Alexis You know what sucks to have to deal with after a very intense field mission in a very crapsack elderitch monster filled world? Rainbow glitter vomit. Yeah, having to handle a nauseous Fairy type is colorful to say the least but not very pleasant. It took a few days to get her Sylveon back up to health and not excessively clinging to her, and even now Alexis was pretty sure she wasn't going to take the fae-fox back to that world any time soon.

But with the matter of ill monsters finally taken care of the Trainer has finally made time to come back to the Shrine and see if there's some training to be had before that big tournament that's going to be coming up some time in the future. Not with any particular kind of opponent in mind, just seeing what potential challenge there was to be had.
Cordelay Levail After too long without a good sparring match, Cordelay returns to the Shrine after hearing about a challenger seeking a sparring partner. Upon spotting Alexis she zeroes in on her and asks, "Are you the one I've heard is searching for someone to test your skills against? I am Cordelay Levail, and I would be more than happy to spar with you if you wish." She smiles brightly at the prospect of a challenge, sizing up her potential opponent with a gleam in her eyes
Alexis Pink Ponytail sways with the motion of her head as Alexis turns towards the voice, then cocks it to the side a bit with a smirk as she gives the source of the inquiry a once over. "Yeah? Name's Alexis. I'm usually looking for a challenge. Though-"

She pauses a moment to pull one of the red and white spheroids off her belt, and give the pokeball a spin on her finger type in much the same way an athlete might a basketball to show off. "But I'm not exactly the one you'd be fighting." Alexis lets the pokeball wobble off her finger, and flicks it with the heel of her palm to bounce off and hit the ground next to her. It bings as it opens and devulges a surge of energy that swirls upward and consolidates to form a bipedal cobalt and black form with a canine head bearing a striking similarity to a jackal. Just with some sort of dreadlocks behind the ears? Pokemon are odd when it comes to appearances. "Sanshou is the one needing the practice fighting something besides other Pokemon."

For her part the Lucario simply puts her forepaws together and bows towards Cordelay as one respectfully does before facing off.
Cordelay Levail Cordelay's eyes widen for a moment before curtseying respectfully to Sanshou and Alexis in return. "Pokemon, eh? This will be my first time with one as my primary opponent. Well then, let us begin!" The young woman draws her swords and settles into her fighting stance, presenting a narrow profile with both blades pointed toward the Lucario. Her smile betrays her excitement as her body tenses reflexively with the heat of imminent battle.
Alexis Alexis and Sanshou both glance sidelong at each other at 'primary opponent' but don't question it. "Well good time to learn a bit more about them then." Alexis took a few steps back so she wasn't in the immeadiate path of anything. "Never know what you might come across out there for monsters."

Sanshou stood back up, though her paws remained pressed together for a moment. She regarded Cordelay for a moment, then cocked a little grin on one side of her mouth as well. "I sense a strong spirit in this one." It's not -quite- speaking 'human', but communicating through the aura has a similar effect, and it's definately much more clear to understand than your typical Pokemon chatter. Her legs tense, ready, crouching a little for that extra oomph... And then she kicks off from her spot with such force that she's almost too fast to follow, the Lucario rushing Cordelay and thrusting a quick jab at her with the spike on the back of one of her paws, using it like a knuckleduster of sorts.
Cordelay Levail The high-speed strike surprises Cordelay just long enough to delay her parry, the spike driving into her arm as she abandons blocking in order to dodge the worst of it. "Not bad." She mutters quietly as she glances at the gash in her vambrace and the wound beneath it. "I was wondering what fighting a Pokemon would be like. This should be entertaining!" She launches into a charge of her own, throwing out the chain on one of her swords in an attempt to bind one of Sanshou's arms while the other blade aims for her neck in hopes of scoring an early decisive hit.

The grin on her face is that of one who thrives on battle, and her eyes are alight with joy. Cordelay is truly in her element now.
Alexis As the match gets under way Alexis idly grips her right hand around the opposite wrist, feeling the Mega Bracer beneath the sleeve of her jacket. She wasn't going to use it in a mere sparring match, but it was reminding herself why she was taking the time to work on bonding farther with her Lucario. Mega Evolution was a considerable boost in power, but it also was hard for a Pokemon to contain and control without a strong emotional support.

Fortunately Lucario was a Fighting type, so battle training was conveniently also the most effective way to work on that bonding.

Sanshou has fought creatures using vines and tentacles and even tongues like whips, but an actual honest-to-goodness chain is a bit new. And it's while she's trying to shake her arm loose that Cordelay comes lunging with her blade, and the Lucario barely has the split second to turn her head and neck out of the way, the strike slicing into and across her shoulder instead. It digs deep, but at the same time Cordelay would likely find more resistance than she anticipated as Lucario's organic metal fur functions as a layer of armor of sorts.

Despite the heavy blow Alexis also smirks a bit, because they have the means of dealing with this. "Sanshou... Counter!"

With the quick reflexes one would expect of a martial artist the Lucario aims to grab onto Cordelay while she's still withdrawing from her attack, and force the woman down while bringing one of her knees up hard into her center of mass, before twisting to throw her away from her personal space again.
Cordelay Levail Cordelay hisses with annoyance as Sanshou grabs her, the hiss giving way to a grunt of pain as that knee strike slams hard into her stomach and sends her flying backward before landing with a hard thud. She gasps for air as she rises to her feet, her expression a mask of determination as she readies both her short swords again.

The charge that follows is just as quick as her first despite her injuries, but this time she doesn't bother with the chain. Instead she stops just within melee range and thrusts her swords out in a flurry of stabs, trading power for speed in an attempt to overwhelm the Lucario's defenses.
Alexis Enough daydreaming, Alexis puts her focus fully back on the fight, clenching her own fists even though it's entirely unecessary. "Use your bone!" A weird command to hear.. and mayhaps even weirder to see how it's followed. Sanshou takes a step back and puts her clenched paws together. There's a flash of aura energy between them, and then as she pulls them apart the energy condenses into a solid form filling the length between them until it's nearly six feet long and the ends form the knobby caps typically seen on 'cartoon' bones.

The bone-like construct is used much as one would a bo-staff, quick jerks and twists in combination with hopping steps to help in deflecting the series of rapid stabs. It's not a perfect defense but the strategic maneuvering does mitigate the assault some, Sanshou only taking a number of cuts to her arms instead of getting stabbed repeadly to her torso.

She may not be the one directly fighting but Alexis was totally in this, aside her pokemon in spirit as much as direction. "Now show her what some good breeding can do!"

As she pulls back with the final blow between bone staff and swords Sanshou hops to the opposite foot and pivots on it, swinging her entire body around. As she does so her other leg comes up and out, using the momentum to put more driving force into a roundhouse kick. That on top of her foot -bursts into flames-.

Not chi or something martial arts like that. Actual, literal, potentially burn inducing fire. All being swung right at the young warrior hard and fast.
Cordelay Levail The flaming kick catches Cordelay in the shoulder as she twists away from it, managing to avoid the blow connecting squarely with her chest. She reels backward for a moment before rolling back to smother the flames from her battle-dress catching fire. "Your techniques are quite impressive." She states as she rises to her feet. "But I'm afraid I'm not finished quite yet!"

Her eyes blaze with determination as hot as Sanshou's flaming kick as she rushes forward for a third time. This time, however, she vaults into the air before actually reaching her target, looping both sword-chains around the Pokemon's neck and pulling them taut as she lands behind her, a grim smile forming on her lips.
Alexis Alexis actually chuckles softly as Cordelay actually stops, drops and rolls to put out the flames before it can burn her too badly. "Smart move!" she even calls out. "You'd be surprised how many people don't think about something like that in the heat of battle." Pause. "Pun intended. Heh. Be ready Sanshou, she's still got plenty of fight in her!"

"Excellent... as do I!" retorts the Lucario as she twirls her bone bo-staff in her paws and drops back into another ready stance. She's watching the other combatant's every move as Cordelay charges her, only to leap into the air... Far enough that only those chains would be able to reach her to attack. There's a sparkle in Sanshou's eyes as she realizes and focuses on that, grabbing her staff in both paws and holding it up as the chains do indeed lash out and snare around the construct instead. Cordelay's landing and following yank still pulls up and back hard, but she might not notice that the chains didn't get around the Lucario's neck until they just fall away as Sanshou dismisses the bone staff and clatter to the ground.

And in those split seconds Sanshou spins around on her heels, recompressing that aura energy into a spherical shape between her paws as she does so, using the spinning motion to fling it towards Cordelay with speed and precision!
Cordelay Levail Cordelay grits her teeth as she feels the chains go slack, the bone staff they wrapped around vanishing. "You're quite clever yourself!" She replies. "Your orders and Sanshou's techniques make you a formidable duo to be sure!" As she pulls the chains back to herself, she turns and spots the aura sphere incoming. Whatever curse she was about to say vanishes as the attack slams into her and sends her sprawling once again.

She's obviously feeling her wounds as she forces herself to her feet once more, lunging in toward Sanshou and swinging one of her chains at the Lucario's legs. Hoping that her feint will be a good enough distraction, however, she lashes out at her opponent with her other sword - not a particularly devastating attack, just something to help her even the odds.
Alexis "Pokemon may be powerful, but this is the true strength of the bond between us," Alexis replies. "But it takes a hearty challenge to bring it out fully, and for that you deserve just as much respect." Again she clenched her own fists, then held one up and out in a dramatic fashion. "You're doing great Sanshou, keep it up!"

Between pulling off that impressive defense and counter, and the rallying cheer of her Trainer, Sanshou was riding the full high of combat rush now. The love of a challenge was something both Trainer and Pokemon shared, and Cordelay's strong opposition was bringing that out fully. She twists to sidestep the chain being slung at her legs, but the maneuver does exactly what Cordelay wanted it too and give her an opening. Plus Sanshou no longer has the bone-staff, so she can only quickly bring up an arm to try to deflect the strike, taking another nasty gash down the length of her arm in doing so, driving her skidding backwards from the force of partially intercepting the attack.

She makes an extra step back, but it's hardly a defensive posture she takes, gritting her expression in determination, ears high and attentive while her tail was low and ready to counterbalance. Alexis reconizes the stance, it's the Lucario's way without words to tell her she's ready. "Right then." Alexis makes a punching motion with one fist for effect as she commands, "Show her just how stroung your fighting spirit is!"

Sanshou clenches her paws into fists, erupting in glowing blue aura as she does so, as do her feet. There's almost an audible crack in the air as she bolts from her position and a swirl of dust behind her. In a matter of second she's lunging at Cordelay, forgoing defense to launch a torrential combo of punch and kicks in rapid succession at the other warrior, the embodiment of her fighting spirit around her limbs leaving arcs of glowing energy in the air in their wake.
Cordelay Levail The glowing aura is an impressive sight to be sure, but as Sanshou lunges at her Cordelay can't help but smile to herself. Perhaps it's adrenaline, perhaps it's her finely-honed combat senses, perhaps it's a combination of both as she matches each punch and kick with her twin blades, deflecting and dodging the devastating blows with perfect precision. Every one skims past her, a hair's breadth from dealing crushing damage, but the dance of aura, flesh and steel ends with Cordelay unscathed.

"You both make for wonderful rivals." She breathes, exulting in the rush of battle. "I've fought many different warriors of the Multiverse, but this battle is unlike any I've ever had. In honor of your skill and your spirit..."

Cordelay steps in closer to Sanshou once her barrage is finished, attempting to drive both blades into the Lucario's chest. "...I will show you what the Dragon's daughter is capable of!"
Alexis In all her experiences in the multiverse Alexis has seen people and monsters take the beating a pokemon can dish out... but she has never seen anyone match both the speed and intensity of a Lucario like that and -block- the attacks blow for blow. She is left staring, too lost at the outcome for the moment to compose a practical response to order her pokemon.

It's clear that unbridled assault has taken its toll on the Lucario as well, when they're finally forced apart from the assault she's panting hard to catch her breath. Not to mention probably even more stunned at the display of defensive prowess on Cordelay's part. "You are.. most formidable.. of dragons," she manages between pants, acknowledging both her opponent's strength and hertiage claim.

Sanshou tries to grab Cordelay's arms as she makes her double lunging thrust, but even if she can get a grip she doesn't have the strength to hold her back longer than a few seconds to make the moment more dramatically tense. Before her remaining strength wans, her grasp slips and the twin swords plunge deep despite the armor-like nature of her metallic pelt. "Luuuuu..." It's a devestating blow, and if it wasn't for that additional durablity of being part Steel type she probably would not be recoiling from the attack in one piece. Even as is she immeadiately drops to one knee in exhaustion, both arms wrapped tight against the finishing wounds. At least until the Shrine reconizes the match as being over and resets in a thankful reminder this was, despite the realism of the blows, only a simulation.

"HOLY SHIT!" Alexis finally manages to get the exclaimation out of her throat. "Damn girl, I have not ever in my time seen anyone repeatedly, on the nose BLOCK that assault." Giving credit where credit is due.
Cordelay Levail Cordelay breathes deeply, letting her body calm down from the massive adrenaline rush that was that fight. "I'm honestly somewhat surprised myself." She admits with a smile. "It felt like my body was moving before my mind could direct it. My battle instincts have never been triggered like that before - I have the two of you to thank for pushing me to my limits."

Her expression is so bright it's like looking into the sun. "I am honored to have faced you both in battle, and I sincerely hope this will be the beginning of a long friendship between us. Miss Alexis, Sanshou, thank you very much for this opportunity!" She curtseys respectfully, her joy practically written across her face.
Alexis There's still the lingering exhausted feeling of being wounded that badly, but once she's been physically restored Sanshou stands up, then folds her paws and bows to Cordelay once more. "I would say the same. You fight with as much passion as strength."

"Yeah, no kidding." Alexis jabbed a thumb over her shoulder faux dramatically. "I was standing back there and I could see it in your eyes." She's not one for formalities like bows and curtsys, so she waits for Cordelay to get back up before grabbing one hand and giving it a firm shake. "Hell ya, you're my kind of warrior woman."

"Who knows." After the handshake she lets go, and holds up her left arm to slide down her jacket sleeve with the other hand, letting Cordelay see the bracer she wears underneath. The Mega Bracer only bears one large gem, etched with what appears to be a DNA helix shaped like a flame. "Maybe after we've got better control of it, we'll let you figt her Mega Evolution." Sanshou nodded in agreement. A promise of a future rematch, you could say.
Cordelay Levail Cordelay's smile grows even brighter, if possible, as she returns Alexis's handshake and nods. "I will look forward to it with great anticipation. In the meantime, feel free to call on me if you have need of my strength - the Multiverse is full of danger, after all, and I would love for us to fight as allies someday as well."
