Tomoe SAO Earth
Alfheim - Cait Sith Zone
While things were simmering over in Japan and the JSDF was making its final preparations to hit the largest of the monster strongholds. There wasn't much to do at this point but to wait things out for the call to assault it. Yet back in Alfheim there had been persistent rumours of a world boss spawning has been flying about. This one predates the merging of reality to the game worlds and vice versa. Yet it had never been implemented it seems the time for it has finally come.

The call comes out from Alicia Rue of all people contacting for help that the boss has spawned and it's special event rampaging through what was normally a generally safe location. The creature is hidden by whipping tearing winds as it moves through the Cait Sith town, some brave souls are fighting it.

They vanish into the clouds and winds that surrounding the demon there's no sign of them being killed. Though are screams coming from within for a little bit. Then they go silent shortly leaving only the howling winds, what's more, is NPCs are running as well. They, however, are shouting and screaming as they go screaming.

"The demon it has escaped its imprisonment and it comes for us all."

At this point, the winds are not hurricane-force stong and normal people would have to fight to keep from losing their balance. Even elites would notice this and they would see Tomoe whose hair is flailing wildly in this storm. She will try to flag people down while passing out party invites to anyone who is seeming here to help that she already knows.

"We need to form up and try to pull it out of the town!"

The Salamander woman at this point has her shield out already as she draws her blade and will start heading to the center of the storm.
Rean Schwarzer Rean braces himself against the wind, accepting Tomoe's party invite and heading in deeper with her. "Any information on what this thing even looks like?" Rean shouts over the wind. It's too hard to see, but given this tempest, odds are it's in the center.
Nagato     It's been a long while since Nagato's been out and about. Leading the fleet from the back, keeping radio silent, however when the call that a major town in the Cait Sith area is being assaulted she decides that it's now when she'll get her activity back. "Link Start!" she motions in an area of the town where the Battleship isn't seen and soon enough, Tana makes her way towards the area in question. "Eh, Tomoe's here already?" One party invite later and she'll show up on her HUD.

Fighting against the wind, the Cait Sith's giant axe is pulled out of inventory and equipped, "Oy, Tomoe! Alicia! I'm here to help!" she calls out, the younger voice speaking from an experienced mindset. "Tana's on the scene, though I wasn't aware of any reports of a storm running through here." Tana makes her move towards Tomoe, digging her axe into the ground to give a bit more weight on her so she doesn't get flung around by the wind.

    "So, what do?"
Athela Valemore 'World Boss'

This is a phrasing Athela is not really familiar with. But that doesn't matter. Someone has put out a call for aid against some kind of attack and that is all the reason a knight needs to respond. To glory!

Initially the winds catch her in the face, but does little to slow her arrival down as she hunches against the back of her valiant steed. This is one of those times it's actually a blessing that her terrestrial mount is not the standard horse. The Gogoat, between stubborness and sturdiness, is barely phased by the winds, hooves digging in all the harder to keep pace until she finally tromps up near Tomoe.

Athela hops off, giving her moss-wool side a light pat as she does. "Good. Now stay here. Protect the people taking shelter if need."

Then as she walks over she draws Resolute Blade, resting the sword-glaive across one shoulder at the elongated hilt. Winds still whip through her hair, fluttering the ponytail a bit behind her, as does her cloak. But she refuses to be budged, standing defiant in the winds. "Just say the word and we shall striketh down this blowhard of a fiend!"

If that's not an 'Accept Party Invite' I don't know what is.
Silica     Silica is here. Cait Sith territory is her territory, after all. She's even on the front lines, using her pets to shield and guide the fleeing NPCs to a safer area. "Keep moving, the response teams will be here soon. Make sure you guide the children and keep hold of them so they don't get blown away." she yells over the din of the monster's stormy aura.

Silica's little party of pets forms up around her, the smaller ones in front, while her two larger ones, the wyvern and Dracotiger, act as backstops so the lithe little catgirl doesn't get blown away herself. "I don't know much fire magic..." she looks back at her Wyvern. "You'll have to do a lot of the heavy lifting for me..." she says, earning a trill, then a deeper growl as its eyes shift up to the Boss.
Ishirou I4 was very curious about this 'digital' world.  The fact that he could bring his BODY there, instead of being stuck in a 2d shooter to do his hacking was a great upgrade from the norm.  However, his sightseeing would have to wait.  The wind tearing through the city was enough to make most people fall over, luckily he was a bit more sturdy than most.

"So wait, you want it to leave the city?  Hmmm...I think I have a plan," he says towards Tomoe.  "By the way, I am I4, you can call me that our Foureyes, it's the nickname people call me," no they don't.

Regardless, he turns towards the large creature and points a hand up at it.  A small box with arms near him floats around.  It seems to take measurements and then chimes in with a beep.

-Hacking will have an effect on this world.  In conclusion, you should utilize it to give yourself an advantage.  Caution, this may cause digital entities to become more aware of your presence.-

"Yeah yeah, I'll make sure to stay ahead of the game.  Let's see..." he says, and shoots a strange barrage of light from his hand, filling up an invisible status bar until he could hack into it.  There is a brief sense of vertigo for him, as he finds himself in IT'S digital space.  Roaming around until he finds something.

"There we go, that should do it.." he says and attempts to damage the part of the code that controls the monster's direction.  Trying to reverse it so that it'd try to get away from the city, instead of inside of it.
Linehart      It's one of those things. You get a call for help, or you find somebody asking for help, or you see somebody in need. You do the quest. You get the reward. Then you go on and do it again. And again. And again. Eventually...

Well. Maybe there was no end to the road the Mirror Knight had set himself on. Maybe the end of the road was simply that it continued to stretch on without limit, that it just went and went and went, until finally you died.

Regardless of how far there may be to go, however, there is in front of him now a problem that needs solving, and he is the sort to solve it.

     Not that he looks it.

No, quite the opposite. He looks the sort responsible for things like this. Nearly seven feet tall and clad in armor as black as the shadows, a cape of smoke trailing off into the distance, and a spear dark as the deepest pit with blood-red runes etched all across it, the Mirror Knight looks for all the world like an encounter from one of these things, like a world boss that takes a small raid to kill. Every footfall through the town is a heavy one, a slow, methodical thump, inexorable as the creeping night, rhythmic as the hammer of a blacksmith upon an anvil. Around him floats an ominous boss music, the low-pitched introduction before a pitched and heated and pulse-pounding crescendo. It rises over the wind and the game's own native music, marking him as an intruder rather than a part of it.

The Mirror Knight is absurdly strong. The winds push against him and he simply pushes back harder. They part around him, crashing over him. The cloak of smoke whips about him. It looks like it could come undone at any minute, but it holds.

That glowing, cross-scar visor pushes forward into the whirling winds without pause. He doesn't seem to care that he's being battered by sticks, by stones, by chunks of building torn asunder. He marches past Tomoe, directly into the whirling wind, without hesitation.

A text box pops up. It's probably popping up for the boss, too.

I am Linehart, the Mirror Knight. My Sphere is Evil Knight. I am the advent of your destruction. Know that this dark spear will be your doom.

     He's talking to the event.

He brings up his hand. He's low on MP, but that's fine. He'll make do.

Eyes that pierce the gap beyond time - Omnis Intuens!

A popup appears around Linehart. It's like an old-timey game window. Elemental weaknesses and resistances fill themselves out, along with whatever the monster looks like. At the same time, a second popup appears next to him, a map that starts filling itself in around the area in classic JRPG style.

It's completely visible to everybody else.
Staren     Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's... no wait it's definitely a plane!

The Star Hawk dives out of the sky, Staren getting as close as he dares to the source of the winds before transforming his machine into a 40-foot-tall humanoid and landing in the street.

"If it won't leave the town, I'll give it a reason to come after me..."

No visual, eh? Staren turns to other sensors; Radar, infrared, perhaps a magic source he can pinpoint. If he can just narrow down where to direct an attack, he can give it a reason to engage them...
S6     S6 will never admit to it, but much like her companion Inspector, she inwardly is very curious about digital worlds as well. What kind of significance would that have for an android like herself? Would that make her truly indistinguishable from humans? Would anyone notice? Would anyone /care/?

    That's not important right now.

"If our mission is elimination, than its defenses will need to be removed," The lady android steps forward. In a spray of golden sparks, twin weapons materailize on her back-- A normal white-bladed katana, and a jagged-edged axe. I4 is already doing his hacking thing, and so she-- as a Striker-- gets more up front about things. For someone this heavy, wind is a problem, but not as much as it could be, and she lands a few paces shy of Linehart.

Clinging to S6's shoulder, her POD chimes, -DATA RECORD RECEIVED.- The updating map and scan data provided by the Mirror Knight flickers across the inside of S6's visor, shunted to a corner for easy reference. Stepping up beside the monstrous Knight, the woman remarks, "I am Striker Six. S6 will suffice. It appears we are the front line."
Nagato     Taking a peek over this new person's shoulder, by flying, the map is showing the boss location. "Weak to fire?" ... oh how she wished she was in her battleship rig. High explosive ammo would do the trick, but alas, she's here as a small catgirl. "Well then." hefting the axe, she does what any proper DPS does in this situation where people are discussing how to deal with things. "EXCUSE ME! TANA'S COMING THROUGH!" she shouts then rushes off towards the boss!

"No time to really formulate a plan here. Time to get in, get messy and just mess this thing up!" there's a skill flash "The name's Tana! Time to greet you with the chopper! Violent Spike!" She /leaps/ into the air then swings her two handed axe around like it was nothing, before diving down right into an overhead chop... she's hoping to at least hit /something/, she did get the location from Linehart's map at least, she should be in the right direction!
Kirito     When Alicia Rue ends up sending a message to him directly, Kirito knows it's serious.

Call him, and he just might come.

The Black Swordsman swoops in from the South, no doubt having flown all the way from Sylvain. He swoops into the city streets and down towards where the party's gathering. Given the situation, he has already equipped his second weapon - a golden, highly familiar sword of legend rests across his back, crossing the black Vox Unitas.

He joins the party with a smoothly practiced poke at his A.R. HUD when the box appears. When Linehart's dialogue starts appearing, he also reaches towards it - realizing only a second later that it's not part of his HUD. That gets a blink or two. His eyes are drawn towards what he intuits as the source. "... What... the heck?" He murmurs. The boy's seen some weird stuff in the Multiverse, but this approaches the weirdness of Sburb.

    That shit was WEIRD.

The winds blow him this way and that though on his approach, and eventually Kirito's forced to land down near Linehart, banishing his wings as he gives that map display a hell of a stare. "Now that's a handy Skill! Makes my Searching look silly..."

The Black Swordsman reaches up and draws Vox Unitas with a smooth motion, looking to hone in on his enemy and plan his next move. A world boss is nothing to sneeze at.
Tomoe Tomoe says "From the looks of it, if you have fire attacks of some sort use them Rean."

Tomoe is going to be moving on already as more people arrive she notices Tana has arrived.

"We got a world boss that finally has made up its mind to show itself we're going to need to get it out of the city!"

Alicia meanwhile seems glad for more help.

"I'll leave the fight to you while I make sure we don't have any tourists getting caught up into this."

It would be bad for business after, all right?

"Right I'll be heading in Athela and we need to try and lure it out of the town before it does much more damage."

She wants to know did someone kite this thing in here or did something else happen she doesn't know and will have to find out afterwards. Slicia is ready to support the party and has brought one of her flying companions with her, which should help a lot as the Wyvern would be able to keep up even in these winds.

I4 has a plan Tomoe nods.

"If you think you can do it? Do it!"

I4 sets about to hacking the world, he's able to get into the code it's very complex, but thankfully the boss is far less so than many of the things here, he's able to change its direction and the monster will start to move away from the town. This is all right and good it's working but somewhere in the vast system that now is fused with the world? A Report is flagged something has become aware of I4's existence. Also, the boss is bumped him up to near the top of the threat list as well.

Linehart's arrival catches Tomoe by surprise and then he's already casting a spell a scan spell. The monster is weak to fire, strong against wind, it's at nearly full health and it also is under the effect of a buff called Wind Guard.

Tomoe makes note of I6 being here as well she's heard of her at least by the chatter on the banter band and more backup is never unwelcome to her.

Kirito has arrived which is another thing Tomoe makes note of. Kirito falls into shape and Tomoe is about to say something. That never happens as Tana does a thing, she rushes in at the world boss.

It is moving away from the town as Tana makes her move she does not directly connect with the boss but she does disrupt the winds about it for a moment.

The boss can now be seen. The boss seems to be a strange mix of what looks like machinery and crystal. With winds howling about it a massive clear torso can be seen and within is the missing party that just attacked it along with many other things it's sucked up.

The Boss Heath Bars appear and its name can be seen.

The Dread Deamon Vac'uum

The winds will pick up again as it directs its attacks upon all those gathered against it. Howling winds, slash and cut at the part, as for I4 and Tana? There is a roar like some kind of angry god, and it tries to /suck/ them both in.
Linehart      Well.

     Nothing to it, then.

S6 introduces herself to him; he already introduced himself, but he gives another text box of, I am Linehart, the Mirror Knight. My Sphere is Evil Knight. to her before he starts walking forward. He stands still long enough for people to get a good look at the map and the Intuens data, but other than that, he's already taking the lead, striding forward with exactly that JRPG Boss Stride, with the cloak whipping around him. The music kicks up into the first part of a high-speed, desperate battle music, the sort that one might hear if one was fighting against a final boss in a video game - that frenetic, imposing beat.

The creature has revealed itself, so Linehart doesn't bother waiting. Waiting and delaying and hesitating means letting it do as it pleases.

The howling winds try and cut and slash. They simply...don't. Linehart holds up his gauntleted hand, and the blade of wind crashes into it, and he closes his fist down upon it. The blade struggles in his grasp like a dying snake before it's crushed into oblivion.

A number pops up over his head.

                                     0

     Then comes the response.

Linehart's spear comes off his shoulder as he raises his hand. Fire leaps into his grasp, a spark igniting around his palm. His cross-scar visor turns a brilliant red.

The blaze at the heart of the burning sun -FIAT IGNIS!

From the sky, columns of fire pour down. They smash into the demon. They are the fist of an angry god, as if the sun itself took offense to the monster and sought to quash it with its blazing knuckles. The blast is intense. The light is intense. The column pours down for a good ten seconds, filling gaze and horizon alike.

     And then it's over.

Not a single person, not a bit of landscape, not a single building, has been damaged. Only the monster.
S6     The android woman flips her weapons forward-- leading with the axe. The blade cleaves into the ground in front of her, wrapping her hand around the haft and using the jagged blade to anchor herself. Her uniform flips wildly, tearing at the hems. Jaw set, she braces into the hurricane gust. Feet dig in, and she hurls herself forward, leaving the axe in place-- only to jump off of it.

Linehart's spell goes off, and in the flash of flames, the android hurls herself above and ahead of him. No sooner does that pillar of flames dissipate is S6 in the monster's figurative face. The axe she'd discarded dissipates into golden sparks, reappearing in her outstretched hand-- which she brings down with all of her weight in a descending attack.
Ishirou That was some crap!  He notices his threat jump, but not only that there was a flag that went off.  He wasn't expecting that!  He thought that this was a natural thing...but...

That's something to look at later, right now there is...oh god he's being sucked up!  I4 spins around, but at the last moment manages to gain control of his position and throws himself out.  Landing hard, but under his own power as opposed to it's.  Flipping back to his feet, he frowns.

Ok time to see if he can turn that damn field off.  Another surge of energy fires from I4, this time attempting to overload his defensive skills, and attempting to simply drop the windshield as well as weaken its own defenses.

"Ow, can someone cast heavy on me?  I don't like flying when it's not under my own power."
Silica     And there goes the Boss. Silica dives away behind a building, her pets scattering as well as that burst of wind comes screaming out. It luckily catches none of her brood in its fury, allowing them all to regroup and engage. Silica mounts up on Chitan, taking to the sky on the War Wyvern that the Cait Sith are famous for, while the rest of her pets disengage for the time being. "You're lucky there's an apostrophe in your name, or I'd be making so many horrible cat puns at you right now." she grouses at the boss.

The others are all charging in, so Silica breaks off from the frontal assault and flanks around to the side. Her eyes close, and she begins to chant in the Alfheim not!Norse. "seír fylla gullin öl, helgask allr eitrioo, rísa folk." a golden light flitters out, and strikes Rean in the back, applying a regeneration buff to him, while the Cait Sith banks out and around, angling in and making a trilling whistle. Chitan's mouth opens, and a barrage of fireballs erupt, blue-white against the stormy sky, aiming to strike where there aren't any friendlies in the line of fire.
Athela Valemore This world is weird, what with all the 'displays' and what not. Athela isn't going to let it bother her too much though, especially when the thing is turning its attention to them and amplifying it's effect on the area.

With a grunt she lowers Resolute Blade from her shoulder, flipping it as she does so, and stabbing the point of the sword into the ground to anchor herself against the rising winds. They still pound against her, kicking up debris against her armor, but it keeps her from losing her footing. "I reiterate. 'Blowhard'." At least whatever I4 did that she doesn't understand has turned it's attention away from the town and onto them.

"We stand in defense of this land!" She literally shouts to be heard over the winds. "Come face us, and meet thy fate, fiend!"

She clenches her free hand, thrusting it up and then making and almost swinging motion with it. He 'magic' takes over, as several jagged lances of ice are hurtled towards the wind-deamon, taking advantage of the exceptional force of the attack to cut through the raging winds.
Staren     Linehart's already pinpointed it. Staren's frantically coding something to add Linehart's map data to his as long as his cameras can see it. And the news comes in that it's weak to <"Fire damage? Right..."> and Staren begins hatching a plan... although the sight of people trapped inside the monster gives him pause.

It's just enough to distract him at the worst time. The vaccuum starts to suck him in. Metal screeches as it strains against the force, and the giant war machine stumbles forward and into a building, destroying part of it and taking covering its front in scratches and dents that could be turned into weak points by the right attacks. Staren grunts as the cockpit shakes him around.

Once the vaccuum assault lets up, though, he puts his plan into action. The mecha regains its footing. The pack behind the right shoulder unfolds into a massive sniper railgun, as long as the machine is tall.

                          [Anti-Wireless Railgun 20%]

The Star Hawk plants its feet firmly. The ground shakes as laser drills in the heels cut narrow holes in the ground, and heavy metal pylons slam into place to hold the machine steady.

                          [Anti-Wireless Railgun 75%]

Struts with thrusters on them unfold from the weapon and spread out, angling themselves to counter the shaking caused by the high winds. Staren takes aim, mentally nudging the reticle in his HUD over a projection of the beast's shape (now that it's been seen) at the location Linehart's map indicates. Staren aims a bit lower than center of mass, not wanting to hit the trapped adventurers.

                          [Anti-WirelFIRINGilgun 100%]

Capacitors in the base of the weapon dump gigajoules of energy into rails inside the barrel, creating a magnetic field that hurls the shell inside down the barrel at several times the speed of sound. Beyond the physical realm, enchantments layed upon the machinery imbue the departing projectile with magic power to further enhance the accuracy and might of the destruction about to ensue. Thrusters across the mecha and the weapon blaze brightly for an instant as they counter the recoil. The shell crosses the distance to the target at such ridiculous speed that air molecules don't have time to get out of the way -- they are pushed out of the way and ignited glowing-hot, but this friction is infinitesimal compared to the kinetic energy at play here. Whatever the shell slams into is in for a world of hurt! But as if the impact wasn't enough, nanoseconds later, magic machinery inside allows a store of fire-aspected and water-aspected elemental energy to mix, creating a powerful secondary explosion (hopefully) INSIDE the target! There is a lot of HIGH-ENERGY PHYSICS going on! Also, hopefully the fire element part of the explosion counts for that weakness hit!

At the speed of human perception, all of this is instantaneous. There's a flash of light, a very loud BOOM echoing across the battlefield, and then suddenly there's a horizontal pillar of fire connecting the muzzle of Staren's sniper railgun to the impact site, which is exploding.

And then there's a loud HISSS and steam is vented from the back of the gun as it's cooled to prevent damage.
Kirito     Kirito is nothing if not daring, quick-witted.. and prone to desperate last-minute plans. When the winds kick up into vicious lethal blades, he reasons that dodging them isn't really possible... and so he doesn't try. Instead, he moves like lightning to position Vox Unitas horizontally at his side and aim straight at the grand boss. Emerald light and windy power gathers around his blade as it illuminates with a Sword Skill Activation... and with a quiet grunt he lurches that weapon forward and--

    WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!!

Enshrouded in a vortex of his own wind, Kirito rockets across the distance, blasting straight THROUGH the windy gale but dispersing far less of it than he would've hoped. The cutting winds slice and dice into his limbs and across his front, drawing nasty damage decals even as his Sonic Leap takes him in for a nasty thrust-slash-pass maneuver!
Nagato     Tana blinks... she missed?! And there's that angry god roar that sends the fur upon her ears and tail in a fuzzy mess. "Okay no no no! We're /not/ doing this today!" she shouts as the wind picks up and tries to pull her in. The wings flare out from her back and she tries flying against the wind to at least keep some of her ground, but with everything /else/ being sucked in, it's like she's playing bullet hell against debris...

    And losing.

Things smack right into the cait sith and send her flying back towards the demon... though an idea pops up in her head. "Well, if you wanted me closer, then I'll be happy to oblige!" She starts to twirl around and around, letting the thing pull her towards it as the cait sith starts up a Whirlwind attack with her own axe! Fortunately it's not a wind element attack to her knowledge, she forgot to check... "Getting dizzy..."
Rean Schwarzer Rean continues to brace against the wind, it now getting windy enough to start cutting into people. He hears Silica saying something in another language, and the energy flow feels similar to getting hit with the Earth Pulse orbal art.

The screen Linehart bings up is intering. Rean wonders if it's similar what people see when using scan-type orbal arts.

Anyway, the boss was weak to fire, and Rean had a lot of that. Once Linehart's spell is done and everyone else is out of there, Rean follows up with a spell of his own. Blue light surrounds him for a moment, and once the orbal art loads, a rain of flaming rocks drops onto the boss.
Tomoe She sees the numbers over Linehart's head again, she is going to have to ask the knight about this from the text box speaking to the numbers he is screaming JRPG to her and she's very curious about it. The Mirror Knight's power proves to effect the World Boss. Flames rain down from the heavens and only end up harming the boss causing it's health bar to drop visibly to all those who are fighting it.

S6 it the next one fight working in consort and using the sort of maneuvering trick alien to the game that spawned it. The axe connects with the boss causing a jagged red line to appear in it and S6 would likely know wireframes when she sees them.

I4 avoids the fate of being sucked up by the boss, he avoids being sucked up by the boss and launches another attack on the boss slamming into it and it seems to be messing with the shield a good bit the winds stop for a moment about it making an opening for other attackers to have an easier time of it. As ever the boss' HP gauge starts to drop even more as the attacks keep on coming.

The boss makes replies to Silica's banter it just looks at her for a moment and she gets it right on with the face as the fireballs are doing a fair bit of damage, some of it in part to I4 clearing the way.

Athela's ice does connect with the boss doing some damage but not as much as she might expect, still the wind guard been up nothing might have got through.

Staren is busting out some very old and very serious hardware the old weapon forged in the Union's Armory so long ago spools up and charge and then Staren lets the shot rip it blows right through the boss. The shot goes in one side of the boss and it rips out the other leaving glowing red wireframe rents in the boss.

Kirito has been able to make use of all the chaos to get some attacks in even as he gets cut up by the boss and again its hp is chipped away against. During this time Tomoe is making her move as she strikes out with several fire blasts of her own.

Tana scores some very nasty hits even as she gets dizzy she hacks into the boss making an opening for Rean as well who moves in and opens up with several flaming rocks which fall upon it damaging but it does not die.

At this point the boss lets out a terrifying roar which sounds like a vacuum cleaner on steroids and a good deal of hate.

The sonic attack send a massive shockwave at all the combatant who will have to deal with it before the boss can start something else!
Ishirou I4 gets a warning about the oncoming attack, he dashes back and away from the boss, before hitting cover so that the sonic roar washes over everything.  Luckily, he was insulated enough so that the sonic sound didn't break his ears.

Stepping out from behind cover he looks up towards the boss and considers something.  Well, he could change the boss's attributes...what if...

A grin comes over I4's face before he starts another hacking attempt.  This time, a ball of energy flows into the Boss's data scape.  He aims to try and reprogram the boss's elemental strengths and weaknesses.  Specifically...

Flipping them.  So that it is weak to wind.  While in a wind storm.  He also turns off the IFF for the wind wall when it comes back on.  Well, if he can't turn it off, he can make it work for them.  He also uses this time to try and cause damage inside the code, aiming to try and hack it's HP again.
Silica     Silica can't evade this attack, instead she hunkers down against Chitan's back, riding out the sonic blast with her ears pinned down against the head. "Ow ow ow..." Cait Sith hearing is very acute, so that sonic blast hurts all the worse, but she's not out of the fight yet. The Wyvern wings over, dropping a few dozen feet before flaring wings out to escape the blast zone of that sonic attack... and then Silica hears a call over radio. "Sounds good... I'll start tchanting anyway, this takes a sec."

"Seír slíta fimm grunn vindr. Asynja burt lumm grungnr alaf maas yorum!" Once I4 gives the clear, she unleashes a fussilade of wind blades. Twenty lashing out to home in on the boss from multiple angles, each empowered by the extra incantation.
Staren     The sonic ROAR! ROAR! ROAR! ROAR! tears into and through the building in front of the Star Hawk, and into the mecha itself! It starts shaking apart; armor plating twists and misaligns, exposing cracks through which metal bits that hopefully weren't too important fall. Parts of the front plating actually tear themselves apart where they were already damaged!

Inside, Staren screams in pain as blood runs out of his ears, until the painkillers kick in. He catches his breath and breathes heavily, gripping the armrests of his chair tightly.

The massive sniper railgun folds back up. It worked, but it overpenetrated. Staren will have to try other things.

<"Get back!"> Still using what's left of the ruined building for cover, the Star Hawk holds out its left arm and launches a trio of missiles, which spiral and twist and zigzag through the air as they try to avoid being targeted and shot down, then zoom in at the demon from three different angles and explode. Do explosive shockwaves count as wind attacks?
Athela Valemore Athela Valemore has no intent on letting this monster's rampage continue. The ice projectiles were more she didn't want to get too close until she saw what her allies were putting into the ring. With that information at hand now, she can properly do her knightly duty.

She pulls her artifact weapon free of the ground and starts marching towards the daemon.

The daemon emits a howling scream to rival the storms brewing around it.

Athela swipes down with her weapon, the divine defenses of the weapon slicing -through- the shockwave, not missing a step in her approach as the blast parted around her. That sword is kind of rediculous at times. Granted it is blessed by a Legendary demigod, but still! Parrying a sonic wind??

The march switchs to a quick sprint as Athela picks up the pace and raises the weapon in both hands, then a burst of water from her heels launchs her into the air. Similar swirls of elemental energy whips up around her, gathering in the weapon. "The tides shall wash away your presence from this land!"

The churning elemental waters engulf her as she surges down at the demon, hitting with all the force of a crashing tidal wave upon her foe!
Linehart      The Mirror Knight continues advancing.

S6 goes surging forward to hammer it with her massive axe, crashing against it with all her mechanical strength. Silica fires fireballs around the huge figure at the target, Rean joining in with flaming rocks from above. Athela goes in for a thrust of ice that carves upwards into the monster as Tana's whirlwind axe crashes against it. Staren looses his railgun and Kirito goes shooting over the Mirror Knight's head.

Through it all, he's simply walking.

When the shockwave comes and crashes into the party the Mirror Knight stands unmoved. The only thing that ripples his his smoky cape. It clearly hit him - oh yes, earth moved around him, dust and dirt and debris from the buildings and discard items fling away from him as if he was the center of an impact - but he is unmoved, uncowed, unbent, unbowed.

                                     0

I4 makes the beast weak to wind. It pops up on the Intuens screen, flipping the elemental affiliation for all to see. It looks nothing like Sword Art Online's interface at all - it's the old-timey JRPG interface, and-

-and the weird monster even has a sprite. That's kinda cute. Maybe Staren tying his cameras in did that. Certainly they put everybody else on the map.

It's weak to Wind now. Alright, then. Linehart raises his hand again, still walking forward at that slow, unstoppable pace.

The storm that tears the firmament asunder - Fiat Ventus.

From on high, clouds begin to swirl, dark and terrible clouds. In an instant they are a full-fledged hurricane; water pours down, lightning dances in the sky, crackling bolts hit the ground. The hurricane winds pick up furiously.

The tornado touches down atop the monster that everything goes really topsy-turvy. It's subjected to a barrage of wind, a crushing barrage that presses inwards rather than cutting, a crushing force that smashes into the thing and chokes it into the ground.

Staren fires. The missiles shoot into the tornado, unbothered by it. Silica's wind blades join the assault, undeterred. Again, only the monster seems to be affected.

And then the storm just disappears.

Not even any water. Nobody's clothes are even slightly ruffled.

     Damn that's weird.
S6     The axe cleaves into the monster. The result... S6 should have expected that. But the inner skeleton of the enemy model still surprises her. She hesitates, glancing at the exposed wireframe before the howling wind hurls her away. She bounces once, sending off a spray of sparks, before tumbling to all fours and sliding to a stop.

Toes dig in. The axe, cast aside, disappears in a flurry of sparks-- and does not reappear. Rather, in her outstretched hand what appears is a double-edged longsword appears, sporting meny engraved segments.

    "Pod."

    -ANALYZING.-
        . . .
              -VULNERABLE COMPONENTS LOCATED. INTERFACE UPDATED.-

Inside S6's visor, a single point on the wind demon highlights itself in golden yellow, within the wireframe and support structure. Eyes narrow behind the opaque black visor. She shifts, digging her toes in and then hurling herself forward amidst the spell and weaponsfire. As she closes, S6 whips her new weapon back. Golden rings of runes materialize not just around the hilt, but around each segment of the blade. With a metallic *CHING*, the segments decouple, extending into a meters-long whip of sword-edged sections.

And then the android woman hurls herself right into Vac'uum's throat, surrounded by swirling razors.
Kirito     Kirito's onto this thing's attack patterns already. There's a reason he chose to get up close, even with the messy complication of all the people using cannons and lasers and fireballs on the thing.

By swooping nearly behind it using his Sword Skill, he's harder to target with most of those area attacks. This tactic proves successful. He guards against the ensuing shockwave as best he can, suffering a hard slam to his whole body but largely remaining in place and toughing through it.

He can't take much more than that though...

But hopefully he won't have to. Now that he's up close...

"You're mine now!" The Black Swordsman snarls boldly. With the fury of battle shining in his eyes, the boy draws his second weapon. Holy Sword Excaliber immediately illuminates with a crimson stream of flame and he lunges in for the beast's back with a rapid flurry of explosive slashes. As the Skill finishes, Vox Unitas then burns into activity and takes over where Excaliber left off. In this way, Kirito unleashes a stream of five different Fire-based Sword Skills in no time at all!
Nagato     Tana shakes her head a bit, getting rid of her skill lock and her dizzyness all in one go, floating backwards from the thing, only to go tumbling around and around in the air once that shockwave hits, further disorienting the catbote. "Nngh, okay, no, you know what, I've had enough of you." she grumbles, pulling her axe back a bit. She hears the command and apparently the weaknesses have been turned around on its head... "I'm not well versed in magic, but let's pour a lot of energy into this one!"

Norse runes appear around the cait sith, green light coalesces as she speaks. "Tear them! Five Green Winds!" as five large boomerang-like blades of green light shoot out from the coalcesed light, aiming right towards the boss monster, "How do you like a taste of your own magic, huh?!" she taunts at the demon, moving towards the monster to get a better shot here soon with her axe!
Rean Schwarzer Rean slaps his hand over his ears as the sonic wave rings through the air. Ow. Unlike before, Rean doesn't have anything windy. So yeah, it's time to just smack it with his sword. He notices the people stuck inside the thing's torso, and hums for a moment. Ok. Rean draws his sword and runs towards the beast, and jumps, impacting the crystal with full force.
Tomoe I4 is just playing havoc with reality if he didn't have certain parties' attention before he does now. He inverts the elemental properties of the boss flipping its weakness and strength. Now it's own powers are going to cause it issues, worst for Vac'uum as it's not smart enough to figure out just what I4 did to it other than it's been damaged. The damage is very noticeable and at this point, the first two of it's five HP bards are empty as the assault continues. As for I4? He's very much on a list somewhere now.

Silica has som seriously murderous intent as she makes sure I4 is clear and let lose with wind magic now which will just ravage the boss all over slicing and dicing all over it's going to damage it for some time. Staren is not letting up even as he gets hit he's going to hit back and he uses what's left of a ruined building fo cover as he brings his mech into play the blast doesn't quite count as wind by how the game was made but it at least does non-elemental damage and doesn't count as fire. The damage continues to add up as more and more of the responder are just not letting up on the world boss.

Ahtela is proving to be quite adept at harming the demon as she hacks her way into the shockwave and keeps going after the boss with her use of water or ice? While it does not make a weakness hit on the boss the damage isn't blocked either.

With Linehart it's a clash of JRPGs of ages the dawn and the very far future meet, and Linehart magic is just messing up the boss further causing in one portion of the boss to deform from the force of the wind spells that's slamming into it. Yet nothing else around or inside it is harmed at all.

S6 gets a very crazy idea. Sometimes crazy ideas work and this is one of those times as she ends up getting swallowed by Vac'uum it was not made to deal with this the attacks cut up the monster's inside doing massive damage to it. It lets out a digitally warped cry from all the damage it's taking here and it's not looking very good also as S6 gets inside she'll see four adventure who have been sucked up earlier.

Kirito comes now the Black Swordsman legend is far from over here as he calls out the monster letting lose. Kirito having a seeming lack of wind attack just beats though the monster's raw fire defences and still does damage just form the pure savagery of his attack upon the demon. Which leaves Tana the axe cat as she put to use a bunch of wind magic which savages the demon further it's hp bars have been reduced to the final one and if someone is paying attention to Linehart's scan? They would see a cast bar be interrupted something nasty just got stopped.

Rean doesn't get past the thing's crystalline hide, but the trapped adventure inside see it and shift their efforts to where he's trying to get out, hopefully, if this keeps up? They might just get out.

With the boss's big attack messed up, it's shifting to the next thing it can do, it's letting out focus tornados which will try to send people caught by them flying, though Tana, Linehart and Silica get it's attention as it sends a massive gust of wind from its limbs at them.
Silica     "I think I got the aggro!" Silica says, as she gets hit by a massive gust of wind. It catches under Chitan's wings, and sends the pair rocketing back into a nearby building. Slamming into the wall and crushing straight through it, and out the other side into a heap of pain. She slowly, painfully gets back up, before slumping back down, one arm obviously dislocated from the impact. "I... I can't keep this up... I'm sorry, I need to withdraw." The Wyvern lifts its head... lets out a half-trill, before collapsing and shattering into voxels, a single large scale left behind as a drop item.
Linehart      The tornado hits.

It's all crushing and ripping force. It hammers against him, destructive and shredding. It is the first time the Mirror Knight has had to stop, to stand his ground, to simply plant his spear against the earth and be *unmoved*. He stands there, his arms clenched tight against the spear. Beneath the gauntlets are white knuckles. Beneath the armor is a man taking a battering. The shadows rattle. The cape whirls. The Knight is not broken, not bowed, but he certainly is stopped in his tracks.

Little by little, he starts to slide backwards.

Dug in as he is, it leaves a trench in front of him. It drags him backwards, away from the monster, three trenches in perfect parallel - two feet and one lance, digging through the earth. The battering, hammering winds bend armor. They push against his shoulders in a most unnatural manner, threatening to snap them both.

     The Mirror Knight persists.

     Then he starts walking.

Though the tornado beats against him, he puts one foot in front of the other. Though the spear holds him only a little, he puts one foot in front of the other. He uses it as a walking-stick, as a measuring-rod, as an old-time cane, dragging himself up the tornado. The battering must be fierce. It must be painful. It must hurt tremendously. But he keeps walking.

                                    364

And then he is through it, in the eye of the storm.

The red-scar visor flares to life, a terrible red gaze that casts a terrible red light upon the beast. The map closes. The scan closes. It's no longer necessary.

     And now, the final curtain.

It is not light but darkness that gathers around his hand. Raw, impossible shadow whirls about him. He has little MP, but the battle has given him enough time to recover at least a bit.

And now he will expend it all.

The night that proclaims the time of extinction.

The world goes light, but for the sky.

The party, the monster, all are standing upon a plane of white light. Above, the sky is full of stars, of galaxies, of whirling, perfectly-clear distant worlds. It is a beautiful sight, a sight unseen in worlds full of pollution or modernity, a crystal-clear image of the universe.

     The lights start going out.

One by one, they disappear. Then faster. Then faster. Then faster still. An onrushing darkness, a wave of dying starlight. An encroaching end. A sense of panic. Soon, the shadow ripples through galaxies, and they go as still as the night. It washes over suns. At the last, the sun itself goes dark, and the party is left alone on the white platform, staring at the infinite void.

                                  FIAT NOX

And then the platform is gone. The creature, at the heart of it all, vanishes into a crushing, onrushing, primordial dark, as the end of the universe collapses down upon it, the hand of God squeezing the last light from the world, leaving only the party to witness the final moments as the creature collapses into a pinprick of light.

And then it ends, and the world reasserts itself, and all things are as they were. Not a single star is gone. Not a single light is gone. Not a single thing was harmed but the beast.
Ishirou The terrible wind finally catches I4 flatfooted.  The wind tears into him, and then smashes him into the ground and drags him across the ground until he stops in a heap.  There is some visible sparking, various systems damaged as he tries to regain control.

The POD starts listing off systems that are not working, but either determination or the fact that S6 is stuck inside the thing forces him to push himself.  Finally, on his feet, he sends another barrage of data into the creature.

This time, he just attempts to completely tear apart it's defenses and systems, attempting to leave it open for the others to finally put it down.
Athela Valemore Athela Valemore plunges into the demon, rebounding off in a cascade of watery impact to hit the ground and skid backwards a bit with the landing, holding her sword-glaive out of the way of her 'hero' landing with one hand.

Almost immeadiately her divine intuition goes off as the whirlwinds are released, and Athela realizes she's still too close to completely evade them.

Instead, she kicks off the ground and charges right into the fray. Grabbing Resolute Blade in both hands she hefts it into a swing, and uses that momentum in tune with her aquamancy to spin herself around as well, a vortex of elemental water churning up and surrounding her as well. The water spout collides with several of the twisters, pushing back and hammering at Athela, but eventually she slams her way through with her own centrifugic force dulling the impacts some at the cost of the strain on her to keep it up and spinning.

The whirling dervish of water and blade doesn't stop there, propelled by tidal force towards the demon to tear into him yet again, and let the whirlpool-like draw of the vortex strip more away from the boss so S6 can get those people out of it.
Nagato     The wind catches the Cait Sith and it sends her plummeting towards the ground.. tearing up the Cait Sith's digital body with red lines here and there before she's slammed into the ground, dropping to her knees and huffing like she was out of breath. And with Silica being forced to withdraw, she turns to the demon and hefts her axe. "Alr.. ugh, alright. Enough is enough!" she shouts, picking herself up, "You.... you are done!" she yells as she picks up speed, the angry cait letting out a loud yell, stumbling here and there as she picks up speed.

The Cait Sith's axe glows a bright white as she spins around, hopping here and there before she leaps and smashes that axe into the ground with a heavy shockwave erupting from it towards the demon. Pillars of energy explode out of the ground on the way towards it, damaging everything in its path and hopefully exploding right under there in a forceful manner!

Meanwhile, Tana's stuck, kneeling down, panting and reeling from the effort put in, it probably won't take much to put her out now.
Staren     A tornado is flung towards Staren! He's able to make his mecha leap aside in time, but it tears the half-ruined building he was using for cover into rubble.

And then everything disappears. The stars are strikingly beautiful. Staren's world is no longer polluted or as heavily inhabited, but he grew up next to a leyline that outshone all but the brightest stars.

Staren can only gawk for a few seconds, though. As Linehart's attack continues, Staren's mech draws its laser rifle, lines up a shot, and just unloads, converting electricity into intense, armor-ablating light as fast as possible! The gatling railgun attached to the arm also fires, like a tiny, autofire echo of the attack from before without the magic. Unfortunately neither of things are fire, but if Staren can pour enough non-elemental into the target, it has to go down, right?

As the world itself appears to go out, and the universe itself seems to collapse in on the boss, Staren winces. Geeze, that was dark (pun not intended.) Those visual effects have to have been created by SOMETHING, whatever Linehart's deal is. Who came up with COLLAPSING THE UNIVERSE as an attack?!
S6     S6 finds herself in the Belly of the Beast, so to speak. Surrounded by horrifically mangled walls and four adventurers who came here before her, she pauses to examine them. With a series of metallic clicks, the segments of her Serpent Sword reconnect, though continue to shine with rings of golden light. The POD beside her chirps.

    -HOSTAGES AT ACCEPTABLE HEALTH LEVELS.-

"Good. We're getting out of here."

Wind blasts up from within, and S6's sword rams into the creature's insides. She grabs onto it to hold herself steady, and much to the monster's likely chagrin-- does not move.

She releases the Type O Serpent Sword, and it promptly disappears in golden sparks. Her katana sweeps forward, burying itself in the inner wall. The blade twists, then carves itself in a circle. S6 hurls herself against the opposing wall, then flips herself forward-- landing feet-first against the weakened section to try and knock it loose.
Kirito     It was seriously a matter of bad timing. Kirito realizes a bit too late that the creature's Elemental alignment changed mid-fight. Scowling, he nevertheless carries through with his attacks... and rapidly flitters backwards, using a brief manifestation of his wings to put a good ten feet between him and the creature after all of that.

Predicting its attack pattern, the Spriggan extends Vox Unitas out before him... and the blade gleams blue. He whirls it into a rapid blurry spin until it more resembles a shield than a sword. The wind bullets that come his way slam into the strange defense and are dispersed with a mighty display of shredded magic. Just as the blast's clearing though...

"HUUUUUUUOOOOOOAH!!" The Black Swordsman erupts forward, both blades glowing. Brilliant streams of blueish-to-violet hues surround both of his weapons and rise up across his whole body as he intones roughly, "STARBURST... STREAM! It's over, Vac'uum!"

Diving in, he becomes a blitz of ferocious strikes, each criss-cross of his blades made with thunderous power. Huge plumes of energy - pure special effects it would seem - follow his weapons and are cast off in every direction with every impact as he keeps pressing further onwards with slash after slash!
Rean Schwarzer S6 offers to bust out the people trapped inside, and Rean nods even as he can't get through. the people trapped inside are heelping too, though. "Ok, I'll see if I can waken it some more from-" Rean is interruppted, caught in the whirlwind, spun around and dragged on the ground for some distance. "Ow..." REan mutters, staggering to his feet. That was going to hurt in the morning. He charges at the crystal again, trying to shatter the prison again.
Tomoe The dread demon Vac'uum is not long for this world as the attacks are still coming. Silicia gets out of there before the boss can try to go after her again and this may be the best call. Then comes I4 who has been ruining this boss;'s day and he helps to keep ripping into just how this thing functions stagging it for Linehart as he unleashes the power of the JRPG cutscene and Tomoe just gapes again at how pretty the spell is. True to its nature only the boss is harmed, not the land not the people inside it just the boss is harmed by the horrible power of a magical big crunch.

Athela is still fighting as she makes her own go against the boss one last time her magic and blade work is quite good at huri8ng the boss further cutting into it and helps to open the path to get S6 and the people inside the boss out of that nefarious situation they are in.

S6 is not staying in the belly of the beast for much longer. As she just blows the monster inside out and causing a shower of light shards from the section she's broken though. The hostages will be quick to get out of the hole that S6 has made they ain't going to stay here any longer than they have to.

The Boss somehow for a brie moment gets Wind Wall back up as Stren attacks him which just blunts his salvo of rail gunfire. It's not in vain however. The spell sputters out for the last time leaving him wide open to the remainder of the assaults from Kirito and Tana.

The fury of starburst stream and her axe are the last staw as the boss finally stops let s out one last terrible road and then explodes in a shower of shards of light which then vanish.

Hovering in the air where the boss is is the simple world.

Congratulations

Everyone who has an inventory would find money and drops within it. Those who do not would find a small pile of crafting items, money and a weapon of a class they can use at their feet.

Rather than one person getting the last hit drop due to I4's hacking had done something to the last hit bonus.

Everyone would also find they get the last hit item, the cloak of wind a very stylish cloak which almost seems to be made of living wind.

Tomoe meanwhile now looks around for a moment.

"Everyone still alive?"
Linehart      Linehart's inventory window opens. He scrolls through the new items, closes the window, and turns away from the boss. The Evil Knight shoulders his massive spear and walks over to S6. He gets almost aggressively into her personal space, right up against her sword-

-and there's just a little trail of smoke being sucked into the mirror like it's going down a drain. Once that's gone, there's nothing at all - no sign the Knight was even there.
Athela Valemore There's an audible *CRNCH* as Resolute Blade hits the ground, dragging through it a bit to help Athela arrest her rotary motion after pummeling into the boss. She leans on the sturdy weapon a bit afterwards to catch her breath. Fighting that thing... she can only imagine that's what battling the wind djinns of the ancient war of legendaries would be like.
"No worse for wear than usual from a formidal fight," she calls back to Tomoe.

Oh, loot? How peculiar this world is. Interesting.. interesting... huh.

She pulls off her own traveling cloak, and puts the new drop on. Immeadiately it flicks and flares out behind her, defying gravity and now lack of wind to do so. She grabs the hilt of her weapon to pull it from the ground, then takes a step forward and raises it up at an angle, the cloak billowing out behind her of it's own accord. It makes it look more dramatic, if nothing else.

Amusing.
Ishirou I4 remains laying against the piece of the environment he managed to prop himself upon.  Looking down as he realizes he actually got loot, including a wind flavored short sword and a cloak.  Huh.

Of course, when Mr. Tall Dark and not Garland walks at S6, he starts to try and get up until he just disappears.

"Ok, that was weird."
Nagato     Tana drops... finally. The Cait Sith's tail droops and ears flat as she lets out a whine. "Aaaaaaa... that one was tough." she complains in atypical fashion from what she normally acts like. She rolls over and looks at all the red lines on her body from all the damage and she sighs, "I think I need to get some healing done soon, any more and he would have knocked me right out!" she slowly moves to get back up, popping her neck slightly, a twist of her head sees the 'Congratulations' hovering in the air.

"Hmm, that's a good chunk of money... and neat drops too..." a peek is given, "Ooh, a wind cloak? I'll have to equip that later."

"Ah, umm.. is there anything else that I need to help out with today while I'm here?"
Rean Schwarzer Rean sighs, watching the hostages escape safely. He picks up the wind-themed katana and the cloak. Huh, just like the actual game. Then the Linehart disasppears into a reflective surface, this time S6's sword. "...Is he goiung to do that every time?" Rean muses aloud, thinking back to when the guy vanished into Gawain's glasses. He was a bit battered and bruised, but not much more than usual for an intense fight. It probably wouldn't be a problem anytime soon, right?
S6     Striker Six erupts from the heart of the demon as it dies, the circle cut free crashing down, with the android alighting shortly after. Straightening, she pauses with sword in hand when something reports itself inside her ESS. The POD chimes, and she nods once it's determined to not be hazardous.

Linehart approaches. S6 turns towards him. It's hard not to be tense with that cross-scar in place of a face, not that she can speak to that when her own face is obscured. He gets closer. She raises her weapon defensively-- Has the knight turned on them..?

Then he disappears into her weapon.

The POD chimes, alerting her that nothing is out of place with the sword she holds. Slowly, S6 lowers it, then releases it. The sword swings up and back to float behind her shoulders.

    "...Mission accomplished."
Staren                                 CONGRATULATIONS!

It reminds Staren of Aincrad too, although for him the memories aren't so unpleasant. He wasn't trapped in the game -- Aincrad was one of the things that convinced him to take part in Multiversal affairs again, to believe he could make a difference despite the neverending war between the Union and Confederacy.

Still, the meaning it has to Tomoe, Kirito, and Silica isn't lost on him.

The Star Hawk kneels down and Staren climbs out to collect his winnings and check on the others; he puts the cloak on over his flightsuit to see how it looks. "Everyone alright? Where'd Alicia Rue and the natives go?"

He remotely speaks through his mech's loudspeakers: "ATTENTION! THE DEMON HAS BEEN DEFEATED! YOU CAN RETURN TO THE CITY NOW! BUT WATCH OUT FOR DAMAGED BUILDINGS!"

Nevermind that one of them is MORE damaged because he brought a freaking giant robot and it got knocked into a building. <_< >_>
Athela Valemore Athela Valemore also picks up the weapon drop now that she realizes its there. Heh. The cloak distracted her.

A reserve sword is useful to. If nothing else she can use it from practice.

"Let us get the locals back into their homes." Except the broken ones.
