THE LAND OF CIREEN

EARLY EVENING

The town of Windswept can hardly be called that really. A hamlet full of traders, sailors, hunters and merchants, it is more like a large trading post than anything resembling a village. Still, this place has something that other places don't, and that is its location. Windswept is the only thing that can be called civilization in this crucial part of the world. The only area where commerce of any sort happens between the sea and the mainland. If there is something that Windswept doesn't lack is traffic, as mighty vessels can be seen docked in the disproprtionally large dock, and caravans full of soldiers and merchants prepare to make their voyage into the forest. Commerce, commerce, commerce, this place has plenty of it despite its small size.

It is here that our adventure begins. A small delegation of Windswept representatives are already out of the scene, having expected some help from the well known group of vigilantes known as the Watch.

What they probably were not expecting is a giant green skinned ogre to land from the sky by way of a rocket pack directly in front of them.

"Wh-what in the world is this beast!?" The lead representative of the town, a woman who is apprently the Major, recoils away from Brikkfist along with her entourage.

This would be a perfect opportunity for other Watch members to intervene before the Windswept representatives flee from Brikkfist, or worse, start attacking him.
Dorian Pavus     What's Dorian doing here? Clearly, he just happened to be in the area. That's what he'll tell anyone not affiliated with the Watch that asks about this. That said, he's moving awful fast for someone who 'just happened to be in the area' when the trouble started. He's blinking in and out of view, his form dissolving into a puff of blue-white, icy smoke as he approaches the area.

Once he's close enough that he'll be seen, though, he settles for walking. Or, as he pretends to look at the scene and blink in surprise, jogging closer. He's a well-groomed man with dark hair and dark skin, gray eyes, and a very well-groomed mustache! He's dressed in light-colored leather armor, with a white cloak over the lot, and carrying a staff with three serpetine dragon heads at the top. More than that, he's a HUMAN! So maybe his appearance will calm things somewhat.

As he arrives on the scene, he asks the clearly frightened not-Orkz on the scene, "Pardon me for intruding, but might I ask what's going on? This seems an awful lot of ruckus in such a beautiful place." Flattery and a calm tone, as well as a reassuring smile. And Dorian does have a winning smile. Hopefully that'll help the townspeople calm down.

Not that he isn't surprised by Brikkfist. Even Qunari aren't so... 'rough around the edges'. And those teeth are most definitely something that a townsperson would be afraid of. And would probably have every right to be! But right now he's trying to calm things, so he can figure out what's going on.
Deelel Deelel was clad in the odd cargo pand ns partial body suit she tended to wear in user space. She however had a cloak on to day one with a high lighted line of glowing blue on the edge that hid everything but her head and she currently had a dark helmet which showed no signs or seams which hid her entire face she would be comming up just behind Dorian. She certainly uis not locak but it's also hard to tell who she is, and where she might be from unless one knew the fashion styles of the grid.
She took a deep breatth more out of habit than need and haamed as she saw them staring from Brikkfist.

"I'd suggest we stop and have a bit of a chat rather than meet the fists of our big green friend here. Trust me, his race is no laughing matter to fight."

Orks were strong and Deelel was well aware of that and what they could do in a fight. Her voice is also warped dititally by the helemt it seems and might untinally come off as imposing...
Brikkfist
Dorian, ever the charmer, has a way to calm the townspeople. There's just something about such an elegantly dressed man standing next to a brute like Brikkfist withouth a care in the world that is strangely comforting. Surely, if he can stand next to the Ork like that then the beast might not mean any harm. When Deelel appears and strongly suggests everyone calms down before the Ork gets punchy, it also suggests that these people may be the ones they're looking for.

And a look of horrified realization dawns on the Windswept representatives.

Oh Gods, -these- are the people they are waiting for.

The other two push the Mayor forward and she glares at them before giving a worrying glance up at Brikkfist and his companions.

"Ahem." She clears her throat. The Mayor appears to be at least of partial elven descent and bears modest but well made garmets. "I am Illmadia Fayor, Mayor of this town. We've heard rumors that -some- individuals were coming to assist us with some problems we're having."

She looks at the three and visibly gets nervous. "May you be... available.. to help us...?"

Inwardly she looks like she's hoping the trio decline to help them all.
Dorian Pavus     Dorian sends a look at Deelel at her words. She speaks as though she's got some familiarity with whatever this green fellow is. But for now, there's more important things to do than ask about allies. Besides, that's unprofessional. It makes one look like one doesn't know what one's doing. Also it would out Dorian, and he's trying to avoid that for now.

So instead he turns to the Mayor as she's pushed forward. "Ah, well. I was merely passing through." THERE'S the excuse. He continues, "But I do make it a habit of fixing problems if I come across them." He bows to the Mayor, with a flourish. "Would you accept my assistance, good lady?"

Dorian is skilled at talking 'up' to people without actually sucking up. He's not flirting, either... yet. He's got his voice pitched in a coaxing fashion, though. As if to comfort -- to say that sure, there's scary people here, but this fellow here (Dorian) means no harm.
Deelel Is just looking to the people between the Ork and Dorian. She doesn't remove the helmet just yet, and she tilts her head.

"Help? I would be up for that depending on what it is." The face plate melts away in glowing wire-frame revealing what would look to be a human woman of some sort with blue black hair and bright green eyes, but there's something slightly off about her. She seems friendly at the very least..

"Tends to keep my busy so what is the nature of the problem?"

She looks over to Brik for a moment.

"Take it your here for this too? The Id's Deelel by the way."
Brikkfist
The charm is real! If what Dorian says is true and these fellows just happen to be random bounty hunters then the town is probably better off hiring them rather than put their stock in any one faction. After all Windswept is a strongly independant community and they would like to keep it that way.

The Mayor smiles kindly, properly charmed by Dorian's demenour and returns the greeting with a short bow. "Thank goodness, yes, we would be glad if you can help us." She gives the Ork and the woman with the melting helmet another worried look. "I assumed you were all together." The elven woman motions to the others. "These are my assistants, Tolvar Greenbeard our head Ranger and Jerald Castille manager of the Windswept port, they can tell you a bit more about what is troubling lately." A dwarf in a green cloak and a tall human fellow carrying a harpoon step forward.

The human starts; "So, I don't know what you've heard about Windswept here, but we've always had a guardian of our name. A water dragon named Skaldr. He's kept our town protected from the horrors of the sea for generations, asking for measly monthly tribute in the form of gold."

Then the dwarf interjects. "But he does nothing about what happens in the forest! What's the bloody point of paying full price if he only does half the job??"

"This where Versius comes in." Finishes up the elven Mayor. "Versius is a lich that has recently taken shop in a local abandoned tower. Strangely, he seeks to make business with us. In return for our dead he says that he'll protect us from the beasts that attack our caravans from the forest." She sighs, "But we're not sure about making an alliance with a Lich. Not to mention that the two won't cooperate with each other and we are worried that favoring one will make us enemies of the other. Lich or Dragon, neither of those are things we can fight off."

Brikkfist finally speaks as Deelel addresses him and he snorts loudly. "Yeh! Dis iz tha' gitz I wuz tellin ya lot 'bout. Iz Brikkfist by tha way, ya can count on me ta stomp 'ooever getz in our way."
Dorian Pavus     Dorian listens to the issue with a thoughtful look. "Well. One's limited to the water and one's limited to the land, from the looks of it," he observes. "I don't see why the two of them wouldn't be able to just avoid each other. I'd be happy to talk to them and see what the problem is, though. I might get further with the Lich -- I don't exactly relish the thought of trying to dredge up a water dragon."

And since introductions are the way to go apparently, Dorian bows to the assembled crowd. "Dorian, altus mage of House Pavus. How do you do?" The introduction is to the crowd a large because, well... he's pretending to be a free agent, more or less, so it wouldn't make sense for everyone to know his name. Besides, he legitimately hasn't met Brikkfist before.
Deelel Deelel listens as the tale of the dragon is given ot them for a moment.

"So he guards the way from the sea for a bit of coin? Well the forests? Humm there could be a reason for that I admit."

She notes, after all the dragon's power might not work away from the Sea but if the dragon has upheld the agreemnt for so long she can't see them screwing with steady gold supply. o something strike sher as funny about that but she listens to her about the litch for a moment. 5R
"So your not sure if the lich is being on the level with this and even if he is there might be bad blood between them and the dragon."

She sighs for a moment looking to Dorianm for a moment then Brikkfist and then back to the locals nodding.

"It seems that more Data is required on this."

It's time to go diggin for information.

"Is there any sort of formal written deal with the Waster Dragon by chance?"
Brikkfist
Brikkfist grins broadly showing his MASSIVE tusks and sharp teef to Dorian as the trio of Windswept representatives nod amongst themselves.

Yeah, these will do, they think.

"Unfortunately there isn't." Responds the Mayor to Deelel. "Skaldr forged the agreement with settlers generations before us. Even if there was a written document it was probably lost in the war that swept through this region recently. Not to mention that it was all probably in Draconic, a language that no one but dragons know at this point."

"We can, however, lead you to any destination you like. Feel free to take one of our ships to visit Skaldr, or our Ranger here can safely lead you up the mountain where the Lich lives."
Dorian Pavus     Okay wow, those are some teeth. Resisting the urge to step back lest he get accidentally bitten, Dorian stands his ground. It wouldn't look good to anybody for him to show fear in this situation. He turns his attention to the Mayor instead.

Listening, with a thoughtful look, he suggests, "We do need to talk to them both. I don't see why we shouldn't be able to." Pause. "I... should admit to having a little more experience with the sort the Lich might be. Slightly." He's not about to just announce he's a necromancer, but he'll give that much, at least.
Deelel Deelel Says "So it's verbal, I see." She make think about other things may be going on it's clear this migh be more complex about what's going on here as clearly something is going on but what? She also gets the comment about the civilians looking like a mob. What is going on here?.

"I have had to deal with things not like humans or other like creatures in the past as well and I'm well geared for such things and experuiance in like situations."
Brikkfist
With a grumbled snort that sounds like could come from a dragon itself, Brikkfist nods his head at something that Dorian in particular said.

"Roit den, guess we betta talk to dis boney git den. Work our way up tha bigga onez! Yeh, datz a good plan."

The Mayor nods, "As you wish." She motions towards the dwarven Ranger. "Torvolt here shall see you safe up the mountain."

The dwarf simply scoffs and waves his hand. "It's just a five minute walk up this way, stop sounding so dramatic." Then he motions to the group. "Come on, let's get a move on it. Even if its not far from here I rather not get stuck up that mountain at night. That's when the beasties start popping out."
Dorian Pavus     Dorian bows to the Mayor. "Thank you." And to Torvolt he offers a smirk. "That does tend to be the way of things. Light a candle in the darkness and they all scatter like cockroaches in a basin." Nonetheless, he can understand, so he makes ready to follow the dwarf. "Not to worry though, if we encounter any resistance, I'm quite sure between us, that we won't have much to worry about."
Brikkfist
Tolvort scoffs at Dorian. "That's actually what I'm worried of." He spits to the side as the trek begins. "You blokes look like you could blow up the whole region on your own. If you're gonna off Versius at least try to not take out our town in the process." He grumbles. "And on that note, if you're gonna off -someone- try not to kill both the Lich and the bloody Dragon. We defenitly need at least one protector alive."
Dorian Pavus     "Surgeon or demolitionist?" Dorian replies, with a smirk. "I've played both. Not to worry on that score either, my good man -- we'll leave SOME of the place intact." The way he smirks indicates that he may be teasing the dwarf.

Though he does nod. "I did not come here to off someone. That is an absolute last resort, as far as I'm concerned. If a fight happens, I'll be looking to end it non-lethally if at all possible."
Brikkfist
The dwarf doesn't look very convinced but knows he can't argue. "If you say so. But you can't blame me for being doubtful considering the company you keep." He motions slightly towards the giant green skin that is Brikkfist. "Anyway, like I said, as long as you don't blow up the town or kill both of them I'm not really worried."

After a few minutes of treking up a hill, the dwarf leads everyone to a giant castle with an ominously large door. "This is the place and as far as I get you. Good luck to ya. Versius is quite the eccentric so watch your back, alright?"
Dorian Pavus "Magical barriers are wonderful things, do you know?" Dorian gives a smile here, but will not elaborate on it. When they reach the castle he tilts his head. Though he nods to the dwarf; he expected to be left there. "Thank you. For the escort as well as the advice. Take care."

This said he goes to the door -- slowly, mind... and he begins using that 'magic-smelling nose' of his to check for any magical traps. Though he's not literally sniffing around. It's more he's opening his senses to pick up traces of magical traps that he should be aware of.
Brikkfist
All this mukking about is really getting on Brikkfist's nerves. When the dwarf leaves and Dorian sloooowly begins to open the door, being wary of any traps that may be laying behind, the Ork -FINALLY- loses his inhibition and falls victim to that recklessness Orks are known for.

"ARGGH! JUSS ZOGGIN' OPEN THA DOOR ALREADY!" He says with a roar and SLAMS his massive fist into the door.

This causes the giant door to fly off its hinges and SLAM into the inside of the castle. At least, Dorian would have noticed that there were no magical traps set on the door. Looks like Versius wasn't expecting any kind of interlopers in his castle. Because really, who'd be dumb enough to go throujgh the front door?

"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS!!?" A rumbling dark voice calls from the darkness and out comes--

A skeleton in a red bath robe holding a cup of tea. Looks like Versius -really- wasn't expecting any interlopers, he's literally wearing his PJs.

"Did you idiots just knock down my door?? Do you have any idea how much that costs??"
Dorian Pavus     "No wait---!" But it's too late. The door falls off the hinges, and Dorian facepalms. The appearance of the skeleton gets a surprised blink. "...I'm terribly sorry, sir. My friend here is a bit... enthusiastic." That's a good way to put it.

"Actually we came to talk to you," he says quickly. "I've been made aware of something of a quandry the people in the nearby town are in regarding your services?"
Brikkfist
"Talk to me? TALK TO ME!?" With a flourish of dark power Versius' bath robe changes into that of proper Lich rob and he begins glowing with a purple aura. "You barge into my home, knock down my door, and then have the gall of questioning me??" He levitates and the entire castle seemingly begins to shake. "Tell me one reason."

"ONE GOOD REASON!"

"Why I shouldn't just flay all your skins right now and make you my new minions!"
Deelel Well things are getting more and more interesting as she now gets to thinking for a moment and she'll get moving along with the dwarf and the rest Deelel has been quiet for the moment as they get to the door and they hopefully get in she supresses a laugh at Brikkfist being annoyed by the door's speed and to be honest she is too. She will look at the moment amnd the doro gets knocked down she pauses for a moment she bows slightly.

"I am ... sorry and I will see about doing something about repairs. One I don't have skin as you know it, two we came to ask you questions about your situation with the town and the water dragon if you have a history together..."
Dorian Pavus     Dorian flinches a bit at the anger of the lich, and steps back. "In all seriousness, I had no intention of causing any damage. What if we arrange for it to be repaired?" he inquires. He hasn't gone for weapons yet, so there is that.
