Gaius Van Baelsar The Deeper Regions are a gold mine when it comes to resource finding and this making it no small wonder why the Dravanian Knights have claimed such a location to use for their own purposes. Though unlike the Crystal Valley that was hit yesterday, this location can not fit some of their larger equipment, forcing the use of man power and worrying for some, actual dragons from Dravan.

It took a bit for the XIV Legion to even figure out the Dravanians were here and it was only when they started pumping the Ceruleum did they know it, thanks to the "aetheric" flow flux in the area. The trouble is, due to matters that can't be really explained. Those that come here, are on their own, but they are given three Vanguards to help in making a hole into the base.

Which is probably a good thing! The Dravanians have fenced up the area with metal walls from cavern floor to ceiling, locking it up tight with security, auto-weapons, and men at ready. They /know/ this is their last hold out and they know they are going to get hit by those Gaius Van Baelsar has hired.

It is only a matter of when and how...
Gaonoir Pff. On his own was how he worked best these days.

Though the extra 'toys' to make an entrance isn't going to be frowned on, because it just lets him conserve his own energy.

Not that Gaonoir was to be seen. Save the occasional flicker in the shadows of the Vanguards as they move towards their position. They're just suppose to go do their thing. Either they'll make a hole, or someone will come out to try and stop them, and he'll get in that way. Until then, he lurked, and waited. It sounded like these Dravanians were pretty cocky. Maybe only seeing three big robots would use that to his advantage.
Gaius Van Baelsar Once the timer activated, the Vanguards came online fully and started to make their way. They were tall machines, which made pretty nice shadows and given this place was only illuminated by the lights that were on or by the natural cavern ambiance, would make Gaonoir's skills very useful here.

Once the Vanguards started to make their approach the automated weaponry started to open fire. As one took most the hits, the other two rushed ahead, their cermet drill arms rotating at rapid speeds as they slammed them into the wall. Pounding after pounding, they tried to tear into the metal walls.

Sparks were flying off as the drills were cutting in, though the other Vanguard was eventually mowed down and exploded in a slight of blue flames that rushed for the ceiling wall. The Ceruleum fire dancing across the roof of the cave for a short moment, casting the place in an eerie blue light.

The main gate opened as several of the knights came out to meet the Vanguards, gunblades blazing as bullets ringed against the dark and white armor of the mechanized machines. The dragon armored knights even raced out with their gunspears to strike at the Garlean Magitek machines, but a few of them were knocked aside.

It was only when one of the Dravan Wyvern dragons rushed out and tackled down a Vanguard did things start to go bad for the machines. The Wyvern bit down into the head of the machine, before ripping it right off the hinges and then crushing it between its jaws. Another one went to tackle the other Vanguard, breathing flames right onto its joints, before kicking with a shove to watch it explode.
Gaonoir If someone was watching close enough, they might notice that as the Vanguard topples over, it's shadow moves in a direction that completely mismatchs the angle the limited lighting should be casting it at. Only to break up and away from the shadow itself and take the form of a small canine like creature.

That's already in mid-rush towards the gate. Dragon Knights in the way? That might be a problem still...

"ROLLING COUNTER!"

... Or not as Gaonoir leaps mid-charge and curls into a spinning ball of blackness to plow right through them and into the facility behind before they can close the gates again.
Gaius Van Baelsar Gaonoir is indeed spotted by one of the Dragon Knights, "Close the gate!" One of the roars out. The two Wyverns even look in the direction, however by that point its already to late...
Gaonoir slams into one of the Knights, knocking him aside, before getting past the wall. The gates actually closing behind him even as a Dragon Knight yells out, "Override! Override!" The curse sometimes of technology, but it will buy Gaonoir some time.

Well, somewhat.

Past the gate, the area is well protected, because in here, pumps of different sizes, kinds, and such all run to converter wells and the processed material turned Ceruleum runs to a portal and through it. Camps have been lined up around the area, including making use of a natural underground waterfall as technical bathing place for all the workers.

The area though was on alert and as such though, several more Knights were heading for Gaonoir's direction. Taking shots at a distance. Snipers were quickly moving into position and also opening fire. The Dragons though... They were watching for now, keeping their distance. Perhaps sensing something off about the odd dog creature, or were just buying their time to strike.
Gaonoir Gaonoir tumbles out of the rolling attack as the gate slams down behind him, snorting softly. "Idiots." But that's far from the end of it and he knows it. More guards were already on the move from the camp, long range attackers getting into position, and those... dragonish things. Eh, worry about those when they decide to butt in.

Of course, the first issue they might have is that as he crouchs a bit and clenches his gloved fists, Gaonoir is -smiling-. And it's not a pleasant one, either. More like the creepy grin you'd see on a predator. "Oh good, I was hoping you would make this -entertaining-." Then holding up the gloves in front of himself to shield his face from the first couple of shots, before disappearing(?) again.

Disappearing isn't quite accurate, but that's probably what it would look the most like the knights. Where did he go?

"SHADOW UPPER"

Promptly answered as the same canine leaps out of the shadows of one of the Knights themselves with a fist uppercuting towards his helmeted head. Only to twist mid-air with the attack and kick one of his feet at another Knight, grab his gunlance with his other gloved paw and whip it towards the other guards.

Whatever this creature is, he's clearly experienced with fighting multiple foes (maybe even entire squadrons) on his own.
Gaius Van Baelsar Gaonoir vanishes it seems, before he upper cuts one of the Knights knocking him head over heels and then quickly dispatching several more. Though while they lay on the ground trying to recover, snipers at last take their chance and start to aim down at the small Digimon pup.

Trying to pin him down with shots, as a few knights recover and trying to make swings. They were trying their best to deal with the very quick foe, including one who seem to just manipulate the actual shadows around them.

As the Dragons watched this, one of the larger wyrms narrowed his eyes. There was a low rumble as he looked at two others. Motioning his head to them for the portal. It seems the Dravanians have decided instead of fighting, they would leave. However the large wrym motions over at a few things to a few wyverns.

They nod their heads and start to head in that direction. It seems where several Ceruleum tanks were along with one of the processing bins.
Gaonoir The shadowy digimon practically dances around the sniper fire to avoid getting shot. But it does limit his evasive room when he's got several attackers to worry about at once, and even in evading the gunfire one of the Knights gets in a good swing that slams into his small form and flings him across the cavern. Gaonoir slams into a cluster of pipes, the impact echoing as he flumps down to the ground.

With a growl he uses one arm to pick himself up, headband tails flicking around as he shakes his head and looks up. Up past the knights to where the wyverns are moving. As they're closer to the portal, it doesn't take a tactical genius to conclude they're moving for the supplies to leave. "... Bingo."

Shadows ripple as the digimon gets up, grinning again. It probably isn't as disruptive to the Dravaian magitech as it is normal technology, but the sudden spike in energy consolidating upon him is still hard to miss, the darkness enveloping around him....

...Only to explode outward like a shockwave as a larger more humanoid form erupts from it, blurring of speed and shadows surging past the knights in its wake. It's not until it nears the wyverns that there's a brief damatic slow-down, just long enough to make out the now Perfect stage digimon for a split-second.

Just before the momentum sends one of his massive metal fists for the head of one of the wyverns.
Dorian Pavus     It looks like Dorian's late to the party!  Fashionably late, of course.  He does still seem to be favoring the leg that was hit last time, but aside from that he seems at least able to fight still.  He wasn't here for the intial breakdown, but he knew basically what they were supposed to be doing.  Taking things or blowing things up.  He could do that.

The darkness ... teleporting ... person appears to have switched targets, and Dorian is not confident in his ability to take on a dragon alone.  His experience with them is ... less than optimal.  So he instead goes for the Knights that were targeting Gaonoir.  He aims an explosive rune under their feet and lets it go, hoping to send as many as possible skyward.
Gaius Van Baelsar The Dragons are caught of by this, much like the knights were. Gaonoir vanishes yet again, has changed forms and slams down on one of the Wyvern's thick skulls. The scales crack under the impact and the Wyvern cries out in pain.

The other takes offense to this and leaps over to try and tackle down the Perfect Digimon with his talon feet.

Dorian arrives just in time it seems, because while Gaonoir deals with the Wyverns, the snipers are taking aim. That was until the explosive rune sends them off their feet and crashing down below. The dragons outside the gate that Gaonoir ditched earlier, along with a few of the knights at last get past the gate as it opens.

These Knights, along with the Wyverns seem to lock onto Dorian, as the knights open fire, the two Wyverns go charging right for Mage...
Gaonoir Gaonoir hahs. "Not nearly as tough as the last dragon I dealt wi--oof!" Like most cocky people Gaonoir gets caught when he takes a moment to stroke his ego and the other Wyvern smashes into him. He slams into the ground, barely rolling over in time for the Wyvern to land on top of him and dig those talons in, and snarl at him. "Ugh." Gaonoir grabs one end of his bomber scarf to wipe off his visor. "Stop foggin' up my shades with your raunchy dragon drool."

He glances over in the direction the other explosion came from, seeing the Mage and the others coming from the now open gates. Emits a soft growl. While he doesn't particularly care about others involved, he doesn't really want more reinforcements dragging out this fight, either. So it's mainly out of proximity proxy that he barks at Dorian. "Get down!"

Then grabs the Wyvern's face and pushes him back, just enough so he can turn his upper body more in the direction of the others rushing towards the Mage. It's not entirely relevant to the technique, but he sucks in a heavy breath much like a fabled wolf would.

"HOWLBACK CANNOOOOOOON!" The last syllable draws out into what is very much a high pitched howl as the electrified sonic shockwave blasts towards the interlopers. Hope Dorian heard him soon enough to get out of the way. Not that the noise he's making NOW is easy to miss.
Dorian Pavus     Oh that was the last thing Dorian needed!  Suddenly he finds himself with multiple enemies targeting him.  There's no time to pick them off one by one, and an ice wall isn't going to be much use here.  But a WALL OF FIRE might, considering he's much better with fire than ice.

But he's not taking any chances.  Just his luck that would be a fire dragon.  And he's familiar with what other worlds call 'Murphy's Law'.  So he's getting out of the way of the approaching wyvern!

A side effect of this is that Dorian is also put well out of the way of Gaonoir's attack.  Besides, yes, that is a really hard sound to miss.  "Thanks for the warning!" he calls out in return.
Gaius Van Baelsar The Wyvern snarls at Gaonoir even as the Husky(?) Hybrid tries to act like its no big deal. It snaps his teeth at him and Gaonoir may start to see flames building deep down in its maw. This is about the time that Gaonoir does shove up the dragon's face so when he does breath out the fire, its aimed upward.

Thankfully Gaonoir is being a team player today, even if by chance, and the shockwave he sends out slams into the group before they can even react correctly. Though one of the wyverns over there does try to escape.

As for the other wyvern that Gaonoir is dealing with. It hopes up on the cargo and snarls down at the Shadow dog as it speaks in draconic, which is translated by the Multiverse's own abilities. <"You will end here!">

With a bite down of the binding, breaking the hold, the barrels of aetheric ceruleum are sent rushing down toward Gaonoir and the other Wyverm. The one wyvern up high rears back his head ad heaves fire at the containers as they roll down igniting them on fire.

This means the Wyvern that is fighting with Gaonoir tries to break free, at least before the Ceruleum explode outward in a massive bloom of blue fire and shaking the very area as the shockwave roars across the campsite!

This actually knocks a few of the knights right off their feet and a few of the dragons rush through the portal. The larger Wyrm however, who towers over everything here observes this, not even phased by the shockwave as his nostrils flare gently.

"You damn dragons!" One of the knights roars out. "You damn dirty dragons!"

The Wyvern simply snorts. "You die for a better cause." It says as it then uses its massive claws to break the pipe. "And you will join with Bahamut in his blessing for you great acts." He then throws the pumping pipes of blue liquid toward the camp. Slowly tons of blue liquid starts to fill the area, aetheric energy starting to flow out from the open pipes as the area starts to get cast in a fog.

A few of the knights start coughing, gagging almost. The aetheric fog apparently perhaps poisonous, with the ceruleum burnable, this is not a great combination to be in.
Dorian Pavus     Great.  There goes Dorian's only means of attack.  Fire and lightning are really all he's got.  But even though it's not his best, Winter school magic is hardly his worst school.  Remembering the way he'd managed to stop the Ceruleum from exploding the last time, Dorian aims a large-range ice spell at the Ceruleum, hoping to freeze as much of it as possible.

It's not just one spell, though.  It's many.  Magic after magic, spell after spell, until he can freeze as much of the Ceruleum as possible.  He quickly begins to feel the effects of overburn starting-- the lightheadedness, the feeling that he was starting to sink through the ground.

And to the Knights who can still hear him, he calls out, "Look!  Your master has abandoned you!  He's said so himself!  Retreat now, while you still can!  Don't try for heroism, it's meaningless here!  Most heroes are only called that once they're dead!"
Gaonoir "And they call me a jackass," Gaonoir retorts as the dragons start blowing up the camp for them to make their own escape. Plus sacrificing their 'lesser' allies in the process of doing so. But first, there's the Donkey Kong thing with the exploding falling barrels to deal with. To which he rolls over, and lets loose of the Wyvern that was struggling with him... though now said Wyvern is on the side of the incoming barrels, giving the digimon a moment to get up and dash away from the avalanche. And the busted pipes spilling their volatile contents. And a big mess in general as the destruction is falling almost literally on his heels.

"Screw dying for their 'better cause'." The irony of the whole sacrifice the followers isn't lost on Gaonoir, but there's not really a long time to dwell on the matter. Metal feet kick up some rock as they dig in when the Digimon skids to a stop near the Mage and the Knights. "What he said."

A metal fist slams into one of the flaming barrels, ignoring the backblast scorching his arm as Gaonoir slugs it back in the direction it came from, giving Dorian enough time to start freezing the liquid. "Wouldn't you rather live and face up for what you've caused," a spinning kick knocks anotehr barrel away from them, "Than die for no cause at all?"

A chunk of flaming machinery dislodged by the explosions hurtles towards them, only for it to slam into Gaonoir instead as he jumps up to catch it, the force against his body still knocking the cyber-wolf backwards. Until he ignites his thrusters for a hover, spins around, and heaves the machinery away again.

Towards the portal. Hard to tell if that is just the way his spinning throw took it, or if it was an actual attempt to destroy the gateway and trap the dragons in their own devestation.
Gaius Van Baelsar The dragons are making their get away. Even as Gaonoir tries to sabotage it. The large wyrm simply knocks it back and while Dorian attempts to freeze the Ceruleum, the wreckage coming back cracks the ice and several of the knights fall over from the Aetheric poisoning.

That large winged lizard looks back at everything and then goes through the portal which closes behind him. It is the simple matter of clean up and getting out of here, before he aetheric fog gets to them. Even as the tanks start to run dry and things start to clear up.

In one way, at least the mission was a partial success, even if there was a mess behind it all.
Gaonoir While not as susceptable to it as the truely organic beings here are, Gaonoir was starting to feel the sting of how not kind that chemical vapor is. And that is what probably motivates his next choice in actions more than anything else. Which is get out of here.

Granted, under all that jackassery and darkness he does have some sense of honor. A little. How is he suppose to eventually be a Royal Knight without some honor, after all? It's just it's application that one needs to be careful about.

Or maybe he just feels nice about it since Dorian did help, that he grabs the mage with one arm. "Hold on." And for whatever reason grabs the knights still standing with them under the other arm. Maybe a bit of that sense of justice, dark as it may be, wants to see them serve for their transgressions.

Whatever the reasons, they're being kept to himself as Gaonoir fires his boosters and rockets the lot of them out of the cavern. That 'Mach' in Machgaogamon isn't just for show after all.
Dorian Pavus     Hopefully freezing the Ceruleum will keep it more or less contained.  Dorian misses the leaving dragons for that reason-- he's still trying to keep the Ceruleum from killing EVERYONE.  Once the dragons leave though, and things start to lcear up, Dorian stops in his casting.  He's visibly exhausted, and breathing heavily.

Suddenly Gaonoir is picking him up.  " ... Thank you."  Hopefully Gaonoir has a good grip ... because about then Dorian's eyes unfocus and he just sort of ... goes lax.  His eyes are open, though.  He looks like he's just sort of spacing out.

The conflict in his mind isn't readily apparent.  But at least this time he's not spacing out in the middle of a battle with something that can literally destroy a whole world on its own.  Which is an improvement!
