Laer     The usual briefing has already happened this time! The portal remains the same, a gravesite in a forgotten realm, but the travel is quite a bit further through the City of Doors to the destination. This time, Laer has sent the party directly to prison.

The prison is quite the imposing place, in fact, but it does allow for visitors. They have to see the sentences being carried out, after all. Reaching up into what passes for a sky in Sigil, the place is grim stone and fierce spikes, with people passing by in a hurry, not quite looking at the building.

Laer had given four specific requests, in order:

Find my flute.
Find where 'K.T.' is if you can.
Don't get arrested.
Try not to die, either.

She hadn't been very specific about who K.T. was, but had made it clear that she's been part of the faction running the prison, the Mercykillers, and that asking around there was a good place to start.
Sanary Rondel A saner person would have figured enough was enough, the money paid thus far has been good, and went on her merry way. Alas, being able to maintain a comfortable lifestyle and helping an old friend is too much for the one-eyed healer to simply refuse, and Sanary's arrival at the prison probably isn't too surprising to anyone.

Wandering around the prison, she's simply strolling about while pushing a nondescript crate on a handtruck in front of her while donning the jumpsuit and cap of a humble delivery person. What's she delivering? Who knows. It's definitely not hiding weapons or anything while she scopes the place out or anything.
Rabby There are times where you have to do things that might seem bizarre or unusual, but sometimes it's necessary to get the job done. Even if that means going into a prison to find something and get it out. Of course, Rabby isn't just about to walk in and say what she wants to do there. Instead, she's there to... throw mud pies at the prisoners?

Apparently, that's a pastime here, and Rabby has decided to take it upon herself to add a little insult to injury for those who are being incarcerated here. An evil smirk appears on Rabby's face as she's admitted. "Too bad I couldn't do this to Lufy during those times she went over my head!" She whispers to herself. But is she really here to be humiliating prisoners? Or is she doing something else?
August Kohler August is here, armed as usual and in yet another hoodie (he probably buys them in bulk). While the others are scoping it out in their own way, he's looking for the closest thing to a helpdesk the prison has, and is speaking firmly, but politely. "I'm looking for someone, and was told that this was the best place to check. A 'K.T.'. Do you know where I could find them?"
Captain Flint Flint comes through in the portal the same as before, although this time he's come with blonde-haired bo'sun Billy Bones and Hal Gates, the burly, mustachioed quartermaster. Things are going well--at least, by Flint's reckoning. The money's good, the work isn't too hard. Just a little weird.

Hal and Billy look confused. "Look, I'm not complaining about the pay, it's just...: Hal Gates pulls frustratedly at his mustache. He receives an expectanct look from Flint. "Jesus, never mind," says the quartermaster with a dismissive wave of the hand.

Flint's eyes flash with recognition. "I understand--Leif Eriksson must have felt the same way when he first discovered the New World."

Gates blinks. "I thought that was Columbus..."

"There's a library on the ship. Read a book sometime."

They arrive at the prison in short order, and quickly get to work. Billy and Gates essentially case the prison, covertly moving from place to place, pretending to idle but in truth looking for potential weak points or points of escape should things go south.

Flint, meanwhile, follows behind August, keeping lookout for trouble.
Laer     Getting into prison is quite easy, of course. There's a courtyard where prisoners are being kept for public humiliation; Rabby can easily get there, and from there find people to talk to, or simply amuse herself by being part of the mob throwing both mud and insults.

Sanary will eventually be stopped by a man in quite fearsome looking armor, the sort with a lot of black and red and spikes in the design. "Wait. What are you here for? What are you delivering?" The questions come in a deep, deep voice, suspicion leaking off his every pore.

August will get slightly less suspicion. "..Kay Tee? Is that a prisoner? We're guards, not tour guides." Less suspicion, but not more help, it seems.

Flint and August might notice there's some hesitation, though, in that reply. As though the guard is unsure about it.
August Kohler "K.T. I assume there's initials. I know you know who I'm talking about, she's one of you Mercykillers." The redheaded teen says it bluntly, but sighs, looking at the help with weary, almost sympathetic eyes. "I'm looking for something, and I've been told that she's the one person who can help me find it. I just need to talk to her." August glances at Flint, trying to look at him like he's looking at a confidante or person he can trust, though in reality he's looking for help 'corroborating' his story.
Captain Flint "Look," says Flint, instead giving the /guard/ a sympathetic look. "He's just a street rat. I kind of look out for him--the name's Flint," he says, putting a lower, more gruff tone to his voice. "His sister's missing and he's convinced himself this 'K.T.' woman can help find her. I'm sorry about this--I tried to talk him out of it, but he insisted on coming here. Can you just take us to her, let him tell his sob story, and, whoever this person is, she can make the decision to throw us out herself?"
Sanary Rondel Sanary brings the handtruck to a stop when she's approached by the probably-a-guard, letting out a light half-whistling half-blowing noise at his appearance. "Whoa... Nice armor. Ah, I got a package for a... Kay Tee? Some kinda..." She's trying not to sound too interested in the package in favor of ogling the guard's armor, although it might also be rather apparent that she's faking that as well. Hamming it up on stage is one thing, but trying to pull off a proper disguise is something else, and she doesn't have that sort of training at all!

At least she's not completely faking her gawking. The armor's so spiky and appealing! She stares at it for a while longer before peering back up at the man, adjusting her eyepatch briefly after a moment. "... Say, what's it take to get some armor like that?"

It's better than answering his question about having her gunaxe inside, at least!
Rabby Meanwhile, Rabby still has that evil look on her face as she wanders around the prison. She stops to make conversation with a few people here and there, making comments about tossing mudpies at prisoners and how fun it seems. Of course, it doesn't sound like something Rabby would do, but sometimes everyone has to let their dark side be seen!
Laer     Sanary will get a good look at the guard's armor, though he'll not stop the suspicion. "..K.T.? A delivery.. when was this order placed?" He'll start to ask, before getting charmed a little bit out of it. "Oh, this armor? You must be new to Sigil." He'll state, dismissively though not unkindly. "This is the armor of those who defend this city from the mewling hordes of criminals who would otherwise overrun it. Those who make certain to apply the proper punishment, to lead to perfection. If you want it, you would need to learn to value justice above all else. But you look a likely sort; if you've true interest, I can make introductions. The training is fierce, but most survive it."

Flint and August's tag team act will be a little more successful. Or less. It's difficult to be certain, but the guard's hand is now on his sword, which is a type of progress. "...Where did you hear about her, then? Just how long has this supposed sister of yours been missing, cur?" That seems to be a bit of skeptism thrown August's way by the guard.

Rabby will manage to find a way deeper into the prison she can try to slip through, or she can hang with the crowd...
Captain Flint Flint steps in front of August, clasping his hands behind his back. He then makes a gesture only August can see--opening his hands and waving all ten of his fingers. "Too long," says the captain. "She's probably dead, he says coldly. "He just won't accept it." Again, Flint opens his hands, hoping August will interrupt soon.
August Kohler "...She's still alive, I know it. I just...need to talk to K.T." August frowns at Flint sharply, though Flint's a sharp enough man to tell it's in-character. "I've been asking everyone, and I...found a lead. I don't know if I should be telling you this, you're obviously not K.T., but apparently this monster of a woman named Laer was involved, played my sister like a pied piper. Rumors say K.T. knows Laer...so I was hoping she could tell me something, anything so that I could find out what happened." They're called the Mercykiller...but August is still trying to play to feelings. "Please?"
Rabby Rabby does have the ability to go further into the prison as she gets deeper in, and she does see her opportunities. But she realizes she might get caught if she tries going in too fast. Instead, she simply decides to take a little part in the fun of throwing mud at prisoners. "You wanna act dirty, you get dirty!" She says as she finds a prisoner looking like they need a mud pie!

After cupping a mud pie in her hands, Rabby tosses the mud at the prisoner. "Hope you like it! It's made specially for you!" She laughs evilly.
Sanary Rondel "When? Uhh..." In a rare moment of foresight, Sanary actually planned for this contingency! She takes a notepad out that's actually rather fresh, flipping it to the first page and poking at chickenscrawl on it. "Looks like... Two days ago? Anyway."

On to more important things that won't incriminate her! "Justice, huh? Sounds like a good job... Always wanted to make something of myself. Do... Y'know. Good stuff." There's actually a bit of sincerity coming through there, although the fact that she's really just doing this for a friend and a large sum of money can be left out in favor of keeping the act going. Her magitech eye lights up (mostly figuratively) at the mention of getting an introduction, and the healer strokes her chin lightly.

"Really now? That'd be great! Hey, you mind if I just drop this off with Kay Dee quick so we can do that?"
Laer     Sanary's going to lose that advantage she'd had, though, as the guard catches her in something. "...That's impossible. Kippa hasn't been here in over eight months. Where did the order come from?" He's still not going for a weapon or anything, at least!

Which means Sanary's doing better than August and Flint. At the mention of Laer's name, the guard's eyes will go wide for a moment, and then he's advancing on August and trying to grab the youth by the collar and slam him against the nearest wall. "You will tell me everything you know about that elf bitch and her whereabouts. And you will do it right now." He'll declare, rage clear in his voice, whether or not he's able to physically intimidate August. There's a look towards Flint, too, to include him in this.

Rabby will get a response from the prisoner. "Why can't you just leave us alone? We did nothing to deserve this! We have to eat, too!"
Captain Flint The click is subtle, but it's there. A challenge. The moment the guard looks away from Flint, his pistol is drawn and pointed at his helmeted head. "I urge you to reconsider your actions," says Flint. "Unless you want to see if Justice can save you from the grave. If you scream, if you sob, if you make any kind of alarm, I will blow your brains out the other side of that bucket. If you want to escape this alive, you can tell /me/ what /I/ want to know about this woman. Have we an accord?"
Sanary Rondel Crap. She should have gone longer! Sanary bites her lip while trying to figure out a plausible excuse, then puts on a confused face herself. "So... It wasn't from here? Manager at the warehouse just gave me the delivery order."

Yes, the mutual confusion angle is probably her best bet for now. If she can just feign it well enough, maybe it can end up somewhere that isn't just her grasping at straws to cover her ass. She shrugs lightly and rubs her neck while nudging the crate with her other hand, slowly peering over at the commotion coming over on August's and Flint's side. "... Eh? Hell's going on over there?" Her grip on the crate's edge tightens subtly, and...

She waits. She's not going to start swinging that thing around just yet, but she's waiting for an opening first.
August Kohler As soon as the guard shows that he's a threat, grabs August, and moves to slam him against the wall, August's teeth bite down on his lip and his eyes beacon for the nearest reflective thing: the guard's helmet. With a powerful, single phrase, blue psionic energy begins circling around the boy, as he shouts. "PERSONA!"

And then, a large robot soldier, with a gun for a leg, is pushing forward, moving to knock the guard off of August. It's utterly silent, making no noise no matter how many gears move, and it stares the Mercykiller straight in the face as August straightens himself up. "Physical violence, really? Aren't you guys the cops around here? I'm not looking for a fight here. I'm not looking to start something. I just want to talk to K.T. Tell us what you know."
Rabby Upon throwing the mudpie at the prisoner and getting a response, Rabby leans in to whisper something to the prisoner. "Listen, I'm not doing this on purpose. I have my own ulterior motive. This is only to help me blend in. I'm sorry I have to do this to you, but it's not intentional."

With that, Rabby attempts to slip away without being noticed by anyone else. She's got a job to do and she's hoping to finish it quickly.
Laer     The guard Sanary's talking to will eye her in return, with the mutual confusion covering for quite a lot. Still there will be an opening soon enough; the distraction is quite the issue. On the other hand, it's going to be an issue all around.

The guard will get knocked away, and threatened at gunpoint. This is less effective by just threatening than one might think; the Mercykillers are very, very devoted to their cause. "You'll not find anything about her mission here, fool." The guard will state. "No member of the Mercykillers would give in to such threats!" He's heavy, but slow; the two will have time to deal with him as he draws his sword if they want. Of course, they'll have done so to a guard in the midst of the prison...

The distraction will make it quite a bit easier for Rabby's infiltration. The only problem is... knowing where to go. The layout's quite confusing, and she'll need to look for something particular...
Captain Flint "Stop!" Flint's voice cuts through the air with an authoritative bark only a ship's captain can muster. "This charade is getting us nowhere. We've come to deliver a message to K.P., but that message will clearly be forgotten by the time it reaches her, huddled away in the shadows like a coward. If she were worth your loyalty, she would come out and hear it herself. Or are you a servant of Justice only when you can enforce it at the end of a sword?"
August Kohler As the guard draws his sword, the Tin Soldier starts moving its gun upwards, slowly. It only stops when Flint barks, as August angles himself behind it, using his Persona as a shield. He allows Flint to do the talking, using his Persona as a physical buffer because he's pretty well aware they're criminals now.
Rabby With things getting crazy, Rabby decides that she should move in further... but then she realizes that she doesn't know where the hell she's supposed to go! So she attempts to locate one of her comrades. The problem is that within the chaos, it's hard to spot anyone she might recognize here. All she can do is hope that she spots someone else here who knows what's going on.
Sanary Rondel Well, someone has to help August and Flint out. Elsewhere, maybe Sanary could have been swayed by a virtuous cause. Here, though? There's not much virtue to be found, and Sanary got into this whole mess for money in the first place.

Might as well see how messy it can get. Still, if all the attention is on August and Flint, just maybe she can make some progress. Instead of just beaning him with the crate, she slowly nudges the handtruck forward before trying to start towards the interior of the prison once that guard seems sufficiently distracted. Then again...

It's not like Sanary really has a solid plan on what to do once she /is/ inside. Plus, getting caught now would just close this route to her later. "Ergh... You know what? I'll catch up with you later, sir! Don't wanna get in the way of... All o' this or nothin'!" She calls out, then just starts booking it with her crate and handtruck to try and find her way out of the prison's outer grounds AWAY from the impending mess.
Laer     Flint will get a growl in response. "What part of she's not here do you not understand? She's been on a mission for eight months on one of the the primer planes, Whiteeagle or something, trying to track down the very woman you mentioned. Laer. The most wanted woman of the city. And if she finds your sister helping her, she'll put an end to her, too."

Rabby will probably be aware that people are trying to make an exit now. Guards are starting to head en masse towards where Flint and August are...

Sanary, on the other hand can easily slip away in all the distraction, something that might be well advised for the others at this point - they've gotten at least the information that Laer had wanted, after all, and if K.T. isn't here the flute likely isn't either!
Captain Flint Flint huffs indignantly, to continue the /other/ con. "Thank you," he says. "You'd think I was pulling your teeth to get the answer." He gently releases the hammer on the flintlock, putting it away. "August, let's go find your sister and stop her before she does something stupid." With that, he very /briskly/ walks away, signaling Gates and Billy over the radio.

"It's time to leave," he informs them over the radio. They regroup with Flint and flank him on either side. The captain doesn't bother looking over his shoulder to see if August is coming. Hopefully, he takes the cue.
August Kohler "Finally. Took youi long enough." August btes his lip tighter as the man speaks, nodding to Flint as the Tin Soldier follows the boy along, the Persona User trying to keep up with the pirate. Once they're away enough from any Mercykillers, the Persona is desummoned. "Jesus christ. This city's insane."
Rabby Unfortunately, with things getting crazy, sometimes the best thing to do is retreat. And Rabby's doing just that. She doesn't know what else to do really, so she just tries to make for the nearest exit, although finding her way out through all the chaos isn't easy. "I didn't even bring my weapon with me!" She mutters.
