Orchid      Perks of moving to Kahului include being in on the ground floor of what is going to be a booming economy, and the lovely tropical weather, even moreso when the breeze comes in off the sea. One of the downsides is the limited selection of beer available, but Orchid finds that to be a small price to pay. She's sitting under a canopy in her lot. The bit of land she bought with her saved up money. The loans will go towards building the shop she wants, a cargo container currently serving as where she keeps her stuff and can get inside.

Still, it's such a lovely afternoon, she's invited a few friends over to come and visit and chill.
Corona Arclite     "Pff. Worried 'bout selection? Though that's why ya invited me!," Corona replies with a chortle. "Ser'ously though. Iffen we need a few drinks Ah can always beam somethin' down." She pauses a moment to rub her fingers through her hair, then puts her hat back on and readjusts it. "Humidity's a li'l bit on the mucky side, but it ain't bad." She comes from a desert environment, that's not really unusual.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone had been talked into going into business with Orchid here in Kahului, she was very casually dressed tank top, shorts and sandals. "So much better than being on the coast right now at this time of year, rain or we're getting flash frozen." She notes as she moves to sit down and what's that she's carrying a small pack of beer with her. Likely from one of the many small brewers in the region. She also has shades pushed up on her forehead at the moment.

"So you talked me into this madness Orchid. I'm putting enough cash into this as I would a good shell."

She looks to Corona and grins "Well humans came from environments like this. We're just insane as we like to get everywhere."
Orchid      Orchid chuckles at Corona's offer. "To tell the truth," she says, taking a swig of her own beer, "I can't much tell the difference between the brands. Humidity is real, but we get some spectacular rainbows. And Kotone, thank you again. Say..." she pauses, wondering how to ask, then going into it. "How did you wind up in a shell? I know the local companies encourage augmentation, but..." she trails off, not wanting to say 'brain in a jar'
Corona Arclite "Can't tell the difference, huh? Though Ah s'ppose that makes sense, ya don't really need taste to process it do ya." Corona leans back to mock whisper to Kotone, "Maybe Ah shoulda brought her some of that Vodkano, see iffen she notices -that- difference." The fox smirks a bit after that remark. Kotone knows -exactly- what she's talking about.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "You could get involved in this too you know Corona." Kotone pauses for a mom ent at the mention of Vodkano for a moment with a look of horror on her face. She says nothing further on what Corona had to say. She seem to be moving to settle in and just freeze up at Orchid for a moment.

"You really want to know?" Ko get very quiet she's only told a few souls about, why she's a cyborg now...
Orchid      "I've got limited taste, but I also don't taste much difference between beer brands," Orchid says. Of course, this is also because she hasn't tasted much that wasn't the cheapest american beer. Turning to Kotone, she opens her mouth, then processes the tone. "Well, want? I'm not sure any more. If you don't feel comfortable talking about it," she offers, shifting into her 'therapist' tone.
Corona Arclite Corona Arclite pats Kotone's shoulder. "Don't worry, Ah didn't actually bring any of it. That stuff's hot enough even Koto burned her throat drinking it," she explains to Orchid. "Ah don't think it was..." Pause. "... Okay, maybe some of her reaction was to your question." She shrugs a little and sits down. Shop talk can come after Orchid has sated her curiousity about Kotone's origins, since she wasn't around for the last fiasco.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa opens one of her own beers and drinks about a third of the bottle before she'll speak again.

"Never planned to augment at all, I was what you would call a moderate anti cyberist who only saw the use of the technology for medical use." She takes another sip. "Japan's population has been crashing so hard they'd been trying to lure back people of Japanese descent to the country. I landed a scholarship to a tech school for Vehicle design and I was working for a courier company that hired non-agumenet and carried data on solid-state inactive media."

She looks to Orchid and Corona.

"I was carrying something valuable. During a traffic stop I was jumped by someone with some military spec argumentation and let me tell you the doctors were shocked I had brain activity still."

She looks up at the sky for a moment before she continues.

"Had a choice, likely die, or be in a bed or this. Given the company that hired the courier footed most of the bill..."
Orchid      Orchid winces. "Yeah, I can see how that... yeah." She shudders a little. "Getting all your choice taken away like that... I can agree with wanting to be mobile, but..." She's a little shaken, needing to process it.
Corona Arclite Corona Arclite leans back against the storage crate, tugging her stetson partway down over her face. Your typical cowboy reclining pose. "S'mtimes the only option is to accept somethin' ya don't like. Learn to live with it, instead of ... yeah." Well that sort of took a solemn turn for the moment. Sort of things the two should know about each other if they're going to be working together, though. "Ah don't enjoy shootin' people, but sometimes the only answer is removin' the cause of the problem."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "I was afraid to die to just .. go poof." She takes anothe swing of her beer and looks back to both of them. "I won't go into the gritty detials but I was a ball of self fear, loathing hate and quetioning if I was really Kotone Yamakawa." She note. "Didn't help Staren was one of the first people I met in the multiverse either on the subject when he caught wind of how I was feeling."
Orchid      Orchid pulls down the rest of her beer at the word of 'shooting people'. She's got her own emotional scars. "Learning to live with it takes some doing... and let me guess, you had started to adjust, when Staren made what he thought was a helpful offer." She knows the mad-scientist catboy's standard MO. "He tends to put his foot in his mouth easily."
Corona Arclite "Only his foot because both won't fit at the same time." Corona snorts from under her hat. "Kid means well, but he don't know when to slow down and take a point of view other than his own into account first."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "He didn't have the means to do that yet and he was trying to help, but I damn near ran back to the warp gate nad never came out of it again after that. Then again given the snakes he's with now? I can't fault him for being a lot more stead fast in his POV. So ya that's the reason big asshole of a power trip. It took me so long to adjust to it mostly the power of a body like my first one was a lot to get used to, I think the local hardware store had a box of mug and door handled they kept about just for selling to me."
Orchid      "I'm a professional communicator," Orchid replies to Corona. "Communication only works if you understand what the other person is likely to hear." She listens to Kotone's story, and nods. "That's actually one of the advantages of working with smaller, weaker drones, like I do." She reaches into the cooler, pulling out a soda. "Less chance of them breaking stuff, and easier to stop if I lose control, like the other day."
Corona Arclite "Aye." Corona holds up her flask in agreement. "Part the reason Hopalong's the only thin' Ah've made that can think for itself." She mmms softly. "The tinderboxes are easy to shut down iffen they start actin' up."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa leans back and looks to both of her friends for a moment. "I get that you pulled off things with Shirgue and her fleet I couldn't even dare to match. At the bottom of the food chain you see a lot of powerful people for what they really are." She tilts her head. "They'd burn everything people like me know and loves after soem damnass ideal that long dead."
Orchid      "... Theres a thought," Orchid says in reply to Corona, "I could make a reploid of my own some day." She opens the can with a hiss of escaping gasses. "As for power..." she shrugs. "I might seek power of my own, if for no other reason, because I trust myself with it." She chuckles, taking a sip of the soda.
Corona Arclite "It ain't the power, missy. It's what ya decide to do with it." Corona tips her hat up with one hand so she can chug down the end of her own flask. That's one. Of who knows how many she's got stashed away on her person. "So what kinda business are ya two settin' up, anyways? Seein' as rebuilding this place is gonna take pretty much everything to get back in shape, ya ain't short on options."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa looks "So fancy being a mother someday I'd like to but it would be complicated as heck for me at this point." She laughs sadly. "Not that I have given up on the idea if I find someone." She notes and then she looks to Corona for a moment.

"Going to shift my business of restoration and mechanical work here. Along with my custom orders. Dad's been getting antsy and wants to get back to overseeing the garage again. As for power maybe so, I'm also held accountable for my behaviour."
Orchid      "I was thinking there'd be a market for repairs and part replacement for mechanical life," Orchid explains to Corona. "Robots, cyborgs, etc. Basically, I'd like to be able to help those who have parts that aren't being made any more, so they don't have to resort to trying to scavange the parts they need from each other." Sip. "Kotone here has some skill with the more powerful parts of such systems, and I might be able to get some shoreline space later, if expanding into working on boats looks good."
Corona Arclite A short sigh comes from the fox. "Ah've lost 'nough family in my time, don't reckon motherhood's in the cards for me." The moment comes and goes though, because there's more interesting things to talk about. "Well, cybertronics ain't really my thing, but iffen ya need help gettin' raw materials or an extra wrench to engineer somethin' y'all know who to ask."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "Could be good work there and Corona you'd be a good mother but for the rest I'd be all right with you getting involved with this venture why not? The alliance wants to make this a multiveral port right?"
Orchid      Orchid nods. "With the expected refugees, I expect that a lot won't have access to whatever industries they came from. And if we have a big job, you'll be high on the phone tree." She chuckles, looking over at the cargo container. "We may also need some raw materials, but I do think I have most of the tools we'll need. I've even got that Chozo cooling system worked out."
