Majima Goro     Kamurocho.
It's basically just a downtown Tokyo, when you get down to it. It's also incredibly pretty at night. The stars sparkle up above. The city is /gloriously/ well lit. The one downside is that the closest Warpgate to Kamurocho leaves Mikoto in the southwest corner of town.

TENKAICHI STREET
A faux shrine-style arch with red lights illustrates the street name. Signs for all kinds of businesses obscure the walls. No cars really drive down Kamurocho's streets, but bicycles are parked fairly often. People amble towards their homes or bars or wherever else they're spending time tonight. People stand outside of businesses trying to push pocket tissues on anyone who wanders by.

To be short, it's...it's Japan.
Sumiko Mikoto arrives, eyes looking up to the sky for a moment to take it in.  It's been a while since she's been in Tokyo, though it was her Tokyo.  Her backpack on her back as she hits the ground.  She is not in her magical girl outfit now, trying to blend in.

Let's see...Majima said to go to the North-East part of town.  With a sigh, she starts trudging that way.  She really does not need any surprises tonight, tonight has already been /a day/.
Majima Goro Music booms from nearby clubs. One in particular, 'Stardust', seems to be a remarkably popular host club.

In fact, as Mikoto walks by, a man's thrown out the door, just a few feet to her side. A purple-suited man walks out, dusting his hands off. "I don't want any of YOUR kind in my club!" "Yuya-san," A..staggeringly attractive host says, "...it's Kazuya's club, isn't it? Even if you're basically running it now.."

The man gets up, getting into a fighting stance. His sunglasses are adjusted. The purple hoodie he's wearing is a bit damp from the recent rains, having landed in a puddle. "Nobody talks to me like that!" He says, rushing forward to try to haymaker the bouncer/owner of Stardust.

This 'Yuya' fellow basically clotheslines him, before stomping on his chest while he's on the ground. "I said, 'Fuck OFF!'" Stomp. Stomp.

The man stops trying to get up, and Yuya wanders back into the club with the other hosts. The nearby crowds, who briefly stopped to circle around and watch...dully resume their daily activities as if nothing interesting happened.

Assuming Mikoto doesn't investigate further, and avoids weird side alleys--and boy howdy are there many, she'll come along to Taihei Boulevard. The main attraction around here is a truly staggering skyscraper to the east. That said, there are a few groups of suspicious looking fellows milling about, and some of them occasionally give Mikoto a look.
Sumiko Mikoto stops to watch the outbreak of violence.  Wincing as the guy gets his chest kicked in a few times.  Ouch, she thinks, as she walks away from the club's entrance once the violence dies down.  To be fair, it's not anything she hasn't dealt with before, and well...it's not like the guy who got his crap beat in didn't deserve it (presumably.)

Also, Mikoto knows better than going into alleys and getting near them at night.  She lived on the streets for more than she would have liked.  Her knowledge coming in and maneuvering through the city, avoiding fights and encounters, rather than forcing them.

She gets a few looks from the suspicious-looking fellows, and instead keeps her gaze low and attempts to bypass them to get towards the construction zone.  Though she does give the skyscraper a look for a moment, before forcing herself forward.
Majima Goro Yeah. There are a lot of sketchy people on these streets. Some just look like common lowlife thugs, in cheap hoodies and pants. Some are wearing shitty suits and look like wannabe Yakuzas. Some are wearing..slightly better suits. The real problem is, it's like they can smell fighting ability. One group suddenly breaks away, rushing towards the magical girl. The good news is, they're coming from the north--Theatre Avenue, and she can easily just rush down Taihei Boulevard to get away from them. Since she's not looking for a fight, that's easy enough.

They give up by the time she's made it to the other side of the skyscraper. There's one guy in her path if she goes directly north--he looks aggressive, in his incredibly shiny gold suit, but the alternative is going south or back the way she came. He's /definitely/ zeroing in on her, though, so it may require some serious jukes to get past him.

Meanwhile, the city continues along its merry way. It's like noone even cares about the constant presence of crazy fight-addicted criminals.
Sumiko Mikoto has the jukes, using her athletic training to easily make the difference and getaway.  She moves to a light jog and then back to a fast walk, only to see that there is a gold suit thug walking towards her.  This time she's not given a lot of choices.  With a sigh, she holds her hand out, and with a flash of ~magical girl~ sparkles, she is in her outfit.

"Not interested," She says, thrusting the blade into the ground as she summons a phantasmal animal.  A literal tiger appears on the street to attempt to pounce the gold suited guy so she can just run past.  The less she has to spend to avoid a challenge, the better.

Seriously, what the hell is this Tokyo?
Majima Goro     The man in the golden suit is not nearly as terrified of the phantasmal tiger as Mikoto might have expected.

However, it turns out he's also not nearly as tough as Mikoto might have thought. The initial pounce into a wall is enough to knock him silly, as cash just seems to flow out of his pockets. If she stops to check...this is easily 50,000 Yen. Easily.

At any rate, she eventually finds herself at a parking lot, covered in signs for..some host club or another. In fact, judging by some of the faces, many of these hosts look like the ones she saw over at Stardust on her way here. It doesn't matter which way she goes from here, however, because now...er...

Well, the good news is she can clearly see the construction zone to the north. Heading to the northeast part of town reveals Majima's instructions were about right. There's a bunch of shifty looking homeless people all squatting around a flaming barrel in a small little 'park' next to a public washroom adjacent to the construction zone. There doesn't seem to be any other entrance. All she has to do is walk into the men's side of the washroom--and one of the homeless people picks up a cell phone, talking into it. Looks at Mikoto. Nods. Then they pointedly look away.

...there's a goddamn door behind this bathroom stall.
Sumiko Mikoto actually DOES pick up the yen.  She might not have access to her resources while she hides out, so...yeah there is that.  Man if she can get money beating up people along the streets this might be easier than she thought.  Walking away as another flash of sparkles returns her to normal clothing, she goes back to a light jog.

The homeless people around the barrel cause her to start walking forward, keeping her gaze down, until she gets a nod.  She returns it and starts walking more briskly in.  Opening the door and stepping into the restroom.

Huh!  A door!  She opens it and steps through, apparently, it was called purgatory..?  Isn't that a Christian concept?
Majima Goro Not just yet. It's not Purgatory just yet.

What she finds is a construction zone. Even this time of night, there are men in hard hats milling about. They look a little bruised up, and some of the machinery looks damaged, like there's just been a...sizable tussle.

One man, a mild-mannered looking fellow in a blue shirt, comes running right over, bowing down to Mikoto enthusiastically.

"Ah! Hello! Boss said you were coming! I'm Nishida-san, Vice President of Majima Construction! ...at least, I guess I am." He sounds just as nervous as he does every time he's on the radio.

He walks towards--a subway station stop? If Mikoto follows, and assumedly she isn't about to waste a bunch of time milling about with Majima's boys...

Well, it looks like a normal subway station for about thirty seconds or so. Where the 'track' should be has clearly flooded, and on that water floats faux red lilies with glowing lights. And then...more pressingly, perhaps, the docks.

This is a bustling underground. Nishida stays close to Mikoto, almost protectively. There's a railing and lush red carpet along this strange--it's definitely a red light district. The walls of what was once surely a subway line have been replaced to look like an old, traditional village. Women in scanty clothing pose seductively from within the 'buildings'.

"...Majima said to reassure you, you aren't going in any of these. They..came with the place." Nishida smiles awkwardly. This is awkward. Everything about this is awkward.

It's damn pretty, though.
Sumiko Mikoto remembers the voice of Nishida, returning his bow with one of her own.  "Yes, I remember your voice, Nishida-san!  Thanks for meeting me out here and the short notice of this situation.." She says, apologetically.  Walking behind the nervous man, her eyes wander, quickly figuring out what's going on here.

Oddly, she's not as flustered or put off as one might expect of a young lady with her apparent background.  "Yeah, I figured.  Majima isn't that kinda man.  You don't need to worry about me.." she says, with a sigh, "I kinda grew up on the streets of Tokyo, well...A Tokyo before I became a Magical Girl."

She does agree it's very pretty, looking at the surroundings as she follows behind Nishida.  "Nice to finally meet you in person, though!"
Majima Goro Nishida continues to lead Mikoto through. While the path splits off to a...foreboding looking tremendous metal door, with the aside, "...er, if you like fighting, maybe you ...no, maybe that's too much even for you..." He cuts himself off.

Eventually, over the cries of 'Onii-san' from the girls in the 'village', they come to the end of the line. "Apparently, way back in the day when they were digging out this line, they hit a hot spring. A man bought the place out from the government because it was impossible to use it as a subway at that point, and Purgatory was born," Nishida explains.

"...then, for some reason, Majima got it from him? I never really understood what happened."
He leads Mikoto into a..frankly, the outside looks like a traditional Daimyo's castle. The inside is anything but.

Marble floors. Roman-style columns. Granite walls, a single chandelier, and a massive aquarium at the end that embeds in the wall and wraps around the end of the room, and a single, seemingly unassuming desk.

"Boss said to have you wait here for him. If you need anything, let me know."

He goes to watch by the door, letting Mikoto to her own devices.
Sumiko "Hm?" she asks and then gives a shrug at the question.  "Not particularly.  Fighting's more of a 'got roped into having powers, might as well use them' kinda thing," She fills in.  When they finally get to the castle her eyes just widen.

"Wow," she says, surprised that such a place exists down here.  "That seems to be a common explanation for things that happen around your boss, ha.  Things happen, and they vaguely go his way, so hey it's a win, right?" She says, more awed than anything.

"Alright, I can wait here," she says, dropping her backpack on the floor against a wall, and moves to look at the fish tank.
Majima Goro "Heh. Yeah, kinda." Nishida rubs the back of his head, before pulling out his phone, making a phone call.
"...Hovercar chase? ...elves? Acid-spitting ivy?...What's all this about? ...oh, some guy wanted a video game system, and you were helping him? Oh, okay, that makes more sense, Boss."
Even his facial expression shows a surprising amount of comfort at that. "Mikoto's here safe and sound, yeah. I'm watchin' her. ...Yes, I'm watchin' the door! That's what that George guy said to do! Watch the door, remove all the decorations, and wait forty-eight hours. ...Thanks, Boss."

The fish tank is...well. Depending on Mikoto's Knowledge: Marine Biology, she may or may not be able to tell that a concerning number of rare fish are in this tank. It's regularly cleaned, at least. This glass is sparkling inside and out.

Time passes a little bit. Nishida gets another phone call. "Yes, Boss?" He pauses.
"Oh, yes, of course. Things are still fine. --what's on fire?"
"Yes, I'm still standing guard. See you soon."

There are a few more calls like this, until finally, after what must have been an hour...the doors swing open. Majima is wearing a hard hat, his snakeskin jacket, and black leather pants, and he's swaggering in just like he swaggers into everything else. "Ahhh, you made it, eh? I knew it'd be fine."
So fine, of course, that he called Nishida every ten goddamn minutes to make sure she was fine.
Sumiko Mikoto's Marine Biology is non-existent, because you can only put so many minor powers down before Prisicilla dawns the hat of punishment.  Instead, she just enjoys looking at the fish, because she has a natural affinity with animals.  She knows enough to be dangerous, and how not to get eaten, but that's about it.

She does look up from her tank every once in a while when he gets a phone call.  After the third one, she asks, "Majima again?" She says, with a giggle.  After twenty minutes of fish watching, she grabs a book out of her bag and starts reading.  It looks like a homework assignment.

Twenty minutes later she's tapping on the glass of the tank again, deciding that it's more interesting than her book assignment.  By the time Majima walks in, she's actually back at the book, looking up and placing it back in her bag.  She picks the whole thing up and keeps it over one shoulder as the man greets her.

"Hey.  Yes, I did, your directions were good and Nishida-san kept me safe.  This is...a pretty amazing place!" she says, looking around again before her eyes settle back on him.  "And...sorry for asking for your hospitality like this." She says with a bow.
Majima Goro Majima offers a shrug. "Ehh. It ain't half bad, nah. Last guy who owned it had to go legit, but he didn't wanna leave it unattended, so here I am, eh? Nehehe!" He taps his chest twice. "Anyway, this ain't the first time I've had to keep someone safe in a weird place for a few days while heat dies down," He explains. ...His pause is a little weird, there, actually, as he draws out a cigarette to smoke. "I ain't gonna tell ya ya can't go 'round Kamurocho or nothin', but this sounded pretty serious. So if ya wanna stay in here, we can getcha takeout or somethin', ah?" He offers with a smile.

"Anyway, hold on. I wantcha to see something. Get close to the desk."

Assuming she does, he steps to the desk, and..slams his head on it, hard.

...nothing happens.

"...aaagh!" He complains, slamming his head on it a few more times.

...After an almost uncomfortably long pause...there's a click. A circular depression forms in the floor, and..the entire desk descends down an apparent elevator shaft.

The trip culminates in a single door, behind which is...a lot of monitors embedded in a wall, and a single seat hooked up to a keyboard and mouse. The monitors show Kamurocho. All over Kamurocho. They're constantly changing angles--there's a small counter on one screen that announces that '9983/10012 operating'.

"...If anyone gets in this town...we're gonna know about it."
Sumiko Mikoto returns the smile to Majima, listening and nodding.  "That'd be fun...the last time I was in Downtown Tokyo, well mine, it wasn't a fun time." She says, a bit sadly.

She stands near the desk when asked, waiting.  Jumping a little when Majima slams his head into the desk.  She gives him an odd look before it happens a few more times.  Finally, with the click, it makes sense.  The decent is another awe-inspiring thing, looking around her until finally, they come to the wall of monitors.

"Wow," She says impressed, looking around at them.  "That's...a lot of monitors.  This place seems to have everything..." she continues, again, in a tone of wonderment.  It does, however, make her feel much safer.  "The Space Corgi said something about assassins from something in his world."

Just remembering that place was enough to cause her to go a little pale, "Tonight was not a good night."
Majima Goro Majima cackles a bit, sitting down at the chair. "...wasn't mine. Came with the place." He explains. "...guy who used to run this place paid the local homeless to put his cameras up all over the city. Information broker, y'see. Knowing everything that was going on in town...well." He tilts his head.

"Ya can guess that makes his job easier, right? Heeeh!" His eye opens widely, but his expression fades as Mikoto keeps talking.

"...well, I ain't sure what y'all were up to, but I'm sure it was some crazy shit. All that seems to go on outside of this place is crazy shit, all the time," He says.

"So, yeah, feel free to swing by any time ya need. Heh. ...if /he/ was 'round, probably he'd deal with it himself for ya. Ah, well."
Sumiko Mikoto finally leans up against the desk, hands held behind her as she lets out a sigh.  It was a terrible night...

"Something about a black ship doing terrible things, but people being caught on it and taken from their homes.  The other people just...couldn't stop shouting at each other about how awful they were," She says, shaking her head.

"The entire place was just big, and awful...people were glowing black and going crazy.  Then exploding randomly." she looks a bit queasy thinking about the exploded psychers again.

"Next thing I know is that Staren blew open a hole in the bridge and sucked us out.  Then we were on his ship...which in hindsight was a good thing because then the ship just...vanished into a dark portal thing."

"And the ghost...the ghost girl just..." she shudders, "Something was squeezing on my chest to just be near her...and she wanted something from me.  Well, before Staren blew the hole in the side of the ship."
Majima Goro      There's a long, slow wink from the ex-Yakuza. He leans back against a wall, pulling out a cigarette and lighting it. He looks downward as he listens. He doesn't speak for a long while.

"...heh, and all I did today was beat up some goons in an office buildin'." He sighs, shaking his head. "...I ain't gonna pretend I understand any of that crap, but it sounds like ya got a lot more problems than ya did when ya woke up, without doin' anything to deserve 'em," He concludes, taking a drag of his smoke.

He blows a long exhale off to the side. "So do I gotta beat up some weird space assassins for ya?"
Sumiko "Yeah.  Sounds about right," she says, though she's returned to her normal coloration.  "I'm less concerned about me, but I am sure that if the assassin came it'd cause a lot of trouble...and my guardian could get caught in the way.  She was a friend of my father's...and I'd be upset if anything happened to her," She says, "She's been keeping me stable after his death."

"Well, /we/ gotta beat up some weird space assassins.  If you think I'm letting you have all the fun..." she says, with a grin.  "'Sides, gotta at least try and earn my keep if I'm gonna lean on you for help," she continues.
Majima Goro Majima taps some ashes off his cigarette. "Heh. Arright. We can do it that way. Nehehe!" He takes a breath, after that. "'sides, I'd like to see somma these bigshots survive on the ol' streets of Kamuro, huh? Course, ya probably just took a taxi from Tenkaichi all the way over here, so ya probably didn't see anythin' too rough."

Wait, was that a fucking option?
Sumiko "Oh...uh...I didn't do that," Mikoto says to Majima.  "I did see a few crazy things.  Some guy getting kicked out of a club for 'not liking his kind' and then getting his chest kicked in..."

"Oh and then some people started creepy approaching me around the skyscraper.  I juked them, but I had to transform and fight a guy in a gold suit.  Well, I say 'fight' but I just sicked a tiger on him and he went down."

"Man, I should have waited for the cab," she shakes her head, "I guess I wasn't feeling too safe waiting around.   The streets were a bit different than what I was used to, but not so different I couldn't find my way around.  It's been a while since I had to do that."
Majima Goro Majima rubs his chin. "Ah, yeah, the rich idiots in gold suits. Could not /begin/ to tell ya why those guys spoil for a fight." He shakes his head.

"Anyway, if ya were just 'round Tenkaichi, that sounds like ol' Yuya over at Stardust. Host club. Ya know, kinda place ya might wanna check out in a year or two on your own, right?" He grins, leaning his head back.

"Anyway, when I said goin' down to the convenience store meant beatin' up some goons, I wasn't kiddin'. This place's full of hotheaded morons with muscles tween their ears," He says. "And that's when things're calm."
Sumiko Mikoto doesn't know about that, but she doesn't deny it.  She does remember the pretty lady, but not sure what she did there besides remind the guy who actually runs the place.  "Yeah, that sounds right, there was a very pretty lady with him," she comments.

"Yeah, I'm starting to realize this.  This is way more violent than my Tokyo.  It's like they could feel I'm capable of fighting and started homing on me.  It's weird."

"Oh, the gold suit guys are rich?  That explains why he dropped so much yen," she muses.  "Well, at least they're good people like you here."
Majima Goro There's a nod. "Heh, yeah. That's...some weird crap. I ain't too up on what's goin' on there, but the owner ain't been...really doin' anything for months. Ain't my problem, though, so..." There's a shrug from the ex-Yakuza.

"But yeah, while sometimes they'll get on some innocent's case, usually these guys'll search out someone who can put up a decent fight so they can make 'emselves out to look like badasses. I'm sure it sometimes even works," He suggests.

"And yeah, it ain't like back in the day that they'd have tens of millions of yen on their dumb asses, but the suits are still the same stupid shit as they used ta be."

He pauses a moment "...I ain't sayin' ya should go 'round huntin 'em or nothing, but..."
Sumiko "So basically just tough guys proving their tough.  End up looking less tough more often than more tough," Mikoto says, "That's something that happens even in my world.  Though on the topic of loot drops, "Ehhh...I'm not for wasting resources when I don't gotta."

A pause, "Besides I got fifty-thousand off that one guy so I think that'll hold me for a few days."
Majima Goro There's a nod. "...heh. Yeah, ya got the idea. Sometimes they got some bite to back 'em up, though, so be careful. That said....eh. I'mma go hit the hay. Nishida'll probably have an air mattress or somethin' ready for ya. If you wanna just watch the city for a while, go for it. I ain't stoppin' ya," He says, stretching out a bit with a few steps around.

"We'll getcha somethin' better over the next few days, if we gotta. Maybe take ya 'round for some of the food options we got in this city, eh?"
Sumiko Mikoto turns her eyes to the monitors, and when Majima mentions hitting bed, she stifles a yawn, "I am starting to think that's a good idea..." she says agreeing with him.

"Alright...that sounds good.  Thank you again...and for being so kind to me." She says, with a bright smile.  It's a small thing, but she does feel safe, and that goes a long way for her.
