Evangeline      It is a warm and sunny day at Mont-Saint Michael's, the old monastery and cathedral that has been converted into an airbase for the group known as the Stike Witches. Getting here wouldn't be hard, but anyone coming toward the base would pass several military checkpoints that make it obvious that despite the rather idyllic countryside that all is not well on this world. The base is located right on the beach, with a long runway that stretches into the ocean.

Upon arriving, visitors would be met by Commander Minna, a confident-looking young woman of about 18 with long red hair, along with Major Sakamoto, a black haired Japanese woman of about 19 who wears a black eyepatch over her left eye. The main building and spires behind them are monalithic in stature, and there is a general feeling of 'active warzone' about the place.
Kotone Shiomi Conversely, Kotone Shiomi looks like a regular japanese teenager in a fairly straightforward school uniform. She hasn't even brought her naginata or evoker with her, so for all intents and purposes she may as well be. She makes a polite bow towards the commanding officers present when arriving, "Chevalier Kotone Shiomi, I was invited." She greets, Paladin ID pinned to her chest for ease of confirmation.
Evangeline      The two officers smile amicably to Kotone as she arrives. Minna offers a hand in greeting and gives a firm shake. "Commander Minna, and this is Major Sakamoto. The Strike Witches aren't really part of the Paladins officially. We were members of the Union, but with all that happened it seemed like the best thing for the base was to stay unaffiliated. Evangeline though is a creature of strong character, and I guess she felt that joining your ranks would help her as well as allow her to help more people." the commander explains as Kotone is escorted toward the main building.

Once inside, the pair continue toward the mess hall. "Evangeline has been making more and more friends since she started participating in Multiversal events. Although, truth be told, we have enough trouble here that she should have plenty to distract her. I guess between attacks I can't really fault her for having a social life."

In the mess hall, there are several more young women and girls, ranging in age from 12 to 16 and ethnicity from asian to American. It isn't clear which one is Evangeline to someone who hasn't met her. The first person to actually greet Kotone is one of the youngest, a Japanese girl that looks no more than 12 or 13. She smiles brightly and bows politely. "Welcome to the 501st! Are you a friend of Evangeline's?" she asks, her medium-length brown hair looking a bit like a broom atop her head.
Kotone Shiomi Kotone seems a little bit awkward about it all, nodding and smiling through the conversation with the commanders until she gets further into the base and meets the girl, "Uhh... friend seems a little bit of a strong word? Coworkers is probably better." There's a nervous smile, "I'm Kotone Shiomi, I'm with the Paladins." She explains.
Evangeline      The mess hall has a long table that looks like it could seat at least 12 people, and right now about half the chairs are filled by the various members of the 501st, most of whom are friendly and offer a wave of a smile. "I'm Yoshika Miyafuji!" says the young girl who's been talking with Kotone already. "Evangeline is in the kitchen working. I usually cook, but she wanted to give it a try today. I'll go get her!" Yoshika then runs off into the kitchen, leaving Kotone alone with the others for a moment.

Kotone might or might not notice a girl about Yoshika's age but of Mediterranian descent and with long black twin ponytails closing in behind her, her hands making a 'squeezy-squeezy' motion. But, just before she strikes Major Sakamoto coughs loudly and the girl yelps before letting out a mischievious giggle. "What? She's new!" says the girl. "She is not a Strike Witch, and I've asked you to cut that out anyway." the major says.

The girl whines childishly, then makes her way around to a chair by a tall, well built red-head. "Here she is!" Yoshika calls out, and Kotone finds herself introduced to a girl who could very well be a monster of some kind. All metallic, jet black, she is shaped overall like a young girl, but has cat ears and a cat tail, and...doesn't seem to have any facial features, like some kind of mannequin. She bows similarly to Yoshika from her spot a few inches off the ground. "...hello..." she says, her voice sounding a bit synthetic as it flows not from her face but from a red watch around her right arm. "...you are...Kotone..?"
Kotone Shiomi If only Kotone had met Aigis yet, this might not be as weird. She smiles and nods at the others, looking a bit askance at what that one girl is up to, and taking a nervous step back. "Hi all." It seems initial awkwardness ends fairly quickly, however, and considering what she's up to at night, Evangeline isn't that weird. "It's nice to meet you all, and yes I am Kotone." She bows again, especially towards Evangeline. "I fight a kind of monster called shadows and explore a magical tower which seems to act as their nest."
Evangeline      Evangeline looks up at Kotone and tilts her head slightly. "...I am a Neuroi...in this world...my people are considered the monsters...and many are...but I'm part of a group that wants peace..." she says, then motions to the table. "...dinner will be ready soon...please have a seat..." she says, then floats back toward the kitchen.

All the other girls are seated by now, and Yoshika motions to a spot across from her. "Sit there!" she says cheerfully and trying not to let things drift toward the darkness of the Neuroi War. "She still needs some practice, but Eva's become a pretty good cook." Evangeline floats out about that time with a large pan with an equally large roast beef and plenty of vegetables steeped in the gravy from the roast. "...eat up everyone..." Evangeline says as she sets the roast in the middle of the table, and another girl of most likely English heritage with long braided brown hair brings in plates and utensils.
Kotone Shiomi Kotone sits down where instructed, and takes a look at the food and picks up the utensils, a bit awkwardly for she doesn't eat western style food all that often. "The monsters I'm talking about eat people's minds, leaving them shallow husks." She explains about the nature of the Shadows, "If they would just leave people alone, so would we. We fight because someone has to protect those people, not because we want to." She tries to reassure, and then looks at the food, "That smells good."
Evangeline      The girls each fill their plates with oversized amounts of food given their own size, even Evangeline. The unusual girl 'sits' beside Yoshika, though she doesn't actually sit down. She floats just barely above the seat, her fixed-joint legs pointed out in front of her beneath the table. "The enemy Neuroi seem to have no goal in mind other than the complete destruction of humanity and perhaps this entire planet." Minna says solemnly between bites. "We don't know why they decided we needed to be destroyed, but humanity has been pushed to the brink of extinction by them. At least, on this world."

Evangeline looks down at her plate, then holds out a sleeve-like arm. The flat end of it glows a rather sinister-looking red before a red light envelopes the meal on her plate. The meat and vegetables shimmer before simply...disappearing. Evangeline then sits back. "...even I do not know why the Neuroi leaders seek humanity's destruction...but it is time all the violence stopped...if I could just figure out how to convince the other Neuroi..."
