Evangeline McDowell     Shopping... shopping never changes.

Despite all the technological advances of the 2080s, despite the revolutionary introduction and integration of magic into the world, despite the three great shifts in fashion and entertainment preferences, Palette Town remains Palette Town. The great ferris wheel is now twice as tall and levitates before a gracefully log-curved pylon. Odaiba has grown over even more of Tokyo bay, swallowing the south of Koto City and becoming a miniature Venice, shot through with canals and lousy with bridges.

Four separate subway lines snake their way along the islands and connect them to the mainland. Water busses, dressed up in elegant black-and-red livery, come from all points while silently trailing magically-propelled wakes. Air bus and air car traffic is prohibited except at the north terminal of Tokyo Teleport - where there is a constant traffic jam despite two separate levels of no-loiter loading/unloading.

Above Odaiba, there are no aircars (except the ones circling about the delimited air-race track from Mega Web). It's just walking or, if you're tired, special tiny 2-seater point-to-point air-shuttles. Half of the islands are parkland or promenades, the rest are towering buildings such as:

-DECKS Beach Mall and AQUA CITY Mall, along the artificial beach to the north
-The Hilton, Hyatt, Nikko Grand, New Hot Springs, and other resort-hotels
-Museum of Magic and Museum of Future Magitek
-Venus Palace shopping mall, built Rococo replica of Versailles
-The old 2064 World Fair site, now converted into a mix of small vendor stalls.
-Sato, EA-Tokyo, SEGA, and other pop culture museums
-Negi Springfield University Odaiba Campus with a big statue of its namesake
-Mega Web with daily mecha exhibition fights
        -And much, much more!
Evangeline McDowell     As a member of the great and powerful worldwide organization UQ Holder, as an exact time clone of its august leader, and as an ancient vampire mage, Evangeline McDowell is of course going to arrive via subway line, her short stature smushed into the packed train. She nearly has to crawl her way out at the Tokyo Teleport stop. There's a lot of swearing involved, across at least three different languages.
That doesn't really match up with Evangeline's appearance, because /someone/ had seen fit to amuse herself by giving Evangeline a Mahora Academy school uniform. White blouse, red vest, red tartan skirt, black thigh-highs socks, and brown mary janes. She seethes inwardly and outwardly: after all that she's done to escape the curse, Yukihime loans her THIS!?
Evangeline violently slaps her JR card on the exit reader on the way out and, when it misregisters, ducks the few centimeters she needs to get under the turnstile.
    "Roaster."
Evangeline marches right towards a big map glowing on the wall. near the Center Square exit and unfolds a piece of paper in her hand. First order of business: getting one of these "magic smartphones" that are supposed to be a life-essential tool, with the "magic apps".
Ritsuka Fujimaru Jeanne has gotten fairly used to living among mortals, all things considered. Even with her reputation as a rabble rouser and an occasional/frequent mass murderer, she still manages to blend in from time to time. Today's another one of her less murder-spree days as she's agreed to go watch/taunt a child, dressed in a slightly-patched up navy jacket with fur trimmed collar and a black shirt/skirt sort of combo.

It fits her, at least, even if the outfit itself is questionable considering the time year. She doesn't approach Evangeline right away, instead content to just watch her from a nearby turnstile while sipping a coffee and glaring at anyone that comes anywhere near said turnstile. They can use the other ones if she's in the way!
Touta Konoe      As a member of the great and powerful worldwide organization UQ Holder, Touta isn't really sure why he's here. Or at least why it matters of his position to be here. The way he saw it he had come along to help Kitty out. After all, even if she had come from around the same time in her universe this was a different timeline and events, places, things could diverge on that. Which is why when UQ Holder's august leader ended up telling him to keep an eye on her, he didn't really mind. he was even planning to ask if she wanted some help before it happened.

As she traverses the train systems, Touta's been going the full way with her just trying to keep her from blowing her top, and apologizing on her behalf to the people who think she was swearing at them or she might have actually been swearing at. He didn't know two of those three languages.

"Ah yeah, there it is." He follows after her as she marches herself to the map and waits as she figures out where she needs to go. Unlike Kitty's attire Touta's is definitely not a uniform. In fact, instead of his usual black get-up, all he's wearing today is a t-shirt that reads 'Salty' and a pair of jeans. Nothing too fancy this time around, but matched up with his aesthetic at least.

"Man, feels like forever since I've just hung out back home. Even longer since I've been in the malls here. It'll be nice to be together though I bet...Now, wonder if the others are almost here?" As he says that he starts scanning the area for familiar faces. Oh, did he forget to mention that he was bringing extra people along on this shopping spree?
Chrollo Lucilfer Even bandits go shopping occasionally. Or, in this case, 'eyeing everything worth stealing while pretending to window shop'. Hence why one thief, bandit, murderer, and leader of the Phantom Troupe Chrollo Lucilfer is enjoying himself with a milkshake in one hand and a keen eye wandering pretty much everywhere.

Somewhere in the mall, a very confused stall attendant is wondering where that strawberry milkshake went.

The man has been at the 'casing the mall' beat for a good hour or two with only limited things of interest or people of note thus far. He's managed to blend in at that: black and fur trim, even going shirtless under the jacket hasn't exactly caused a stirr. It feels a bit like the more middle class portions of Yorknew City. Without the mafia and a lot more technology.

He's currently prodding at an appropriated local smartphone in between sips of his drink, when his gaze slides over a few more interesting fellows. That mainly being Jeanne (he appreciates her style!) as well as the pair of Touta and Evangeline. The young man only briefly, but Evangeline gets a second look.

...Hasn't he seen her somewhere? He'll be sly about it, but the girl and her entourage has his notice from the bench past the turnstiles.
Muramasa "Well, well. Looks like we meet again, youngins'."

Muramasa still preferred dressing traditionally, but there was something comforting about modern clothing, too. From 'that' life, he supposed --the redheaded Servant wore a nostalgic white shirt with long blue sleeves, jeans, and sneakers. All in all, he didn't seem to stand out too much if one were to ignore the vibrant tone of his hair and eyes.

Muramasa reaches out to pat both Evangeline and Touta on the head, being much taller than both in the kind of mannerism you could only ascribe to a doddering old man, contradicting his youthful face. "Out for a day on the town?"
Evangeline McDowell     Evangeline is of course a great and evil mage (who can't do any magic right now (it's a performance anxiety thing!)) and thus remains exactly aware of her surroundings as she's contractually obligated to. That is to say, not. Jeanne, who's creating a bubble of admirers / foot traffic blockage on her own, goes unseen. Touta's spiky hair kind of blends in with some of the other spiky hair around here, and Evangeline doesn't recognize him despite having looked right at him on her turn-around and marching towards the Central Plaxa exit.
It's really easy to follow Evangeline: from behind, just look for the blonde Cousin It (but better groomed). Several times, her hand twitches like she wants to throw some muckin' great oaf into a wall for walking into her way. Nobody, oafs or otherwise, got thrown today.

Sunlight! Blue sky! Whispy white clouds! Seagulls fighting over discarded snack bits! Evangeline shades her eyes and groans as she exits the station, immediately looking around for the next bit of shade. She succeeds in finding the front gates of Venus Palace, across the Dream Plaza greens and their fountains. She fails in that a gaggle of middle-school girls in the pink-and-gold, vaguely robe-like school uniform of Hahoutokoro points her way, all looking excited, and start crossing the plaza towards her.

Which, of course, Evangeline doesn't notice either, because Sengo just appeared out of FRIGGIN NOWHERE and almost earned an aikido throw when Evangeline recoiled in surprise. The recoil was stopped mid-recoil because Sengo pushed a snooze button by patting her on the head - not, of course, that she'll admit to having reacted in any way other than total calm and nonchalance.

Even if she's looking down and very, very gently blushing.
Ritsuka Fujimaru The Avenger raises an eyebrow slowly as she notices that there's quite a few people that have turned up to keep an eye on/stalk the pair today. Neither Chrollo nor Sengo are people she recognizes, but the former gets a questioning glance when it's (relatively) apparent that he's not going to approach Evangeline and Touta with anything resembling familiarity.

To that end, Sengo actually seems less suspicious to Jeanne despite never ^having a proper conversation with him.

The gaggle of people gawking at her, meanwhile, get almost no reaction. She's perfectly aware they're standing there, of course, but she doesn't acknowledge them as she turns instead to stare right at Chrollo. There's no words being exchanged nor gestures sent his way, but it's clear that she knows where he is as a slow smirk creeps across her face.

Is it a challenge?
Touta Konoe      Just as he's about to head over her way she starts trucking away again. For someone with such small legs she gets around pretty quickly. It thankfully is easy to keep an eye on a European girl through the streets of New Tokyo. He still ends up having to deal with anyone she bumps and keep an eye on that hand twitch but it seemed so far so good with all things considered.

Just when he thinks he'll finally grab her attention he sees that she's about to meet up with a bunch of other school girls, so he figures that maybe this would be a friendly experience for her!

Speaking of friends, he's definitely a bit surprised when someone decides to give him a headpat all of a sudden. When he turns to see that familiar face though, that surprise on his face turns to a smile. "Shimosa! Yeah, I'm just around to help with some shopping! Hope getting here wasn't too crazy. I know Jeanne has all her wyverns hanging out in the caves and they can get a little...Territorial. Still this is great. Maybe if we have some time later I can ask you to come with me around some of the food stores? I need a new wok, but I could use a second opinion on quality."

As he re-connects with Shimosa, now within closer proximity to Eva, he'll just give a smirk and a wave so that she can focus on talking to those other girls coming her way. As for himself, well...His eyes keep scanning around for something. He had told Jeanne about this mall deal and yet...He hadn't seen her yet.

"Huh...I know she didn't sound excited about it, but I was sure she'd still come around..." In regards to Chrollo, he wasn't even an afterthought as of yet.
Chrollo Lucilfer If Chrollo has a vice, it's curiousity. And between Evangelline's face not /quite/ able to be placed and then the cocky Avenger directly provoking him? His own gaze doesn't leave Jeanne's as it's caught, those grey eyes and his overly calm face never changing expression. He stands up just as a few mall-goers make their way past.

And he tries to stealthily blend in, moving in between crowds before stepping out a bit towards Jeanne's left. This time he has this amiable smile on his face, hands in his pockets, and is just kind of /right there/ as if he didn't just creepily stalk out of a crowd .

"Is that tailored, Miss? I'm sorry, I couldn't help but notice. It's lovely. A friend of mine really would enjoy one like that. Where'd you get it?" His voice is all sorts of 'friendly young man in his mid-twenties' that he appears. His eyes, though, and something about his expression might be a little too...off.

And he keeps on peering back out of the corner of his eye to the Not-Vampire in the room, and her now /two/ compatriots. He's slightly wary in his entire body, perhaps ruining his attempts at coming off as 'normal' around here.

He also /swears/ he heard the word 'wyvern' from Touta, and that earns the young man a curious once over again.

Challenge accepted Jeanne!
Muramasa Now keeping his hands to himself, Sengo smiles. "I see. Oh? That Avenger, in'nit .... I hope the best for her. Some socializing might do her some good. Then again, maybe not..?"

It was hard to say, he decided. He only had one other case to base that one, and she seemed more personable than he'd ever been despite being filled with the same impossible hatred.

Rather, he figured that the difference was that she still looked ahead for some kind of caveat for herself at the end of it all, rather than eternally having that past slinking down her spine. "Cooking utensils? Leave it to me. In the end, today's stuff isn't made like it's used to, but I'm sure there's something useable for you."

He was here mostly as happenstance, so he didn't have a reason to keep a particular eye on Evangeline after greeting her. Although, that crowd did seem a little ... worrying.

For some reason, it reminded him of the daily life of a certain someone who'd been obsessed with gems.

Idly, he wondered if the industrial sector of Fuyuki looked anything like this city now. Or, did it even exist in this world?
Evangeline McDowell     Evangeline's eyes follow Sengo's patting hand back before forcibly breaking contact and dealing with the previously tabled issues, like 'How nice to see you here.' and 'Touta what are you doing? Are you following me?'. But she bites those comments back before they make it past her tongue. Seriously, you can hear the quiet 'click' of her slightly-parted teeth unparting themselves.
Touta gets exactly one 'we're going to talk later, mister' stare. She knows better than to interrupt 'shop talk' between boys when they're getting up to it. In fact, this would be a great time to just sneak away and get her busin-

"HEY! 'Scuse me!" The loud-for-her-size voice from the oncoming student body cuts through the chatter like an icebreaker through the post-global-warming Arctic.
Evangeline pointedly refuses to turn around, but her fists ball up.
"You! Mahora girl! That's a Mahora uniform, right? The 'greatest magic academy' in Honshu?"

Like seawater before a bunch of slaves escaping pyramidland, the crowd parts between Evangeline and the Mahoutokoro gang-of-five. It was an automatic reaction, in these parts, and performed smoothly enough to make a movie director weep.
Ritsuka Fujimaru With Chrollo starting to move, Jeanne watches him for a few moments longer before turning to observe the youngsters and the strange older man again, pushing off her turnstile to finally begin moving and following the group. When Chrollo approaches her with those questions, she doesn't even respond right away, although she does glance in his direction briefly without turning her head.

In fact, it's not until that strange group of students approaches Touta, Evangeline, and Sengo that she finally speaks up. "Tailoring? I saw it in some store in Japan, so I took it. If you wanted to get this for yourself, there's probably extras somewhere." Why would she need to remember about such things, anyway?

There's a brief pause as Jeanne taps her chin, never taking her eyes off the group despite her voice being directed solely at Chrollo. "So. What are you here for? I can't imagine you're just here to sightsee." She isn't stepping in yet, and it doesn't look like she intends to. If anything, she seems more amused than anything else at what's going on.
Touta Konoe      There's a look of confusion on his face as she gives him that look. Did he do something wrong? While he was conversing with Sengo he doesn't even have to look her way at first to tell some sort of discontent is accruing. Or was it something else? Sometimes it's hard to read into those things.

Though the eye contact is broken between the two as the voice of another girl causes a divide amongst the crowd. He's not sure what's going on to cause a call out like that but he has come to the conclusion that school girls are frightening in their own special way that not even monsters can overpower. He does have one way to avoid this situation that comes to mind though...

"Kitty, we gotta get going remember? You said you wanted that new phone right?" With that he reaches for her hand and pulls her in the opposite direction like he's not even paying attention to the other girls.

His idea was ingenius and dumb at the same time. By pulling her away like that Kitty didn't even have to fight. She could just pull the 'I'm on a date, where's yours' card against the group of girls and flaunt off victoriously...This was not what Touta's idea was though. His idea was, redirect Kitty in the other direction that wasn't as crowded...
Chrollo Lucilfer Has Chrollo has stumbled upon a fellow bandit!? His eyes widen just a fraction as more personal interest in Jeanne has him paying a bit more attention to her rather than just trying to keep up his vague cover here. She finally speaks up, and he finds himself split between the group of kids now hassling Touta and Eva, and the fiery Avenger.

Chrollo Lucilfer actually smiles. "'Took'? Are you a thief, then, Miss?" He 'teases', hands still in his pockets. Yeah, much like Jeanne, he's not directly getting involved. He isn't, however, hiding his interest in the goings-on as the louder student mentions Mahora and 'greatest magic academy'.

"Mmm, I'm looking for some old friends of mine. I thought maybe a mall this large might attract them. They're a bit rowdy sometimes, the sort that cause stirrs. So if I just waited long enough and follow any commotions..."

He's actually being honest here.

"Those kids aren't them, even if this is a commotion. Magic. They're not talking about stage magic, are they? Fascinating." He asides to Jeanne.

Someone's not from around here. He /does/ notice Touta starting to try to break things up. Chrollo thinks a moment.

"I remember spats like that in school. The boyfriend always pulling away the girlfriend. I'll bet she just doesn't have any pride in her school to defend." With a good read of the situation, he'd rather it not peter out so quickly. So he pours on his most condescending voice to no one in particular, just loud enough that Eva or the other girls and Touta might be able to catch it. Then he laughs.

Yeah, he's trying to egg this conflict on. Maybe he can see this 'magic' or remember who that blonde girl is.
Muramasa Blinking owlishly, Muramasa looked to the foreign magic students and couldn't help but chuckle, raising his hands in a placating manner. "Now, now ... I'm sure all of you young missys' have a school to be proud of, but is this kind've hubub necessary?"

The tall japanese man puts on a grandfatherly smile as Touta does his best of disengaging Evangeline from the situation. Which wasn't a bad idea, after all, she had a nasty temper and a powerful foot. It'd turn into a scene if he failed.

It was all very nostalgic, really.
Evangeline McDowell     Crash cut to a close-up of Evangeline's ear, twitching. The tip of it flushes red, and then the rest of Evangeline's face goes peach-red (several levels below beet-red). She's shivering under Touta's hand as he pulls her away, despite it being a warm summer's day. Actually it might not be shivering but some other '-ivering' word. One of those things that has to do with emotions. And she lets herself be guided away, holding onto- no, clinging onto Touta's tugging hand like it's a Mad Max post-apocalyptic world and he's her blood bag.

"HEY! Mahora girl!" The leader in the middle of the Mahoutokoro group shoots Chrollo a pleased, knowing look, like they share some secret or maybe opinion together. "You running away? You're running away! Forgot your wand today, I bet. Go home and practice your charms on your boyfriend!"

And NOW Evangeline turns beet-red and stares pointedly at her own feet, still following Touta along, shivering like it's the middle of a Canadian winter and her being not the type to ever apologize.

"Hey, you seem like you know what's up," Chrollo's confronted next with the (short) wall of pink, topped with approving nods and sort of a couple of proud, predatory grins. "You wanna hang with some real witches? Make a committment?" (A dismissive glance and smirk gets thrown at Sengo, here.)
Ritsuka Fujimaru A thief? Hm. That's the least of it." Jeanne responds with a brief smirk, tilting her head slowly to one side until there's an audible crick. "Well, it looks like there might be a commotion here soon. It should make this trip at least a little worthwhile." She gestures at the small scene, still looking mildly disinterested.

"Stage magic, actual, who knows? I hope it's the latter, because I don't remember why I even bothered coming out here." Despite her initial amusement, Jeanne already looks somewhat disappointed as Touta starts trying to tug Evangeline back while Sengo tries to keep things under control.

"She should be able to take care of herself. She's much older than she looks." A beat. "Something to do with magic." And then she starts laughing when Chrollo does, all too willing to help make things worse, especially with those jeers being sent Evangeline's way. "Really now? Are you going to take that from a bunch of children?"

Another challenge.
Touta Konoe      Oh there's Jeanne. 'Really now? Are you going to take that from a bunch of children?' Oh...There's Jeanne. It was one thing to get called out by a stranger on the street but when someone you consider instigating things Touta has no choice but to give her a look that just screams 'REALLY?!' She may be in charge of him right now but he knows all of her food related weaknesses. SHE. WILL. PAY.

Though without anything else to say he's trying to think of some way to deal with this mess now. He looks back towards Kitty for a moment, she was in the middle of all this, but at the least he wanted her to know that whatever she chose to do whether she tried to fake it, or had some sort of trick up her sleeve... He wouldn't say it aloud but he looks her dead in the eyes still holding that hand to let her know that she has his support.
Muramasa Sengo demonstrates a buddha like patience, his smile creaking upwards. But, something feels wrong here.

What's this shuddering dread pooling here? He's still smiling, but there's something off about it as he crosses his arms over his chest. "Well now, Mahoutokoro, is it ...? Such rude missys' -- how shameful, but it's none of my business. I'll just let your teachers sort you out."

If there was one thing that any schoolgirl feared, it was the domino effect of events that would transpire from any misdeeds being acknowledged by faculty. Namely, that it'd always wind up reaching their parents.

Jeanne and her nefarious compatriot in gaudy-fashion-sense receive most of his disapproval, though. Shame on you, you know better.
Chrollo Lucilfer Evangeline is a blushing mess, and Chrollo shows absolutely no traces of sympathy. Though his interest has certainly waned in favor of the situation at whole and the promise of magic. Especially as a kink in his plans surely forms, as there's this wall of pink being directed his way. Hrrmn.

He hasn't dealt with kids much /or/ gone to school. Just as Jeanne said, this is much more interesting that it could have been. "Then why not ensure it's interesting? I'll admit, wandering and window shopping gets boring even in a place like this."

His smile is shared with Jeanne, and it's of the cruel kind of curiosity. Then he's kneeling down to the group of tiny witches in their uniforms with a welcoming smile like they're his best friends or little siblings.

"Well, it must be my lucky day, meeting powerful, fierce witches like you all! Really, I'm just a country bumpkin. I always wanted to see what /real/ mages can do. With my own two eyes. Tell me all about it, the things I'm missing. Why not teach that rude girl that doesn't know her place a lesson, too, hm? It might be worth your while." When he thinks they're not looking? He'll quickly slip a few local currency in robe pockets with light thief's hands. Then he taps his own meaningfully to the kids. And a conspiratorial wink to them.

Nor has he missed Jeanne's words about Eva! His gaze slowly turns back to her, as well as Touta and Sengo. The young man clad in black looks right in Sengo's eyes as he's getting that wave of disapproval.

This is a man completely lacking in shame.
Rean Schwarzer Speaking of people in school uniforms, Rean's here now too.  His blazer's draped over his arm because holy crap is it hot here, but he's still got his tie and school dress shirt on. Heâs also got a small purple paper shopping bag in his hand, labeled "Azalea Boutique." Now to get home so that he can wrap up this gift for his sister...and maybe figure out how to get on trains here without getting squashed like a sardine.  These 'subways' were pretty different from the trains where he was from!

He continues walking, until he spots a familiar face. Is that Touta over there? And...some girl he doesn't recognize.  And a bunch of other girls in pink uniforms doing the bully circle thing. He walks over, and looks at Touta with genuine concern crossing his face.

"Everything ok over here?" Rean asks.
Evangeline McDowell     "Act your own a-" Evangeline cuts herself off, yanking her head back around and whipping Touta in the arm with her hair. She didn't even specify whom that directive was aimed towards. The Mahoutakoro bunch? Jeanne? Sengo? The gathering throng of watchers who're starting up a chant of "magic duel" and egging /everyone/ on because the next scheduled Gundam Battle isn't for another half hour?
"Hey! Mahora girl!" Chrollo gets surrounded and then incorporated into the pink wall as he becomes "one of us", even if he's not a middle schooler, witch, or wearing pink. "There's no need to hide behind your boyfriend. He's cute. I like him, too. Just get on your kn-" The leader cuts off and shoots an annoyed, wary glance at Sengo, "Just excuse yourself. We'll let you go... hey, that guy's pretty cute too."

    "Right, mister?" Chrollo gets asked.

The blue uniform of a police officer appears as she pushes her way politely and firmly through the crowd to the front and, after sweeping through the scene once, immediately fixates on Chrollo. Her eyes narrow and she taps on a magic app on her phone, then raises it to take a picture of this man who's somehow gathered a gaggle of girls way younger than he is and is encouraging them to do public bullying.

Evangeline loosens her grip on Touta's hand and, still staring at the ground, starts pivoting on a heel. "Hey, Touta... I think that... sometimes... the weak doesn't deserve protecting."
Ritsuka Fujimaru Touta's and Sengo's disapproving stares only serve to make Jeanne's laughter even louder. Why wouldn't it? She's a shit-stirrer. Evangeline's some kind of tiny Yukihime doppelganger or something. Of course she'd be having fun with this!

Well, until Rean and an officer show up. The latter is easy enough to identify as someone that's actually doing their job for once, but the former... She's not sure what to think of this one. His clothes don't quite match that of the other people she's seeing around here, but she does notice that he directs his attention towards Touta rather than Evangeline.

"That was disappointing. Oh well." Jeanne sighs lightly, then starts moving once again! She's still following Evangeline and Touta, but she's keeping her distance for the time being to see if Chrollo's ploy with those students goes anywhere further than that.
Muramasa Really looking at Chrollo now, the Servant's disapproval grows. Not just because of his shameless behavior, but rather -- perhaps it was simple insight, but he knew this was the kind of person he couldn't tolerate. Atleast school bullies were easy to deterr, but guys like him?

Ah, he thinks. When did he start categorizing the man in black in such a way? For some reason, he felt he was in the same category as that fake priest.

Guys like that always brought more trouble to the table than anyone could chew.

Sengo takes his leave of the scene after giving a polite wave to the gaggle of pink-clad students, as Touta had invited him to go wok-shopping. He couldn't just leave the boy high and dry. "Ho ho, how eventful. Although, I wonder how that Avenger's supper will turn out? I'm sure you'll cook to the best of your ability regardless, won't you?"

In other words, even if you cook her most hated dish, at least cook it well.
Touta Konoe      'Really, I'm just a country bumpkin.'

The moment he hears that, something in him just sorta clicks. He doesn't have the ability to tell if someone's lying or any sort of super power. It's just that Touta's a country bumpkin and he knows what other bumpkins should look like up in the boonies. No one from the Boonies wore fur trim clothing, or even rocking the kind of muscles this guy had under his jacket on full display...

"Boyfriend?" Touta looks around for a moment, who was this boyfriend they were calling cute all of sudden? After all, he was just helping his friend out after all. Nothing boyfriendish about that, no sir. And that's when he hears a familiar voice call over to him.

"Rean...?" He looks to Rean and then back at the girls, then back to Rean. "Mmmm, I guess I could see that." How'd they mistake him for Kitty's boyfriend though? Girl's are weird.

"Wait...Rean?!" He stops for a moment and stops looking him over quite a bit. Yeah, it was definitely him, "Huh, guess my part of the Multiverse is getting popular." That's the only conclusion he can come to on the other's arrival. Wait, he still hasn't even responded to him yet! "Oh it's fine we were just about to head ou-"

Hair whip! Touta gets cut off and before he can even respond he can hear the sound of the officer cutting into the crowd. And that's when Touta decide it might be a good time to bail. So he tugs Eva with one hand and tugs Rean with the other with a whisper, "Hey, we should get going now."

From there Touta tries getting the group to move out while the cop deals with Chrollo and his new friends. Once they get somewhere a bit less crowded he'd start speaking up again.

"Sorry bout that Rean, anyway we were just shopping, feel free to tag along if you want. You can take Jeanne's place, seriously what is she-"

Touta has to stop for a moment and contemplate his words regarding Jeanne's dinner. It's just enough of a thoughtful yet entertaining remark to cool his head a little. The last thing that happens though is probably the most baffling to him, Kitty's hand lets go of his own and she starts saying something that makes him raise an eyebrow. "Huh, what makes you say that Kitty?" He really doesn't know where that was coming from with her.
Chrollo Lucilfer /Cops/! Chrollo's gaze turns to the oncoming police officer. For a second, there's a narrow of his eyes and the sort of almost instinctual hatred for officers of the law that any good bandit or resident of Meteor City might have etched into their heart. The urge to steal her phone and shove a knife into her spine is tempting. But not here.

Also he's crowded by a bunch of middle schoolers. On one hand, he looks suspicious and can't easily get out of the way while not using his Nen. On the other, middle schoolers make good improvised melee weapons.

He probably learned that one from Uvo.

Chrollo does stand up, putting slightly more crowd and gaggle of pink between himself and the officer though.

"That's exactly right. It's pathetic that she won't defend herself. Why don't you all show her what you can do? Not to mention, that awful person over there is going to break up your fun if you don't do something quick. You all aren't like that Mahora girl though. So I'm sure you can get impress me." He nods to the officer in a subtle motion to the girls. He gives his most winning, brilliant smile.

Time to set the mob of pink on the law.

"Go on. Don't let any adult or any Mahora girl kick you around. Witches can do whatever they want."

Touta, of course, has him completely pegged. Chrollo wouldn't know a tractor from a termite unless he were stealing one.
Evangeline McDowell     SMASH CUT

It's good that there's no handcuffs involved, because that would have gone into the pictures being taken as documentation for the citation. The nice police officer had told Touta to hang on to Evangeline, after prying Evangeline off of two of the Mahoutakara girls. The same officer is trying to tell a pile of pink-covered limbs and bruises that they shouldn't listen to bad men like Chrollo, who might do socially unaccepting things to/with them.
Evangeline had dodged two curses and taken the third one in the face - she still can't speak and sits in totally mute fury next to Touta. There was a disclocation, two sprains, and a host of bruises on the Mahoutakara bunch, not to mention possibly bruised pride and indignation at this violation of the sanctity of "magic dueling".

Touta might have started to step in, but it was over in under three seconds - the time it took Evangeline to sprint the distance to her tormentors (except Jeanne).

For her part, Evangeline looks like she wants to murder and is only held back by her indecision on what to murder first: the stupid pink schoolgirls how dare they use their stupid glitter-covered wands, Jeanne for not helping at all, Touta for trying to help, the concept of a police department that gets in the way of street dueling, Chrollo for being a stupid harem protagonist god I've seen way too many of them they're all trouble and dumb and stupid, or the fountain that Evangeline had been tossed into by the curse's impact. Evangeline would look to fix her hair (never mind her dripping outfit) except she had no reflection in the water anyway.
Ritsuka Fujimaru And then things went much further than that. Just as well, since Jeanne was almost going to be disappointed by this outing. She had broken into uproarious laughter, of course, watching a tiny child attack several slightly-less tiny children despite the numerical and size disadvantages. She's still snickering even by the time everyone's separated, approaching the small group with a satisfied grin on her face.

"Now was that so hard? I don't hear them shrieking any more after that. Do you?" Another chuckle, and the Avenger crosses her arms while turning from Evangeline, Touta, Sengo, and Rean to focus on Chrollo next. For his part in the whole mess, the strange man gets...

... A thumbs up. Jeanne approves! And then she turns back to the rest of the group. "... Still. Why wait so long? If someone insults you, destroy them. It should be simple enough."
Chrollo Lucilfer Chrollo Lucilfer, now dressed in a hoodie and jeans he'd mugged a guy in the bathroom for, is whistling a tune with something akin to happiness in his voice...but just almost so. He'd ghosted during the fight into the crowd, snapping pictures while it all went on. Fingers explore the magic app on the good officer's phone he'd yanked some time during the magical Eva-related brawl.

He's made sure to get all the /good/ angles of Eva and the pile of pink assailants, maybe even of Touta and Sengo too. He'll make sure all of those get uploaded to the UQ equivalent of the internet before he tosses the phone. The man is making sure to delete any that have /him/ on the thing, of course. And then, after a moment? Any potential shots of Jeanne, his partner in facilitating bullying.

This as it turns out has been a wonderful shopping trip for the leader of the Phantom Troupe as he walks out the front door of the mall.
Touta Konoe      Things escalate and they escalate alot. Before, Touta can even do anythingeverything just hits the fan and it's not good. Not good at all. The girls begin getting lectured after getting assaulted by Kitty, the man who instigated them seems to have vanished. Jeanne has found herself laughing at the situation...

Touta gets up from his seat as Jeanne gives her thumbs up to the mystery man and before anything can be said...

     *Slap*

A hand goes across Jeanne's face. It's quick and stern, and given by the person one would least expect. That goofy faced kid she's always telling not to get killed. Except he's not goofy faced right now, he's not happy, he's pissed. Really pissed and it shows on his face. He hasn't been this annoyed since the Santaga stuff. No, it's worse than that.

"It should be simple enough? Is this really that much of a joke to you?! Those are kids! They're only a few years older than the kids back at the base! So what if they made fun of you?! Is it that easy for you to go off?! I knew that you did violent things, but I always thought it was cause it was suppose to be just. Where's the justice in watching kids getting rallied into fighting someone they can't beat?"

He breathes in heavily for a moment ready to be hit in return for what he just did but he'll keep talking anyway. "Yukihime told you the first time you joined up that we don't do things to attract attention. She gave you the job to look after Kitty to make sure she didn't get in trouble. Did you ever wonder why...? It wasn't some joke for you to baby sit her, she was worried. Worried that if Kitty did something, that if she got caught doing some by authorities that they'd assume it was Yukihime. That people would think she was acting out of line, and then it would reflect poorly on the rest of UQ Holder..."

He doesn't have to say anymore after that. His face says it all that he's disappointed. She can smack him around till death if she wants but when she's through with him... He's gonna get back at Kitty. His eyes haven't changed from when he was just staring at Jeanne. There's no words for a long time as he looks at her, looking at the face of a girl who looks like she's just about ready to kill someone just cause a couple of teenagers got worked up.

"I don't know if the weak deserve protecting or not, but I do know that monsters like us shouldn't just lose control either...Both of you grab what you need. We gotta go back to the base."
Ritsuka Fujimaru The boy actually did it. He struck her! It's not a particularly painful hit or anything, but the surprise is certianly there. Jeanne stares right back at Touta as he goes off on her, maintaining a level stare at him the entire time. It's not until he finishes that she finally reacts, raising her hand and...

Stroking her chin while chuckling. "I was wondering if you'd ever show other emotions. Some backbone. I was wrong about you. A little bit, anyway." She chuckles softly, glancing back at the pink students briefly before turning back once more. "As for your questions... Yes. Yes, it is."

To be fair, was he expecting some kind of remorse? "Although... I'm disappointed that you still have the wrong idea of me, but we can't have everything we want." Jeanne sighs, then rests a hand on her hip while following along at a leisurely pace. "You forget that I'm the Dragon Witch, not a Holy Maiden. If you were expecting me to feel bad about pushing her into lashing out, then..." Jeanne pauses for dramatic effect, then laughs. "Sucks to be you. And Yukihime, if she really thinks something like /this/ is worth covering up."

Luckily for Jeanne, she has no bags to carry! She really just came to laugh at people. "If she's as powerful as you keep believing her to be, then she should be glad to have people afraid of her."
Rean Schwarzer And then things escalated /really/ quickly. Touta's friend rushed at the bullies and did a lot of damage for someone so small. Then again, this wasn't really new for him. He had a classmate who used her small size to her advantage when fighting...Though this was pretty different. But just as impressive.

And then Touta slapped the blonde woman in the denim and launched into a rant about how she was supposed to watch over their mutual friend. Admittedly, she deserved it for egging this on, same with the guy in the trenchcoat- where'd he go, anyway?

"He's right." Rean says, glaring at the blonde woman. "You can't just hurt people for insulting you. Besides, what did you even get from doing that? A good laugh for 5 minutes? If it wasn't for your lack of uniform I'd assume you were with those girls, because you're a bully too. " Touta's friend still looks incensed, like she's about to stab the next person who talks to her. She doesn't hurt Touta when he suggests they go home, though. Rean nods, giving the two a quick wave. "...I should be heading home too. See you later, Touta." And with that, he walks away.

As he tries to figure out how to get off this island, though, his mind wanders back to a certain incident on a certain winter's day. "'Monsters like us shouldn't just lose control like that," huh?' Rean thinks. He looks down at the bag in his hand and sighs. He's got a gift to wrap, and a sister to impress.
