Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli had encased a bunch of the mushrooms in ice. In her defense, they had come at her with spears. In their defense, she had flown over their battlements and completely, and utterly, ignored their communications and talks of 'calm down, turn yourself over peacefully, identify yourself'. She was... not the best people person.

And now she was kneeling in front of one and poking it. "What... are you? Are you some kind of plant, thing? Are you like the Pupkin? Did Steven make you?" Poke poke poke.

She was the absolute worst invader. Probably because she wasn't so much invading as just... exploring. And she was the worst at people... personing. Ever. But this place looked kind of like her friend lunas and she wanted to see it. So she didn't understand why she couldn't just fly inside and do what she wanted. Granted, Luna often did tell her to -stop doing that- because it freaked out the guards.
Princess Peach It doesn't take long for a couple of nervous royal guards to come rushing up to Peach inside the castle. She about to go enjoy a little ice skating on the nearby lake but she knew by the serious look on the faces of the two Toads that fun would have to wait. Already dressed in a what looks like a light pink vest styled to look like a short dress, with magenta sleeves covering her arms and matching tights down her long legs. She drops her skates and slips her feet into a pair of white snow boots, tying the pink and white striped laces.

As she finishes getting ready to leave the castle, she also gives a command to the guards. "Quickly lock down the castle and inform everyone to stay in their homes until we know what is really going on. Also, it could be nothing, but send word to the Paladins just in case it is something big and bad. Toad, you're with me. Let's go find out who our newest guest is." The princess and her steward take the rear exit out of the castle and hop on a pink snowmobile, and soon are on their way toward the last known disturbance caused by some unknown invader.
Toph Beifong     Man, more local disturbances going around? Hopefully it won't be too bad, but even so, it needs to be checked out. So Toph Beifong is quick to show up at the castle in the Mushroom Kingdom. Though it would have been better if it hadn't been so much snow here!

Something approaches the castle, though it might be a bit hard to spot as the snow seems to shift in places. As if something was moving underneath the snow.

Is it approaches Lapis though, something bursts out of the ground along with snow, and a certain earthbender appears with her upper torso poking out of the ground along with some unearthed dirt, although she's clad in a winterjacket and with mittens on her hands. "Turn around with your hands up!" she orders, but she suddenly blinks as realisation dawns upon her. "Wait... /Lapis/?" She's met the gem not too many times, but... there's no way she wouldn't recognise the gems considering her powers. "What the crud are you doing here? The Paladins got called in due to a disturbance!" So please explain yourself.
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli blinked. Wait, there was an... She turned and readied herself, the snow lifting up and then... "Oh! Toph!" she said happily, letting the snow fall back to the ground. She stepped towards and... And then gasped. "Wait, what?" And then she looked around.

"Oh! I'm sorry! Is that what these things are called 'Dist-urb-ance-es? I think steven would have called them something far more fitting. Such as Mushpeople. Or... Hurooms. But do not worry, Toph! I have captured all of them!" she said proudly. "You may do with them as you please. I have gotten much better at this 'helping' people thing, haven't I? This time I didn't even realize I was doing it! Rose will be so proud!"
Princess Peach Before long the motor of the snowmobile can be heard, and right around the time Toph emerges from under the snow, the local monarch and her 'mushperson' Toad arrive on the scene, both hopping off the snowmobile. Toad stands at Peach's side and watches both Toph and Lapis, but lets the princess do the talking. Peach listens to the exchange between Toph and Lapis, frowning at her frozen subjects. "Those 'mushpeople' are peaceful people who call this kingdom home, and I was informed that we tried to contact you multiple times to identify yourself and stop causing such a disturbance. I am Princess Peach, and while we're pretty kind and peaceful here in the Mushroom kingdom, I won't stand for attacks on my home and it's people."
Toph Beifong     Oh boy. Toph lets out a groan, then points at the Toads. "Those aren't disturbances, they are the people who live here! You're not supposed to freeze people like that, you can hurt them or even worse kill them!" With that Toph emerges fully from the ground, wincing a bit at the coldness of the snow on her feet. Man, she's so taking a warm footbath later when she gets back to the Ad Coelum! "I dunno about Rose, but you're upsetting the people here!" Gems... really have a lot to learn, don't they?

The arrival of the snowmobile doesn't escape Toph's sensitive ear, and she turns her head. And there she is, the benevolent monarch of this kingdom. "Heya Princess," Toph greets the older girl, then turns back to Lapis. "Just let them go, okay? You gems can be very scary to people who don't know you, it's not like they can harm you, you know?"
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli blinked a few times as they listed those things, and then she gasped. "W-wait, I could kill them? Oh dear!" She lowered her hands and all the ice around them melted almost instantly, freeing them. "I am so, so sorry! I didn't mean to break any of your mushpeople. Tried to..." She blinked and then covered her mouth.

"Oh dear. Is that what that was? I couldn't quite understand what they were saying so I thought it wasn't important. I didn't expect them to charge me when I landed. I just wanted to see the castle up close. It's a lot like the one my friend Luna lives in. My apologies for any trouble I might have caused you. Is there anything I can do to make up for it?"

Then cringed. "Ah. Wait. Yes. Steven says introductions are important. I am Lapis Lazuli, a lapis lazuli of home world! It is nice to meet you, mushpeople!" she said, super cheerful like.
Princess Peach Princess Peach waves back at Toph's greeting, and relaxes a bit as Lapis releases the Toads and while very cold, they look to be unharmed. "Well, maybe next time try to listen a little harder or taking it slow in a place you haven't been before. Some places, even on this world, have people who are not so nice. If you had wandered into Dark Land, you might be locked up in Bowser's dungeon by now. In any case, if you wanted to see the castle, all you had to do is ask. I invite company over frequently and new faces are always welcome as long as they come in peace. For now, I think we should head back to somewhere warmer. Would the two of you like to join me for some tea, coffee, and/or hot cocoa? The castle's kitchen is open to whatever you desire."
Toph Beifong     Whew, crisis averted! Toph looks visibly relieved when Lapis listens to sense and apologises for the misunderstanding. "Next time just fly up if you're uncertain, okay? If they don't chase you then you don't have to fight them if you're uncertain." Hopefully that advice will come in handy and prevent similar situations from happening. Which might make it easier for everyone, including Lapis.

The invitation for tea however does take Toph slightly by surprise, and she blinks. "... uh, sure?" It's not like she's in a rush to get back, and well, neither Peach nor Lapis seem like the boring type of people to have hot drinks with, considering the stiff tea parties she's used to from her childhood. "So we're headed over to the castle then? I'll catch you there!" With that Toph kicks into the ground and tunnels herself down, even as the sound of rumbling underneath them moves towards the castle.
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli nodded. "Oh, yes. Well, I'm not particularly cold. And I don't eat. But I am learning how to cook! I would very much appreciate a chance to demonstrate my talents for cooking of the waffles for you!" she said, her eyes glimmering with excitement as she clasped her hands together.

"Oh, do say yes! I promise I will not destroy your kitchen, create a fire i cannot put down, nor will I destroy any of the plumbing! I have since learned my lessons from past trials and errors!"

"Oh! Yes! Meeting you there would be wonderful!" Wings of water formed again and she took to the air, flying towards the castle as well.

... What had peach done?
Princess Peach Princess Peach watches as Toph goes back to tunneling underground toward her castle, marvelling at how that can be faster than running on land, but then turns back to Lapis. "Hmm, do you mean you don't have to eat or that you can't? Because even if I didn't need to eat, I'd probably still do it for the taste on occasion. As for you making us some waffles, that does sound good. I'm sure my chef wouldn't mind another set of hands in the kitchen. Just a warning though, it's built for mushpeop... erm, Toads. So, the counters and such might be a little on the low side for you. Anyway, yes, I'll meet you there." Peach offers with a smile.

As Lapis flies away on wings of water, Peach is for a moment, a little envious and wishes she could truly fly, rather than the momentary floating she is able to manage. With that moment passed, she and Toad get back up on the snowmobile, taking the recently unfrozen guards in her lap. She drops the guards off at their homes, giving them the rest of the week off as both a reward for their bravery and a consolation for being nearly frozen to death. Then it's off to the castle.

She rides the snowmobile up to the front gate of the castle before getting off and leaving her guards to park it for her. This way she can focus on her unexpected guests. "Toph, Lapis, please come inside, I can give you a tour later if you like." She says as she moves toward the doorway and Toad opens the door for them all. Finally, she leads the two women to a dining hall with a large table, taking the rather ornate, thronish seat on the left end of the table.
Toph Beifong     It appears that Toph arrives at the castle just right after Peach does, as tunneling through this earth isn't quite as quick as the snowmobile is. Up she goes, and Toph shudders a bit at the cold air, eager to get inside the castle. "Thanks..." At least it might be warm inside, right? It's not like Peach is poor royalty...

Once inside Toph takes off her coat, inspecting the area through her feet as she follows Peach through the castle to the dining hall. "Huh... fancy stuff here," she comments as she sits down in one of the less ornate chairs. This castle seems warmer than what you'd think a stone castle would be like, and well, all the little Toads running about is a bit strange, but eh... different worlds, different sort people. "So... uh, are most of the people here in Mushroom kingdom actually... mushrooms?" Why don't they have an actual mushroom princess? It's a bit weird, but Toph knows better than to ask that last question out loud.
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli hummed as she walked inside, humming lightly. And before long... she was trashing the kitchen. And people were hopefully smart enough to stay out of her way. Things like cleanliness, germs, dropping stuff on the floor did have to be corrected. "No, I don't need to eat! I can, though. I much enjoy the soda pop. The bubbles tickle when they come out and steven often laughs at the really loud ones."

Still, the waffles(... pancakes... honestly...) weren't bad at all! They were a bit watery... and of course, Lapis drank hers once it was all done, sitting by them and happily humming as she placed the plates in front of them.

They didn't look... particularly... appetizing. But she had this big, happy smile on her face, and she had hummed and seemed so happy...
Princess Peach The castle is indeed kept comfortably warm with a modern geo-thermal heating system. As for the kitchen, the Toads workin in there do wisely get out of Lapis' way as she comes in to make her waffles. But after that is done they bring out a tea-pot full of hot water and a wide assortment of tea flavors, with a few notibly from Equestria. Overhearing Lapis' comment about liking pop, she whispers to one of the attendants in the dining room, who soon returns with a Chuckola Cola to set in front of Lapis.

Peach pours herself a cup of tea and lets it steep before eyeing her waffle and lightly dressing it with some mapel syrup before taking a bite, finding it to taste pretty good despite it's sub-par appearance. "Thank you for the waffles Lapis. As for your question Toph, yes, most of the population in the Mushroom Kingdom is Toads, though there are a few otheres peppered in. Why do you ask?"
Toph Beifong     The tea doesn't smell bad... so Toph pours herself a cup of tea as well, sniffing at it before she takes a careful sip. Perhaps it's a good thing that Toph can't see how awful the waffles look, though she does make a slight face when she prods at it with her finger. This... does not feel like a proper waffle. So she'll wait with taking a bite, pretending to be busy with warming her hands on the tea cup.

"Oh, I'm just curious. You're the only human I've met from here I think. Besides Bowser and Sarracenia, that is," she adds quickly. "Haven't talked with you in a while, so what's new here?" Peach is a pleasant person, so small talk isn't too bad to engage in with her. Especially if it can keep her busy from eating watery waffles.
Princess Peach Princess Peach works at finishing her waffle and orders a small glass of milk to wash it down. She turns to Toph and smiles after sipping at the milk a bit, happy to engage in some small talk. "Well, there are a few other notable ones, and certainly some other humans that are not famous, though I do find it a bit odd that Princess Daisy of Sarasaland and I, seem to be among few humans on this world that are of average height for humans among the rest of the multiverse. Compared to the Mario Brothers, I always felt rather tall, though not as tall as Rosalina at least. But now I come to find out that elsewhere, my height is pretty normal."

"Anyway, I guess I'm rambling a bit. Nothing is really new I guess, apart from maybe a bit more snow this winter compared to last year, but that's weather for you. It would be nice if something would happen to liven things up every now and then, though I guess tonight it kinda did." She says with a chuckle.
Toph Beifong     "Yeah, you seem like a normal human being to me," Toph says with a casual shrug. A bit nicer than most humans, but that's just a plus. Man, this tea does feel good for cold hands. Too bad she can't get something to warm her feet on!

"Well, the whole multiversal thing happening nearly two months ago was bad enough, there were natural disasters going on in many places. My birth home was a bit messed up, and Goldie and Pepper were busy trying to fix stuff in the aftermath in the world I live now. Did anything happen here, or...? We didn't all talk in the days after the event, didn't we..." No, there were people she was worried about for a while until the warp gates settled again. It was all really scary in hindsight. As for the snow...?

"I'm not fond of snow myself, it's just cold and wet." Especially when you don't wear shoes.
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli came back with a big mug of maple syrup and waffle mix in a cup, stirred into a shake and absolutely delicious. She drank it happily. "I find the fluids are much easier to purge from my body later! I like the sticky things most, though. The tickle when I alter and remove them," she said with a light, happy giggle.

She eyed the two and... "Oh, so you know each other?I am surprised. Toph, I'd worried you had been crushed in the resulting explosions and destruction of the multiverse. I can't deny, when it all happened I flew off planet and hid in a crater on the moon, waiting for this to pass. I was a little scared they might blame me for it. I was so happy to discover the problems happened everywhere!" she said oh so happily.
Princess Peach Princess Peach smiles as Toph pays her a complement. "Well thank you, but honestly I don't really understand why many people are not very nice. They must just not like people, because I like meeting new people and having more friends, and that tends to work better if you're nice. Unfortunately I've also learned that being too nice sometimes allows others to take advantage of you."

"But there were some issues here now that you mention it about two months back. Some new volcanic eruptions that were a little close for comfort but thankfully weren't in the middle of any heavily populated areas of my kingdom, and then some really bad storms. If it had been snow back then my castle would probably be burried under snow at this point. At first we thought maybe Bowser was somehow behind it all, but then we heard it wasn't just happening here."

Peach then turns back to Lapis and nods. "Yes, I would't say we know each other really well, but we've met before, usually in the middle of some fight against who knows what. Also don't forget your Chuckola Cola. Best drink it before it gets warm."
Toph Beifong     "Some of us prefer something with a bit more... chewing resistance," Toph comments, poking at her waffle again. Ew, it's not even doughy...

Toph nods her head slightly. "Oh, Peach and I have met before, though we haven't talked /that/ much," she responds to Lapis. Only to sigh at her comment. "It's kinda a bad thing it happened in several places, really. People got hurt, stuff was destroyed... but it seems the multiverse is finally getting back on its legs again." The gem really has a bit to learn, huh? They do think differently from humans, that's clear. Perhaps Steven needs to teach them more stuff, though Garnet and Pearl appear to know more about human lives than the other gems do...

The blind teenager finishes her tea, leaning back in her chair. "So... are either of you in a faction?"
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli blinked a few times, then shook her head. "I was a member of the union, but now I don't believe I am in any. I haven't seen Rose in a while, so I haven't put much thought into it." Then... "I... haven't seen her in a while. Or Peridot... or really... any of the gems. What if they were... harmed...? But no. Steven would tell me... would he not? I'm sure I just missed them..."

She was starting to get a dark cloud over her head. "You... don't think they were, do you? I-I mean, t-they are strong. Stronger than me. Right? What if something happened to them? What if they were popped? What if they were hurt?! What if their gems are trapped under the earth right now?!" panic was rising in her voice.
Princess Peach Princess Peach tries her best to calm Lapis. "No need to panic Lapis. There is just as much of a chance that they are all fine. Jumping to conclusions won't help anyone, and if it does turn out that they need help, then I would be happy to offer any assistance I can, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would, even if you're not currently in a faction. I actually haven't joined any yet either, but used to be in the Union."
Toph Beifong     "They're /fine/," Toph assures Lapis, looking calm about it all as she digs her little finger into her ear. "I heard Steven's voice, and Pearl's voice too. They would have let me know if they needed help." That much is clear. So... neither of them are in a faction now. Then again, there's no clearcut where to go now that the war is over. "Eh, figured you wouldn't have joined any yet. There's the Paladins, though I don't see either of you as cops, no offense... and the League seem to be all scientists and brainiacs." Not for her in other words. "At least I managed to help out clear up this misunderstanding."
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli nodded, relaxing quickly. "Oh! Yes! Pearl would be panicking quite a lot if there was anything wrong with rose! she is quite the over dramatic girl, you know. Always fretting and giving in to her anxiety. She's not at all calm like me and Peridot." ....

"A cop? OH! A cop! That is the thing with the squirt gun, right? Humans that drive around in the fancy cars with lights? Yes, I have met many of them! They seem nice, but they yell at me a lot. And often chase me around. They are the strangest creatures. Did you know that some of them have flying machines as well? They are such silly creatures."
Princess Peach Princess Peach nods in agreement with Toph but can't help but chuckle at Lapis. "I do like helping people but I don't think I could see myself being a cop either, but they do usually carry something a little more dangerous than a squirt gun. Are there any other factions besides the Paladins and the League?" Peach asks curiously, then begins sipping at her tea which she nearly forgot about.
Toph Beifong     "No, not squirt guns... and I don't use guns, nor will I," Toph says with a frown. "Nor do I drive cars." Ugh. That won't end well. It's bad enough riding in those things when other people drive them! "And the reason you might get chased a lot is because you don't know much about human law..." See? Here the Paladin officers tell Toph to read more law books, and then there's people and gems out there who need to know more about them. "And well, yeah... of course law enforcement has flying machines too. I mean, us Paladins live in a huge flying ship. Why does that make us silly though?" she asks, arching an eyebrow. "What's normal for you is silly for us, you know."

Other factions beside the two Peach just mentioned? "Hmmm, I have heard some talk about Concorde, but I don't know much about them at all," Toph shrugs.
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli giggled softly. "Well, it's more that they yell and make so much noise from them! I can't imagine why. Though, I do suppose the humans are quite protective of their 'protected air spaces'. I don't see why they worry about them, though. I'd help them protect them if it came to that.' Oh thank goodness Lapis wasn't a paladin. There would be so many international incidents.

"And just human laws in general. On homeworld it was far more simple. You just did as you were told and the higher ranked gems orders were absolute. This whole... freedom to do as you wish thing is just so difficult to understand and know what to do all the time."
Princess Peach "Lots of places are different than what may be normal where you're from, sure is just as true for me. But if you do your best to understand and accomidate for the differences of people in other places, it makes things easier for everyone. I try to learn as much as I can about a place that I visit, it can be fun sometimes to think about how varried the different places in the Multiverse are. But everything goes smoother when you try to be accepting of what makes different places and people unique." Peach says with a smile at Lapis, then turns her gaze toward Toph. "As for factions, I guess I'll have to look into it. Surely somewhere, there is something I can do to help out the Multiverse."
Toph Beifong     A heavy sigh leaves Toph as Lapis explains homeworld. "Most of us aren't happy if we aren't free. Believe me, I lived like that for twelve years. I don't like being told what to do." At least not from most people. Only a few select people get to give her orders. And the list of people who can tell her what to do without being her commanding officers, that list is even shorter.

As for Peach's comment, Toph nods a bit. "Eh, don't join a faction unless you agree with them, I say. You can still do a whole lot of good if you just do what's right, help your own world to be good and all that, you know?" With that Toph shrugs, still ignoring her squishy waffle as she rises to her feet."I... think I should get going now that things are sorted out here."
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli blinked, then nodded. "Oh! I see! Well, if you do not like following orders, I can understand the desire to not. Though it seems silly to me." She then tapped her chin. "But then... humans live such short lives, do they not? So I suppose if I only had to think for myself for a hundred or two years, it couldn't be so difficult," she said with a small smile.

"Oh! You're leaving, Toph?" She got up, walked over and gave her a great big hug. "I will miss you, Toph! It has been wonderful seeing you again! Goodbye!" And then she tried to kiss her on the lips. At least it would be quick! Toph would probably remember this from the time Peridot had brought over Lapis and learned metal bending.

Except, this time Toph was the subject of well... Lapis complete ignorance of most human customs combined with watching nothing but cheesy soap operas.
Princess Peach Princess Peach nods to Toph. "Of course, you're right. I can check them out and if none are right for me, I can still help without being affiliated with a faction, probably will even allow more flexibility in what I do." Then as Toph gets up and Lapis moves to hug her, Peach joins in, gently hugging them both. "I was glad to have you're company today. Hopefully we can do something together again soon."
Toph Beifong     "Thinking for yourself isn't hard at all, really," Toph says moving to put on her wintercoat and scarf again. "And yeah, I should get back to the Ad Coelum and get some studying in before bed, a--"

A yelp leaves Toph when she's hugged, though she bears with it. Yet the moment Lapis leans in close Toph's eyes widen, and she kicks her heel into the ground, causing part of the floor to shoot up as a well between herself and Lapis. "No! Just... no," she says, looking flustered. "You don't kiss people randomly like that!" Sure, the Gems can kiss each other all they want, but no. Toph's rather picky about who she wants to kiss, thankyouverymuch.

Peach too gets a brief hug, though it's clear that Toph isn't the type of person who is fond of hugging. "Take care guys... and stay out of trouble, Lapis."
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli nods and then looks a little shocked. "W-what? did I do something--" Then... "Oh. But in all of the shows Peridot has been having me watch, they have all kinds of kissing things they do. Was it because I didn't say kiss kiss first?" she asked, before looking to Peach.

"How is it your species can live only a few centuries at most, and yet come up with so many different thoughts and customs? It boggles the mind. You creatures truly are wondrous."
Toph Beifong     "There's only one person I kiss, and you're not him!" Toph snorts as she turns to walk out. "Peach, you explain the whole concept of personal space to her, I'm out."
Princess Peach Princess Peach chuckles and waves Toph off before turning to Lapis. "So yeah, um, some people like to have some space and not be so close to other people unless they are really close friends or in love. That goes even moreso for kissing. Most humans only kiss family members and people they have strong affection for."
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli nodded. "Oh. I see. So the problem is Toph doesn't have any affection for me? Do you?" It's a trap, Peach, run away! FLEE! "On Homeworld there's no such thing as kissing! But on these planets they put such a large emphasis on it. It's so strange. I can't imagine how you all function always trying to put body parts to other body parts. I still need to discover what the significance of the... mother in law is, as well. You silly humans."
Princess Peach "Well, I don't want to speak for Toph, but I wouldn't say that I have no affection for you, just not an 'I love you' level of affection. Also, there are exceptions as there are with most things, but most people, outside of family, only kiss others of the opposite gender. It's all just a matter of different customs for different people." Peach tries to explain, pausing to finish off the rest of her tea. "As for mother in law, it's simply the mother of the person someone is marred to. When two people get married, their families are then connected with each other by the laws of marrage."
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli nodded. "Truly? But that sounds like a good thing. Then why do they always speak of the dreaded mother in law as if she is some great monster that must be slain in battle?" she asked, cocking her head to the side. Sit coms are not the best way to teach a gem about the world.

Her eyes then lit up. "You and I must watch the little buttler! As you, yourself, have the little butlers, right?" she asked with a big grin, motioning to a nearby toad. Oy. How rude.
Princess Peach Princess Peach laughs and shakes her head at Lapis. "I think you've been watching way too much TV and taking it far too literally. Real life isn't the same and while I'm sure some mother in laws are terrible people, I'm sure there are also plenty of really nice ones too. As for the little buttler, I don't think I know that one..." Thankfully the toad in question doesn't seem to take offense, or at least, hides it well.
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli nodded, cocking her head to the side. "Oh. I see. Well, I still think you're great. Not at all like am other in law!" she said happily, grinning to the poor girl. She then drank down her soda and... belched. Like, wow. Glass rattled. She then grinned to her. "Okay, now let's go! Show me your castle, okay? This will be such fun!"
