Tetra     Zelda raps gently at the door to King Rhoam's bedroom. "Father, can I speak with you?"
Link Rhoam's voice echoes through the door. "Come in." When Zelda opens the door, he's sitting in his reading chair, holding some book by a Zoran histiographer.
Tetra     Zelda steps inside, wearing a simple white dress. She pulls up a chair. "Thank you. I've been thinking, lately. About the Gerudo... you know how I feel about their situation, of course. About them." She folds her hands in her lap. "... Why haven't we offered them a better place? Even if the people object, even if we put them in the least hospitable patch of land we have... surely it's better than leaving them in that cursed desert. And if we did it now, as my first official act... perhaps it would soften King Ganondorf's heart. If only a little."
Link Rhoam, dressed in robes, sighs. He looks at the page number, then closes the book, placing it on his lap. This is probably his least favorite discussion in the world, but the fact it's his favorite (and only) daughter asking, makes it easier.

"The time for that ended already. The Gerudo King's hate is too much. Do you remember when he came into the castle, that one fateful day? That was our last chance at peace." He sounds...sad, about it, but firm in his belief.

"If we gave him land now, assuming he didn't just reject it, the rebels in the countryside would likely call this the last straw. Civil war would break, and King Ganondorf would sweep from the sides while we fall upon ourselves."
Tetra     "Surely, there's something we can do," protests Zelda. "Setting aside that I believe he can be reached--we are, as the leaders of this nation, responsible for their suffering. Our ancestors put them there, and have left them to rot for a millennium. I..." She pauses, and purses her lips. "There must be /something/."
Link Rhoam coughs, lightly. It's not a fit, luckily. He tilts his head. "Where would you put them? The contested zone is not ours to give, nor would he trust our intentions. The farmland is our breadbasket. His people could certainly not co-exist in the Castle Town. Death Mountain, which isn't ours? Zora's Domain? Faron Woods, which leads to a mysterious land all on its own? The northwestern plains, which are dangerous beyond all reckoning?"

He's not actually attacking her. He's trying to get her to think critically, but in a frustrating manner.

"You are right, that if we could, we should rectify these sins. But how would you do so? What does your Wisdom tell you to do, and is it the same as what you're being told by your heart?"
Tetra     "Mm... there is land nobody wants, throughout the kingdom, enough to fit a few hundred people. It's large. There are places nobody lives, nobody farms... But..." Zelda leans back, and runs a hand through her hair. "Would they accept it? Or see a meager upgrade from 'hellish' to 'hardscrabble' as an insult of its own?"
Link "He doesn't want kindness. He wants destruction." Rhoam shifts uncomfortably. He's a tall, imposing figure, though the imposing part is probably diminished by 'also being her father'. "Tell me, Zelda."

"Assume Ganondorf accepts the land. What stops him - a man who bears the Triforce of Power - from simply using it as a better staging grounds? Once he's in Hyrule proper, he no longer has to worry about the canyon, or the curses. We may have started it - but he is still a king of thieves."
Tetra     "What HE wants doesn't..." Zelda sighs. Her fingers draw in, gripping her dress. "I... I know he doesn't want peace. I know he might use it as a staging ground, a way to strike at our heart. But even so... I cannot sit idly by like this while a people who have done nothing wrong suffer for the sins of a thousand years past, and--" She fumes silently for a moment. "I don't see any other way to save them!"
Link As Zelda gets frustrated, Rhoam begins to cough, briefly, before sighing again. He's frustrated, too, but he's keeping it together. "Do you believe I wouldn't have chosen peace if that was an option? I hate it as much as you do."

But Rhoam sighs, again. "You are the Triforce Bearer. And you will, soon enough, be ruling this country by your lonesome. If this is truly what you want, do it. But do it with conviction. Make sure it is the right decision - one that is born of both wisdom /and/ heart."
Tetra     "I..." Zelda exhales, frustrated. "I don't mean to doubt your intentions, father. I'm sorry. It's just..." She shakes her head. "I can't do nothing. I will find a way to help the Gerudo. I have to. They're no less deserving of happiness than any child of the Goddesses... but... you're right. There's no easy answer here... I suspect easy answers will be in short supply for a while to come."
Link Rhoam folds his hands together, nodding, as Zelda starts to calm down. "You are the one with the Triforce of Wisdom. You will be forced to take a hard road. Do not forget, however, that our people look up to you. Remember them first, and bring them to prosperity." There's a but coming.

"But, perhaps peace for everyone is worth dreaming of, hmm?" He unfolds his hands and raps his knuckles against his book.
Tetra     "Mm." Zelda smiles lightly. "I would take safety for them, if not peace... but. Perhaps we'll be lucky."
