Sanae Kochiya     It had been a few weeks since a certain priestess, namely Sanae, had asked Psyber to come check this place out. Her interest was ostensibly to come inspect the organization that so many of the local youkai, and youkai-likes, had gathered interest in, but it is just as (or more) likely that she just wanted to see where this Psyber fellow lives and works. Nonetheless, multiverse life being the busy matter it is, it had been delayed - that is, until today! The nice thing about this is that, as Sanae phones ahead, she had informed him that she was bringing two guests with her.

Finding the way around Boston for a foreign, in all manner of ways, tourist isn't easy, but neither is navigating the Tokyo jungle. She arrives by taxi, figuring correctly that the local landmark of the Heaven or Hell tower would be well-known, and tips the driver very well. It's all part of supporting the local economy! "What a pleasant city," she chimes, stepping out onto the sidewalk proper, as someone yells 'FAHHHHK!' right behind her when they accidentally spill a hot drink all over themselves. "It's odd to think, but even here in the multiverse, I think this is my first time visiting America! I feel like I should have on a souvenir shirt."

Kanako and Suwako are with her. The former, hovering just above the ground cross-legged, which thankfully isn't that unusual in this particular Boston, doesn't seem nearly as impressed with the local culture. She nonetheless has that patient, subdued smile on her face that is normally reserved for doting parents, "That's fine, Sanae. But don't forget why we agreed to come here." Suwako does not share this view, as she's as energetic as usual, hopping up and down, "We're going to gather this place's Faith, right!?" The priestess of these two's shoulders visibly slumps a bit as she sighs, "That's not it at all..." Then, if noone is there to greet them, they cross the street, and Sanae takes the lead, moving to push open the doors. "This seems like the place!"
Guest Psyber     The doors pushed open and the lobby entered, Psyber is sitting at the front desk and working. The half-angel has a tablet propped up nearby that he's sifting through Union work for. At the same time, he's using a PC and doing other, unrelated work. He's basically doing two people's worth of work simultaneously as he rapidly switches from keyboard to touch screen with practiced motions.

Otherwise, it looks pretty much like the lobby to an office. There's some cookies out for stop-in visitors like Sanae, Suwako and Kanako. And Psyber, attentive as he is, looks up as soon as they open the front door, "Oh! Sanae. You actually came to visit. I was wondering if you'd ever find the time. You find your way around Boston okay?"

While he doesn't get up to greet her, he does stop working to pay more attention.
Kongou     At some point while getting closer to the Heaven or Hell tower, the supernatural trio of varying fractions of god-ness become accompanied by a somewhat small raven-haired girl toting a plastic shopping bag with both hands. She keeps her distance, about thirty paces back, and generally avoids contact even with regular city people.

Once it's time to cross the street, she looks down both directions, then squeezes her single visible eye shut and simply scurries across the crosswalk.

She pauses, though, when the three strangely dressed people actually enter the office building, coming to a silent stop a scant three paces behind. With Kanako and Suwako and Sanae in the doorway, and her own anxieties, she doesn't feel comfortable just squeezing through. Instead, she dips her head and tightens up her hands, drawing the plastic bag to her chest.

    "...Excuse me."

One might miss Hayashimo's words over the sounds of traffic just outside, though.
Reiji Arisu     Sometimes, an exorcist's job can take them to all kinds of interesting and dangerous places. Other times it takes them to Boston. Not that Boston is uninteresting, it's ust that it's probably a lot safer than most places. Well- this Boston is, anyway.

Reiji is at Psyber's office doing a bit of heavy reading. The books he has propped open seem to be texts on the nature of the soul, and there is at least one sheaf of loose notepaper that has all kinds of experimental drawings and scrawling annotations strewn all across it. Only some of it is his. It seems Reiji is busy at work addressing a certain world-ending event.

Psyber's notice of Sanae's arrival does cause Reiji to glance up from his work, however. "Oh," he bobs his head in greeting, "Hello again, Wind Priestess. Long time no see." Reiji glances up at the woman floating next to her... And at the smaller one at her side. There's a slight buzz at the back of his head that suggests that These People Are Important. Uh. "And... Who is this you've brought with you?"
Xiaomu One of Reiji's books is actually propped up against Xiaomu's thigh as she sits near him, her attention fully and completely focused on saving the world. Except ... not the way Reiji's going about it.

In fact, given that the focus of Xiaomu's attention is on the screens of her Nintendo 3DS, it's a pretty good guess that they aren't even saving the same world.

One blonde-furred, brown-tipped ear perks up a bit at the sound of conversation nearby, including a voice she doesn't know as well as the others she's hearing. With that, the sage fox confirms her next move and folds the 3DS closed, looking over at Sanae and her companions.
Sanae Kochiya     "Ah, Mister Psyber," Sanae calls, spotting him quickly from where he's working on important business! She gives a half-courteous, half-hurried bow, before she steps on inside. A sheepish glance is then given to the tablet he sets aside, and she reaches a hand behind her head to ruffle at her emerald green hair, "Uhm, this isn't a bad time, is it? I didn't mean to interrupt your office work or anything. But, Boston is great! It's great to finally get to see it with my own eyes."

Right on cue, as Reiji takes notice of her, Kanako also drifts in, continuing to hover for a moment before remembering her manners, and setting both feet down on the actual floor. Physically and symbolically lowering herself to the realm of mortals, perhaps? "So this is a modern building, hmm?" Her eyes continue to go over every small detail of her surroundings, which is quite different from that passive smile on her face. And then, she also bows to Psyber, as well as the others that happen to be in the area, answering the question instead of Sanae, "I am Kanako Yasaka. It is sometimes good to go out and get in touch with the ways of the people, even if we usually have Sanae for that."

Suwako, the smaller, far younger-looking of the two, raises a sleeve triumphantly, "We are enacting the Faith gathering plan!" Kanako shoots her a dart-eyed look at the lack of tact, but it doesn't seem to bother the girl with the frog motif on her dress. Sanae just shifts slightly, looking embarassed, "Please excuse the extra company, everyone. That is - these are the goddesses of my shrine." Hmm, *two* gods in one shrine? Odd... "Faith is kind of important to them, so."

Being a bit closer in height, on that note, Suwako is actually the one that takes closer note to Hayashimo's uncomfortable entry. She does sidestep for a moment, or more like a light hop, and then - having little concept of personal space - moves to place two hands on the one-eye-haired girl's shoulders, "Hey! Who is this young lady? She looks interesting!" It's kind of weird to hear Suwako call the Destroyer a 'young lady', considering all the age shenanigans going on here. But that's where we are. Sanae, meanwhile, keeps having her eyes pulled towards Xiaomu. Eventually, she ups and blurts out, "Mister Reiji, you brought your shikigami familiar with you! And she's playing a 3DS! I love this contrast of imagery."
Guest Psyber     Psyber looks to Kanako for a long few moments, trying to judge how to react before he stands and gives her a polite half-bow, "Kanako. I'm Psyber, a half-angel. You're in my office and home, so welcome to Heaven or Hell," The half-angel says formally, looking over to Suwako a moment later, "You're welcome as well."

"I can offer you some of the coffee and cookies over there, but mealtime isn't for a few more hours yet, I believe," He laughs awkwardly, rubbing the back of his head as he looks to Sanae, "So it's not a bad time, no. I just wish I could show some more hospitality with so many guests stopping in at once," He looks a bit perplexed.

"What is the Faith gathering plan?"
Reiji Arisu It's not too strange to have multiple gods at one shrine, really. Not for Reiji, anyway. Sometimes he has to deal with dozens! But those 'gods' are usually ancestral spirits, so maybe it doesn't quite count. "More or less," Reiji answers the woman, "I suppose Gensokyo doesn't have too many of these."

His eyes shift towards Suwako, then, brow-furrowing ever so slightly, "...Faith-gathering?"

They're... Goddesses?

Oh. Well that explains the tingle.

"My apologies," the exorcist suddenly seems... so much more formal. Maybe it's the way his posture is firmer now. Or that he's bowing from the waist, "I am not prepared to properly welcome goddesses today. Still, I'm honored to meet the both of y--"

Reiji peers at Sanae like she grew a second head.

"...Xiaomu isn't anyone's Shikigami, Sanae," Reiji answers, sitting back among his notes. "You should see our setup at home if you want to watch a fox play video games."
Reiji Arisu Oh. But there are more than just goddesses and priestesses here today, huh? Reiji glances down towards Hayashimo, inclining his head inquisitively. "She looks familiar. Where have I seen you before?"

Maybe at the big party at Hikari Port!? Maybe not though. Do all destroyer-spirits look the same to an Exorcist's eye!?
Kongou     When Suwako hops aside, Hayashimo makes as if she's going to advance through the provided opening, only to be halted by hands on her shoulders. Suddenly shooting bolt upright, she freezes in place and simply stares at the frog-themed goddess with a look of ... confusion, actually. "...Ahh...?" She blinks once, slowly, and then dips her head in the only form of a bow she can do when her shoulders are held like that.

"...Yuugumo class destroyer... Hayashimo. ...I live here. ...with the Fourth Mobile Unit."

She hadn't been a part of the Fleet at the time of the Hikari party, but perhaps one of her sisters had been sighted. The uniform at least may seem familiar. But that long raven hair and the shy demeanor are unique to the watcher herself.

Looking down, the girl tightens her grip on the bag she carries, "...I'm a new addition. ...Please don't mind me."
Xiaomu Xiaomu gives Suwako a quiet withering look. "What Reiji said; I'm Xiaomu, and if anything, Reiji's closer to my shikigami than I am to his."

Then she grins, reaching over to pat Reiji on the head. "It's not like that, though - we're partners, pretty much on equal terms apart from my teaching him a lot of what he knows. At any rate, it's good to meet you ladies!"
Sanae Kochiya     Kanako had actually hoped to approach this more diplomatically, and in less potentially provoking terms. Her smiling face shows its first few strains at this, and she eventually reaches a hand up to rub at her heavenly forehead. "Please pardon the rudeness of my colleague, Suwako Moriya." With a sigh, she has regained her composure, and since there can be no pretenses anymore, she returns to her warm yet oddly aloof smile. "It was never meant to be underhanded, and I had hoped to address it later. As Sanae said, we gods rely on Faith for our well-being, so we are always on the look out for new sources." It goes without saying that the spiritual ooziness of this place is off the charts. Thanks to Psyber's charisma!

Now both Sanae and Suwako are crimping her style. What an evening this is going to be, at this rate. She clears her throat again, perhaps aiming draw their attention to focus, "Lord Psyber. Words of your exploits have already reached my ears. It seems you are quite the shaker of this place called the multiverse?" Her smile takes on a slightly more devious tint, but perhaps it is simply the light. "Heaven or Hell. An interesting name, and I'm certain it has just as interesting a story behind it." She turns to Reiji next, somehow the atmosphere around him making it immediately obvious what his general nature is, though she has other things on her mind, like dispeling any worries from either him or Psyber, "Oh, this is more of an informal meeting, really. We did stop in unexpectedly, after all."

Sanae, herself, has her cheeks go red with embarassment, at being corrected by the exorcist as well as his fami--err, partner, and she gives a rapid series of apologetic bows, "Ah, sorry. I just thought - since you're a fox spirit type and all." She's really the kind to extrapolate from just one edge case she's encountered, isn't she. "Youkai and humans working together, huh?" She gives a more curious glance at that, before an accepting smile. Suwako, still hands on with Hayashimo, does at least free one to give Sanae a pat on the back, "Well, we do cooperate a lot with the Tengu, you know! It's probably no different for them." "Ah, yes! P-please show me your game collection sometime, Miss Xiaomu!"

The Destroyer isn't getting off that easily. Though, at least, Suwako does have enough common sense to not try riding her as a backpack. It's just the narrowest of margins that prevents her from doing so, though. "A Yuugumo-class Destroyer, huh? That sure takes me back... World War 2 wasn't the best time for our shrine." Suwako gets an odd look from Sanae as she mentions this, but then she's used to being surprised by the dimunitive goddess, after the time with the robot. Then something strikes her, and the wind priestess gives a closer look to Hayashimo, before trembling, "Wait a minute... You're one of those ship girls like on the news!"
Reiji Arisu     Being patted on the head does not do much for Reiji's cool, unflappable image. It doesn't stop him from wearing a ':|' in perpetuity, but it sure puts a damper on his style. "I'm not sure how I'm your shikigami," he mutters, though he doesn't do anything to dissuade the patting either. Maybe he's just used to it by now. "But she's being truthful otherwise. Shinra believes in cooperation and coexistance, not subjugation."

He looks towards Hayashimo, then. "Oh, I see. Well, welcome to the organization then, Yuugumo-class Destroyer, Hayashimo. You'll do just fine, I'm sure."

Reiji turns back towards the goddesses and their priestess again. How exactly does an Eastern Exorcist ignore something like this? Really. "Of course, Lady Kanako. I'll try to... Loosen up a bit."

At least head-pats helped with /that./

"The Second World War seems like it was awful all around," Reiji says with a shrug. "It threw everything right the hell off when it happened back home. I wasn't there myself, but..." His eyes flicker towards Xiaomu, "I've heard stories."
Guest Psyber     "I see. You're looking to set up a siphon," Psyber says to Kanako, cutting past the obvious flattery she's trying to deliver upon him. He gives her a faint smile and then says, "Kanako. Suwako. And Sanae? I see." He's mostly just memorizing names and considering them all.

"Spiritually strong location, lots of strange people. I can imagine if you got even, say, three percent of the magic it accrued per day, you would get quite a boost," He ponders this point in consideration. He had no reason to dislike most of the Gensokyans, since they'd treated him well over the years save for a few exceptions.

"I could be pursuaded. But I'd require you three to at least work here as part-time employees, since I don't believe in giving things for free. Maybe do some freelance work or let me call in favors in exchange."

Beyond his negotiation, most of the other stuff is going temporarily unnoticed by Psyber, largely due to him trying to negotiate with the Goddess.
Reiji Arisu Psyber gets a long, distant stare. "Did..." Reiji squints, "Did you actually just ask gods to be part-timers?"
Kongou     When the goddess seems not only to accept who she is without a second thought, but even extend her own sympathy for the girl's own turbulent past--in a general fashion--Hayashimo pauses in her initial plan to break through the line and make it back to familiar waters. Instead, she simply closes her one visible eye and murmurs, "...In the end, all I could do was watch. ...Always watching from a distance."

The destroyer girl starts suddenly, realizing she's still holding a bag. Leaning from side to side, looking Psyber's way, she suddenly slips around between the two imposing figures of Shinto history and approache the much taller half-angel. She digs into the bag, then pulls out a paper-wrapped sandwich covered in logos from a local subsandwichery.

"...The Port of Subs...has launched a new Meal-class vessel for you... Commander."
Xiaomu "He has an Outer God on his regular payroll," Xiaomu points out. "And ... honestly, Reiji? You're *glad* you weren't around when World War II was going on."

She actually shudders a bit as she remembers what it was like.
Sanae Kochiya     As she had unexpectedly ended up taking point, just like most meetings with the Tengu and Kappa, Kanako is somehow in her element now. She's uncertain whether her open carry flattery of Psyber is welcome or not, but honestly, it never *hurt* her negotiations, either. Seemingly, at first, she echoes Reiji's incredulous-seeming reaction, making an odd 'tut tut' sound of her lips. And yet, that soon gives way to a somehow even broader smile, and it's soon clear that she was never off-put by the offer, "Those conditions certainly seem fair to me, for the favor you would be paying us, Lord Psyber. I agree to your terms." Isn't she going to ask Suwako and Sanae how they feel about it, first? Apparently not, and since they barely even give a glance, they're apparently used to it.

What Suwako does do, though, is give an excited cheer, at the prospect of hanging around Boston again. Honestly, she could care less about this whole Faith-gathering business, which is possibly how she ended up with this child-like form to begin with. It was all about getting out and playing with people. She does, though, give some surprising insight on why Kanako might have been so unfazed by this, "You scratch our back, we scratch yours. That's how things get done! A long time ago, we experimented with giving wishes to people, but that just made them lazy. Lazy people don't generate much faith, you know." Now when you give something to a *Kappa*, that's a whole different beast.

Elsewhere, Sanae seems to be a bit more comfortable with Reiji and Xiaomu's situation, now that they've gotten a chance to explain themselves. She does give a slightly quizzical look, and seems to give a far off glance for a moment, as though she were remembering something. "A peaceful coexistence? There's some monk lady that runs a temple that says that kind of thing." Suwako laughs at that, "What a lot of trouble she caused when she came. It was a lot of fun!" Sanae laughs a bit nervously, "Yeah, fun..." Then she's distracted by Hayashimo's sad girl in shrapnel atmosphere, and her laugh fades into a slightly concerned expression. And then the Destroyer goes and does something cute, and Sanae seems to tremble again. No, she can't contain it any longer. "S-so cute," she mumbles, and sidles over to try and give Hayashimo a hug. "You are the perfect spokesgirl for Port of Subs!"

It's probably good that Kanako isn't paying too much attention to that side of thing, or she might have yen signs appear suspended in the air around her.
Guest Psyber     "Sounds like we've got a fair trade, then, Miss Kanako," Psyber says with a smile. He's pretty relaxed around her, despite her status as a deity. In no small part, this is because Psyber is a Western angel talking to an eastern deity, so there's very little jurisdiction overlap here. He nods his head, "I'll get you guys access codes and employee badges."

To Reiji, Psyber simply smiles and shrugs, "This is how I meet a great deal of my employees. Hastur isn't among them, but it's similar to how I met any number of other people, so I consider it successful. Worked with Mokou, after all, though she put in two weeks recently because she wants to focus on her shack," He concludes.

Hayashimo gets a somewhat more confused reaction from Psyber, "Ah... th-thanks," He has to choke back a d'awww, and instead turns it into: "D'a-o you know what flavor it was?"
Reiji Arisu     Are all gods this relaxed in Gensokyo? What kind of a strange, terrifying place is it, really!? One that breeds gods that can shrug off being casually offered part-time jobs, clearly!! Reiji just sort of stares for a long time, and then slowly shakes his head. "...Alright then. I'll try not to think about it for too long."

It might give him a headache. Instead, Sanae becomes the focus of Reiji's dread attentions.

"A monk lady all about harmony between man and spirit, huh?" Interesting. Must be Buddhist, Reiji concludes. They're always all about that kind of harmonious sort of thing. He's kind of one, himself! Only he's also Shinto and, and maybe Taoist. It's weird. "Might have to put in some time to visit, then. It'd be nice to get that kind of perspective."

Hayashiro does... Impossibly adorable things. Reiji tries not to stare. It's tough, because he also kind of wants to go over there and pat her head. REIJI REMAINS STRONG, THOUGH.
Kongou     "...Kongou said--" Hayashimo starts, and is interrupted when Sanae surrenders to the cute and hugs her, disrupting the destroyer for a moment. Getting measurably quieter, she continues, "...Ph-philidelphia cheese steak. ...For your dinner." Despite the shrine maiden hanging off her, she holds the sandwich up for the angel to take, listing somewhat to one side.

"...Since Kongou is on anti-air exercises. ...she gave me this mission."

For trying to be quiet and unintrusive, Hayashimo sure seems to be pulling a lot of attention somehow. Such is the life of destroyers.
Xiaomu Xiaomu is about to say something else when a blinking red light catches her attention, and she grimaces, getting to her feet. "I'd love to stay and chat some more, but if I don't go up and plug my 3DS in, I'll lose all my progress since starting the boss fight ... I'll see you all around, I'm sure!"

The 3DS goes into a pocket of her vest, she collects her monk staff, and after a polite bow to the group, she heads for the elevator.
Sanae Kochiya     A fingersnap is drawn from Sanae, with that, as she is suddenly reminded of her original, actual purpose of coming here, and granting Hayashimo a reprieve, though she sticks close in case she does something adorable again. Wouldn't want to miss out! "So Miss Mokou is adapting well? Hmm...so it's like that." When you're an immortal fire person, she supposes you have to have hobbies. A smile is on her face, as the Destroyer finally completes the Boston Express run, and she holds back from trying to give her a congratulatory pat on the head. She doesn't seem *that* much younger than her, especially since the priestess isn't considering chronological age here. That gets weird in Gensokyo. "Never thought I'd get a chance to work alongside Mister Psyber, so this is going to be interesting! I mean, I get worried sometimes, when I think of how much he must miss out on, being stuck behind that desk."

It seems she has more than a few mistaken first impressions to go around. Dare anyone break her heart?

Kanako simply gives a satisfied smile, to the notices of arrangements. "Excellent. We will handle things on our end, as well." When you're a god, there's not much problem actually transporting shrine materials. When allowed, she will simply set up a small shrine in one of the many spare rooms of the tower, with some ever tasteful onbashira. For the sake of being guests here, she will find a way around the shedding snakes and singing frogs. "Feel free to call on us for any of your investigations, or if you need a bit more -- firepower. Though Sanae is usually the one that handles that for us." Suwako takes this moment, since she couldn't keep herself from it any longer, to hop up on Sanae's back, clinging around with a clearly practiced ease, as the priestess wobbles but soon stabilizes. "Sanae," comes Suwako's even-toned but cheerful instruction, "Be a good girl and treat Psyber's word like you would ours, when he asks you to do a job, okay!"

Sanae gives a soft laugh, but seems well at ease with this, herself. "Yeah, I understand!" Reiji had wondered about this monk, though, and seemed to want to visit Gensokyo again, so she glances between him and Xiaomu, thoughtfully sparing a hand to tap her cheek while she continues carting the frog-aspected goddess around. "She is friendly, I think, and she would likely welcome visitors. There are a lot of youkai around her place, but she generally keeps them in line. You and your partner are welcome in Gensokyo any time--ah," she calls after Xiaomu, "Please give me your friend code next time!"
