Ryu     Ryu has been given a variety of lessons and encouragement from the other dragons of the Multiverse, but found his own confidence lacking. Feeling that maybe his only shortcoming was not actually using the form in any capacity, he went to the Charred Library with a selection of training equipment that he felt were good for flexing his dragon muscles, so to speak.

A large punching bag, some very large weights, and some manner of furnace with a pressure gauge on it... That last one he had to get specially made, which may have drawn some attention to what he was doing.

And so he stood there in the room, in his dragon form, once everything was set up. It took a minute for him to get his bearings properly, thanks to how disorienting the form is for someone who has spent their whole life being human. Once he did, he stepped up to the furnace, giving it a headtilted stare like some kind of beast that cluelessly found an advanced piece of machinery.

Then he sucked in a big breath of air for a good five seconds, and released a huge gout of white flame into the furnace. So much white fire that sensors might pick up an absurd amount of white mana coming from the library. The gauge on the furnace strains to measure the amount of fire he's blowing into there, and he just keeps going until he runs out of breath.

He wobbles on his feet and falls onto his butt, too dizzy to stay standing after that.
Yunomi Stadler     The first thought was, when a security drone by the designation of Pidge beeped to life as she was sleeping off a night in Sydney about a HUGE BURST of white mana, was that somehow someone had decided to attack Nivix, from the inside. She had burst into her armor, doing her hair into an uncharacteristic ponywail as she flew down the hall and down the elevator shaft, setting a 'standby' alert to anyone else who might respond.

But when she arrived at the CHarred Library, in its dark and ember-stained bearance that she beheld the draconic form of Ryu, and a blast furnace. She had hung in the doorway, breathless for a moment, and blinking the sleep from her eyes, the guardian quietly gave a laugh.

And she rubs at her face.

"You know, you oughta be careful with that; the place already singed once." she jokes, padding in.

In all the hullaballoo of getting her armor on, she forewent shoes. She's barefoot.
Ryu     Ryu puffs some sparkling smoke from the corners of his mouth, turning his head to look over at Yunomi with a bleary look in his golden eyes. Then he got up to a stand and raised one of his hands to wave at her, the short dragon creature showing some awareness of the world around him at the very least. He seemed more tense, now that someone was here to observe him, though... If she had been paying attention, he froze for a split second when she spoke to him.

He reaches up to tap at the gauge that measured the amount of 'mana pressure' he put into the furnace, not sure what it meant for it to be at the level it was at. He puffed a hissing sigh at it, and turned, instead, to go pick up the weights--

And lifted the large benchpress level bar and its weights over his head with an ease that he was not expecting. He stared up at it, his tail wiggling behind him in obvious frustration. When he was human, that would've required a ton of effort!
Yunomi Stadler     "Ah. Measuring your output? I was wondering what they were working on." Yunomi states, with an amused tone in her voice. She walks over, examining the forge for a moment more, then turning when he lifted the heavy weight equipment, and she gives a tilt to her head.

"Anno..." she ventures, coming near, but not close enough to get hit by anything. "... what are you working on?"
Ryu     The dragon carefully set the weights back down, and turned to look over at Yunomi once more. Ryu then just sat there on the floor, his head turning to look at the furnace that was made. He could tell that it helped measure his dragon fire, but it... wasn't as if he knew what was a 'good amount' of dragon fire, or if he was lacking.

He gestures at the furnace, and then at the weights, and then at the punching bag. The bag got a leery look, because he's pretty sure he'd shred the poor thing if he hit it.

Ryu made a helpless chirping noise at her, because he has no idea what he's doing at all.
Yunomi Stadler     "... training regime." she considers. And then Yunomi stands in front of the furance. She rubs the back of her head a moment as she regards the forge and its measurement.

"Well." she states, and she strikes a ready position. Red mana curls around her fingers in feathery, fiery tendrils. She exhales, feeling the burn in her palm before she raises her hand, and sends a blast of her own fire at the forge, sending her output reading to the meter at about half way.

    She looks very satisfied.

"Bet you dinner that you can't beat that.~" she offers as a challenge, giving a friendly smile over to the dragon.
Ryu     Ryu stuck his tongue out in something of a stupified manner as she used the furnace to measure her own raw mana output. He stared at the metal as it turned red, and one could almost see the anime sweat drop when his eyes went wide. But, true to Izzet design, the furnace didn't rupture. So he relaxed.

The challenge was made. He forgot all about being a dragon, or training himself. She wanted to do a test of skill against him, and that got a bark of agreement from him. An awkward noise, but the best she was going to get since he can't talk like this.

Standing up was a slow motion, complete with a little grunt. He stepped over to the furnace, peering into it as the inside poured smoke from the actual fire of her spell.

    He breeeathed in...

And blew a blast of fire into the furnace that was so bright that the very shadow at his feet vanished. Probably just an oddity of his fire, though! The dragon fire emits no heat, and lets off a roar that sounds only vaguely similar to fire. A loose imitation that replaces the heat of a flame with the punch of a holy spell.

When he's done... he's so out of breath that he falls over, sprawled on his front, staring forward dizzily.

The gauge settles, and it shows he beat her spell but only by a small margin. He's putting an awful lot of effort into that, so it seems his shortcomings involve more than being unable to talk.
Yunomi Stadler     Never let it be known that Yunomi didn't know how to stoke a fire -- or an ego.

Yunomi had watched with a bit of pride as the red had cooled, the heat dying off in waves from the metallic exterior. She was pretty satisfied with it, but she stepped out of the way as the dragon stepped up and blasted the furnace. Yunomi pulled her goggles down, and partially shielded her eyes as her shadow was lost in the blast, and when she heard the roar of the dragon, she felt her heart skip a beat, a fire without heat. And when the light dies down... she watches as the poor dragon sprawls forward.

She pushes her goggles up, and hops off the ground, bare feet hanging over Ryu as she looks to the gauge.

"Well." she states, settling down into a kneel at Ryu's side, and she claps an arm over his neck. "Looks like I owe you dinner."
Ryu     Ryu snaps out of his dizzy state as her feet dangled in his view. He peered at them in confusion for a second.

Then she kneeled down and put that arm around his neck. He turned some to look up at her face, baffled by her touching him at all. When she told him that he won, his mouth cracked open, and an elated 'arrr~' noise come from his mouth that sounded a great deal younger than he actually was.

He then sat up and grabbed Yunomi up in a big hug, his tongue sticking out in a silly manner, his eyes full of happiness.

A gesture that soon broke when he realized what he was doing and remembered he wasn't really the hugging type. He awkwardly looked at the furnace instead of at Yunomi, embarrassed that a level of cheer he had long ago thought he lost had popped up again.
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi had given a 'yeep!' of surprise when she was scooped up in a hug -- it was rare that the folks she had been around showed much emotion... from her dad, to the Hansens -- but it was refeshing, and she had seen the happiness in his eyes.

But when he released her, awkwardly looking away, she was determined to let him keep that cheer. Things were already too dour!

So she just wrapped her arms around that neck of his and gave a big ol' smooch to his nose! "Bah! It's OK to be /HAPPY/, Ryu! This place is /way/ too serious sometimes!" she chides, and put her thumb to his nose, and wiggled it between the nostrils in a 'got your nose' motion!
Ryu     A squawk came out of him. Ryu looked at Yunomi with some bewilderment as she insisted that he stay happy, the smooch on his nose getting a very bashful and almost SHOCKED look in his face. "Rrrf?" he sounds out, when she plays with his nose. He's got a pretty big snout, which snuffles at her hand.

So he gives her a hug again, and squeezes the hug for a few seconds, his eyes closing. Half an apology, and half just enjoying giving affection to a friend.

Then he releases her, and emits an aura of light, turning back into his human form. He has an embarrassed frown on his face, his brows are furrowed, and his face is just beet red.

"S-sorry," he manages at her, awkwardly.
Yunomi Stadler     "Ah, don't worry about it, Ryu." Yunomi states, and reaches up to ruffle the blue hair of the kid before she hops to her feet.

"I mean it though. Nothing should ever stop you from showing /appropriate/ levels of affection, at appropriate times." Yunomi replies, "and that was appropriate. You blew my fireball out of the water. So to speak." she laughs.
Ryu     Ryu's hair can't get more mussed than it is naturally! Maybe it's just magic. He smiles at her lightly. "Alright." ... "You don't have to owe me dinner, though," he tells her, something fueled by his discomfort with being a dragon.
Yunomi Stadler     "Bah. My word is my bond. C'mon, we'll head down to Tin Street and get some street eats or rat on a stick." she jokes, offering a hand up. "It'll be fun."
