Cu Chulainn The live show begins with a brief showing of our two commentators - the blue-haired Cu Chulainn, Heroic Spirit, and his darkish-purple haired partner, Felt Haddask. The two greet the camera with a grin, as they introduce themselves, starting with Felt. "Hey there. We'll be your commentators for this show, I'm Felt Haddask, and this is-"

"The Child of Light, the Hound of Culann, the Hero of Ulster, your one and only, Cu Chulainn!" He grins with sharp canines jutting out, giving him a fangy smile.

"You're not on show here tonight, Cu. He's too busy to compete, you see."

Cu frowns, before jutting a thumb up, and the camera pans to the stadium.

"Well, then I'll be the winner of all the commentators! To break in one of our first fights, that's how I'll show us off. Let me introduce our fighters..."

The camera pans over them, as they're introduced. "Our first is the General of Garlemald, the slick swordsman, a real prince, ladies and gentlemen, ZENOS YAE GALVUS!"

The crowd goes wild, before it pans over to the next.

"And then we have...that kid who doesn't die, because he's a vampire! His sword talks before it kills you! He's really cool, I've met him in personnnn, TOUTA KONOE!" It's said with such enthusiasm and genuinity that it's likely Cu's just rolling with it to tease the kid.

"These two skilled competitors will duke it out...now!"
Zenos yae Galvus Zenos moves from one side of the Arena, walking slowly and methodically towards the center.  The armor of the Garlean, dark against the lights of the arena as he finally stopped.  The Crowds cheering for him, but he seemed little bothered.  The helmet was not on so that people could see his face.  A /very/ handsome man, with a strange pearl in his forehead.  Long blond hair hangs on either side of his fair visage.  However, his face remains impassive, looking rather towards his opponent.

"I do hope you are strong, I would hate to think my first match would be a disappointment," He says, calmly towards Touta.  The helmet slowly is moved to his head, as he shifts his stance.  A hand moving towards what might be considered a golf caddy on his side, but inside it holds three swords.  His hand slowly moving to the hilt of one of the blades as he leans forward getting into a ready stance.

He waits for the match to be called, like a loaded spring.
Touta Konoe      OH WAIT IT WAS TODAY?!?! The young man had completely forgotten honestly. Or rather he had gotten so caught with his last fight with Sarracenia only a few hours prior that he completely forgot. It's only upon the announcements does he realize that he might actually get disqualified for not showing up on time. But it looks like he gets there just as Cu starts his announcements.

Unlike Zenos' graceful approach, Touta comes running through the arena entrance. His approach is modest if not somewhat silly. A young man looking to be no older than his early teens approaches from the opposite side of the arena from Zenos. His attire nearly all black, even the blade resting on his shoulder unsheathed was black as night. Yet while he wore such dark colors his personality seemed entirely bright. He comes into the arena eagerly waving to the crowds surprised if anyone was even bothering to cheer for him. He even gives a bit of a smirk to Cu as he tries messing with him a bit. But once Zenos starts raising his attention towards the young man, he directs his gaze towards his opponent.

"Guess you're about to find out, huh?"

The boy readies his own stance as well, his blade slowly coming off his shoulder as he lowered his own stance awaiting for Cu to announce the commencement of the fight."
Cu Chulainn "Looks like our two competitors are both geared up and ready to go. So without further ado..." Cu Chulainn grabs the mic and shouts into it, with real cheer in his voice, and in the crowd towards both competitors.

"FIGHT!"
Touta Konoe      'FIGHT!'

"Here I come!" The words are spoken and Touta makes it a point to strike first blood against his opponent. The young boy kicks off the ground with a surprising amount of grace and technique. Not a single bit of dust kicks up in his footwork as he charges, a sign of no wasted motions from the start. Touta's blade is held at his waist as he brings it up into a swing upwards slash towards Zenos chest. It seems like a pretty basic attack but the match was only starting after all.
Zenos yae Galvus The blade slashes at Zenos, but at the same time, Zenos moves forward in a massive swing, going from hand on his hilt to extending the blade out and moving past Touta.  Touta's blade glances off of his armor and weapon.

However, in the exchange, Zenos had moved to slash across Touta's own chest with a powerful blow of his own, attempting to put the boy on the defensive from the beginning.  Slowly, he turns, regarding his opponent as the man watches, moving slowly towards him.

"It is not smart to announce when you are going to attack," he says, calmly.
Touta Konoe      Touta's blade only pierces the surface of Zenos' armor. Meanwhile his opponent's retaliation against Touta's ends up hitting the mark rather quick. The slash cuts into Touta's chest as red starts to stain the battlefield for the first time and the young man definitely feels it.

Zenos turns back over to Touta slowly, and the first thing he'd see is that the wounded boy had already gotten back into striking range of Zenos. "And you shouldn't leave your back to them!" Touta's blade is raised over his head and he brings it down swiftly to return the favor to Zenos.

The moment his blade swings down though a word will come to mind. 'Heavy'. Whether Zenos dodged, parried, or ended up taking the brunt of the next slash, the warrior would immediately recognize that the weight of the weapon his opponent was wielding was unproportional to its size. It was...An oddity.
Cu Chulainn "And the battle has begun!" Felt announces. "Touta Konoe has started it off with a steady slash at Zenos' chest! However, it glanced off Zenos' armor!" Cu follows up, oohing. "And Zenos is already digging in with that biting commentary. You know, Felt, I think announcing your attacks is a tried and true part of battle. What do you feel?"

"Well, I feel it's a tried and true part of getting yourself killed, too." Felt responds, before eyes widening at Zenos' rebound. "Zenos managed to counter-attack with a heavy sword slash! But he may have turned his back to Touta. Will this be a mistake?"
Zenos yae Galvus Zeno's blade catches Touta's own, and while the weight of the weapon was offset by a bit, he manages to hold the blade with a single hand and weapon with a little of a struggle.  Zenos appears to be far stronger than he lets on, and a great deal faster than he should be in all of that armor.

The clash ends, and the blade slashes down, though once more the blade manages to move his opponent's blade JUST ENOUGH to scrape more of that armor.  Zenos does not seem worried or concerned, as he vanishes.

Appearing behind Touta, he swings the blade in a wide arc, and a blade of light courses out from the swing in a MASSIVE cone in front of him, only growing larger the farther it was from him.  Should Touta get hit by this attack, he would feel himself become slower, muddled by the effects of the attack.

"You should reserve your concern for yourself, but let us see if you are worthy of my effort."
Touta Konoe      Touta's blade clashes but it seems that Zenos was no slouch when it came to physical strength. It surprises Touta somewhat considering it's been some time since he's seen someone handle that kind of weight besides himself, even amongst some of the others in the Multiverse.

Though what really catches him off guard is when he just appears in his blind spot from nowhere. He swings his wide-arcing strike, in an attempt to avoid it Touta leaps up to get over the swing of the blade but in doing so finds that his leg gets caught, and sliced off. That would come to bite him later more than likely but for now...

He had to focus. He had to try to get the momentum back in his favor. In the air Touta should have been somewhat more vulnerable. It was much more difficult to maneuver when bounded as such, but Touta would use that misconception to his advantage. In one move he would attempt to implement his strength and fall speed simultaneously as he increassed the weight of his blade once more in an attempt to slam his blade at Zenos before he'd have the time to follow up his strike.
Zenos yae Galvus Zenos' head snaps up as Touta attempts to use the most dangerous man in space to his advantage.  However, Touta had let Zenos know about the blade's property early.  This allows Zenos to guess accurately at what Touta would do and shifts his weight.

To Touta's credit, it isn't enough to completely escape the attack, but instead of attempting to parry the attack, he moves to escape its impact.  Instead of a direct hit, the force of the attack smashes into the General, knocking him back a bit.  Coming to a halt, Zenos' armor is a little worse for wear, but the cut was not as clean as Touta may have liked.

"Interesting, but there is a flaw in your style.  Can you find what that flaw is?  Though, my opinion of you has continued...a lesser man would have surrendered at losing a foot," he says, but was that a bit of a smirk behind the helmet?

With another flash, Zenos was on the other side of the arena.  However, between Touta and him was a single blade that dropped from the sky.  Around it, green ether swirled, as swords appeared in the four corners of the arena.  These ones started to glow with a lightning-like glow.

Then, without warning, the sword in the middle let lose a terrible gale, attempting to blow Touta into one of the blades glowing with electrical energy, aiming to blast him with a one-two combo of the elements.
Cu Chulainn As the fight continues, so does Cu. "Not a mistake at all, Felt! Zenos caught the blade on his own sword, what prowess! He's turning up the fancy stuff, with a real lightshow for the crowd and some more of those digs..."

And then Touta loses a leg. Cu actually slams down on the table, shouting excitedly. "Holy crap, he cut off his leg! Touta's lucky he can grow it back!"

Felt watches intently, scanning for play-by-play. "But it looks like Touta's not going to let that be it for him. EVen without a leg, he's falling through the air in an attempt to slash his opponent. What style! For such a young kid, he sure knows how to wield a sword." And then, waiting patiently to see how it turns out...

Felt continues as the audience cheers for both competitors, but Zenos' strange multiple sword usage gets gasps as the blades fall from the sky, glowing with lightning. "More swords from Zenos! Some blowing him back with wind, trying to knock him into others that are electrified! The field's his playpen now...can Touta escape it?"
Touta Konoe      Another opportunity lost. It wasn't that Touta doesn't realize the flaw of his attack. It's just he didn't think that his opponent would take the advantage to capitalize on it so quickly. His strike ends up missing only allowing for the force of his slash to buffer Zenos. Not many people could realize the trade off of power and speed his blade gave, because of it Touta had gotten a bit too accustomed. Though even in this losing situation...

"Hey don't count me out of this fight just yet will yeah. I'm still hanging on..." Literally. Even probably looked like a flamingo as he stand on but a single leg, and yet...He looked pretty damn balanced. Almost like he's had this happen more than once perhaps. Though as banter is continued amongst the two, Zenos continues pulling blades from out his- sky, the sky. Before he even can question it though he's already being blown back, even with his somewhat solid one-legged footing and in the next...

     "Uwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!"

The boy lets out a shout. It wasn't the blade he was blown into that really messed him up, it was the electricity that followed that left him with a bit of a tingling sensation.

It seemed if he was going to make a come-back he'd really have to start putting in a bit more force. So if that was the case... The dismembered leg flies from across the arena and reattaches itself to Touta, and before anyone can even make an announcement of it, it was his own turn to disappear into a blur. Passing the blade within the center of the ring he had made it to the other side where Zenos was and began releasing a volley of strikes. Though unlike the last few times it was an interesting combination of strength and speed intertwined. On the moment of impact the immense weight of his last few strikes struck at Zenos, and yet every time he pulled his blade back, it was as though he was swinging around a feather. It was at this point Touta was implementing a combination of his own of heavy strikes, and light movements in an attempt to return the favor to Zenos.
Zenos yae Galvus The barrage of blows was met with Zenos' blade, attempting to match the speed of the young man with his own impressive reflexes.  Each time the blade swings in, Zenos' sword moves to try and block the attack.  While Touta's overwhelming speed outpaced Zenos' own attempts to deflect, the fact that he blocked more than three-quarters of them was nothing to sneeze at.  Touta could tell too, he was using minimum movements to do this as well, perfectly controlling his sword arm.

The sword then would strike out, easy enough to avoid.  This time, however, Zenos was gone in another blur.  Appearing in the middle, with the other blades now gone.  The blade in his hand comes up charged up with energy and then comes back down in a massive strike.  Energy surges out in a massive explosion from him, as the ground itself cracks from the force of his blow.

Should Touta not get out of this one, his body would refuse to work properly, attempting to mess with his ability to swing and strike with his blade, while Zenos seemed more than ready to continue.

"Let us see if you can survive this...and then I will show you something more."
Touta Konoe      Strike after strike and clash after clash Zenos continues his keep pace with Touta's blade and still not get blown back by the weight of his blade. Only getting a quarter of his strikes in at best is just surprising to see, even if Zenos understands how his sword works he feels like there should have been more he could do.

Once more he breaks out of Touta's strik zone to claim the blade in the center of the arena, it takes a momentfor Touta to figure out where he had gone but just as he does it seems like Zenos was already charging another one of his magical attacks. Touta does what he can to dodge trying to stagger out of the way but this time he's caught by another magical blade slash into his chest once more. Curious enough the previous one had already vanished but this next one...It would linger much longer, and the look in his eyes made that apparent.

"Uggh, nice hi- ..." Touta's arms began to feel heavy as he lifted his blade. Like he had set the blade to it's highest setting, but he knew that wasn't the case. So what was... "Magical corruption...?" Perhaps that wasn't what he consider it but perhaps that magic had been strong enough that even the magic affecting his immortality was being impacted and even beginning to impair his fighting capability. In a sense, this was probably the most dangerous fight he'd been in for some time. At this point it could possibly mean his death if he made the wrong move.

"...Guess that'll just make me the same as everyone else." There's a smile on his face as he thinks those thoughts. He continues to grip his blade with both hands trying to steady himself as he attempted his next strike.

Toutawould have to try something different, using his speed he'd start trying to alternate his position, to try and keep Zenos from reading his moves before trying to land his next blow against him. He just hoped...Truly hoped he'd be able to hit him at all...
Cu Chulainn As the two blur back and forth, Cu's eyes track them, while Felt has trouble doing so. Cu keeps up the speed, especially excited (and the crowd roars) when Touta reattaches his leg, grabbing it from a distance.

"Wow, they're surging back and forth, blurring faster than I - well, actually, I can track them decently, but the audience can't! And as they trade blow to blow, Touta with his heavy strikes and Zenos with his precision and energy blasts, Touta's reattached his leg! Man, these two are neck and neck...but it looks like we're getting to the climax of the fight!"

Felt suddenly reacts at Touta slows down and speaks up. "It seems that energy blast had a negative effect on Touta! It's slowing him down, and in this final leg of the fight, that's risky! Touta's responding with alternating blows, but it's not enough! If Zenos can get a good enough hit in, he'll win!"
Zenos yae Galvus Zenos does not give up blows for free, though he takes certain fights less seriously than others.  In this case, he had not gone full burn from the get-go, rather taking a slow pace to the attack.  However, Touta had not been able to capitalize on this until now.  Zenos was focused on his next strike, and not where Touta was going to be this time.

This causes him to pay for that, but it was an exchange he was willing to pay for.  The blow finally breaks through his armor, staggering the Garlean and causing him to skid back quite a bit from the blow.  Blood trickling down from his chest and a piece of his mask ripped away revealing a single eye.

"Well then, very well.  Let us see if you can survive this art," he comments, calmly.  Though there was an excitement in his eyes.  The very thought of being challenged like this was a dream to him, and he was living it.  Life and death, strength against strength...pushing himself to the limit.  It was everything he dreamed of.

Three swords drop from the sky.  One colored in red aether, one colored in green aether, and one in blue and white aether.  Each one surges dangerously as they seem to be pouring energy into Zenos directly, his body starting to glow with overwhelming magical power.  Then each one releases a blast of their element.  Wind to try and knock Touta back, electrical energy to try and paralyze his form, and then the final sword, as fire surges through the blade and Zenos swings it in a massive arc, attempting to literally burn Touta away.

However, the art was not down, because then he leaps from across the arena, sword held at the ready as he attempts to CLEAVE through Touta, as the magical energy is released all at once in a massive explosion.
Touta Konoe      In the most dire of moments even when he feels all odds against, as his arms get heavy, his vision gets blurred he pushes everything he can to keep fighting. There's really so many people right now he doesn't want to disappoint and he finally after pushing and pushing he makes a breakthrough in the most literal sense as his blade finally pierces through Zenos' armor. It's at this point Touta's vision returns to him just enough to see where his slash had landed, the two of them can finally look eye to eye at each other without impairment. Just like Zenos, Touta's own eyes were alive in this moment. It was hard to tell if it was the same sort of excitement that Zenos himself was having but something was alight in the boys eyes.

Touta raises his sword in response to Zenos' declaration. It was a challenge to see if he would survive, then that challenge would be accepted...

The three blades rain down each with their element empowering Zenos with their power. The first being the wind. With the force of its gales it tried to push him back with the force of a hurricane, but with both of his feet attached his stance was solid. Touta found himself able to slowly but surely begin to close the distance as he continued moving towards Zenos. It was as though he was gripping the earth itself with clenched toes as one would clench a bull by the horns. The second blast does stop him though. A burst of electricity surges through his body and Touta finds himself now stuck in place. Once again he could feel his body giving out on him. Unfortunately this is where he would have to make his stand.

It's at this point Touta finds himself struggling to move at all, but he begins to raise his sword into the air. It's not in any comprehendable attack stance or not in a way that looks like he's about to swing it down. It just looks more like he's just struggling to point his blade towards the sky...But even if he could raise his sword, could he swing it down...

The last strike comes from Zenos himself. A sword that conjures the inferno. A blade that cleaves through Touta and then releases a hell fire explosion afterwards. The boy who had been wearing all black is now just black. The wound that Zeno had given him hadn't even bled out as it had been cauterized by the impact of the explosion the next instant. The boy's body was charred and the parts that weren't just looked as though Zenos had torn his flesh off....

     "500...thousand...Fold."

The carcass in front of Zenos speaks so softly that barely even he can hear him. Though this is what he was hoping for. This is what he needed to happen. This would be an attack that he would make sure Zenos would not escape from. Now that Zenos' blade was lodged within his body. His arm raising his blade to the sky wouldn't be able to swing down though...But it wouldn't need to. The weight of Touta's blade would end up being the sole driving force of his final attack. Using only gravity itself to bring down his blade, just like a guilotine upon Zenos. Truth be told, it wasn't as skillful of a finisher as Zenos', but it was all he could do left... So Touta let's the black blade swing down upon his captured foe for one final swing to try and end this....
Zenos yae Galvus Zenos connects with the blade, and with that, he was sure that would be the end of it.  Apparently, overconfidence blinded him from the possibility that someone would use their VERY BODY to hold his blade in. Even weakened as he was, the black sword of Touta goes up.  Zenos attempts to pull at the sword, thinking the battle won.

After all, it was like striking a corpse.  However, the blade was up, and too late he attempts to realize his mistake.  Letting go of the blade, he attempts to back up...and at that moment the sword comes down in a mighty blow and sends him flying to the other end of the arena.

With a mighty groan, the armor and blood is shed from his body, and with a mighty lean, he falls to a single knee, unable to continue the fight.  However, despite his injuries and despite the burning in his chest from the exhilaration of the exchange of steel, Zenos laughs despite himself.

"Glorious wonderous combat.  Oh, next time we shall do this outside the confines of this arena...and I shall not hold anything back!" he says, with a cough.  Finally, someone who could withstand more than a measure of his power.  What an exciting place this multiverse is.
Cu Chulainn "It's down to the wire. Zenos is unleashing his final attack, magical sword skills blending into wind, lightning, and fire, and then a massive explosive cleave. Will it be enough...?!" Cu announces, full of hype as he watches intently, and then -

Touta's still in the fight, just barely!

Cu literally jumps out of his seat, running up to the observer window. Felt sighs, but can't help his eyes being glued to the fight, trying to see what happens next. And then, Touta rises up despite looking like a carcass, and throws a finishing attack. Cu is up against the glass, pulling his mic towards him.

"He's...he's still moving! TOUTA'S STILL IN THE FIGHT! And he's throwing a finishing blow! He..."

As Touta pulls it off, the crowd goes wild, and so does Cu. "HE PULLED OUT A VICTORY AT THE LAST MOMENT! TOUTA KONOE IS THE WINNER!"

Felt actually moves up from his seat to pull Cu back, as the two readjust the mics and finish off, Felt speaking up. "That was an amazing starting fight. Two great combatants showing us what MECC is really about - good old fashion beating each other up, but with real skill. Thank you to both contestants, and we'll be seeing you both again in the rest of the pool. This is Felt Haddask..."

"And Cu Chulainn! Signing off."
Touta Konoe      In most cases Touta would be in quite the predicament after being struck by such lethal magical attacks. Such that even his own immortality would have trouble keeping up with. In fact, he was pretty sure he was about to die right there. It's likely more thanks to the Shrine than his own immortality that ends up pulling him back from the grasp of death, and even when he does. The moment he goes back from being char-skinned...He just falls onto his back. He's just exhausted. Even if he won, that battle was taxing both mentally and physically. He can't even really appreciate the moment. He's just exhausted in every sense of the word. It's only when Zenos speaks up to him that he even tries to find his voice again, clearly more tired and ready to call it quits than the swordsman opponent. Slowly raising his head he tries to give Zenos a smile.

"Awesome...I'll be looking forward to it...Just not anytime...Okay?" And with that he's going to plop his head right back into the dirt. He might be alive, but he hasn't felt this dead in a LOOOOONG time.
