Ryu     Luca is a bustling port city, full of active and happy folks. Blitzball is a powerful culture here. But Ryu is looking for something else. He follows his nose, and walks through the crowded streets. His gold eyes and blue hair might cause some pause (does he have Guado blood?) but otherwise he's undisturbed as he walks to the edge of town. He pauses at the top of the stairs leading out onto the main road, and stares out over Luca and the ocean for a moment, then turns to begin walking down the road. Unfortunately, he was not aware other worlds have an abundance of hostile beasts that will lunge at anyone that seems alone and unaware, and so...

    --Sometime Later--

A pack of fiends surround a small family, who had been thrown off their chocobos by the overzealous monsters. One of them has already been killed, being cradled in the arms of a sibling. The most they can do is hold them off for now. At least, until the scent of blood draws a far different creature to the location. There's a loud BOOM as the sound barrier is ruptured and one of the fiends is struck by something moving so fast it could only be described as a blur. The silver blur sliiides to a stop as the bisected fiend's pyreflies float into the sky, the momentum being halted with the claws from the humanoid dragon's long arms. Legs are coiled, four colorful faerie-like wings spread out and vibrate, and then another sudden movement.

    BOOM!

The dragon SMASHES into Bomb, claws embedding in its face and smashing it into the grass and dirt so hard dust kicks up in the air. But the smell of blood and combat has attracted more fiends than just the wolf-like thing and the Bomb, and Ryu struggles to fight them all.
Josuke Higashikata Sunday has started to be Josuke's day to explore the Multiverse. Now that his mother knows about the Multiverse, he's on the lookout for places she might like to visit. Because let's face it, who wouldn't want to see other dimensions if they had the opportunity to? Besides, this world has BIRDS instead of horses! How cool is that?!

Though he's limiting his search to places that are relatively safe. There's a lot of scary places out there in the Multiverse. It's this seaside city that he's exploring now -- apparently they call it Luca. Which Josuke has a little trouble saying properly, thanks to his accent -- it comes out closer to 'Ruka'. Hopefully the locals don't mind.

He's wearing casual clothes today -- a light green shirt with dark green vertical stripes, a pair of blue slacks, and a pair of light green loafer shoes that match his shirt. For whatever reason, he's got a white belt cinched around the upper thigh of his left leg; it's tight enough not to slip off easily, but not tight enough to cut off circulation. And he's wearing a rather large gold necklace around his neck, with a pendant that looks like a stylized anchor.

He's close to the entrace to town, so the sounds of something going BOOM out there on the road are just loud enough to catch his attention. "...What's that?" he muses aloud, with a frown. And a pout. Because unless it's a grin, there's probably a pout attached to it. Maybe it's just how his face looks. Who knows?

Either way he starts towards the sound of the noise, running as fast as he can. He's not super-fast, but he's pretty well-built and trim, and he's running pretty fast by human standards.
Bahamut      It is little more than a few seconds after that first 'BOOM' that a set of glowing golden runic circles appear in the sky above Ryu and the ambushed family. Something appears in the sky above, looking as though it is coming down from orbit. The black speck quickly grows in size as it approaches, and then with a thundering crash it smashes through the various golden circles leading down to the ground somewhat like the guiding lane on a flight simulator. They outline the object's path, and as it nears the battle sight its shape comes into focus while a booming roar echoes across the plains. Another dragon, this one gunmetal grey with golden accents and eye-catching plummage. He flies over the sight like a jet, then banks up sharply and drops down. He lands with a loud thud, sending out a shockwave before he roars again and rises to his full height before crossing his arms over his chest.

"Leave them alone." he growls to the fiends before he bares his own claws and fangs. He looks to Ryu, then over to Josuke as he arrives. Then he looks to the wolf-fiend and in a lunge sends it bouncing away, huge clawmarks leaving pyreflies floating into the air.
Ryu     The sound of a loud thundering crash has Ryu snapping his head upward, looking up at the sight with his bright gold eyes. His draconic mouth cracks open and he audibly says, "What /now/!?" as the pyreflies of his last target float up around him. But he can smell the magic in the air, and figures perhaps he was summoned here to deal with these things. When Bahamut comes in for his landing, Ryu braces himself, and his wings flutter. His pupils shrink, the cat-like slits obvious. He looks intimidated by the bigger dragon. Ryu's still human-sized in dragon form.

Then Bahamut strikes another fiend, and Ryu realizes that this is an ally. The dragon whips around and cracks his long tail across the jaw of an enormous beast with two spikes coming out of its shoulders, breaking its neck from the sheer speed of the impact... but only after it manages to claw him a bit. He hisses and fusses like a cross between a komodo dragon and a cat, his snout wrinkling and his wings spread extra wide, as he tries to position himself for another attack without leaving himself open.

His eyes flick to note Josuke's approach. A soft growl rumbles in his chest. He doesn't want to have to keep track of another person, but... He doesn't complain. Maybe he'll help.

There's a few fiends left. A couple blast Ryu with waves of ice magic, which has him shielding his eyes and shrieking in pain as the ice rapidly cools his silver scales and staggers him. A couple of strange, round monsters like rocks split into three sections charge at Bahamut in an attempt to shoulder tackle his knees, and the last two wolf-like fiends wheel around and charge for Josuke when they realize there's 'easier' prey.
Josuke Higashikata It shouldn't take long for Josuke to get there, nor should it take him long to see what the problem is. He frowns, and prepares to make his way over to the travelers but... Suddenly a black speck -- which soon reveals itself to be a very large dragon -- comes down from the sky, creating a shockwave! "Whoa!" Josuke exclaims, wobbling. Now there's TWO dragons? There's so many 'monsters', and he's the only human not in that group of travelers! Though some of the 'monsters' are attacking each other, so maybe they're here to help instead of try to hurt the travelers?

If he had any doubts, hearing both of the dragons speak, in turn, drives most of the doubt out of his mind. It doesn't seem to know what the larger dragon is doing. Mindless monsters don't speak generally. So he's less concerned about the two dragons.

But those travelers! That's where his concern is now. Josuke makes a beeline for them as soon as he thinks he has an opening to do so! It's a reckless charge, so it seems, the young man running ahead without much heed to the fiends around him. Except suddenly the two wolf-like monsters charge in his direction. His first thought is ''`Good!´'' If they're concentrating on HIM, they're not concentrating on the family. Besides that, they'll soon find out the hard way that he's no easier prey.

"<''Crazy Diamond''!>"

It might be hard for the family to see. But the fiends will see it. And it's likely that Bahamut and Ryu will as well. A tall, muscular human figure, mostly pink in color but with silvery-blue armor (some of which is worked into the shape of hearts) appears at the young man's call. It suddenly presents the wolf-beings with a solid wall of arm and fist as it roars in a loud, ascending voice, "DORARARARARA!"
Bahamut      Bahamut sees Josuke moving toward the travellers and makes sure that any fiends which might go after either have to get past him. But, the blows to his legs by those monsters knocks him off his feet and he barely manages to avoid falling on the very people he is trying to protect. He roars as he gets back to his feet, then moakes a few arcane gestures. Energy coalesces around those rock-like creatures before an explosion of Flare engulfs them. One can just imagine 'OVERKILL' popping up above their heads.

With a roar of challenge he once again places himself between the humans and the fiends. "You must go through me first!" he bellows in his deep, gravelly voice!
Ryu     A shine of light floats around Ryu as well, but then he opens his mouth and emits a huge blast of white 'fire' that engulfs the two strange elemental beings. When the fire clears, all that's left is the pyreflies. Ryu makes a sort 'brrp' noise, and flames curl from his closing mouth. His long ears flit and his head turns to observe their surroundings. The fiends have been cleared out, the two wolf-like finds shattering under the wall of fists into a swarm of pyreflies that flit off and disappear.

"Thanks," he says to the others, his wings folding on his back as he stands to his full height. He begins to walk over to the family, who looks exhausted, and emotionally distraught. Death is a very real threat for travel in Spira, after all, and they don't cry for their fallen. But Ryu approaches and reaches out with one of his hands, and cups the cold cheek of the fallen. He just says this...

    "Give me a moment."

He begins to glow with intense magical light. Pyreflies start to get attracted to him, flitting around his body in an odd formation. Whatever he's doing, it's taking a while and it's exciting the strange fire-like ethereal fragments.
Josuke Higashikata Josuke can see that the larger of the two dragons is trying to help, even with the rock monster impacting the legs of said larger dragon. He breathes a sigh of relief as the fiends disappear -- it's weird, but that apparently is how monsters die here. Clearly they're not natural... some kind of spirit monster? Either way, Josuke looks to Bahamut with a broad smile. "Thanks!" he offers, with a thumbs-up. He also looks to Ryu, with a nod. "Glad to help!" he replies brightly.

Once the fiends are out of the way, he too heads for the travelers. Here his smile starts to fall. He gives a sad look to the dead traveler, remembering how he found out he couldn't bring the dead back to life. "...I'm sorry," he says quietly to the travelers. "I can't help him, I'm sorry... but I can help the rest of you, if any of you are hurt," he offers.

Though as Ryu reaches for the dead man Josuke blinks. He opens his mouth to speak... and then just closes it. The man's dead, isn't it too late? He wants to ask that. But he doesn't. Because he's HOPING. He's hoping that the silvery dragon can actually bring him back. He wouldn't have tried if he hadn't done it before, right? So for now he waits, holding his breath.
Bahamut      Bahamut keeps his eyes open for more fiends even as he watches Ryu. The actions of the pyreflies remind him of when the summoners would invoke their powers and suspects what Ryu is trying to do. The big dragon stands like a silent sentinel as he waits to see the results. Death is something the people of this world expect, but that doesn't mean they don't feel it when someone is killed. Especially a child. Bahamut even says a silent prayer to whatever Fayth might still exist, be they here or gone to the Farplane. Finally he speaks, but only to say, "May the power of the Fayth be with you."
Ryu     A surge of white light that can be seen for a mile, but doesn't hurt to look at. The pyreflies, which come to places of death and congregate as fiends, surge around Ryu in a storm of activity. He's doing something that people in this world aren't normally capable of. The soul of this person, who hasn't been Sent yet, flows back to its source as pyreflies collect along the invisible force down Ryu's arm and back into the young male's body. There's a loud, strange noise like a crystalline structure experiencing intense pressure, and then cracking, and the magic disappears and the pyreflies scatter in all directions as the spell completes.

Ryu pulls his hand away, and the dead boy breathes a new breath of air, eyes snapping open and hand grasping desperately at the family member that was clutching him. His wounds are just gone, and he begins loudly sobbing, both in joy and terror, because being brought back from actual death is not a fun experience, but he's alive.

Then Ryu steps over to some grass and sits down, legs sprawled, hands between them and flattened on the grass. His chest rises and falls, and his eyes close. He looks exhausted. He also looks wounded. He's got several ice burns.

"Where did I drop my bag...?" he wonders, his voice mixed with a bit of pain and fatigue for obvious reasons.
Josuke Higashikata Josuke makes to turn his head when the light surges, but stops when he realizes it isn't hurting him. Instead he just... watches. Watches as the pyreflies (gosh, they're really pretty) gather around Ryu. Watches as this miracle takes place. He is shocked, frightened, honestly so -- that sort of divine fear when miracles happen.

It takes him a moment to shake himself out of the shock, and when he does, he notices that the smaller dragon is burned. Mentally giving himself a shake, he stands and heads over to where Ryu's sat down. "You need some help?" he asks. "I can heal you."

And then a look to Bahamut. "What about you? I noticed you got bowled over; are you okay?" he asks. His voice is quiet; he's not really sure what to make of all this.
Bahamut      Bahamut has never seen death reversed so completely, and he rumbles in a bit of amazement himself once the spell is finished. He stays with the family for now, but looks over at Ryu as he goes to take a rest. Josuke's question draws a small chuckle from Bahamut. "I will be fine. It takes much more than that to harm me." he says, then nods his head in a sign of respect to the pair. "Thank you both for your assistance. Unfortunately I cannot be everywhere at once. I might have missed this near tragedy completely if not for the burst of energy you released." He stands tall again, the bows graciously. "I am Bahamut, King of Spiran Dragons and Aeon of Bevelle. It is an honor to meet two such capable guardians."
Ryu     Ryu lifts his head to look at Josuke. This close to him, Josuke can see that the silvery-white scales are a little iridescent in the sunlight, reflecting it like a gentle rainbow. The dragon's eyes are bright, metallic gold, without the sclera of other creatures. Ryu's horns curl like a ram's horns, and the dragon has a pair of long ears that extend out of the sides of his head. His short bestial snout shifts in a clearly friendly expression, corners of his mouth lifting and scaled brow lifting.

"Oh, yes, please," he replies, his tail wiggling and even his wings giving an excited shiver. He looks deeply pleased by the offer. "I could heal it myself, but it saves me the energy to have help," he explains, looking down at the ice burns from his wounds.

"I'm Ryu, just a dragon," he humbly answers Bahamut, "I was just here at the right time. I'm not a guardian." He doesn't know the local parlance, it seems. "I see other worlds with magic have monster problems, too," he mentions, his head turning as he stares out over the highlands, trying to spot any others lurking in the tall grass.

"Have you seen my satchel?" he wonders to Josuke, "I dropped it in my hurry." Judging by how fast he was moving... well, it could be anywhere in the highlands.
Josuke Higashikata Josuke nods to Bahamut's statement of almost having missed this. "Yeah, if I'd been further away, I might not have heard it either." Introductions happen then, and he offers a smile. "My name's Josuke Higashikata," he offers in return, to both of them. "Good to meet you. Sorry it couldn't have been under better circumstances. Though it could have been worse." Here he looks at Ryu, who prevented it from being worse! As for Bahamut's mention of 'guardians'? Josuke blinks. "I try to help where I can," he replies. He doesn't really know the meaning placed on the word 'guardian' here either.

Ryu confirms that he would like healing, and Josuke nods. The purple aura springs to life around the teenager, and the pink-and-blue figure reappears. "Hold still," he instructs mildly. The Stand will reach forward, as if trying to grasp hold of Ryu's shoulders. And then its hands glow with an orange-gold aura that will try to bleed over onto Ryu. If Ryu doesn't pull away -- and the damage isn't somehow kept from being healed -- then those wounds should start to close up, as if they were being 'unmade'.

After doing his best to heal Ryu, Josuke turns his attention to the mention of the satchel. "Uh... no, I don't think so. I came from town," he explains. "If you have any piece of it -- frayed threads maybe -- I might be able to locate it, though. If not, where were you when you dropped it?"
Bahamut      Bahamut nods to each in turn at their introductions and doesn't seem at all worried about their lack of royal or honorific status. "Ah, but you are." he says as Ryu says he is not a guardian. "In this world, it has become common to call any who are willing to put their lives at risk in defense of the innocent a guardian. Not so long ago, Guardians were the protectors of the summoners who defended our world from a great evil called Sin. And naturally both guardian and summoner defended the innocent. As summoners are no more, the title of guardian is readily used for protectors."

He then steps forward and grips Ryu's shoulder. "You have performed a great service today. This family would have lost their child forever had you not displayed your amazing gift. And the entire family might have been lost had the two of you not sprang to their defense. You are both welcome at the Temple of Bahamut in Bevelle. You will not need a map, as the ancient road of the Pilgrimage leads right to it. But for now, we should escort this family to their destination. There are sure to be more fiends, and without their chocobo they will be at the mercy of those monsters."
Ryu     Ryu smiles as he receives compliments about what he's done, and looks a little awkward as the moral weight of it is conveyed to him. It's clear by the way he reacts that he doesn't spare that much thought to it, which is fairly natural for people known for altruism.

The wounds all get repaired without a problem. Ryu looks pretty confused by the sensation, which feels like the pain is being reversed and that his wounds were just anti-wounding. He gives a little shiver of surprise from it, and then slowly stands up and breathes a sigh. He holds his hands out at his sides helplessly at Josuke and attempts a shrug.

"Sorry. I'll go find it later. Shouldn't be too hard to track down," he says, then he turns and spreads his wings, which shimmer and shiver for a second.

Then he floats up in the air, hovering a bit. He uses this to follow along, waiting for the others to lead the way. He motions to the family and then down the road with one hand, and smiles at them.

"Let's go. Maybe we'll find your birds, too, and fix them up. I saw a couple run off."
Josuke Higashikata Josuke blinks a bit at the explanation from Bahamut about guardians. "Oh, I see..." He gives a nervous chuckle, and rubs the back of his neck. "Well, I mean... it's not so bad if it's me that gets hurt -- I can fight back, so I don't mind it. It's not good if someone who can't fight back gets attacked, right?" That's his reasoning, at least. Though he straightens, and nods at the mention of escorting the people to town. "That's a good idea. We don't want anything else trying to eat them."

Once all Ryu's injuries look repaired, Josuke smiles broadly. "There we go," he notes. The shrug gets a slightly more sheepish smile. "I'm sorry. I'll help you look for it, though." And the mention of the birds? "Did you? Where'd they go? Man, those giant birds are so kewl. We don't have anything like them where I'm from."
