Yomi Isayama Though she can still feel a bit of soreness from her last bout, Yomi appears to be ready to fight. She leaves her sword's carrying case off by the side and holds her weapon by the scabbard, slowly walking up toward the center of the arena. She gives a polite bow to her opponent, then drops back into a ready stance.

As soon as the start is signaled, the exorcist digs her feet into the ground and darts forward. Instead of moving to grasp the hilt of her sword, however, she holds her right hand back, palm open, and thrusts it in once she's close enough, trying to connect with a chi-powered palm strike with surprising force.
Alexis Alexis has never been one to let losing a match get her down. Trainers don't work that way. Defeat just meant there was room to grow, and in all honesty, she entered more for the challenges against foes she might not otherwise get to compete against. As such she strides into the arena with the same confidence as usual, adjusting the ace trainer overcoat she's taken to wearing as of late. The bow gets a polite nod in return, and the woman with the sword is off before there is even a chance for witty banter. "Guess we're going right into throwing down. Fine with me." Her reflexes are more than fast enough to grab one of the red and white spheres from her bag strap and pitch it into Yomi's path. "Let's go, Redline!"

Despite what she was aiming for Yomi's palm slams into smoothish but scaly hide instead as a orange dragonic creature appears in her path. A puff of smoke exits his mouth as he hrks from the impact, but then bends his neck to peer down at the woman. "Chaarrrr!" He sounds angry. Looks angry too as he thumps a step back from Yomi, snaps back an arm and makes a quick swipe at her with one of his clawed hands in return.
Yomi Isayama "..a monster trainer, huh?" She probably should have researched her opponent more, but she's quick enough to adapt that she's not caught completely flat-footed. As the Charizard's claws come in, Yomi quickly leans back, turning a potentially nasty strike into cut across her sleeve and arm.

Once again, she doesn't draw her sword. Instead, she slams it downward, driving the scabbard into the ground and letting it stand upright. With both hands free, she reaches to grab hold of the swiping arm and shifts her weight. Despite the size of the fire Pokemon, Yomi doesn't have to strain herself too much to twist and spin, hurling her opponent back toward Alexis if it's not fast enough to get out of her grip.
Alexis Apparently size difference doesn't mean much, because the flame dragon is heaved off his feet and slung around. Maybe he was just surprised by it being done by a smaller fighter. Most smaller humanoid opponents are Fighting types, and they're quickly switched for something else when he comes onto the scene. He's swung around and flung back towards his trainer!

Though having been in the Multiverse as long as she has Alexis doesn't stand around expecting people to not attack her in some capacity, and when the winged lizard is tossed into the air she dives to the side. Though even as she rolls away Redline snaps open his wings to catch some air and use them like brakes. His broad feet slam into the ground, skidding a bit before he finally arrests his momentum.

Alexis rolls up onto one knee but immeadiately her attention is back on the fight as she points towards the swordswoman. "Blow her away." With a snarl the Charizard leans forward slightly and releases the tension in his wings to snap them forward, sending a sheering burst of air pressure at Yomi with enough force that it becomes faintly rippling visible (because that's how anime and Pokemon attacks work.)
Yomi Isayama Right. Yomi just has to think of these things like youkai and she'll do just fine. Maybe less on the outright killing part, though. As the Charizard sends a burst of air pressure at her, the exorcist reaches for her scabbard and pulls it from the ground. She finally draws the blade and slashes downward to meet the force of rushing air, cleaving it and letting it pass in two streams on either side of her, uniform and hair whipping dramatically in the wind. "Just like a kamaitachi. Maybe a bit slower. And more dragony."

Without missing a beat, Yomi darts forward again, slamming one foot down hard enough to send her flipping through the air over the Pokemon's head. She lands neatly on one foot behind it, the other swinging around to change her momentum. As she spins, her sword flashes out, trying to land a strike on the Charizard's back before he can react.
Alexis Kamaitachi? She didn't bring her Zangoose with. Or maybe that'd be closer to Sneasel and Weavel. Actually, that's something to consider. Later.

Yomi leaps over his head so Redline doesn't waste time in looking for her, he just turns around expecting her to be landing there. Which she does and swings her sword.

The tip still catchs across his hide even as he spins in the opposite direction but he moved out of the direct line of the attack quick enough to avoid getting gouged. "Rrrr." Alexis holds her hands up to her mouth to shout. "Time for the dramatics!" The wings flare again, this time beating with a powerful motion to launch the Charziard into the air. He arcs up, going into an elaborate corkscrew spin to build up additional speed and momentum, the aerial acrobatics almost having a sort of elegant dance-like quality to them. The spiraling motion continues as he dives towards the ground towards the other side of the arena and levels off with the ground. He hurtles towards Yomi with considerable speed, only to pull up at the last possible minute and spin around to swing his tail at her with that momentum giving it even more tremendous knockback force.
Yomi Isayama While she's dealt with flying opponents before, Yomi knows better than to go up after one that's more comfortable in the sky than she is. She holds her sword steady, preparing for a counterattack again, and leans back slightly as the Charizard dives toward her.

Not quite enough. The tail catches her squarely on the side with a loud WHUMP, sending the exorcist flying backwards. Before she can hit the ground, though, Yomi twists around midair, throwing down a hand to rebound from and flip back to her feet, skidding back a short distance from the momentum. "You'll have to forgive me if I break out some different tactics on you." And then, she charges again.

At Alexis.

Rather than swinging her sword, Yomi strikes out with the scabbard in her other hand. Whether or not it contacts, she follows with a knee throst, then a grab and twist, trying to keep Alexis off-balance and hurl her back toward her Pokemon.
Alexis "Aw shit," Alexis cusses, but it doesn't mean she's going to stand there defenseless. She reachs over her shoulder to grab from her bag, pulling out of all things a hockey stick. It's her trademark in-a-pinch defense. Gripping it in both hands she angles it to intercept the scabbard being swung at her. Only to take the knee in the gut instead, and while tough enough to not just crumple over she's still off-kilter from the blow.

"CHARRRRRR!" Flames whip around the dragon's mouth as he roars. Being competetive as Charizards tend to be, and fairly protective of the woman that trained him, Redline does not take being pushed aside for an attack on his Trainer instead. He's ni literally living up to his name, eyes glowing with provoked rage as he launches towards the moved battle. Alexis is flung with the throw a respectable distance, only to get caught in one of the oncoming Charizard's arms. With her out of immeadiate harm he banks to the side, zipping past Yomi and pulling up into the air a bit farther before his wings spread into a hover.

His maw opens again, this time to actually direct the flames that come spewing out of it. The stream hits the ground and sends the flames surging from it towards the swordswoman, a roaring inferno brought to life by the dragonic temper.
Yomi Isayama The trainer is on the field and has a weapon. That makes her a viable target! Besides, Yomi would be worried about wearing herself down fighting that Charizard and being unable to handle Alexis herself afterwards. She seems to have just gotten the Pokemon angry, though...

As the flames come in, Yomi raises her sword again. As with the blast of wind earlier, she manages to deflect the fire on both sides of her, though the proximity of the heat still manages to singe her uniform and even ignite one of her sleeves. As soon as the blast of fire subsides, the exorcist quickly pats at her sleeve to extinguish herself, not taking her eyes off that Charizard. "Right then..."

Taking a deep breath, Yomi recenters her focus. The air around her begins to shimmer as she pours chi into her sword, and she calls out, "Ranguren!" The shimmering air solidifies into the great Guardian Beast, all twelve of its eyes turning to focus on the Charizard and his trainer. "Go!"

Letting out a roar, Ranguren leaps forward, raising a massive paw to swat at Redline and try to pin the Pokemon to the ground.
Alexis By the time Redline lowers back to the ground Alexis has climbed onto his back and saddled herself at the base of his wings, not quite on his shoulders but close to it. Hey if her opponent is going to do the admittably tactical thing and also target her, she's just as relatively safe staying with her pokemon as she is being a solo target. She's harder to target solo this way, at least.

Then Yomi goes to summon her own beastily assist. "Whoa! First person we've fought that has a monster of their own. Awesome!"

The multi-eyed beast rushes and lunges, slamming forcefully into Redline. It might be the being closer to size and power as the dragon-like pokemon, or it might just be random like, but one way or another he succeeds in inflicting a lot more harm that Yomi did herself. Not quite enough to fully pin the Charizard, but it's enough to force him violently backwards as the two monsterous bodies collide. His tail lashses a few times, foot claws digging in to try to find some purchase and then flex, barely resisting not being slammed into one of the walls.

Then he pushes forward himself, moving to grapple and hold onto the beast. Legs and wings work in tandum to launch the dragonic creature despite the additional weight. But instead of taking to the air he launches forward, still building up some impressive speed as he pushes down, intending to drag Ranguren along the arena floor, letting momentum and friction do most of the work. Alexis lets out a whoop as she's along for the ride, coattails and ponytail whipping in the air behind her.

He might drag the monster right into Yomi if she doesn't get out of the way, as payback for her attacking Alexis earlier.
Yomi Isayama "...Divine Beast, though I guess he does look a bit like a monster." Yomi can forgive the mistake from someone not familiar with how spirits work in her world, just like she keeps mentally assigning the label 'dragon' to that Charizard.

Ranguren growls as it grapples with the Charizard, puffs of steam floating up from its mouth. With the Pokemon grappling back, it's harder to get a solid strike with its teeth, so instead the nue just digs in with claws, even as it's taken for a ride. Dirt and debris fly everywhere as the great spirit beast is dragged along the ground, but Yomi has enough time to dive out of the way before being hit by the speeding train.

The exorcist rolls and hops back to her feet, trusting that Ranguren can handle itself for a short time. She resheathes her sword, keeping hold of it with one hand, and darts forward, closing in on the diving Pokemon from behind. Once she's close enough, she leaps up, flipping once before landing squarely on the Charizard's back, behind Alexis. "Sorry for changing plans on you again," she says with a grin, reaching one arm around the trainer's waist. Yomi leans backwards and leaps from Redline again, bringing Alexis with if she can maintain a tight enough grip... and continues her arc right on toyward the ground.
Alexis Alexis yelps as she's abruptly grabbed from behind, thankfully not in a way that would be more awkward. She tries to hold on, but Yomi is actually able to use something of opposite forces in opposite directions to wrench her free and flip over to drop from the beasts as they continue to rumble back and forth to slam Alexis into the ground much harder this time. Falling off at that speed would probably be disasterous for your average rider.

Alexis is made of bit stronger stuff though. Don't get me wrong, damn that hurt. But while sore and bruised she's not going to chump the fight to a surprise attack like that. Landing on her back from the maneuver hurt but it gives her some leverage to get her legs up under Yomi afterwards and give a quick thrust to get the woman off of her.

Then Alexis rolls over to get up, deploys her collapsable rollerblades, and makes a skating hustle in the opposite direction. Clearly a good idea to get some distance from Yomi.

Not just to avoid being attacked by her. Also because Redline finally gets enough momentum in the struggling between the two creatures to lift off the ground again while carrying Ranguren with him. The Charizard makes a flipping motion of his own, spinning for the momentum before diving back down and heaving the monster towards Yomi with all the strength he can muster!
Yomi Isayama As the trainer kicks her off, Yomi leaps back, landing on her feet a short distance away. She glances up... just in time to see Ranguren hurtling toward her. There's definitely no blocking this! The exorcist takes a few steps back, right before the Guardian Beast slams into the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust in the process.

As the dust begins to clear, a large form looms within... but then more dust drifts away in the breeze, and Ranguren is nowhere to be seen. A much smaller figure darts out, though, as Yomi charges straight for Alexis, her sword back in its sheath. She raises it to strike at Alexis, but doesn't follow through, instead running on directly toward the Charizard.

As Yomi picks up speed, she leaves a small cloud of dust in her wake, finally taking a leap toward Redline. Midair, she draws her sword, and the air begins to shimmer again around her. Ranguren once more fades into existance beneath her and lets out a roar as he continues along the path of Yomi's leap with her astride its back. Once more, Yomi jumps up, springing from Ranguren's back, and the two of them hurtle toward Charizard from different angles. Ranguren extends its claws and swipes, just as Yomi dives down again, slashing with her sword at the same time, trying to catch the Pokemon between them.
Alexis The bigger creature is gone... did they knock it out? Redline seems to think so, raising his head with a roar. They may not be true dragons without mega evolving but being cocky like one seems to be a Charizard thing to be.

Of course the celebration turns out to be premature as Yomi comes barreling out of the remains of the attack, blasting past Alexis almost faster than she can follow. By the time she's stopped and turned Yomi has already resummoned the divine beast and used him as a spring board. "Redline, look out!"

Ranguren is already charging him. Redline digs his feet in and throws out his arms to catch the other juggernaught. Those oddly long and skinny arms are actually pretty good for holding him back more than the beast can swipe his claws at him. Redline opens his mouth, flames flickering deep in his throat as he prepares to roast the other creature...

*WHAM*

... But so focused on that he fails to see Yomi descending from her jump, until the sword swing slams into the side of his head just as he's about to and sending the fireball flying wide across the arena. His grip slips from Rangurn as it's lost, wings twitching in effectively as he collapses backwards with a growling groan and eyes swirling. He may have a stubborn hard head, but that doesn't really do much good against swords this time around.
Yomi Isayama After she lands from her strike, Yomi quickly glances back toward the fallen Charizard... and sheathes her sword again. Ranguren was already raising its paw, but fades back out of existance as the sword is put away.

The exorcist is definitely showing wear from the earlier impacts, but she stands straight, albeit breathing heavily, as she looks toward Alexis. "Do I have to finish you off now as well?" Yomi doesn't charge yet, but she does show signs of readiness, one hand gripping the handle of her katana.
Alexis Alexis withdraws the pokeball and the Charizard disappears in a flash of red, recontained within the small orb. Then shakes her head. "No, they handle most of the fighting. You're one of the few people to actually come after me.... which isn't a bad strategy really," she admits. Alexis is a competetor, but one that has respect for others' tactics. At least when they didn't do something to tweek her the wrong way in the process.

She noticed the coming and going of Ranguren, particularly at the end when Yomi sheating her sword caused him to stop fighting and desummon. She'd hazard a guess that he's tied to the sword in some way, much like her Pokemon have pokeballs, but opts not to ask in such an open public venue after. Instead she just walks over and offers a hand for a shake. "Good fight. Both of you."
Yomi Isayama Once Alexis declares the fight over, the exorcist visibly relaxes. She lets out a breath and lowers her stance, then reaches forward with a smile to take Alexis' hand. "If someone is on the field of battle, I can't guarantee they're not joining the fight. Glad there are no hard feelings." In the middle of the arena is not the best place to discuss her Spirit Beast, so she's glad that question didn't come up. Not that the basics of how Ranguren works can be kept secret for very long once anyone sees him in action.
