Sokka Sokka was laying in bed, in so much paaaaain. Okay, he actually wasn't in THAT much pain. He had a mild fracture, it'd be good in a few days(due to super advanced healing stuff) and then he'd be good to go. Still, the punch had hurt a lot.

He was laying in bed, studying, as he always did. Because he was Sokka. He was expecting Toph to arrive any minute because now he was cleared for guests. Woot
Toph Beifong     Even if Toph hadn't suffered any physical injuries from the mission herself, she had still been a bit spooked about it all. Because how often do you get people who get into your head in a literal sense? Luckily some research into the subject had provided some useful information that helped put her mind at ease. But still, she can't help but feel incredibly annoyed at what she deems a breach of privacy, and that the guy hadn't been apologetic in the least on the radio afterwards. Dunderhead.

With the paperwork for the mission done with, it's time to head to medical and follow up on some things. The door to Sokka's room swings open, and as he expected Sokka will get to see the earthbender arrive; with a dinner tray in her hands. "You better be awake there, Snoozles," she comments as she walks over to the bed, then reaches out for the nightstand to pull it over so she can place the tray on there. "How's your arm?"
Sokka Sokka glanced over and then chuckled. "My arm? Well, considering nothing happened to it, it's pretty good," he teased, flashing his smile. "Of course I'm fine. I got punched in the stomach, though. That hurt a lot. How uhhh.... are you doing?"

He then looked her up and down. She didn't look pissed or ready to kill him. That made him smile. He must of done what she said. Whew. "So, deleted that e-mail, right? It was a mis send. Just some uhhh, boring paperwork. For school." Oh my gosh he was lying now.
Toph Beifong     With the tray set down on the nightstand, Toph moves to sit on the edge of the bed. "Then where did you get hit? The nurse said you had broken something?" Toph inquires, a look of concern on her face. When he asks her about her state after the fight, she shrugs. "I'm okay. A bit spooked by the guy I was fighting, I don't want people in my head ever again," she grumbles a bit sourly.

Her mood doesn't turn brighter when he asks about the e-mail however, and the blind girl narrows her eyes a bit where she sits. "Paperwork my ass," she snorts, then reaches out to punch him in the arm! Hey, he just said it wasn't broken, so it's okay to punch it. "Seriously, what was the deal with that? Sending me a goodbye letter?" Her voice is annoyed, though she also seems to swallow hard where she sits. "It's not like we let that creepy Chaos Fanboy get away with it, right?"
Sokka Sokka nodded. "I can understand that. I'd have probably stabbed him if he tried something like that on me. I'm surprised you didn't squash him. He deserved it. A minor fracture ribs. Metal fist punching hurts," he said with a chuckle.

He cringed and took a deep breath. "Shit. I asked you to delete it," he mumbled, poking his fingers together. "I didn't think I was, okay? I knew I only had a few seconds, I could barely move and... well, the guys I was stuck there with? Didn't look the friendliest sort. Even if I got out.... there was no telling I'd be okay. I didn't... want the last thing you ever heard from me to just be good bye, you know?" he mumbled, shifting uncomfortably. "... And... I knew it might... happen eventually. Anyway. I mean... I just... ugh."

He put a hand to his forehead. "I'm not like everyone else in the paladins, Toph. I'm not like half the people we've even met. I don't have any special powers or awesome abilities to keep me safe. I'm possibly the ONLY normal one in the whole faction who does field work. Chances are I'm going to die and it's not going to be pretty. And I don't want my body being the last thing you see from me"
Toph Beifong     "I was a bit occupied with helping you out... I can give that sneaky asshole a punch later," Toph points out. Because Sokka's safety was way more important at the moment. So... Sokka's got a fractured rib. Okay, that can hurt bad enough and affect breathing. It's not like she hasn't had fractured ribs before and know what a pain it can be.

Yes, he had asked her to delete it. But she hadn't, because whatever it was, it had to be important since he actually took the time to send it /during battle/. Even as Sokka explains his reasoning the blind teenager sits quietly on the edge of the bed, still a frown on his face as she obviously listens. "You don't need to do that. Because nobody will let things get to that, not here." Her hands grip tighter onto the edge of the bed, and her head lowers slightly. "I've been in serious danger before too on missions, but... we get out of many difficult situations. If you go in with a mindset thinking you're going to die, then how do you expect to get out it alive?" It's something Toph has talked a lot about to her students. Like when she tried to get Aang out of his airbender mindset, about how she pushed her students to learn, to be in the right mindset to accomplish something. "Stadler doesn't have special powers or awesome abilities either, does he? We have many field operatives who are like you, I thought we were over this crud!" Is... Toph getting tense? It looks like it, as she swallows hard. "I've... had people I care about die in the field before, and... people with powers and abilities die too, you know. Not just the 'normal' ones, as you call them..." she mutters.

Without warning Toph picks up the fork from the tray and hands it to him. "... I think they made meatloaf today. Smells like it."
Sokka Sokka nodded, chuckling. "I do appreciate it, don't get me wrong. I'm... still not sure what that girl who grabbed me, was. But hey. It hurt a lot when she picked me up. But I wasn't left there. So that's good."

He then sighed. "Toph... I know. Anyone could die at a moments notice." Except her. Never her. She was too awesome to die. "I'm just saying... if it happens to me, there's just a higher chance of it. You know? And I don't expect to die. But I know it CAN happen. Heck, it probably will. This is hardly a safe job, for any of us." Those who aren't strong, doubly so.

"... If I die, I don't want things being unsaid. Not to you, or my sister, my parents... Any of them. So I figure it's best to just... say them before hand. You know?" he couldn't even look at her.
Toph Beifong     "She's a ship girl," Toph says with a sigh. "Read up on the Fleet Girls if you're curious, I don't really understand it all myself." This is a topic she's not too happy about considering what happened two years ago, and Toph looks uncomfortable, that should be easy for Sokka to see. "I know we could die any day, but... I won't let you die, okay? Now eat, okay?" Please. So they can talk about something else. "You need food for the medicine and healing to work. So you can leave medical." It's boring without him, not to mention a bit lonely now that they've gotten used to spending most of their time together.

"So, I've asked dad for permission to have a big birthday party on the beach," she says, changing the subject. Just talking about potentially dying doesn't sit well with her, especially if it's Sokka. "So I was wondering if you wanted to help me plan some activities, I kinda like having stuff happen on my birthdays, you know? Dad has karaoke contests and all, but..."
Sokka Sokka sighed and then reached out, gripping her chin and pulling her in for a kiss. "Of course," he whispered. He wanted to say 'I'll protect you' or something. But... he knew what she meant. He knew EXACTLY how she felt. A certain girl flashed into his mind. One he'd failed to protect all those long, long years ago. So he knew the best way to protect her, was to let her think she was protecting him.

"And I'm eating plenty." He sighed. "And yes I know you get my desserts." He totally pouted.

"Oh? Sweeeet. I actually wanted to talk to you about that. You okay if I invite a few people? Two in particular?" he chuckled nervously. "You're, err, not fond of one of them. But I think it'd really help you two connect and do her a world of good."
Toph Beifong     There is no protest when Sokka moves his hand to her chin and pulls her in for a kiss, and Toph sighs softly before she leans in. It's easy to read Sokka's gestures, and it's nice with comfort like that after discussing an unpleasant topic. Maybe he would send her another mail like that in the future... but at least now she would be more prepared for it. Not to mention know that she didn't have to open it.

Yes, let's talk about something more pleasant. Like how his desserts for the next month are now her. Seriously, him being oblivious to certain things wasn't so bad now that she could use it to her advantage. "You know, I'm going to talk to dad... get them to have super good desserts the next month," she teases him, looking rather pleased with herself. Yup, a month of double desserts doesn't sound bad at all! And about a month to plan her birthday party too to make sure it's a fun one. When Sokka reveals that he actually has some ideas for the guest list though, Toph arches an eyebrow where she sits, unable to not look a bit suspicious. "... just who are you planning on inviting, exactly?"
Sokka Sokka smiled and then... she said that. And a look of horror. "w-what? Oh, come on, Toph! That's just being unnecessarily cruel! Isn't it bad enough I lost, you don't have to be mean about it..." he mumbled, grouchily. He totally sulked and wasn't kissing her. Awwww, she hit a nerve.

He then blinked. "Luna and... well..." He sighed. "Jinx. Okay, I know. You don't like her, I get it. But honestly, she's really lonely. You can tell just looking at her and I'm pretty sure if you give her a chance, she'd love to be your friend. I mean, you used to have... wlel, you sometimes do have a bit of a bad girl streak to you. So it's not like you two have nothing in common."
Toph Beifong     It's easy enough to hear the horror in Sokka's voice, and Toph can't help but grin. "Maybe... chocolate fondants, mango pudding, some fancy stuff we buy from the snooty restaurant down the road in Malibu..." she muses for herself, all while she points to Sokka's dinner. "Now eat up, be a big boy."

Okay, Luna she can understand that Sokka wants to invite. The unicorn seems rather sweet on him, which Toph of all people can understand. The second invitee though makes Toph blink, even as she listens to Sokka begin rambling about /why/ she should invite her. Not a word is said as he speaks, and the blind earthbender sits still. When he's done talking however, she leans in close. "Sokka..." Pause. "I already invited her."
Sokka Sokka grumbled darkly and nibbled his food, glowering at her. "You're evil, Toph. I thought girl friends were supposed to be nice to their boy friends." He then gave a sigh. "Oh well, I guess I should have seen this coming. You wouldn't be you if you weren't a little evil." He chewed on a sausage.

He blinked and stared. "Wait, really? Okay then. I guess just Luna. I think she's pretty lonely too." Then paused and rubbed his chin. "Actually... do you think Jinx likes girls? Cause I'm pretty sure Luna does and..." Oh by the moon NO!
Toph Beifong     "I /am/ nice to you though, I brought you dinner. And I helped you out when that hot head was threatening you, didn't I?" Toph points out, reaching out to ruffle his wolf tail. "It's not my fault you are willing to bet away your desserts for a whole month."

"Luna is welcome to my birthday party too. Heck, I'll let everybody I don't want to fling a rock at come. The beach is large, we're having catering so there will be enough food for all, and hey, more presents for me!" Hey, she can be greedy now and then, can't she? "So I was thinking of having some contests on my birthday, just to add more incentive for people to actually have fun, you know? Like, maybe three contests we can do on the beach. You think people would love volley ball? Or water gun fights?" she asks him, looking a bit curious.

His own question about Jinx and Luna though, that makes Toph give him a deadpan look. "Sokka... I'm absolutely sure they both like guys." They both did show interest in Sokka, after all. It's a good thing Jinx swore she wouldn't try to steal Sokka away. As if she would let her!
Sokka Sokka sighed, then nodded. "you're right. And I'm a man. I'll take my punishment firmly." Pause. "I still don't get how she was flirting with me, though. She must have been really subtle. I don't know how you were picking up on it."

Then he pailed. "W-wait. Is the bet carrying over to your birthday? That's not fairrrr!" he whined. He then snickered. "I still need to decide what to get you for your birthday. It needs to be as special as you." He nodded and... then grinned. "Okay, Toph. Tell you what. You choose three games... and I'll choose three games. And I'll surprise you. Okay?"

He then frowned. "Are you sure? I'm pretty sure Luna was eying this one girl when we were shopping. Eh. If you're sure." He was as clueless as always.
Toph Beifong     Unable to hold back a heavy sigh, Toph cants her head where she sits. "Sokka. She was all over you at the beach. Seriously, do I need to make you cuecards or something?" It might make things easier. "I mean, you missed all the clues I gave you too."

Perhaps she could be really evil. It is kinda tempting, but then he whines, causing Toph to roll her eyes. "Fiiiine. You can have dessert starting on my birthday, you big cry baby," she says, then reaches out to take Sokka's dessert from the tray since she guesses he's nearly done with eating his dinner. "And don't worry about getting me stuff for my birthday," she asides, opening the dessert. Hmmm, seems that it's some sort of pudding today. That's not too bad! Picking up the spoon she pokes a bit at it, then takes a smell. Yup, definitively pudding. "Okay, that sounds good. If you could help run most of the contests that would help, then I can focus on other stuff for the party. I asked dad if he could make ribs, so we're getting some extra tasty food along with the catering. Nobody prepares spare ribs like dad does," she grins before taking her first spoonful of dessert. Mmmm.

There is a look of curiousity on Toph's face though as Sokka continues talking. "You went shopping with Luna? And I dunno, but she might have had other reasons for eyeing her, you know..."
Sokka Sokka blinked. "Wait, she was? I barley noticed. Are you sure you're not... right, my desserts. I'll trust your judgment on it."

"Yes!" And then she got a kiss, then blinked. "Awwwww..." He was hoping she wouldn't notice. Alas. "Bye bye pudding cup..." he said sadly. Had to wait until he was almost done so he had to watch, eh? Truly she WAS evil.

He then shrugged. "You sure? Eh, I guess. She probably wasn't..." Then paled, before shaking his head. "At least I know SHE doesn't have feelings for me. She promised me she wouldn't fall in love no matter what."
Toph Beifong     "I might be blind, but I notice more things than you do, remember?" she points out, only to turn her head in time for him to kiss her. Okay, he's very kissy today, but then again, that's hardly something new, now is it? "This just shows that you should trust my judgement, Sokka. Otherwise you're going to make lots of stupid bets that will come back and bite you in the ass," she points out, leaning in to kiss him on the cheek. Then she turns her attention back to the pudding, letting her legs dangle where she sits.

"Eh, I'd say Luna does like you more than you think. And hey, sometimes you fall in love with people you didn't expect to. Like I did, when I first met you I thought you were a total dork." Okay, he's still a dork, but... a lovable one.
Sokka Sokka nodded and then closed his eyes, sighing a bit. "Yeah. Got it. No more bets with you, you are just too smart for me," he said with a chuckle. "But hey..." He stroked her cheek. "I know how to read you, at least. Like, right now... you're thinking, mmmmmm... I should give my hurt boy friend a bite. Right?"

Then... "Okay, no. No no no. I draw the line at Luna. No moon princess girls. I am NOT having another Yue!" he snapped... He actually sounded angry? About that? And his heart rate had gotten faster.
Toph Beifong     "You're the smart one when it comes to plans, I'm the smart one when it comes to bets," Toph corrects him, then half closes her eyes as she tilts her head into his hand. And she can't help but chuckle a bit when he tries to flatter himself into getting a piece of dessert. "Actually, I'm not thinking that, but good try," she says, turning her head to kiss at his hand. "I mean, if I let you have some of /my/ dessert then what good is that bet? You wouldn't have learned anything, right?" she points out before putting another spoonful of pudding into her mouth.

Then she goes silent as he talks about Luna. It really must have hurt... not that Toph was a part of the group at that moment, but she has been told about Yue and what happened at the battle of the North Pole. And about just how Sokka felt about the princess. "Then... you should be honest with her, you know?" Toph says. "It would be the most fair to her as well." Swallowing the pudding in her mouth, Toph leans close and presses her lips softly against his.
Sokka Sokka sighed, then grinned wickedly. "Well, the bet was only for our desserts. I could always ask Jinx for some of hers," he joked. "Please just punch the arm, not the chest area!" he said quickly and a tiny bit nervously.

He blinked, then kissed her and sighed, wrapping his arms around her. "What? I have been nothing but honest with her. I told her we can never fall in love, made her promise, told her I'm dating you and..." He sighed. "Okay, seriously, is EVERY woman in love with me? I mean, I spent months not even getting a call back! Now that we're dating apparently half the multiverse finds me irresistable?!"
Toph Beifong     "You know I would only confiscate those anyway," Toph jokes back. "And fine, I won't bother your chest, you big cry baby," she adds. As he kisses her and wraps his arms around her, Toph is a bit hesitant at first as she leans into him, but she does shift, finding a spot on the side of the bed against the ribs he hasn't fractured, then gets comfy as she snuggles up against him. Because snuggling and desserts are awesome.

"I dunno, but at least you're not hiding the fact that we're dating, so that ought to give them a clue. If they try anything stupid and don't listen to you then I'll just kick their asses," she says with a shrug, not looking particularly bothered by it.
Sokka Sokka snickered softly, leaning in and rubbing his nose against hers. "Exactly. I have the best girl friend in the whole--" Then froze. His heart got faster. "Oh no. Wait. Toph. What if AZULA was crushing on me? I... I think I'm going to be sick. I think I almost threw up a bit now." He went limp. "I can't go on, Toph. Ican't go on knowing that's a possibility. It'd be better to end it all now. Woe. Woe is me."

Pause. "If only I, say, had some dessert to light the end of this bleak, empty hallway of despair. Woe. Woe unto me."
Toph Beifong     Feeling Sokka move next to her, Toph runs her head a bit, finding him pressing his nose against hers, and she grins a bit. "Of course I'm the best." Why did he freeze up though? Toph looks concerned for a moment, only for her expression to turn neutral when Sokka voices his fears out loud. "... Sokka, I doubt Azula crushes on anybody. So don't worry, no lightning shooting psycho is coming after you, at least not unless she wants to try and kill you." Which is probably less painful.

And here he goes being, all dramatic again, clearly acting though. Toph rolls her eyes a bit as she takes another spoonful of pudding, even as Sokka desperately tries to get some dessert. "You're a real number, you know that...?" she sighs, then scoops out the last spoonful... and shoves it in her mouth. The empty cup is set aside, and she tilts her head upwards to kiss Sokka. With the dessert still in her mouth.
Sokka Sokka chuckled. "Oh, good. Honestly, I'd be a lot happier with her trying to kill me than trying to date me. I mean, I'm already dating one super powerful girl. And at least I think you're adorable," he teased, reaching out to gently stroke her ear lobe.

"And can you blame me for trying? I mean, sometimes I think you'd make the best dessert and--" Then blinked. And went scarlet. "R-right. Just... just forget I said that, okay? Antlers is going to kill me... again."

And then, the kiss. He kiss her back and then, oh? An open invitation? His tongue started to dip in... but then stopped. He tasted the pudding... but was good and didn't go for it. He lost a bet, he'd suffer through it.
Toph Beifong     No, she can't really blame Sokka for trying. He loves food, especially meat and dessert, not so strange for a guy his age. And she would comment on the whole Stadler thing, but that's kinda hard with pudding in your mouth.

But it's not like the pudding stays there long as Toph deepens the kiss for a moment, and Sokka will find his mouth full as Toph pulls away, blushing slightly as she sits up. "Okay, I should get headed to training," she announces and begins clearing up Sokka's empty food tray. "You keep on reading through the book so we can compare notes later, and I'll stop by again later, okay?"
Sokka Sokka blinked a few times. His cheeks burning. Oh gosh. It was the cake all over again. He swallowed a bit. "Y-yeah." Oh gosh, HE was flustered! "I will. And, hey. No need to be a stranger. You can come here and hang out with me whenever you want. And you can stay overnight if you like, too. I mean, the bed is pretty big." He said sheepishly. "And... it sucks not having you next to me, you know?"
Toph Beifong     "You'd think the nurses would let me stay overnight now?" Toph asks, looking like she doesn't exactly believe that. Maybe though... heck, if they ask nicely, then that might work. "I... guess I could go pick up some clothes and such for you, and then pick up PJs and clothes for me too..." And heck, he's right. It is comfier and easier to sleep when you're curled up next to somebody. "You sure your ribs can handle my tossing and turning though?" she asks, pointing towards his chest. "I mean, I don't want to wake up to you screaming and pushing me out of bed."
Sokka Sokka nodded. "If they don't, I'll discharge early," he said with a shrug. "You're like, my sleep aid. Without you, I just can't sleep right," he mumbled, sitting up a bit. "Besides, you don't toss around that much when we sleep together. And you're usually pretty soft and squishy."
Toph Beifong     Sleep aid is a rather fitting description, isn't it? The blind girl smiles slightly as she gets to her feet. "I sleep better when I sleep next to you too," she admits. It's been a while since she's had /that/ nightmare now too. At being told she's soft and squishy however the blind teenager can't help but snort. "I'm not squishy, I'm tough, remember?" Ignore her blushing, please. It's not that bad when Sokka calls her soft though, just as long as other people don't. "And you might want to watch that phrasing there in case people get the wrong idea," she adds before she leans over and punches Sokka in the arm. "I'll be back later, okay? Take care, Meat Head."
