Landon al Cid      GALIANDA
     CHOCOBO - THE LUNAR METROPOLIS
     THE ALEXANDER ACADEMY COURTYARD

Phoenix, the gleaming bird that is the sun of Galianda, has already sank past the other side of the massive clockwork Core. The view from Chocobo is no less spectacular, though. The Great Span is illuminated by millions of lights, lights that stretch and arc across the whole of the planet, connecting the various plates through a byzantine system of bridgework whose nature can only be guessed at. Airships fly about in the darkness, illuminated by their own lights, flitting above the Great Span with all the efficiency of great, sprawling whales moving lazily through the ocean. And the continents! Though only three are visible at the moment - the Shivan glacier, the Ifrit desert, and the Leviathan ocean - their urbanized areas are lit up brilliantly, arching patterns of magical light to join the dancing, shifting, moving Great Span. It is an impossible view - three great continents on massive metal spars, connected and moving slowly around a titanic clockwork Core, joined by a moon and an impossibly huge bridge - but it is a beautiful one. This is Galianda.

Despite it being night, none of the students of Alexander Academy seem particularly bothered. People are still going about their business all the way through the campus. And, in one little outskirt corner of the campus, which is itself more like a city than a school, the Prince of Ramuh prepares to try and learn to fly.

He runs his hand through his white hair, but otherwise, no nervous tics appear. Nervous tics are deadly in the field of Ramuhan politics, after all. They're the sort of thing that get your secrets found and get you *killed*.

Nearby are a series of mattresses, placed between the buildings presumably for safety. He glances at them carefully.

This would probably be a disaster. Kamon would probably laugh at him for a week straight.

     Still...imagine...!
Zephyr Windstar     Something that might just stand out, or might now, is the glowing, growing pattern of circles, lines, and stylized Kanji symbols that appears not far from the Ramuhan Prince. it begins with four circles drawing themselves from purple energy, lines growing out to link them together, before symbols, formulae and other esoteric things fill the gaps. This rotates lazily around a central point, before a brief flash of light heralds the arrival of a certain Mage.

She doesn't look all that impressive. 5'11" tall, long brown hair tied up in twintails, a bright yellow and orange outfit and a huge battleaxe made from purple metal, with blue running-lines down the haft, and a large diamond-cut gemstone between the crescent-shaped blades. (Top one. http://i.imgur.com/5empGTd.jpg?1) She sweeps this in a flourish, then rests the haft over her shoulder, turning towards Landon al Cid with a cocky grin. "Yo!"

    Meet Zephyr Windstar.
Evangeline      After hearing all the radio chatter that Zephyr would be helping to teach someone to use wind magic, the littlest Neuroi, Evangeline, has ventured outside of Strike Earth to see what all the commotion is about. As Cid looks at the mattresses and ponders, he might hear the faintest of metallic-sounding whispers, like some fairy creature was flying around.

When he looks, he would find a completely black figure, except for a few lights, floating before it. It is humanoid in shape, but has no facial features, no hands, and its legs are more like WWII plane engines than legs. It appears to be female, judging by its figure, somewhere around 14 years old. And...it just floats there, watching Cid, its head tilted slightly as if curiously observing him.

When Zephyr appears, Evangeline's head turns toward her "...Zephyr...hello..." the creature says in a voice that sounds as if it is coming from an old-timey radio. The voice doesn't come from her mouth either, but from her arm, where a red watch-like device sits about half way down her forearm.
Kamon Lionward Kamon has handled the mattress-hauling. He's strong and not a Prince, and also probably not going to be airborne at any point in this exercise. He insisted that Landon keep himself ready for the /hard/ things. Besides... someone getting dirt that the Light Warriors are making the Prince of Ramuh do labor for no apparent reason might be bad for everyone.

Kamon is inexperienced with politics, but he's not totally ignorant of them.

Waiting for their visitors to appear, Kamon is hanging around next to Landon, arms folded over his chest. He's wearing a white shirt and black, silver-trimmed trousers, both sporting small versions of the Alexander Academy emblem, also in silver. The fine metallic cuts stand out a little on his arms, though they're less apparent than the pieces on his face and jaw. There's a katana sheathed at his hip. It's very plain.

He looks up when Evangeline and Zephyr appear, but he doesn't react in surprise or /sudden and terrible violence/, which is totally justified when you get snuck up on in a lot of places around here. Soan does it enough that he's learned how to hide it. He raises a hand, speaking a quick, "Hi," by way of greetings. Kamon is trying not to look impressed at the entrance.
Landon al Cid      Landon is every bit the image of the handsome, youthful knight. He's probably five eleven, maybe six feet, a bit tall for his age, but not the slightest bit lanky or uncoordinated. On the contrary, the Prince is someone who has been groomed from a young age not to be lanky or uncoordinated, as such a thing would be...*unseemly*. He's not broad-chested, but nor is he thin; his arms have clearly seen plenty of use wielding weapons over magic, and he's obviously not a weak man. He's also clearly both a fighter and moneyed, by the way he carries himself.

He's dressed in an Alexander Academy uniform - a black jacket, black slacks, black shoes, a silver tie, silver highlights, and an image of what looks like a knight's head on the breast pocket.

Unless prevented from doing so, Landon takes Zephyr's hand and kisses it, then repeats with whatever appendage seems most like a proferred hand on Evangeline. He doesn't stare at her, nor does he seem terribly put off by her; such a thing would, after all, be tremendously rude, and as a Prince, it's very important that one hide such curious thoughts and reactions under a mask of manners.

"Good evening. We're honored to have you here, on Chocobo. I am Prince Landon al Cid, as I mentioned on the radio. This is Kamon Lionward, my friend, and a member of the Light Warriors school club for Extraversal Exploration."

"I'm eager to learn whatever you have to teach, Lady Windstar. And I'm pleased to meet you, Lady Evangeline; you are the second non-humelike extraversal to visit Galianda, and it is an inestimable honor to have you here."
Zephyr Windstar     Zephyr doesn't do the whole 'My Lady' thing. So the hand-kiss is denied with a firm tug of her right hand, free of Landon's grasp. "Cut the 'Lady' crap. I'm no lady." she remarks, shrugging her axe from her shoulder and performing a little flourish with it, ending with one blade resting in a little notch newly formed in the ground... oops. "I said it before and it bears repeatin'... I'm not a teacher, so if this don't work, don't blame me." she says with a scowl before she dismisses her Device to Standby Mode. "Dee, we'll be focussing on Support and Utility, save power." she says to the new small coin-shaped Device.

A Resonant chime emits from it. <YES. MASTER! SWITCHING TO SUPPORT MODE.> a voice, deep and motherly, emits from the gemstone as it flickers with the words.

"Right. I'll show you how the matrix is formed for my Flight spell. It's called Flier Fan, and I'm gonna show you the basic spell. I have two Concept Shifts for it, but they're layers on top of the basic mathematics."
Evangeline      Evangeline watches as Cid attempts to kiss Zephyr's hand. Her head tilts in curiousity when Zephyr denies it, then asks, "...you are not female...?" When Cid turns toward Evangeline, she holds up one of her sleeve-like arms, and from it extends a set of slender fingers, though they don't extend into a full hand. It gives her the appearance that her 'sleeves' are too long, thus covering her hand up to the knuckles. So, Cid can kiss her knuckles after clasping her fingers, or he can place what would be a slightly awkward kiss on her sleeve-like arm's tip. She has not been greeted in such a fashion before, so the Neuroi is unsure what her response should be. Which results in her floating there silently and stoically, lowering her arm after the kiss is administered.

She does bow politely after the introductions, bending at the waist in a more oriental greeting. Which...sends her off balance and into a somersault before she rights herself again. "...Prince Landon al Cid..." she says, her 'face' looking at Cid, then turning to Kamon. "...Kamon Lionward..."

Then, she starts actually looking around. This world is pretty impressive. It is unlike any world the Neuroi has ever seen. And there is so much yummy metal everywhere...
Kamon Lionward Kamon doesn't do any of that fancy stuff that Landon does. He just kind of sits back and lets him do that, observing the two visitors quietly. He lifts a hand and waves when he's introduced, though. Best to show /some/ kind of acknowledgement.

The casual hovering and the Device itself both impress him, though, no doubt. He finds himself staring at Evangeline when she tumbles head over heels, trying to figure out what to make of her. There's a little bit of a resemblance to one of the smaller golems from Odin, but it's only superficial. Still, if someone else spotted her without any of them around...

"He's just being polite," Kamon offers. He shrugs his shoulders. He wasn't sure what he expected from an interdimensional cop from the extraverse. Less gruffness, maybe? He scratches his head a little, watching the two of them closely. Does that magitech thing do voice commands?
Landon al Cid      Landon doesn't seem particularly put-off. "Of course, Miss Zephyr," he replies. He's evidently quite polite, and likely meant nothing particular by it - as evidenced by the fact that he was willing to kiss Evangeline's hand, too. There are probably plenty of people among Galiandans who react the same, after all.

There's a lot of metal, everywhere. The whole core of the planet is made of metal, the great Spars holding up the continents are made of metal. It's a very metal world. And, of course, the buildings are metal...and, deep below the dirt imported to Chocobo, Chocobo, too, is metal. The moon itself is hollow...somehow. Then again, physics seem to be completely different on this world. There's a natural thrum of magical power all throughout the world; everything seems to be magical, somehow, in some way, shape, or form. Even the very gravity of Chocobo, and probably the Plates, seems to be a magical effect, rather than anything else. It's all very structured.

"I don't ever blame my instructors for my inability," Landon reassures Zephyr, "I doubt it's something I'll be able to grasp instantly, but having something to practice at all will be...ah, what is that voice?"

He look at the coin-shaped thing. "Is that how you cast spells?"
Zephyr Windstar     Zephyr blinks. "Oh! This is my Device." she replies. "Introduce yourself Dee." she says, holding the coin up, before letting it go so it can self levitate. <AUTOSUSPENSION SYSTEM ACTIVATED!> it begins in what seems to be an 'automated' report voice. When it speaks next the tone is more natural. <Hello! My name is Divine Wind. I am an Intelligent Device based in the Marchian school of magic. I assist my Master with incombat calculations and take much of the mental strain off of her so she can focus on not getting smashed in the facy with giant hammers.>

Zephyr grumbles at the last, but doesn't say anything about it. "Alright, focus time!" she claps her hands together firmly. "Marchian magic is derived from Belkan and Mid-Childan, both of which are core staples of the TSAB." as she speaks, a magic 'circle' forms under her feet, just like the one that brought her here. This one is smaller, however. "It's focused in mathematical calculations, forming Mana within a series of equations to form the desired effect."

As she explains, the 'lines of code' for her spell slowly form along her back, growing out into a quartet of 'Pixie Wings' "I got really good at on-the-fly calculations... because I had lost access to much of my magic due to things I won't recount here." her voice has gone quieter now, and a sigh escapes her lips. "I can show you the formulae for my spell, and take you through the steps to form your own, or whatever..." Once she's finished speaking, the spell is in place, the wings twitching like slightly glitched holograms.
Evangeline      Evangeline continues to float there without any effort at all, watching Zephyr work her magic. "...Zephyr gets smashed fairly often..." she comments as Divine Wind finishes its explanation. "...but she always bounces back..." the little Neuroi adds. Since she doesn't use magic, Evangeline has little to add. So, she starts floating around the area, inspecting things. Like Kamon.

The little Neuroi floats right up to him, just that metallic, magical sounding whisper accompanying her movements. "...Kamon..." she says, then leans in closer, floating a foot or so off the ground and peering at his face. "...you...are metal...?" she asks. It's a question, but her soft, barely not monotonous voice makes it hard to tell sometimes.
Soan Sagittarius      It is a common knowledge, a rumour and at once a celebrity that there is a super hero that patrols the Academy City. Sometimes he can be seen leaping in the night skies, criminals being stopped and the occassional prospective victim being saved by a fully armoured man dropping from the skies on a very unfortunate mugger. While it is a city of learning, it is still quite a massive city. All sorts gathers or gathered in the past. More dangerous things lurks even in the darkness -- or in the light, sometimes.

The observant eye will notice a figure standing in a balancing act on the very top of the communications arrays the city is dotted with, at the very height of a tall building. It is standing still, his arms crossed over his chest as he balances precariously over the edge of the construction. Immobile like a statue.

It's hard to tall if it's gaze is directed toward the two buildings the Prince and the Extraversals are practicing in.
Kamon Lionward Kamon peers at Divine Wind, blinking a few times at the spiel. "Uh, wow. I've never heard of any magitech like that. That's... really cool." It sounds as if he's kind of downplaying it. He's not a magitech nerd, but that's still crazy! "...equations? You're a Calculator?" The mere concept of extraversal Calculators throws Kamon for a loop. They're weird enough at home, what are they like elsewhere?!

Well, apparently they have axes that turn into coins and can fly, that's what.

Evangeline gets really close. Kamon takes a half-step back, frowning for a second before managing to control his expression. Not a murderous golem-creature, he reminds himself, chill out. "Uh... a lot of me is, yeah. I'm Odynari; we've all got iron in our bodies." He runs a finger across one of the scar-like metallic ridges on his face. This close, Evangeline can probably see all the very fine 'scars' like the same up and down his arm. They're thin, like iron threads pressed into the surface of his skin instead of obvious bumps. "See?"
Landon al Cid      Landon considers this for a long moment as he listens to the Device speak. Zephyr's lecture actually helps him put a few things together. "So it's magic very much similar to the nature of our own spells; form Mana within the pattern to create an event. That's very interesting. Are Devices necessary to do this sort of magic? Would I need to acquire one?"

He watches carefully as the spell grows. He takes in the wings, fascinated. "It's both so much like, and so much unlike, our own magic. Please forgive my eagerness; this is something amazing and historic to me, though I am certain to you it's no different than walking down the street."

Landon offers her a broad smile. "I should very much like to see your formulae, yes. Erm...if you should care to see any of our spells, as well, I'm capable of at least a basic suite? I doubt they're as complex as yours, but in the interests of fair trade..."

Landon shifts gears after a moment. "Ah, look! There's Dragoon Man, one of our local campus superheroes. It's nice that he's out and about like this; it gives you ladies a good chance to see some of our more colorful culture!"

He's also watching Evangeline and Kamon out of the corner of his eye. What an interesting place the Extraverse is! Then again, he'd probably feel differently if he was the brunt of Evangeline's attention...
Evangeline      Kamon steps back. Evangeline realizes she made him uncomfortable, which makes her uncertain. So, she ends up reverting to her stoic, upright state, just standing there in mid air, staring at Kamon. But, when he explains his appearance to Evangeline, the Neuroi nods her head. "...I eat metal..." she says, as if she thinks it is important to the situation. She pauses, then headtilts. "...but I would not eat you...you are a person..." she says.

Soan appears, and Neuroi Girl's senses tell her so. She turns her head toward Soan, and her attention is shifted from metal person to balancing apparently metal person. She flies off toward Soan quite suddenly and starts circling him in curiousity.

She orbits the DRAGOON MAN standing on the communications tower, inspecting his armor and wondering if he is a robot, a metallic lifeform like herself, or a human in armor. "...hello..." she says softly as she orbits.
Soan Sagittarius      Dragoon Man remains remarkably immobile even when the strange, to him anyway, creature comes flying upward to meet him. He doe snot move, even as she circles him as she does, his muscles still, staring up ahead and downward.

When she does speak, the Dragoon replies with a gravely voice, filtered through the helmet he is wearing and muting it down a bit -- yet disorted by something else, giving it an etheraly quality to it. "Good evening, Evangeline." He says, not looking at her still, his vigil unbroken. "Are you enjoying Chocobo?"
Evangeline      Evangeline pauses in mid air as Dragoon man greets her by name. She tilts her head, wondering how he knew it, then it occurs to her. She reaches to her throat to feel over the choker with her name on it. "...yes...it is very interesting...I wonder if they would let me taste some of the metals here..." she says before she goes still again. The reason is unclear until she lowers her arm again and says, "...I am being called back to base for patrol duty...it was nice to meet you..." She bows again, this time managing not to somersault herself, then she floats back down to Kamon. "...thank you for talking with me...I am sorry if I made you uncomfortable..." she says, then she floats over toward Zephyr and Landon. "...enjoy your lessons..." she says to them, then she takes off toward the warp gate like a bullet and disappears through it, only twin contrails showing that she was ever here.
Zephyr Windstar     Zephyr blinks, as she's called a 'Calculator'. "I, guess?" she replies. "All magic where I'm from works like this, there's just different 'styles' based on your personal abilities and predisposition. Belkan is more close-ranged and melee focussed, Mid-Childan is more mid-to-long ranged." she explains, then lifts up off the ground. "A Device just makes the process easier, because it does most of the calculations for you. If you don't have a Device, that's all on you. They're not easy to get either, Intelligent Devices are usually custom crafted for the mage that's gonna use it." she explains. "You could request a Storage Device from the TSAB if you're willing to do some work for 'em, but that's something for the Higher-Ups. I'm just a Private in the Ground Forces."
Kamon Lionward "Uh..." There's a pause. Evangeline takes off during it. "...you didn't, really," Kamon says as she streaks away. Not like she thought, anyway.

Kamon rubs the back of his neck, turning back to Landon and Zephyr. He just kind of shrugs. "That's... sorry, we have really tight specializations around here, so it's easier to..." He trails off, awkwardly. To peg people into categories so he can better understand them, he doesn't say. It's implied, but not explicitly spelled-out. "So, um, you... do math to figure out how to do your magic?"
Landon al Cid      Evangeline is given a passing smile by Landon. "Have a pleasant evening, Miss Evangeline," he offers politely as she leaves, "And good luck."

He looks back at Zephyr. "Calculators do a similar sort of magic here; I know little about it, but I hear it's quite similar."

Carefully, he watches her fly. It's a very complicated spell. It's...well, he can sort of see the similarities, as he mentioned, but- "I may have to do just that, or work up some form of trade for something of our own!" Landon agrees brightly. Flight! Flying!

Real flying, too! Not just using a Float spell to get around, or Jumping like a Dragoon, but real, real Flying! Imagine all the things he could see if he could do that!

The Prince shoots Kamon an excited, boyish grin. It's very unlike the much more controlled, polite, stoic Landon - he's genuinely excited by this. It's such a simple thing to be excited by! But he can't help it - real, honest flying!

"It sounds as though Belkan magic might be more suitable to my sensibilities, I admit! I much prefer melee combat, although I'm fairly handy with a gun..."

Landon glances at Kamon. "It's much easier to understand someone's strengths and abilities by the Job that they fall into," Landon offers for him, "The extraversal Elites are very much unlike what we're used to. You have a broad and vast range of abilities, and the ramifications of that on our world are still being understood."
Zephyr Windstar     Zephyr floats over to Kamon, rotating upside down to peer at him with her arms folded over her chest. It's a feat of magic that her Battle Skirt(tm) doesn't flop down over her body. "All magic works like this in my world. It's all mathematics and calculations."

She rights herself, then does a few trick maneuvers in the air, moving about as gracefully as one might expect a fish to swim through water. She then lands with a click of her boots on the ground, and she lifts her right hand to activate a holoscreen.

Arcane formulae, mathematical equations and calculations scroll across it. "This is the calculation sheet for Flier Fan... I'll give you a copy of it just as a reference. I've marked the 'stages' and sequences with comment lines, just in case I forgot."
Kamon Lionward Feat of magic inteed. Kamon peers upward, wondering about exactly that. "I guess there's some stuff like that here, but I can't really do magic, sooo..." He trails off, shrugging. He /did/ say he wanted to come down here to watch, not necessarily learn. That's all Landon.

Landon, who Kamon cannot remember seeing in this particular mood before. The Prince is typically much more down-to-plate, charming and official and officially charming. That's his /thing/. The boyish enthusiasm is totally new, but Kamon approves. He grins Landon's way for a moment. "You'll figure out something appropriate to trade, I'm sure. If anyone's got the best idea of what's okay for that sort of thing, it's you."

He makes no comments regarding the magical math. Waaay over his head.
Landon al Cid      "On our world, as I mentioned, all magic is based in various patterns. Magic is pushed through the pattern, and thus generates the effect. It sounds like it's almost identical...I suspect your TSAB would be most interested in seeing some of our machinery, since your magic works the way this sheet implied."

Landon watches the numbers scroll by with great interest. He doesn't have an eidetic memory, but he does have a phone with a camera and data storage, so Zephyr's Device should be more than able to find a way to transmit it. "I'd very much appreciate that, Miss Windstar," Landon confirms.

He looks over at Kamon and chuckles. "Come on, now, Kamon...Murasame is much better at this sort of thing than I am. Not that I'd ever say so to his face...but he has a real head for-"

DAN DAN DAN DAN-DAN-DAN DAN-DANAN! DAN DAN DAN DAN... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvpyz6MUa1w

Landon frowns and looks at his phone. "Ah, p-please excuse me, Miss Windstar. I need to take this call...it was lovely to meet you. I'm deeply in your debt. I hate to cut this meeting short on my end, but..."

He gestures and flicks up his phone to take the call, looking vaguely annoyed for a brief moment. It disappears as he heads out; he doesn't like to look annoyed in public, after all.
