Lyner Barsett      It's been a good week since the last battle to decide the fate of Ar Ciel took place. One to convince Horus that the planet was worth saving, and that humanity was changing. Many things happened. The Sea of Death was banished, the surface world got a healthy injection of life into it, and now... well, it was safe to come down to the actual land at the base of the tower in what must be centuries.

Lyner is among the first. He's come down to survey the new land and compile a report for Shurelia and Platina, along with a few other knights of Elemia. But it's not really a heavy group job. Explore, take notes, report back. A simple thing. Currently, he stands atop a hill, looking out across the recovering land in the distance.

"...Wow... So this is the world that everyone worked so hard to save. ...The world Ayla died for..." He sighs at that, but smiles a little, tapping a few keys into a tablet. "...We've come a long way." He's talking to himself. Very healthy, that.

But it's so peaceful. Hard to believe that this was a land of war and chaos long ago...
Jakuri     He's not alone for long! Mir surely wants to behold her handiwork as it were... And sooner or later she's also on the surface, lounging atop ELMA who remains her loyal taxi service. She overhears Lyner talking to himself and sits herself up to look at him, tilting her head slightly. "We don't need to dwell on the fact she's gone. Just that she didn't die in vain. Right?"
Lyner Barsett      Lyner perks up at the sound of a familiar voice and glances back to find Mir and ELMA. A truly constant sight. No matter the change of scenery. But she does have a point. "Yeah, you're right." He smiles and shakes his head. "No use constantly dwelling on it. It happened, and we managed to see her work through to the end." He looks off into the distance, and then lower himself down to have a seat on the hill. "Not just for her sake, but for everyone's sake as well. All the people on the planet, our friends, you, me..." A chuckle follows as Lyner trails off. "We're going to have to figure out what we'll do now that this is all over." He pauses a bit, then adds, "It feels like one story's ended, but another's begun, really, haha..."
Jakuri     "Heh," comes the initial sound from the Reyvateil as she continues to lounge atop her robodog. She likewise looks off into the distance, admiring what she can see and... Well, even Mir can admit it's pleasant. "There are always new stories to tell," she finally concludes after a moment, letting her eyes fall shut as she rests on her front atopp ELMA, feet loosely kicking in the air.
Lyner Barsett      "Ehhhhhhh...." Lyner murmurs uncertainly, laying back into the grass, arms crossed behind his head. "I guess that's always going to be true. Not like incidents and happenings in people's lives just stop happening because the world was saved." He chuckles a little bit at that. "Even so..." He trails off, staring up at the blue sky and the clouds. "...I'm not sure if I'm going to be involved in those new stories to come." The young man states plainly with a shake of the head. "This is the... third time I've saved the world? ...Well, not just me. Everyone else helped too, but still-" A sigh. "I'm getting a little bit tired of the rough and tumble excitement, the crazy world hopping, and factions and all of that." Lyner closes his eyes at that. "I'm already twenty five now. I think it's about time I let some other crazy, plucky, sword swinging fellow and their band of equally crazy friends defend the planet. I need a break."
Jakuri     Mir listens quietly as Lyner explains his feelings, before she finally slides free of ELMA and comes to seat herself beside the reclining swordsman. "Just how long a break are you thinking?" she finally asks after a long moment, looking at him then. "Won't you be... Bored, after a while?" A hand reaches out to gently pat his chest then, before Mir herself flops back into the grass and stares at the sky. "It's a strange feeling, saving the world you originally intended to destroy."
Lyner Barsett      Lyner hums thoughtfully, hear Mir take a seat next to him. "Well... hehe, maybe break was the wrong word. I was thinking of retiring from all the excitement and settling down to have a quieter life, really." He explains, eyes opening as he feels a hand pat his chest. There's a moment of thought, and then a shake of the head follows. "Well- probably. But I don't think it will be a boredom born of not being out on high flying adventures. Ahahaha... I don't know. I've been running around, doing crazy stuff for years now. I think I just want some true peace and quiet is all." That said, Lyner falls silent a bit, listening to the Reyvateil's statement. "Saving the world you meant to destroy, huh...?" Pause. "...Wait, weren't you involved in all that stuff over at Metafalss some years or so back?" He never got the full one hundred percent details, and he never really asked, but he knows Mir stuck with a band of crazies similar to his own, and they made some sort of difference. "So this is the second time, isn't it?"
Jakuri     "This is the second time," Mir confirms with a nod. "I felt it weird the first time, and I guess it's still a little weird now, too. For a long time after the whole... Multiverse became a thing, I guess I decided I was done with home. I wanted to make something new of my life... But here I am, laying on Ar Ciel's grass for the first time in my life. Staring at the sky. I guess it's just a little jarring."
Lyner Barsett      "Ahaha, well... it's not THAT weird, is it?" He laughs a little and looks aside at her, then back up to the boundless skies. "You're not a bad person. You just had some really bad circumstances. You can't let them confine your actions and thinking forever, can you?" Lyner shakes his head at that, and sighs. "... I was actually thinking of retiring and moving off-world myself." He admits without reservation. "I don't hate Ar Ciel by any means, but I think... I think moving away and living somewhere else would help give me a fresh perspective while also letting me have that break I want." He trails off then, but after a few seconds, the swordsman takes a deep breath, then sits himself up. "...Hey, Mir? Are you sure about... well, everything you said on the ship last week?" Can't avoid that forever. May as well address it now. He's had plenty time to think.
Jakuri     "Where are you thinking to go?" Mir asks as she finally ceases her staring at the sky, turning her head to look at Lyner. "Sounds like it might be nice, if you can find the peace and quiet you want." Of course, then the elephant in the room is made known. Blowing a sigh as she looks back toward the sky, she shakes her head slightly. "Yeah. I am sure about everything I said," she states simply. No need to beat around the bush!
Lyner Barsett      Guh. So she wasn't just saying all that in a fit of last minute regrets and the fear of not coming back or something or another. Well, they sure came back, and he promised he'd have some sort of answer if they made it out. What's he going to say now? "...Well..." He scratches his cheek with a finger lightly. "I'm... honestly not sure how to take it, really." He admits sheepishly. "I mean.. you're Mir! An amazing Reyvateil who's seen and done more than I could begin to gues at. And I'm just Lyner! Some guy who swings a sword." He shakes his head at that. "It feels like we're in two different lanes, despite our friendship, and I don't know... I'm not sure how to even imagine that working out, you know?" Both hands are brought up now in a placating manner. "I mean, I don't hate you or anything! Just... this isn't something I ever entertained being a possibility, and I'm just lost.. Haha... ha."
Jakuri     "You're always at least a little lost," Mir offers with a light snicker, a moment of her usual wit showing through. Another sigh soon leaves the Reyvateil though. "How, exactly, are we in 'different lanes', though? At this point we're both heroes. The difference being that you didn't do the terrible things I did." She sits up at that, looking at him with a flat expression. "In fact, despite that, you saved me."
Lyner Barsett      "Haha, hey wait I am not- ... okay, I'm a little lost." Or a lot. Lyner admits, head hanging. "But still... I can't put it into words! It's just..." He makes unintelligible gestures with his hands, which lead to no tangible point. "I mean... I'm not sure how to explain it, but there's just this weird ....something!" Something that he couldn't even begin to figure out that's walling him from this. "...And hey, everyone deserves a chance. I just thought it wouldn't be fair or right to just... kill you. Someone had to listen and offer you a chance to start over." Lyner smiles at that. His usual idiotic smile. "I just decided to be the one who'd do it."
Jakuri     "Yeah, you did," Mir confirms with a slight roll of her eyes and a smile of her own. Sometimes, that idiotic smile was just a little infectious. "Still... if that's how you feel, then that's fair enough. It's not as if I have any desire to tie you down." Mir ends up climbing to her feet then, taking a few steps before standing to look out over the view, hands held behind her back. "Maybe i'll go out and explore the Multiverse for a new home of my own, too."
Lyner Barsett      "Haha... I'm not really worried about being tied down or anything..." He's all but said that he's done with adventuring anyway. But at the point that Mir stands up, Lyner has a thought. "...... Ah geez, I'm doing that thing again, aren't I?" He mumbles, rubbing the side of his head. "Inadvertently being a jerk and all." A sheepish little laugh follows. "... Misha warned me about that a bunch of times in the past." He almost forgot since it's been so long.

And he was supposed to be trying to be more conscious of things like this. There's a deep breath, and a sigh. Lyner closes his eyes for a moment, thinking to himself, then he stands up. "Ahhhh! All this thinking is just making my head hurt!" He grouses, frantically tousling his hair in frustration. "Okay, how about this?" The swordsman offers a hand, palm up, to the Reyvateil. "Let's just... I don't know, Hang out? Date? At least that to start." He pauses, then chuckles, "I mean... it's not like we really need to get to know one another, but..." Beat.

"I'm going to need time to get to thinking about you like 'that'. But I should at least give you a chance." Finally saying that, he sighs, feeling like he finally tossed off a great weight. "...Is that okay?"
Jakuri     For a few moments, Mir simply stands, swaying slightly in the light breeze as she muses on just how to reply to the goofball she has, for some reason, fallen for. There's brief wondering if perhaps Shurelia felt like this at some point, but ultimately she simply looks over her shoulder and flashes a smirk. "We were already doing that, Lyner. You just hadn't cottoned on, yet." Yes, seems she's fine with his choice after all, flashing that very Mir Smile of her's at him.
Lyner Barsett      "........"

     Lyner tilts his head.

     "We were?"

     Tick....tock....tick....tock...

The cogs turn. Lyner looks up at the sky thoughtfully, looking back. Back to all the times Mir demanded to be taken here and there, to be given this and that, clinging to him for reasons he couldn't fathom.

     "........"

     Reality comes crumbling down.

Lyner grasps his head, eyes widening in shock as all that super delayed realization came flooding into his brain.
Jakuri     A rare giggle escapes Mir as she watches reality collapse in on itself for the poor boy, a genuinely amused sound followed by the Reyvateil gently coiling arms about the swordsman and leaning her cheek to his chest. "It's okay, though. We'll just call it business as usual."
Lyner Barsett      Loading... Loading... Loading... Loading...

"So wait, all this time, you were... and I didn't notice because I thought you were just being weird, and- Oh, Shurelia, how did I not notice?" It's so obvious now that he's been told! ... But then, this is Lyner Barsett. Whose denseness isn't beaten by anyone this side of the planet. It was business as usual back then when he had no idea, but now that he *does* know...

     "......"

Lyner responds properly for once, wrapping his arms around smaller Reyvateil and returning one of those hugs at long last.

     Progress.

"It's not business as usual. It's... I don't really know, but it's something."
Jakuri     A finger rises to poke Lyner's nose then, giving him a light boop as Mir's smirk becomes a more genuine smile once more. "We'll find out what it is together, then. I think I rather like the sound of that, don't you?"
Lyner Barsett      Boop.

"Hehe... I can't say I hate it." He responds with a sheepish smile of his own. He falls silent and looks off into the untouched lands in the distance, then up to the skies above. "... Yeah. We'll find out what it is in time."
