, "Have started to gain a reputation for being a bit... odd. The two of you don't quite have that issue, and moreover, two more ears to the ground is never a bad idea. You could mind the whisper campaigns for us. Students that have gone missing, students behaving oddly. Any odd sort of underground rumor about the occult or arcane that springs up. That sort of thing."
Damita Stark      "Oh, right, location. Sorry." Damita sounds slightly ashamed, before finding a seat by either a booth or finding her own chair. For all it is she's joining a group of friends! Or at least, acquantices. Drachenblatt Academy clique politics, ladies and gentlemen. At the exclamation from Alexis, Damita shoots her a look, before lifting a shoulder and letting it drop.

"I make my way around." She glances at Emily, before nodding in agreeance. "We need the information. The more we know about, the safer it is for *everyone*."
August Kohler August chimes in with Janine. "She's right. We have Bruckheim and Ainsley to prove that it's too dangerous for them, they don't have Personas." He glances at them with a look like 'will explain later'. Instead, he ponders at the two. "I agree with Branford. Though there is something you can do for us right now. You hear of anything suspicious in general going around the city? We're trying to find a person, but have basically no leads. Actually, lemme check my description of her, you might know her." August pulls out his phone, checks something, and then continues.

"It's, uh, a very vague description. Teenage woman, between 5'8 and 5'11. 'Upper end of a healthy weight', so I assume she's bulky. Anyone fit this that you know?"
William Pauwel     "Hey, I'm just saying that it wouldn't be a bad idea is all," Will sniffs at the rejection of his PATENTED SELF DEFENSE KITS. "Ah, well. Moving fast and keeping ears to the ground can be pretty useful, too. Aaaalso maybe screening when something goes wrong. If someone vanishes, a few rumors mentioning that they're sick, or eloped, or somethin' like that would be pretty useful."
Janine Liberi     Alexis looks to Emily, and gives a single, resolute nod. "I hear a lot of gossip. I can keep an ear out if you all give me a means of getting in touch. If I start hanging out with you all, I'll uh... not be in a good position to hear that stuff." Also she probably doesn't want to lose her rep. But it's as good an excuse as any.

Johnny looks to August and rubs her chin. "Uh, actually... there is /something./ You ever hear of the Wildekinder? It's a bunch of burnouts and Drachenblatt dropouts that hang out, jump kids in our uniform, try and vandalize the school, trash our special events... their leader kind of sounds like they meet that description."

    A lead!
Yuna Kagurazaka Emily made the suggestion before Yuna could give voice to it, and she nods to the butler. She doesn't have a chance to really say anything before the conversation moves on - and Johnny mentions something that could, indeed, be relevant.

"How long have these Wildekinder been wreaking havoc against Drachenblatt's current students?" Yuna inquires. As far as she knows, there *is* a specific timeframe connected to the Mirror Forest ... although, she could just as readily be entirely wrong about that. "And how long has their current leader been running the gang?"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa has been seriously considering getting a weaker but far less noticable shell for snooping about this world. Such as one that looked german or at least European. Either way she would be thinking about the idea of any of the group who were willing to help? Getting eyes and ears would be a huge help and she darn well knows how much information can be worth a hell of a lot. "Humm That's something, to think on Yuna..." What if's been going on longer than anyone was aware of? That the Natives in Die Reisende are just the first ones to get lucky and surive to get a Persona?
August Kohler Well, this is useful information. August types it out on his phone and saves it. "Wildekinder. Alright. We'll take a look into it. Thanks." And then, he writes something down. "Contact information. If anything happens, let us know, alright?"
Damita Stark      "You've gota better ear than I do at this point, Alexis." Damita says, quietly. "There's a reason I'm not-exactly around, both at school and... with this group, mainly since I've been out of the country. So yeah. Try talking to the cheerleaders at some point. They always know more than they let on." Her look is wry as the brunette sighs and leans back against the seat she's in.
Finna "Wildekinder? Now this is something I can look into!" Finna taps her cheek a few times, a look of pure eagerness coming to her face. She's been a bad bored, so something that involves skulking about has her excited.
