Gaige Gaige was sitting outside her home, cleaning some... thing. That had rope on it. And metal bits. And was that a harpoon? It was probably best not to ask. Seriously. With her, it was really, really best not to ask.

The cocoa was on its way! she'd even managed to get some lil tiny marshmallows(she'd had to pay Moxxi a pretty penny, but she got them!) and now, the moment of truth was almost here. Yessss.
Alexis Maaka     A local buggy pulls up in surprising amounts of time. It doesn't take long for Maaka to track down Gaige's signal, before she pulls up with her booty in the trunk.

Not that kind of booty. Or that kind of trunk. Anyway. She picks Gaige out pretty quickly thanks to the cyberware, and grins a bit as she shoots the Mechromancer a salute. "Nice 'ware, kid." She comments, before she grabs a small crate worth of the glorious chocolate stuff.

She approaches, and Gaige will find just out tall Maaka really is looking at her face-to-face, especially with the combat boots and a coat that looks like an anti-hero from the 90s...the 1990s.

She drops the crate besides Gaige with a hearty THUD, before she draws a knife and begins to pray the container open, revealing several boxes of delicious Colombian cocoa bean-made hot chocolate mix.

SHOCKINGLY Latin America isn't just infamous for cocaine after all, it seems.
Gaige Gaige gasped and then, when it was opened... she squealed with delight and lunged at it, grabbing a packet and... "Oh. Sweet nectar of the heavens. Soon. Soon I will have a mug of you all to my own. Oh yes. yes yes yesssss. Right. Shield thing. Hold on. Right back."

Then ran inside. She had like, a half a dozen turrets jury rigged together. They didn't work, did they? She soon came out... minus the package. And held out... a shield. "This is a fire bird! A bad ass one, when it dies? It EXPLODES out! Like a fire grenade! BOOM! Totally awesome!" And then tossed it to her. "Just hook it up and you'll be good. Shouldn't be too hard."

"I started the cocoa. Want some when it's done? I got some of those cool mini marshmallows."
Alexis Maaka     Maaka is a bit surprised and yet amused by Gaige's near -psychotic- glee when it comes to cocoa, as she just keeps a distance. "Yeah, you're welcome." SHe smirks, before she watches Gaige return with a shield of sorts. "Huh, more portable than I expected. Figured it'd be more like a plate carrier or powered armor or some shit." She muses, catching the Fire Bird deftly. "So what, I clip it on and it activates? May as well do something while we wait for the water to boil."
Gaige Gaige glanced up and then... "Here." And then stepped into Maaka and, if not shoved away, took the shield, and began to apply and calibrate it and ACK! Dragged the girl into the work shop. "Hold on, I'll need to do a full scan. I don't think you have a pre-calibration unit, do you? No, figure not. Not from this verse. Hold on, I know I got one here somewhere... Ah!" She pulled a small thing up. It had a hand attached to it. She tossed the hand aside. Wiped the blood off as best she could. Then grinned, grabbed Maaka again, shoved her into the new-u unit. A few moments later, green scan! Voom! And then...

"Done!" she said happily, before dragging the girl out AGAIN! And then jamming the thing on her. It hummed to life. And then Gaige slapped her! Except... it bounced off and a barrier appeared. "Yes! It actually worked! ... Err, I mean... eh heh."

This was gaige's workshop. It was a pig sty of broken machines, cobbled together machines, and some food things. Food that barely counted as food. Seriously, how did this girl function?
Alexis Maaka     Usually Maaka's reflexes are keen enough that attempting to grab her to do ANYTHING to her person like this would result in violence. However, she remains semi-composed and baffled as Gaige just...does things, and drags her into the workshop.

The interior isn't too shocking, she's been operated on in dirtier places before, with just as many parts laying around. "You must keep busy around here. No shortage of machines and scrap lying about." SHe muses, just before the shield is tested through slapping. Blinking, she just...observes herself before grinning. "...oh this is sweet."
Gaige Gaige nodded. "I know, right? So like, I have mine set up in my arm, you know?" She held it up. "But I also hacked mine. So whenever it triggers, right? I can burn a bit of my blood, and it'll instantly fuel the shield back up. I've only passed out from blood loss once, but hey, I lived!" she said proudly. "Wouldn't have without it.

Then.... "YES! Cocoa!" And then... held out a cup, soon, with three little marshmallows. And even had a few seats. Sure, they'd been ripped out of a car, but soft! She took a sip, leaned back and closed her eyes. It... Was probably the first time the girl had seen the mechromancer calm. And it was... odd.

She just leaned back and there was just this... weird... sense that hovered about her. As if it was the first time she'd stopped in... ages. She took another soft sip and when her eyes opened, they were wet. "It's... really good cocoa... you know?" She wiped her eyes and gave a little sniffle.
Alexis Maaka     If Maaka were to guess, this kid isn't used to positive interactions with people. At all. From most people. It'd explain why she just gave away a shield like this so willingly for some hot chocolate. "Yeah, it's pretty high grade. Wasn't easy getting this stuff, though I'd say it was worth the risk."
Gaige Gaige nodded again. "Uh huh... yeah..." Another sip. "Really good. I... might need to have you get me another one sometime. I'm surprised you guys don't have those where you're from. Here everyone has them. Like, if you don't have a shield unit, chances are you'll just get shot walking down the street, you know?"
Alexis Maaka     "Pretty sure people get shot regardless." Maaka observes, folding her arms. "Some have tried, but kinetic shielding tech just isn't -there- yet, beyond sensor-scrambling coating for aircraft and armored vehicles." She says, testing how the shield emitter fits on her person. "Still shocked at how plug-and-play this thing is, to be honest. How much do they usually sell these things for?"
Gaige Gaige shrugged. "That one? Like a few hundred credits. The adaptor would normally be a bit more since I had to jury rig it, but I'll toss that in for free with the shield. That and I got it for free off this guy I killed and it's a lot of fun breaking through the security on those things."
Alexis Maaka     Maaka furrows her brow, before she shrugs. "Well, at least it's a freebie. Might be worth a field test soon." She rubs her chin, "YOu wouldn't happen to have any pending jobs to do around here, would you? No big nasties to kill or bandits to shoot?"
Gaige Gaige shook her head. "Nahhhh." She took another sip. "If you wanna wait a few hours, though. Like. There should be some bounty hunters on their way to kill me by about... say..." She checked her watch. "Two and a half hours. That's when next landing will take place. They usually pop by around then."

She popped a marshmallow into her mouth and gave a soft, content sigh. "I love you, my sweet, chocolatey delight..."
Alexis Maaka     Maaka blinks. It's kind of creepy how Gaige says that like she's expecting some rough weather. Then again bounty hunters would be -nothing- compared to the weather patterns this planet has to offer. "Well...I guess I'm not going anywhere, may as well back you up on that. If you want backup, anyways. They wouldn't even know I'm here if I get a good position." offers the cyborg, motioning to the sniper rifle slung on her back.
Gaige Gaige gives a shrug. "Eh. At this point, it's kind of like... common, you know? Most don't even make it through the turret defenses. Ferham helps me with some of them. A few of them actually get through, though, and death trap deals with them."

She shook her head. "It's just a bit... boring. Honestly. The bad ass ones never come. They just come and are all like 'Turn yourself over, little girl, and we won't have to hurt you. Much.' And then the laugh. They ALWAYS do the laugh. I mean, cliche much? Then they try to trick me with their whole 'But I won't kill you or nothing. They just wanna talk!' Like, bull shit. If they wanted to talk, my bounty wouldn't say dead or alive. You know?"
Alexis Maaka     "Psh, yeah. They're nothing if not uncreative. For everyone of 'em that manages to be creative and actually catch me with my pants down, most of them just try and hit me when I'm already in the middle of a gunfight." Maaka rolls her eyes. "Amateurs, mostly, or just idiots desperate for credits. So how much of a bounty you got on your head anyway?"
Gaige Gaige grinned wide. "Oh! Eight hundred and twenty billion. It's the highest in the universe, now," she said proudly.

HOLY CRUD! No wonder they kept trying to come and kill her! Like, HOLY CRUD! "Marcy's dad really knows how to hold a grudge. You know?" She took another sip of her cocoa. "Man, this is really good..."
Alexis Maaka     "...shit. Most I've managed is five million. I better step up my game." Maaka whistles.
Gaige Gaige nodded and leaned back. "Well, you're welcome to hang out and help me deal with them if you want. Might not be that fun, but who knows? It might be."
