Nasrin     THE DESERT MOUNTAINS

NAsrin and Leila are familiar with the world here -- this was their home. The heat isn't as intense as it was by midday, but it's still quite warm. The group travels by some scrub brush and stunted trees as they set out.

Leila hands over a pair of long, thin scarves made of linen to Hina and Annie. "In case of a dust storm." she explains. You pull it up over your mouth and nose so you don't breathe in the sand."
Tatsuto Satou     Hina and Moonmon look about themselves in curiosity as they walk along. Neither of them has ever been to somewhere like this! It's fairly obvious.

She nods her head, taking the offered scarf and draping it around her neck. "I've seen people do that on TV," she confirms, with a nod. "We'll have to remember to bring them if we ever find a desert in the Digital World..." she muses.

"...So, um! Is this the sort of thing you two do for fun, then?"
Annie Sandberg      "Wait, so... it's going to snow in the desert?" Annie asked. "Now I'm not sure if there was even a right thing to wear for this," she notes. But she does at least take the offered scarf and put it on. Climate can be pretty confusing sometimes.
Nasrin     "In the upper mountains it can. It has snowed in Alamut before." NAsrin replies. "Higher elevations in the peaks that separate dessert from more temperate climes can often produce a dry, grainy snow I've found."

"Oh, no." Leila replies, "This is training. I do sewing, reading, I do a lot of studying for fun. It's a lot of hard work, but I don't mind. What about you? What do you do for fun, Hina? Annie?" she inquires, being all personable.
Tatsuto Satou     "This is -training-?!" exclaims Hina, feigning surprise. "I've been tricked!" She really hasn't, which is obvious by the way she promptly starts to giggle. "Mmh. What I do for fun? I do -this-!" she proclaims, digging out a gadget from her backpack and producing it enthusiastically. It's a black, clamshell device... it's a Nintendo 3DS. Let's just call it what it is.

"...And I play outside with my friends and stuff. And I like reading I -guess-. But videogames are the nectar of the gods. Or something."
Annie Sandberg      "Oh, I do a lot of things for fun," Annie answers Leila. "I like to play games a lot... I know all kinds of different games. I also like reading books," she explains. She looks with some interest at the 3DS. "Oh, I think I've seen one of those once! It's pretty old for me, though. One of those 'retro' things." She grins. "But it's cool!"
Nasrin     "Yes; any time we go out with Nasrin, it's training. Or character-building." Leila replies, to the amused snort of Nasrin. She walks backwards a few steps as she looks to the 3Ds, and her eyes light up.

"Videogames! We don't have those where I'm from, not for over a thousand years! ... well. Maybe not a thousand, but almost." she admits, embarrassed, "We're not allowed to play them. They're a distraction, and Nasrin says they rot your brain!"
Tatsuto Satou     "Hey, they fixed the brain-rotting problem four versions ago!" Hina complains, with a slight huff. "Anyway. Studies show that videogames can totally help develop critical thinking skills and hand-eye coordination, as well as stuff like reflexes and quick decision making." She nods her head.

"You can borrow it, if you like~" she says with a teasy tone. Possibly to Nasrin!
Annie Sandberg      "Some of the new model androids from my world come with video games built in, and hologram projectors and stuff," Annie says gleefully. "But so far I've only met one of those. His name is Andrew," she explains. "I hope you can meet him someday, but he's gone traveling around and I don't know where he is."
Nasrin     Leila's countence changes, and she drops back a step or two as Nasrin quickly moves. Her hand drops down, then comes up in a flash as something flies out from her fingers, sailing to the side of the mountain!

And there, humming as it comes to a rest, burried in an ancient root, splitting it cleanly in half.

"Training." Nasrin replies "Is what helps best with hand-eye and reflexes. The better you move, the better you can react, yes?" she inquires with a slight smile. The scar on her chin is plainly visible now that the skin's pulled up. She goes to retrieve the throwing knife from the root.

    Leila makes a nervous face.

"Nasrin was trained by several great Assassins. She's very, /very/ good at what she does." she euphemises, and rubs the back of her neck. "And so she sees that we're trained too."
Nasrin     Leila continues: "I would have liked to meet more children from the Union, but I'm... afraid that we'll be treated like..." she searches for the word, pausing her steps "... peasents? ... like backwards people."
Tatsuto Satou     In a moment, Moonmon has hopped up on top of Hina's head, eyes narrowed slightly... it's frankly adorable, rather than threatening. Oddly, light seems to be shining out from the seam of the closed videogame system, for a few moments, before fading away...

Hina places her hand on her heart and exhales. "Oh Jesus don't -do- that," she complains, pouting a little bit. Moonmon seems to settle down after a bit. "It's not as if -I'm- gonna grow up to be an assassin..."

"...Why would people treat you badly just 'cause of where you come from?" Hina asks, genuinely confused.
Annie Sandberg      Annie considers things. "Yeah... I'd guess that if you wanted to learn how to fight, training would be better than video games... even games about fighting," she says. "I guess some people might think that people from the past don't know as much, so they're not as smart. But that's not really true. There were a lot of really smart people in the past!"
Nasrin     "Archemedes, Sophecles, Avicenna, Sapho of Lesbos, The Mentor... all born before me!" Leila jokes easily, at home with the two other girls, "But we do not have computers, or plastics. We fight using swords and knives, and I lived in a /castle/. Now I ... still live in a castle, but it's newer. And fancy. And in Italy! ... but it's not Italy yet, I think it's still Rome and not Italy... history is weird when it hasn't happened yet." Leila gives a small laugh.

To Moonmon, Nasrin sheathes her blade, and then lets Hina catch up to her, before looking to the little digimon hanging out on the girl's head.

    And she leans in.

"I would not hurt her." she comments. And then stalks on. It's as close to an apology as one might get.
Tatsuto Satou     "...'Lesbos' sounds like slang for girls who like girls."

Hina continues on as if she said nothing peculier. "It doesn't matter where - or when - you come from, though. I mean... If you wanted to, you could import stuff from other worlds, right? Um. N-not that that means stuff from -your- world is worthless, or anything, just..." She waves her hand a bit. "We're all part of one big community now. Right? We're, like, all equal and should share with each other and junk."

Moonmon gives a little huff, then goes to settle in Hina's backpack again.
Annie Sandberg      "Yeah, I'm sure a lot of people have learned new things from the rest of the Multiverse," Annie says to Hina. "So... what are we going to do next?" she asks, looking toward Nasrin. "Since we're out here."
Nasrin     "It's an island in the Aegean archepelligo, in your time it's part of Greece." Nasrin replies. "And yes, the word 'lesbian' comes from it, because supposedly their society held men and women equally. Much like we do." Nas adds. "Well. I could have you start climbing rockfaces or leaping from boulder to boulder, or hand you weapons and critique your form, but you do not like combat." Nasrin stretches her arms a moment.

"This was not the trip I had envisioned."
Tatsuto Satou     "Aw, man, I've only had, like, one karate lesson, and that was two years ago. I'd -suck-." Hina giggles a bit. "I don't mind climbing, although my brother will hurt you if I get hurt. Somehow. I mean he's a total wimp but when he gets righteously angry..."

She giggles again. "Or we could race! I mean. I know that's not hard, but running is, like, the only athletic activity I don't utterly fail at."
Annie Sandberg      "Well, you brought a bunch of kids along," Annie says. "We should do... kid stuff!" She smiles. "Of some kind, anyway. A race could work! I run about human speed, so don't worry, it would be fair."
Nasrin     "I would win!" Leila boasts, "I'm faster than my Khopfi or Imal!"
Tatsuto Satou     Hina crosses her arms in deliberation. "...Yeah, probably. I'm kinda a nerd."
