Link ORDON VILLAGE, NEAR FARON WOODS, HYRULE
DAYTIME

Ordon Village, the 'heart and soul' of the Ordon region, is a small village near the largest forest in Hyrule. Pumpkin patches, free-range chickens, and a large goat farm dot the land, with houses with reddish-purple conical roofs representing the living space of the people. Farmers work at their pumpkin patches, as a small river and pond flows through the village, culminating in a waterwheel attached to one of the buildings.

Moving through the chickens at your feet and the sounds of agriculture, the destination is a larger, spherical house in the middle of the village, with the same red conical roof. There's a small garden outside, with different flowers and vegetables distanced from each other. The destination is clear because of the young man standing outside the front door.

Link is dressed in his traditional green garb, sword on his back, and large bag below it. The blonde has striking blue eyes, and is currently chewing at some sort of sandwich, nodding to any who approach for the meetup to talk to the village elder about the prophecy and what's up with this world.

Opening the door, they enter the elder's house, which is...eclectic, to say the least. It's a one room house, with a large bed in the back, and various bookshelfs lined against the walls. There's also a goat in the middle of the house, currently munching at some veggies in a bowl. Sitting at a table near the window is an old man with a very thick white hippie beard, drinking what seems to be tea out of a cup and looking at the window. When people enter, he immediately turns and speaks.

"Ah, welcome to my humble abode. I am the Ordon elder, Maron. Please, tell me what you have come here for, and ask of me anything."
Riku "Well, this sure is... pastoral." Riku comments as he walks past the chickens and goat into the village. He doesn't comment further or cause any trouble, however, and moves along to where the person they're supposed to meet is. As he sees Link, he looks over the Hylian and pauses for a moment, giving him a measuring gaze.

"Hi." He says to Link, and steps in with the others, finding an open spot on the wall to lean on like the edgy teen boy he is. "Hi, name's Riku. I hear there's a problem with a King of Darkness around here." Yeah, he is one of those people who gets right to the point. "Do you know anything about it?"
Staren     Well, this sure is rural. ...Staren actually grew up in the rural area just outside Lazlo, though not on a farm himself, he's seen them many times on patrols and monster interventions. Farms of some form are needed by many societies.

Link gets a brief look-over and a nod, and anyone Staren's familiar with gets a nod before he enters.

Staren holds out a hand to the elder. "Staren Wiremu, Hand of the Concord. We're from other worlds, can you give us the rundown on what you need help with?"
Sanary Rondel This place brings back memories. Not specifically memories of this place, but memories nonetheless! Before entering the elder's home, Sanary has spent a few minutes chatting up the ranchers and watching them tend to their livestock.

Some of them might even get offers to buy some of the breeders. The lady needs to expand her portfolio once in a while!

Spotting Link, Riku, and Staren, she follows the trio into the elder's home proper and raises her hand briefly in a relaxed wave. "Hey there. Name's Sanary. Yeah, we heard that there's been some weird stuff going on lately. We might be able to help out with that."

She'll leave the question of rewards for another time.
Athela Valemore It did not take long for word of a new adventuring hero to spread, piking the curiousity of even those that were not available to respond to the original encounter. But as seeing new worlds and making new connections has become one of her personal ventures as much as it is a duty for the Watch Athela had come to see for herself.

She grew up on the coast rather than farmlands, but it was a similarly rural community so she can appreciate the quaintness.

That she rode in on a brown and green goat of her own doesn't hurt.

As she dismounts the Gogoat she leans him next to hut to graze on some idle grass, gives a polite nod to Link, and follows the others inside to meet the elder.

The elder man gets a more formal bow. "Athela Valemore, knight of the land of Bayern. I've come to learn more of this world and it's situation."
Rean Schwarzer Rean shows up not long after Sanary. It's not his first time in a rural place like this, and probably not his last. After all, he grew up in in a pretty rural place himself, just in the mountains and not in the woods. He enters the Elder's home, giving everyone inside a quick wave. He then turns to the Elder. "Rean schwarzer of Thors Military Academy. What's the problem you're having?"
Link While everyone says 'how can we help', Riku is straight to the point, which gets a nod from Maron. "Ah, so you've already been informed of the basics of Link's quest. Good, good. He confided in me what he has to do, and I'll share that with you. The King of Darkness...it's a very old prophecy, though the keys to it only begun to play a few centuries ago."

Maron takes a sip from his tea, looks to Link, and then to the others. "The King of Darkness is said to be the person who will conquer Hyrule, obtaining the Triforce, the ancient wish-granting artifact of the three Golden Goddesses, and use it to shape reality the way he wishes. He will possess great power over the forces of darkness, including many monsters at his disposal. The forces of evil that already plague the forest will give loyalty to him."

Maron coughs, wheezing, from all the speaking, and then sips some more tea. "But there's hope. A hero with great courage will fight him, slay him, and save Hyrule in the end. They will recover the eight broken fragments of the Triforce of Courage - ah that's right, there's three pieces of the Triforce, Wisdom, Power, and Courage - and use them to face Ganondorf. They will recover the ancient heroic sword, the Master Sword, and use it to deal the final blow."

Link looks up to Maron at this point, nodding. Maron speaks again. "And that hero is, as far as the regional spirit seems to believe anyways, is Link." Link tugs his collar, sheepish. "That's what I was told."

Though Maron sighs, wistfully. "But if only a quest could be that easy. What with the impending war, the local rebellion, the monsters attacking and killing good folk...heck, we lost our greatest warrior!"

And this only serves to make Link frown, sharply. It seems to have been someone close to him.

So, Maron just rubs the back of his head and speaks to the rest of the group, after another sip of tea. "So, tell me. What are you all good at? Perhaps you can help with some of the problems, aid Link, get things rolling."
Sanary Rondel Three goddesses, magical artifacts, and an evil king. A hero, eight pieces of one of the three artifacts... Now Sanary's head is starting to hurt. "So he needs eight pieces of one thing, two other.. No. Three other... Are the other Triforce things busted into pieces? Or the Sword? And..."

She lets out a frustrated noise, undoubtedly due to the confusion of how much stuff that needs to be gathered for Link's quest. She even starts counting on her fingers to try and figure it all out, but sighs after another few seconds before nodding at Maron. "... Yeah, I think we'll be able to help with stuff. Beating up monsters, pulling stuff outta dangerous places, the works. I can heal good, too, if you need someone to help with the injured."

The gears are already starting to turn, though, and Sanary adjusts her eyepatch briefly. "This Ganondorf, though... Is he already running around? Do his followers have a base of operations somewhere? Somewhere to... You know. Get intel on."

Or negotiate with. Either or.
Riku The elder gets right to the info dump. Riku can appreciate this. He nods to Sanary, a familiar face in the group, and listens carefully. "All right. So he hasn't arrived yet, but /will/ soon. In the meantime, we have to find the pieces of this Triforce of Courage, use them to get the magical sword that can beat the King, and take him out."

He pushes off the wall and looks to Link, examining him again more carefully. "Huh. Looks like you've got your work cut out for you. Got any experience in adventuring?"

There's a pause as Maron continues. "Impending war with who? And which monsters? Do you know where they're coming from?" He smiles a little. "I like to think I can solve monster problems. Among other things."
Staren     "So, Ganondorf can't use the Triforce until it's put back together, and /Link's/ going to put it back together... Just saying, is it maybe already in a condition that's harder for Ganondorf to use?" Staren points out.

"What I'm good at..." Staren starts pacing. "I travel the multiverse looking for... unique tools, that can be understood and exploited. Magic, technology. The power to solve problems and help people. Weapons to kill monsters. Constructors to build and rebuild, and supply food and clothing. Healing machines that cure the sick, the maimed, and the aged. Mechanical soldiers to defend and protect. Armor that increases the strength of its wearer. Resurrection machines -- although they cannot bring back the long-dead, and work best if the patient is implanted with something before their death."

Staren shrugs. "All manner of tools to solve problems. Thus I ask, what do you need?"

"She raises a good point. What's Ganondorf doing now? Does he have an army yet? How big is it? How does he support its logistics, or is his army composed of magical automatons that don't need food or rest?"
Athela Valemore The prophecy as it's explained makes Athela flinch just briefly. Mostly out of surprise at how again she seems to have walked into a world with problems of a sort she is.... not unfamiliar with. The mention of a magic sword to slay the fiendish source of the evil has her reaching to grip of her own weapon.

"It would seem we tread some common ground," she murmurs, mostly in Link's direction. "A fight against a looming darkness seeking corruption and entropy. To shine light upon a dark path others are lost to."

Crimson locks swish a bit as she shakes her head a little, recomposing herself. Though she did somewhat already answer the 'what do you do' query, if not the most direct way.

"I am a knight of divine guardians known as the Swords of Justice. The war against such cruel threats is our purpose and duty, no matter what world is emperiled by it." There is an 'audible sheen' effect as she draws Resolute Blade, holding the peculiar glaive-like sword by it's elongated hilt. "Mine own magic sword may not be the one to slay your demon, but to help find yours and slay the demonic king I shall gladly bear it upon your foes."

Staren getting all sciency on the matter mostly goes over her head. Though she grasps the tactical part on determining how much support and size he may have backing him.
Rean Schwarzer Legendary swords, wish-granting artifacts...It was like something out of a fairy tale. But, apparently it was real, and Link was the one who would save the world.

"I can help with monster hunting." Rean says. "I've done a few tasks like that as part of my studies." He puts a hand to his chin, listening to Maron continue. Something the Elder's comment about their greatest warrior dying seemed to be bothering link, and so Rean filed that away in his head for later. "If there's anything else that needs doing in the villiage, I guess I can help witrh that too."
Link As Sanary has trouble, Link corrects her. "Eight pieces of the Triforce of Courage. One Master Sword. Two other pieces of the Triforce, held by others, which we don't need to collect." Maron, meanwhile, laughs brightly as everyone brings up Ganondorf. "Ah, it seems Link already told you who the King of Darkness must be! Yes, Ganondorf, King of the Gerudo, is the only possible suspect. He leads monsters to invade Hyrule, trying to take our land and resources. He rules the desert to the southwest, and the all-female race of the Gerudo. He has yet to truly start a war with Hyrule, but it may begin any day now. The worst part is, according to rumor, he already possesses the Triforce of Power, which he uses to create monsters to fight for him."

Staren's concern gets a nod from Maron. "While we could avoid the Triforce of Courage, there's two reasons not to. Firstly, that would be to avoid the prophecy - and avoiding the prophecy where we win may make things worse. Second, it's almost certain that Ganondorf will find the Triforce of Courage fragments if Link doesn't...so having it is more beneficial for Link."

Regarding the army and size, Maron shrugs. "I'm just a village elder. He has an army, but I don't know how he handles it or how big it is. I do know what the next step of the prophecy is, however. You must venture to the lands of the three ancient people - the Koroks of the Great Deku Tree, the Gorons of Death Mountain, and the Zora of Zora's Domain - and retrieve tools set aside for the Hero of prophecy. Ordona has already given us a scale of light, something you can use to prove that you're in her good graces and speak the truth."

Before Maron forgets, he decides to respond to Riku. "While the monsters pervade all of Hyrule, Faron Woods has a big issue with them...and you'll have to traverse through it to reach the Koroks, who I recommend approaching first due to distance."
Athela Valemore It's simply held in Athela's hand, but Resolute Blade shimmers faint but noticably as the conversation continues. The young knight knods to herself at this, and resheaths the glimmering blade. Keldeo bid her to seek out other worlds needing aid, and at least to her the sword's passive response is his approval of her assisting these people.

"Then monster fighting it is, to make open destinies path." She smirks just a little, knowingly.

The enemy won't be the only one with a few monsters on their side.
Rean Schwarzer So the next step was basically a bunch of diplomacy missions...and a trek trough monster infested woods. Nothing new there, really. Rean nods. "Sounds good. Anything we should know about the Koroks?"
Staren     Staren nods a bit. "Alright. I suppose we'll need to speak with Hyrule's generals and military intelligence officers as well." Then sighs at the mention of monsters. "We can deal with monsters." Staren taps his hand on his holstered laser pistol. "Wait, how does he control the monsters? No, right, something you don't know. Still, something to consider -- maybe the monsters can be reasoned with, bargained with, instead of only slain. ...So, what are these tools? And does Ganondorf know the prophecy as well?"
Riku "Well, that's a lot of problems." Riku comments offhandedly. "Looks like we're going to have to work extra hard to solve them." He still seems to exude that cocky teen demeanor so far.

He nods then as more things are explained. "All right. We'll visit the Koroks. Maybe we can spend some time making the forest safer for your people in the meantime." He casts a look over the others present. "Looks like we have enough people willing to put some monsters back in the holes they crawl out of."
Sanary Rondel "Eight... Oh, okay. So we only need to get ten things! And..." Sanary starts doing mental math as Maron goes into more detail about the other tasks Link faces. She's sweating a bit, but it's probably just the air from so many people in this one location.

Definitely not anything else. "Ten... And visiting three places that might have more things. Alright. Sounds easy enough!" SShe laughs confidently, moving over to clap Link on the shoulder lightly. "We got this, guy. These Koroks and their G-"

More sweating. It's hot in here. "Great... Deku Tree. Uh. Is there anything we should bring to... I dunno. Make it healthier and bigger? Do monsters go near it?"
Link Link is actually the one to respond to Staren. "I've never met a monster who will negotiate." Maron nods, continuing the thought for the perennially quiet blonde. "It's /possible/ that there may be some exceptions, but as a group, they tend to be, well, monstrous!" A pause and a thought. "Ganondorf knows about the prophecy if he's at all learned, but is extremely unlikely to know about Link's involvement. The tools, I'm unsure of, only that they're ancient weapons and gadgets once used by the previous Hero, and guarded by the three races."

Rean asks about the Koroks. Maron strokes his beard. "They're a harmless race of wooden leaf-like creatures, who keep to themselves generally. They live in the Great Deku Tree, which is said to be somewhere deep in the Lost Woods, a foggy forest where you can get lost forever. According to the stories passed down, the Great Deku Tree has great wisdom - much more than I do, and so, talking to him may be able to provide you more of the history and goal than I can give."

Maron actually stands up from his chair at this, heading over to a bookshelf slowly. He rummages through it, before pulling out a regional map and moving back to the table, placing it on there. It's a map of the Ordona region, as well as the Faron Woods. There's just a massive space in the woods covered with a descriptor for fog, noting 'REAL SIZE UNKNOWN' nearby.

Tapping at the map, Maron continues. "This is the entrance to the Lost Woods. You'll have to head through Faron, deal with some monsters, and then head into the Lost Woods proper. I know nothing about what you might find in there, so I can only suggest caution."

Regarding the Great Deku Tree, Maron squints at Sanary. "I don't know if monsters go near it, but the fact that the Koroks still live when they're not warriors indicates to me that they don't. And I've heard it's pretty big already, hahaha!

"Any further questions?"
Athela Valemore As Maron spreads out the map Athela steps closer to look. The Forest is plain enough, but the fact that the Lost Woods are accurately undeterminable in size or contents just gets her to shake her head a little. "No matter. If it is where we must go we must go... And hope that while he likely knows of the prophecy Ganondorf does not know who it implicates as the hero of destiny. Though a group of adventurers is going to eventually draw attention regardless."
Staren     "If monsters don't negotiate, how is Ganondorf leading an army of them?" Staren points out, again. "If they're mindless creatures, perhaps they can be controlled. Raise an army of our own and deprive him of his in one fell swoop!"

He sighs. "There are all manner of reasons the koroks might survive." Staren adds with a deadpan, "Maybe the monsters are carnivores."
Link "Because he has a Triforce piece, you dolt!" Maron laughs as he says it, not actually meaning it hostilely, but it seems that the elder just thinks 'well, the guy has the Triforce of Power, I could believe anything really'. Link, meanwhile, shakes his head to Staren. "We can't lead the monsters. I...can't." It seems that he has a real problem with them, to the point of not wanting to lead an army of horrible things. It's probably personal.
Riku "Feel free to see if you can figure out how to take over the army of darkness." Riku asides to Staren. "In the meantime, as long as they're hurting people, I'm going to make sure they stop."

He looks back to Link. "All right, so we need to get you set up to play your part in the prophecy. Seems simple enough." He looks over at the map, frowns for a moment. He pulls out a smartphone and positions it over the map, taking a picture of it with a click, then puts the phone away. "Just for reference." He says offhandedly. Then he's hunching over the map, checking it intently. "... This is a lot of ground to cover." He says, glancing at the land. "All right." He straightens and looks to the others. "We'll make this work. In the mean time we can see what the other races have to say about this prophecy and the Triforce."

A pause. "So Ganondorf already has the Triforce of Power? And the only way to get it away from him is to go wit hthe prophecy?"
Link Maron is, in the end, an old village hippie, so he believes in prophecies, clearly. "If the prophecy is believed, that's what you have to do. The Triforce of Wisdom is guarded by the Royal Family, so that should be safe! Unless, of course, he conquers them, but that's what you're all going to stop, right?"
Staren     Staren blinks. "Ah, so the /pieces/ of the wish-granting artifact themselves have power? And We're not just reassembling the Triforce of Courage to keep it out of Ganondorf's hands, but to /use/ it! Still; the mechanism of monster control might be replicable, or at least possible to interfere with." He pats the old man on the shoulder. "Don't call people dolts just because they don't know about what the pieces of the Triforce can do." He looks to the others. "Yes. We learned some things here, the other folks might know things too, that if we put them /together/... Like a Triforce of Knowledge. Slightly useful on its own, but even moreso when the pieces are put together. You know?"
Sanary Rondel "Huh. Yeah, if we can use the power of that thing to take away Ganondorf's power, then that could solve the monster army problem." Sanary concurs with a low hum, the implications of having their own monster army not lost on her.

It's actually pretty appealing. "Or even... I dunno. Shove them into weapons to wipe 'em out, depending on what makes more sense once we're doin' it."
Athela Valemore "If it can take power out of his hands... But it may be simpler just to slay any creatures that get in our way." Athela shrugs a little. "I have my own monsters to control already, after all."
Rean Schwarzer Rean shakes his head. "I think that covers everything, at least on my end. Should we get started?" He asks, adressign the rest of the group.
Link Since everyone seems to be agreed on a plan, Maron closes up the map after blinking at Riku taking pictures, and then puts the roll away. "Well, it seems like you're all decided. If you can do it...well, I'm sure the people will remember you. Good luck, young'ins."

And once everyone leaves, Link will plan when they'll go, which isn't immediate because he has things to do. But the mission is set: into the Lost Woods, the mysterious forest where anything could happen, to find the Koroks.
