Thranduil      The Halls of the Elvenking are vast and opulent, and not for the acrophobic. The pathways are narrow and twist and turn throughout the upper levels with stone stairs leading to the lower areas. Thranduil is in an alcove where he pours himself a glass of wine as he awaits the arrival of the one who wishes to speak to him. The Elves often appear to be regal and stuffy, but in reality they are quite the party animals, especially the Silvan Elves. While Thranduil and Legolas are Sindaran Elves (or Grey Elves), the king is known for his wild starlight parties in the woods. The area far below where they keep the huge barrels of wine can be seen from the upper pathways, where a waterfall forms a river flowing out of the mountain.
Emiya Kiritsugu Kiritsugu Emiya is not immune to surprises, but although he is no doubt new to the opulence of elves, the fantastic environs, and their scope, do not - at least based off of outwards appearances - seem to impress him. For a man as simply attired as he is, in a suit and coat, it does not appear he is accustomed to wealth per se, so it isn't that. It's more that he just takes in his surroundings, and considers them in a way entirely differently from most other people. He is looking for places he could be attacked from or that would be an ideal place to attack from himself. He is looking for cover in the event of an ambush, signs of traps - mundane or magical - or surveillance. He is here with peaceful intentions - or peaceful towards Thranduil and his people, at any rate.

But he is not in the habit of trusting others, simply because that is how he has survived this long when hunting individuals considerably more powerful than he is. He can not afford to assume all is as splendid and welcoming as it appears. He can not afford to be drawn in by the amazing visuals of the place, of the euphoria of meeting real elves - long thought merely fictional on his world by most. He has to keep his wits about him, even when meeting with one who has so graciously accepted his request for a meeting.

Despite that, and despite his subdued caution that is not evidenced by any clear body language or behavior, and especially not by his lifeless-seeming eyes, he sincerely hopes this meeting comes and goes without consequence beyond achieving what he came here for. He has no desire to make an enemy of these people, or their king. When finally the tan-skinned Japanese man is escorted all the way to Thranduil, Kiritsugu bows slightly at the waist. He doesn't know if it's customary to bow to royalty here or not, but might as well show respect. "Your majesty," Kiritsugu greets calmly.
Thranduil      Thranduil turns when he hears the other man approach and offers a bow of his head, closing his eyes for a moment. He is a tall figure, standing a lofty 6'5, his long hair so pale blonde that it's almost white, his blue eyes standing out like jewels against his pale skin. Those blue eyes seem to analyze him for a few moments, then gestures to his little collection of wine. "Would you care to join me in a drink? Please, have a seat and we wil discuss our concerns over a common threat. I am Thranduil. You must be the one known as Kiritsugu. A strange name for a Man. Where do you come from?"
Emiya Kiritsugu An impressive figure, to be sure. Kiritsugu straightens when the king rises, and looks up at him without concern for the difference in their sizes however. "Thank you, but I'll pass." he declines the offer of wine politely. He has no idea what the wine is made out of here, or what might be in it, or what effect it might have on him. While he has no doubt he could handle alcohol alone, impairing himself in any capacity is not something he wants to do right now. "An honor to meet you, Thranduil." No title was attached in the introduction, so he skips it. If there is a desire for a title, he can always be corrected. As he seats himself, as directed, he answers, "I was originally born on an island nation known as Nippon, or 'Japan' to most foreigners. I've spent my life travelling the world I come from, however, so I wouldn't really call any one nation or place my 'home'."

He chooses not to leap into the matter of the common danger, and let the king set the pace for this conversation. At least for now. The matter has been broached, already, but just as Kiritsugu may have trust issues that need to be resolved, giving Thranduil the chance to trust him in turn is a reasonable course of action. "I take it that the race of 'Man' is analogous to 'humans' on worlds other than your own?"
