Cordelay Levail Cordelay waits in the entry to the arena, having just sent out a general challenge: "I am Cordelay Levail, daughter of the dragon. I will be waiting in the Shrine of Adversity for anyone who wishes to test their skills against mine. Any and all challengers are accepted." The thought of a good fight brings a smile to her lips as she checks her weapons, eager for an opponent to arrive.
Lory Thumper      And soon enough, an opponent does! ...is it an opponent? It's a pretty short bunny person wearing police riot gear and a pair of pistols. She looks around as she enters the as yet undefined arena, then smiles when she sees Cordelay. "Are you the daughter of the dragon? I'm Lory Thumper, MPD." She gives a salute. "I'm pretty new to the Multiverse, so I'm trying to face as many opponents as I can. Gotta be prepared for anything, right?"

She steps forward after that and offers a paw-like hand to shake. "Nice to meet you. I hope I'm a good enough challenge for a dragon."
Cordelay Levail "A pleasure to meet you, Miss Thumper. I am Cordelay, and I thank you for accepting my challenge." Cordelay adjusts the arena's settings, the nondescript default area morphing into a grove surrounded by flowering trees with pink petals floating gently through the air. "I've little experience in the Multiverse myself, so hopefully we will both learn something from this spar." She draws her twin blades with an elegant flourish and assumes a combative stance, her eyes glimmering with excitement.
Lory Thumper      Lory looks around at the flowering tree grove, her eyes widen a bit. "Ooooh. Pretty! I hope fights don't really happen in a place like this though. From what I've seen, all these beautiful trees would be destroyed." she says as she puts her riot helmet on and tightens the straps. She draws both pistols and smirks lightly. "Alright, you look ready to go, so..."

The bunny eyes the swords and apparently decides that staying as far away from them as she can will be best. She takes off at a full run, circling around Cordelay. There is a soft hum of charging energy as she aims her twin pistols before trying to pepper Cordelay with several near light speed shots.
Cordelay Levail The barrage comes faster than Cordelay expected, her attempts at evasion less than effective as a result. She grits her teeth as most of the bullets scythe through her leather guards and trickles of blood drip from the wounds.

"Impressive weaponry." She gasps. "And you seem quite skilled with them. But I hope you don't think mere distance is an obstacle to me." She grasps one of her swords by the chain protruding from its hilt and swings it mightily, using the blade like a flail to strike at her lapine opponent from an unexpected range.
Lory Thumper      The sword flail also comes in faster than Lory was expecting. Not that she was expecting a sword flail at all! "Woah!!" She leaps to try and avoid it, but it still slashes along one of her legs. She winces and grits her teeth as blood is drawn, then flips forward to land on her feet again. "Well, I was kind of hoping." she says with a bit of a sheepish smile.

She keeps moving though. Speed is really her only defense. She still keeps at range for now, but rather than firing more shots she holsters a pistol and pulls a few palm-sized discs off her belt. With a flick of her wrist they go flying through the air like ninja stars, and where they impact they explode.
Cordelay Levail This time Cordelay is more prepared for the attack, flipping backward elegantly to avoid the grenades. Of course the effect is ruined somewhat by a few of them striking her on the way back down and surrounding her in the resulting explosions, and when they fade the blonde is left coughing for a moment as she regains her breath. But that pause lasts for only a moment before she rushes forward like a bullet herself, weaving from side to side in case more projectiles come her way. As soon as she's within range she swings the chains of both her swords with the aim of entangling Lory's arms, hopefully leaving her open to the barrage of kicks aimed at the bunnycop's midsection with graceful yet devastating precision.
Lory Thumper      Lory blinks in surprise as her arms get wrapped up. Cordelay comes flying in toward her and Lory ends up having to guard with just her legs. She does pretty well, but even countering the hits against a strong opponent hurts pretty badly. The bunny is sent bouncing away and manages to slip out of the chains in the process. She is starting to think she won't be able to win this one with just her speed.

So, she pulls a pistol and another couple of grenades. She throws the discs, which explode like the others but...instead of fiery danger they explode with foam! Foam that quickly hardens to attempt to trap and slow down Cordelay. She follows that up with a few shots from her pistol. "Not bad! I've faced a couple of people in here already, but I haven't been pushed this hard this fast so far!"
Cordelay Levail Expecting more explosives, Cordelay throws herself to the side in an attempt to dodge the discs. The lack of pain as they impact her leather leg guards is rather surprising... but not as much as the foam that bursts out of the projectiles and quickly hardens around her legs, dragging her down to the ground faster than she had anticipated. Her arrested movement is something of a double-edged sword, however, as some of the bullets following the grenades fly over her while the remainder clip her arm and send more crimson droplets flying.

"I have yet to face anyone wielding the sort of armaments you carry. It's rather fascinating to see how the denizens of other worlds fight." Cracking and prying away the hardened foam with her swords, she suddenly swings a chain along the ground to trip Lory up while acrobatically flipping up and coming down on her with the other sword to skewer the bunnycop!
Lory Thumper      Lory is tripped and goes bouncing along the ground, but with expert grace of her own she catches herself and manages to avoid being skewered! ...well, mostly. Now she has a gash in her left side to match the one on her right leg. The bunny yelps from the hit, then mmphs. "I can't say I've fought a sword user at all, so we're even." she says, starting to look a bit tired. She has to find a way to pin down her opponent, or there is no way she is going to win this.

But, if the foam doesn't do it the bunny doesn't really have a lot of other options. Still, with Cordelay in close already Lory decides she may as well make the best of it. She pulls her riot shield from her back and moves in close, delivering a few quick kicks and close range shots.
Cordelay Levail Lory's sudden switch to close range confuses Cordelay for a moment, but that moment is just long enough for her to lower her guard. By the time the riot shield is up in her face it's already too late for her to dodge, forcing her to forgo her usual defense for a series of desperate parries with her twin swords and attempts to use her limbs to protect her vitals. The result is predictable - the series of shots and kicks break through her inefficient guard more often than not, leading to the blonde warrior staggering back and gasping for air.

"Ugh..." She shakes her head briefly to clear the dizziness from her head before glaring at Lory with narrowed eyes.

"I commend you for achieving the advantage over me. Enjoy it while it lasts, for it won't last long." She lunges forward again, this time attempting to vault over the bunnycop's shield and wrap the chains of both swords around her neck, her lethal intent boiling over as she tries strangling her opponent for as long as the chains can remain in place.
Lory Thumper      Lory can't help but smirk a bit at the glare from Cordelay, but the comment that she achieved the advantage makes the bunny blink. "What? I don't really think-" she starts to say, only for Cordelay to vault over her. The bunny cop instinctively leaps forward to avoid what should be an incoming hit. She doesn't realize the chains are there to catch her until they are already hooking under her chin. With a strangled grunt Lory is pulled back, struggling as her breath is cut off.

She has almost blacked out before she manages to free herself, and is left coughing on the ground for a few moments before she forces herself up to keep from getting caught in a follow up of some kind. "I take it you really don't like it when someone actually gives you a challenge?" she coughs out, now a bit angry herself.

Lory knows if she wants to win this she needs a hail Mary, but...she really doesn't have anything like that. She just has her pistols and her grenades. And her martial arts. That worked pretty well last time, so she tries again. Only this time, she gives it all she's got. She runs in close with both pistols in hand now and beings a blinding series of rapid punches, kicks, and gauss pistol shots. "One thing I already learned here! You better be ready for a challenge! Or even a defeat!" she exclaims over the staccato of her attacks.
Cordelay Levail "I am the daughter of the Dragon. For my honor and that of my lord father, I can never give anything less than my all!" Cordelay smirks wickedly as Lory comes at her, obviously intending to repeat the strategy that backed her into a corner in the first place, and leaps into the air with perfect grace. Turning her gaze to the bunnycop below her she swings both her blades by the chains, their arcing paths set to intersect at Lory's neck - a blow that, if not for the Shrne's ability to negate any injuries suffered in battle there, would undoubtedly be fatal.
Lory Thumper      Lory tries to avoid it, but the unpredictable paths of chain weapons seals her fate.

She is very glad for the Shrine's abilities, and is on the verge of hyperventillation after feeling a death blow for a few moments before the arena actually resets. She checks her neck quickly, then works on slowing down her breathing while she just...sits there. This whole fight doesn't make sense given the things she's experienced so far. She knows she isn't as powerful as most elites in the multiverse, but her speed and skill have seen her through so far.

This time she was completely outmatched. She is already running through the fight again in her mind, wondering where she messed up or where she was outmaneuvered. And how the heck her Bunny Barrage could do nothing at all!

She also isn't sure about someone who has such a killer instinct and seems to enjoy it to boot. "W-well...you certainly gave it your all I'd say." Lory says a bit shakily while finally standing up. She pulls her helmet off and shakes her ears out. "Well, thank you Miss Levail. This has been a good reminder that I can never stop working to get better."
Cordelay Levail Cordelay lands as the arena shifts back to its default state, breathing hard and turning to Lory. "Such is the nature of the Multiverse. I must thank you as well - I gained valuable experience from this battle. Your weaponry and your skills are a sight to behold." She makes her way over to Lory and extends a hand to help her up. Her smile is gentler now, that of a serene young woman rather than the battle-crazed dragoness she had been a few moments before. "And, ah... I hope you'll forgive my... intensity. I've spent most of my life on battlefields, so I tend to lose myself in the thrill of combat." She looks somewhat embarrassed as she speaks, actually.
Lory Thumper      Lory is a bit slow and cautious about taking the offered hand, but the gentler smile and the embarrassed look get her to at least take it. Once she is back on her feet she looks up at Cordelay. "Hmm. I see." she says to the explanation. She still looks a bit on edge though, and her eyes haven't left Cordelay since the arena reset.

"So...you come from a world of widespread medieval warfare?" she finally asks to avoid awkward silences. "My world hasn't seen true warefare since the Predator Purges."
Cordelay Levail "Indeed. Some regions are wracked more by war than others - my homeland, for example, has been torn apart by warlords all aiming to become its next king. My lord father is among their number, in fact." A quizzical expression overtakes Cordelay's face as she responds with a question of her own. "What is a world without war like? I've never known a lasting peace, so I can only imagine what it would be like."
Lory Thumper      Lory nods lightly as she listens. "Huh. Your dad is a draconic warlord? That might explain it..." she says, then blinks at the question. "Oh...well, I guess..." She thinks for a moment. "There isn't death and destruction everywhere? I've only learned about wars in history, but that really seems to be the main difference. No thousands of people dying in battles for basically no reason other than pride or one country's desire for another's resources. But, real peace is kind of an illusion. I mean, there's lots of peace true but there are always troublemakers trying to take advantage of people or hurting people for no real reason. I'm a soldier in that war. The war against anarchy where we do our best to protect innocent people from the dangerous people who operate outside the law."
Cordelay Levail Cordelay's expression softens at the explanation as she murmurs, "That sounds like a better world. A world where tragedy and suffering isn't the everyday for most people. I would like to see my world become like that." One sudden giggle later and she adds, "Of course, I would hope something like this Shrine would exist as well. Those of us who enjoy battle need something like this to sate our taste for it - something where we can fight to our hearts content without killing anyone. Thank you for expanding my view, Miss Thumper. I've enjoyed both our battle and our conversation."
Lory Thumper      Lory's ears perk up a bit as Cordelay says that, and the bunny finally smiles a bit for the first time since the fight ended. "Is your dad that kind of leader?" she asks. She hasn't met Cordie's dad after all. "Is he fighting for that, I mean?"

She then nods in agreement about the Shrine. "I don't really like fighting in general, but this place takes off a lot of the pressure and lets one enjoy it even if one doesn't usually." She nods again at Cordelay's thanks. "And thank you, too. Can't have my head getting too big!" she says, laughing a bit.
Cordelay Levail "My father seeks to gain power. What he intends to do with it is something I am not privy to. But eventually I will inherit his position and any power he has acquired, and I will turn it toward creating the peaceful world I desire." Cordelay offers a handshake to Lory with an air of awkwardness. "Let us work toward peace wherever we find ourselves, for our own worlds and the Multiverse as a whole."
Lory Thumper      Lory shakes the offered hand more readily this time and nods in agreement. "Just don't let the power go to your head like a lot of dragons from stories and stuff." she says, then makes her way out of the arena. "It was nice to meet you!"
