Nova Terra     The lights are flashing, the music playing loud, the crowd energized. The seating is full up as this match is ready to start!

Nova actually walks out into the arena this time, canister rifle resting over her shoulder. As she reaches her starting position, she rolls her neck and shoulders in preparation. She swings her rifle down into both hands before chambering a round. She then goes still, watching and waiting for her opponent to arrive. Nova has fought alongside Tomoe a number of times, so this should be interesting.

Once the two are in position, the floor of the arena begins to whine with energy. There's sounds of locks disengaging before the floor begins to rise up. Splitting into pieces small and large, the floor sections begin to float into position at various heights. They form into a complex array of platforms with stairs and ramps connecting each other.

Nova raises an eyebrow at the sight, "Huh..." She reaches up to bring her visor down over her eyes.
Tomoe She needed something simple, clean cut, and just without any ambiguity at all. Such was the tournament she was in and the organizers had pitted her up against Nova. A trained covert ops soldier from a possible future of her world. This was going to get intense but it's in good fun as Tomoe wouldn't want to take on Nova in a live fight. Normally she had worked with her before

Thankfully this is just tourney fight not that Tomoe will hold back she'll stride into the arena with a Naginata in hand and seems ready as she looks to her foes she'll bow a bit and grin.

"Well now this is going to be interesting. Good luck and have fun."

She notes before she ends up flaring out her wings and taking flight to blitz right for Nova intending to go right after her with her Naginata yes she brought melee weapons to a gunfight then again the survivors of the death game tended to have some very clear mental hangups or outright damage.

"Here we go!"

The strikes are rapid and clearly trying to feel out how Nova will move and react in general.
Nova Terra     "You too."

The horn sounds and the match is on!

Nova starts running immediately. She's fast too, her speed boosted by her suit. She starts running up the closest set of stairs, reaching the first raised platform and running across it.

Turning her head, Nova tracks Tomoe's incoming blitz. She makes no attempt to zig or zag to evade the flyer's approach. It's only at the last moment that Nova reacts to Tomoe's rapid blows. She drops mid-run, Tomoe's opening strike just barely scraping across her suit.

Nova skids across the surface platform until reaching the edge, at which point she begins to fall. In mid air she twists around, snapping off a shot in Tomoe's direction. She then hits the platform below in a roll, quickly rising once more and continuing to run.
Tomoe Tomoe is well aware of Nova's sniping skills, and that she is very darn mobile, she knows this will be quite the chase for a while, yet she's not without ranged options herself. The Shot comes and Tomoe shows she's more agile than one might expect someone of her size and wearing the kit she is, the shot does connect but it grazes her leaving a bright red jagged digital line showing it's passing and it has hit her.

She'll watch Nova run and then start casting, golden runes dance about her body and as she chants in noses, she's flying about still as she does not want to sit too still and then comes the firebolts which try to seek out and run down the speeding Terran Ghost.
Nova Terra     Nova doesn't have to be psychic to know that Tomoe is attempting to cast some magic. But it certainly helps, because it means she doesn't have to look in order to know. She can sense the fairy concentrating on her magic, giving her the warning she needs.

Just as Tomoe prepares to fire her spell, blue light washes over Nova's body and she quickly disappears from view. The resulting fireballs sweep through the space that Nova had been just moments ago, impacting the platform and exploding with no noticeable effect.

Several heavy seconds pass with no sight of Nova. Until a shimmer on an upper platform reveals her location. But it's too late, a bullet quickly blasting out of her rifle on a deadly trajectory towards Tomoe.
Tomoe Nova is fast and it shows here as her spells have no luck in tracking Nova at all. She'll shift she knows what's coming she doesn't have to be a telepath to know what's about to happen and tomoe does pop some damage reduction ability which covers her with a faint glow it lessens the bullet's damage but it still hits.

"Oh right, you're a telepath."

R She'll have to react and use muscle memory more than attacks that require more active thought.

So she'll get into the swing of things she will chase after Nova with her spear ready once more as she launches into a sword art the spear glows with a blue fire as Tomoe closes. Then she's upon Nova for a moment striking at, her with the blade, still given how slippery she is it's not a sure thing that Tomoe's attack will connect.
Nova Terra     Attacking Nova in melee is a good idea. She's primarily a ranged fighter. However, there is a flaw in that tactic. It takes time to close the distance. It might only be a very short time. But a very short time is all Nova needs for the distortion in her cloak to fade. And fade it does.

The shimmering dissipates and soon Nova is completely invisible once more. Just in time to as Tomoe's heavy strike passes not through Nova, but thin air.

Nova's voice calls out from one direction, "Don't worry, it's not like I'm actively trying to read your mind."

A few moments later from a different direction, "Some things are just hard to ignore."

That strange sense of intuition that comes from being skilled in the sword arts is the only warning Tomoe is going to get as an invisible blade comes swinging at her from behind. Whether the blade connects with Tomoe herself or her weapon, there is yet another shimmer revealing the outline of Nova wielding it.
Tomoe Fighting Nova is like fighting a shadow, she does not give up and she presses on, she twists now as she knows a counter attack is coming soon and she is right. She hears Nova for a moment.

"I'm not sure you'd like some of what you might get."

Then again Nova's likely seen worse but there are some bad thing in her head.

The next attack does not do much damage this time and that gives Tomoe a second to breathe.

She has some option and she's going to put them to use right now she'll press her attacks with several quick light ray spells, over a wide area hoping to just tag Nova for now and get an idea of where she is for the moment.
Nova Terra     Using a wide area attack works well as Nova is caught in one of the spells. Caught and tagged, Nova decloaks to reveal herself, giving up on the invisibility trick for the moment. Her suit appears to be a little scorched from that last attack, but otherwise she's still going strong.

"I rarely do." People suck, after all.

The fight turns into a chase again as Nova is off and running once more, trying to keep her distance from Tomoe. As she does so, she starts firing bursts from her rifle.

But they're not aimed at the fairy. But rather some of the floating platforms above her. The bullets rip into the suspension generators, causing them to cut out. Platforms begin to fall out of the air towards Tomoe, threatening to squish her if she can't avoid them.
Tomoe Tomoe does see Nova is keeping her distance against her she has to get into melee if she can get into melee then she can do something with her close up abilities. As she gets slammed by falling platform she goes splat very well. Tomoe slams into the ground very hard leaving an impact from it she's under one? Is it over? No, it's not as the platform start to move as she rises up and looks a bit unhappy.

"Is that how you want to play all right HERE CATCH!"

She'll spin around and throw the platform at Nova. As this happens?

She'll take flight again not wanting to give up the added mobility it gives her. She'll keep flying about she does have a plan left but will she have enough power to pull it off with how hard Nova is pressing her?
Nova Terra     Nova runs. As she does so, she ejects the magazine from her rifle and lets it drop to the ground. She pulls another magazine out of a compartment in her suit, sliding it in just in time. She looks up to see the large platform flying at her... Not enough time!

There's a large crash, the platform kicking up a fair bit of debris from the impact. Nova is briefly obscured by the dust. That is until a section of it suddenly swirls as yet another gunshot rings out. Once more a bullet flies towards Tomoe, though this one looks a little different. And if it hits... Well, the effect is going to be interesting.

Nova herself is looking rather battered now, blood streaking down the side of her head. But she still looks determined to continue.
Tomoe Tomoe has no idea about the round until it hits her she's taken aback by the force of the hit she's feeling tired she's getting debuffs all over her HUD from that. She's not sure what hit her, but it's not good, it's not good at all she has almost nothing left but she's not quite down just yet. She doesn't have much left but she might have a few things she could do with Nova still.

"Damn you spent something like that for a tournament on me I'm flattered."

SHe notes but it's clear she's banged up pretty darn good. She will close in on Nova gain this time trying to get close enough, she doesn't seem to have the power for a sword art but she does still have enough to take a swing at Nova. She really should give up but she's fighting on fumes and instincts born of the death game.
Nova Terra     Nova gives Tomoe a bloodied smile, ejecting her magazine (it only had the one round) and putting a regular one back in, "I may be in this competition just for the money. But I do have some pride. And a reputation as deadly to maintain. So I'm pulling out everything I've got."

Of course, Nova's not looking much better than Tomoe at this point. As the fairy closes in and throws a punch, Nova tries to duck out of the way. But she's too slow. The fist connects with an impressive amount of accuracy, sending blood flying from Nova's mouth and her mind reeling.

Summoning what little strength she has left, Nova reaches out with one hand to grab Tomoe by the shoudler, "Nice hit." She uses her other hand to raise her rifle up to press the barrel right against Tomoe's chest. She pulls the trigger.
Tomoe The fight is close this is a good fight, a very good fight, all things considered, it's rather insane with how well Tomoe kept up with Nova after all is said and one but even with Tomoe's superhuman endurance can only take so much after all.

"Can't fault you there."

Tomoe's body is miss-mash wireframe damage at this point which is kind of creepy. If Nova is picking up surface thoughts from Tomoe? She would get it focused on the following. The single line of thought. I can not stop, must not drop, cannot drop. She needs to just keep going and Nova grab hold of her the rifl up against her chest she reaches out trying to get Nova by the throat but the shot goes off first and she crumples to the ground.
Nova Terra     Nova lets Tomoe fall to the ground, dropping down to one knee herself soon after. She's look near to collapsing herself.

But then the announcer announces, "Winner: Nova Terra!"

The crowd cheers even as the Shrine's effects begin to reverse the injuries on the two. Feeling her strength returning once more, Nova stands straight again. She reaches a hand down to Tomoe to off her help in getting up, "Good fight."
Tomoe Tomoe is on the ground rather out of it until the effects start to reverse she'll take Nova's hand and will get back to her feet.

"Thanks and it was a hell of a fight. Remind me to never become an enemy of you if I can help it. So want to get something to eat? I have been running a small food venue when I am not fighting!"
