Yari Takane Another day, another long set of hours in the Concord. Life for Yari has changed, but the routine hasn't. Training in the morning, missions in the afternoon, and then a nice relaxing time at a bar. And after the last operation, the ninja needs it. So here she is, at the Bar and Grill, dressed in a long red and black kimono. Her hair's been done up in a bun, two sharp sticks between them. Just in case. Not that she expects trouble here, but a ninja is never unarmed.

Legs crossed, leaning back in her chair, she smiles to her companion as she swishes the wine in her glass. A pipe sits between her teeth, occasionally taking a drag and then holding it away from herself. She taps the end into an ash tray, and lets it sit for a moment.

"Have you adjusted well, Kilik? The Concord's structure is very different from the Confederacy. Almost informal." A small frown. "But the freedom is nice, at least. It's somewhat easier to operate that way for me." Muses the lizard girl.
Kirikou     Unfortunately for Kirikou he's unarmed. Or, well, unhanded. Something like that. Not helpless, but he's not geared for death. It's okay though, he's here to relax with a friend. The need to defend himself doesn't really cross his mind.

He looks quite relaxed actually, sprawling in his own chair with a beer in hand. In some worlds he's not old enough to drink, but he considers such rules foolish. He's no longer a kid and he's bigger than a lot of men. Nothing wrong with something cool to drink if you don't go overboard... a strong soul requires a strong mind and a strong body. He's not about to abuse any of those.

"It's kinda a relief actually." Kilik admits. "Don't get me wrong. I liked the League. What it stood for." he adds with a quick smile. Progress. Advancement. Dealing with the really big problems. "But I was worried it was ... weak. Too weak to do what needed to be done. Now that the League joined into the Concord, I know things are better. That we got the strength to do what needs doing."

He sighs, taking a pull of his drink, then something seems to strike him. He sets the mug down, tilting forward to rest an elbow on the table, looking at Yari. Not a bad thing to do, really. It's remarkable how good someone can look in a kimono. "And of course you're there." he adds, grinning broadly. Then the grin vanishes. "I.. that is, I mean, I wasn't SURE, back with the League. Because you'd gone to the Concord!" he explains hastily, worried he might have been a bit... forward. Without realizing it, that is. He's considered being forward before, but he doesn't want to do it by accident! "Shiiiit, I always had that doubt. That maybe I'd made the wrong choice. But now I know I'm where I should be. Because I trust your judgment." he says earnestly.
Yari Takane Yari considers, crossing and re-crossing her legs. Her tail flicks over the side of the chair. Flick flick sway.

A tap to her chin. "I'll agree. But I'm not a scientist, really. I like rules, structure, advancement through talent and succeeding...whatever the lack of overt military structure, the Concord provides that. And with the free thinkers, explorers, and geniuses of the League to tackle the conceptual problems, this leaves people like me to work on the ground. The arrangement is a good one."

Yari's gaze widens just a touch for a moment. Was Kilik serious, or was he being his usual goofball self? Her head tilts for just a moment. Her smile turns to a knowing smirk finally.

"I'm glad you think that highly of me, Kilik. Is it really alright to be saying that about an assassin?" Questions the lizard.

Then she leans back. "But you need to learn to trust your own judgement. That's important. In order to become truly strong, you need to obtain the power and confidence in yourself in order to..." Smirk. She leans just forward a touch.

"Seize what you want if you find the opportunity."
Kirikou     Back on easier ground with that stumble out of the way, and probably somewhat relaxed due to drink, Kirikou eases back once again. "Why wouldn't I say that about you?" he asks, only a little playful. "So what if you're a killer. So'm I." he says casually. No doubt she knows he's an assassin too, of sorts. He regularly killed people on behalf of Lord Death, and was good at it besides. "We were surrounded by killers. Still are. Difference is, you got honor. And you got compassion too." he grins. That more than anything was why Kirikou started liking Yari. "And if you're ruthless with your enemies, well, that's just one more reason to like you." he adds with a smirk. "And not to be an enemy!" he adds with a half-muffled laugh.

He eyes the woman, considering. Kilik has problems reading people. Not just women, but he definitely has more trouble with women than with men. He really isn't sure what Yari means about seizing what he wants. Another man might've taken that as flirting. Kilik's more used to Blair's style of flirting. Subtle as a ten ton hammer.

"I picked the League for good reasons." Kirikou finally says. He pauses, considers briefly. "Still was the right choice at the time for me. But it's good knowing you're here." he claims. "And that I'm here now too." he says. "Probably said it before when your kid went missing. You can always call on me. Even if we're on different sides, if there's something you feel is important, I'll help fight for it. I don't think it's a bad thing either. I trust my own power, trust my goals. But that don't mean I can't trust you too!"
Yari Takane Her tail goes limp suddenly. It's amusing, but also gives Yari the realization that yes, poor Kilik is as dense as he seems. It's cute, in a way. And worrying for someone to just be so oblivious.

Flick flick flick. That tail creeps around, and...wrap! Right around the ankle! Cliiiing.

Here, Yari actually sits a little more straight. She almost preens, but that would be improper. Instead there's a light glow of pride. Even she likes compliments when they're earned. "I'm not that impressive. But I'll agree, I honestly prefer not having you as an enemy either. Someone with a unique outlook like yours is dangerous. I'd rather have that by my side if I can help it."

Way too much emphasis on that last bit. But will Kilik take the bait? The ninja waits, and assesses.

"You're a loyal man, Kilik. I like that. Well, I'm sure we'll be fighting alongside each other. I have few...projects I'd like to work on, especially with the Fleet. Maybe I can convince the Admiral. Or if I need things done that she wouldn't agree with..."

A pause, and she considers. "What are you after, really, Kilik? What are you striving for?"
Kirikou     Yep. Kilik's a poor dumb teenager. Not socially maladjusted, just so easygoing socially that he has trouble actually changing the status quo. That sort of thing creates friction, and the utility Meister's stock in trade is to always ease friction among friends and allies.

Of course he didn't expect to be grabbed! That's friction of an entirely different sort! "Hey!" he protests, not all that strongly. He likes playfulness! "You don't see me trying to grab your tail!" he says. "Or... uh..." he considers a moment. Grabbing isn't quite right. "Kick your tail?" he says. Okay that doesn't sound quite so suggestive. A bit threatening maybe, but of course he's not intending to do any such thing. He laughs it off, his instincts once again trying to make this not be weird.

Trying to take things a bit easier, though not actually trying to free his leg, Kirikou leans back and takes a drink. He drains the beer, apparently needing some time to think. "What I'm after?" he asks when he's done, finally putting the mug firmly down onto the table. "Aw, I dunno." he says. "At first I just went to Death Academy to look after my cousins. You know." he shrugs. Fire and Thunder, both living Weapons, both needing to go to the Academy to learn to control their power. "Found out I was good at it. Found out I liked it." he adds. "Not the killing people. Well okay, that's part of it." he shrugs. "I mean, you gotta know right? Killing people who need killing, that's a good thing. It's hard, and it's not a job for someone who doesn't have the balls to do what's needed."

He pauses, seems to mentally rewind a moment. "Ah, you know what I mean!" he says, blushing. The redness doesn't really show up on his dark cheeks, but it's still pretty obvious from his expression. "If ya wanna know what I'm really after, it's that." Kilik says roughly. "I like being good at what I do. I don't have all the answers, but I can fight to help those who do. And I can kill the monsters while I'm at it!" he adds, a slight smirk creeping back onto his face. He isn't exactly a huge braggart or anything, but then one doesn't have to be arrogant to be proud.
Yari Takane That tail, it should be noted, doesn't let go. Yari smiles just a bit, and sighs. This will be a hard nut to crack!

"I'd prefer it if you'd not do either. My tail is very sensitive." she's not even trying to flirt here, a small hint of earnestness.

But she does consider his past very seriously. "At first it was about family, and then you realized you enjoyed the work. It's definitely not a /good/ thing, Kilik. But. I can understand. You're right. There are trash masquerading as people that need to be eliminated in order for worlds to have a strong and productive society. But I know the pleasure of the hunt." Acknowledges the ninja.

She considers, and finally nods. "You're a very earnest person, Kilik. That's dangerous in our profession. But I also think you might be strong enough to survive despite that. I consider it one of your good traits."

Finally, her tail lets go. She leans back. And finally, gives him a challenging look.

"But I think there's been something you have been wanting to ask me this entire time. Are you brave enough to say it?"
Kirikou     The tail's sensitive? That's something Kilik's going to keep in mind whether he wants to or not. "Well, I wouldn't wanna hurt ya or anything." he grins. He really wouldn't want to hurt her. But it might be something to playfully threaten her with sometime if she keeps grabbing him like that.

He seems pleased by the praise, though becomes obviously confused by the challenge. "Uhh... no, I can't think of anything." he confesses, baffled. But he continues to think, not wanting to let the ninja woman down. The question gets various thought processes going. There WAS something he did want to ask her. But this wasn't just some conversation he'd been leading up to or anything. It's just not the way he works. His confusion lies in trying to figure out what she might mean. If there was something she thought he wanted to ask.

"Well, I guess I could ask why YOU fight." he acknowledges. "But I already know enough of that to suit me. You can tell me more any time you like." He notes her challenging look, figuring why not? She's calling him out here. Asking if he's brave enough. Kilik's never lacked courage, just common sense. Almost without thinking his mouth opens. "Do you wanna go out?" he asks, blurting out the question. Then, too late, he actually thinks. "I mean, we ARE out. But I mean going out. Like, you know, going out. Dating." he rambles. "I mean I'm not sure if what we're doing now counts but..." he pauses, looking at Yari, trying to see if maybe he's angering her or embarrassing her or if maybe she's just confused or something. "... ah... hey, you DID ask!"
Yari Takane A deep breath, and there you have it! Yari finally smiles openly. "There. You said it, finally. You're too easy to read sometimes, you know that, Kilik? Alright. I will go out on a date with you." She leans over the table, and a single finger pokes Kilik's nose. It's a playful motion, one reserved for friends that she's not afraid to let down her military upbringing around.

"There's very few men I'm willing to have a date with, so be sure to show me the best that you have, alright? Glory and honor, Kilik! Impress me."

Then, she's standing up, and arms wrap around him. "You're a valuable companion to me, no matter what."
Kirikou     Wait what, really? Just like that? Kilik's surprised. He'd always seen treating girls like girls to be one of those things. He's more inclined to treat them like friends, with the problem that it makes things awkward if there's the potential for more-than-friends. But this wasn't awkward, and it didn't risk the friendship. Kirikou returns the hug, wrapping Yari in his arms unselfconsciously. And rocking her about a bit too, for that matter. Hey, he's got Fire and Thunder. He knows how to give good hugs to smaller figures. "I'll have to plan the mission carefully!" he jokes, probably a bit sillier than he'd otherwise be due to relief.
