Shin Tokuyama     The Diablo Desert is as hot and abyssmal as ever, but once again ready for two WMAT combatants to fight. Today, Shin has eschewed his normal suit and instead of wearing a pair of loose-fitting pants, some high-top sneakers, and a white tanktop instead. Despite this, he's still sweating fairly heavily as the sun beats down overhead.
He wipes some sweat from his brow and hops up and down in the sand, waiting for his opponent. Unlike Shizune, he's never heard of Dex Alruin aside from some brief participation in a former WMAT before this one.
Dex Alruin     Another year, another WMAT. Dex's second appearance... likely wouldn't be much different from the first, especially without the Abstractum net backing him up this time. Legenia has been left behind, a simple metallic longbow resting across his back instead alongside a quiver of arrows. Unlike Shin, who seems dressed for the weather, Dex is in full combat loadout. He had to be in order to even stand a ghost of a chance, after all. The crimson duster, fedora, and the light that engulfs his bow when he draws it all speak to his Undefined status, the getup providing only mild defenses at best. He narrows his eyes, drawing an arrow from his quiver and nocking it as he approaches.

"Let's get this over with," he says. Despite his confident stance, it's clear that the sole Champion of Earth's Realm is expecting a swift and certain defeat. "This is just time I could spend recovering, after all."
Shin Tokuyama     "Man, that's some defeatist attitude, you got there, man," Shin says as he flexes and pops his back and shoulders a bit, shifting his stance around, "I mean, win or lose, you should always try to learn something from any fight. I lose most of my fights, anyway, but the point is to learn something to make you better from each one," He notes as he finishes up stretching.
"Cool outfit, though," Shin decides as he finally shifts his stance to a more traditional posture and flexing his hands, "But if you wanna start right out, alright," He notes in an acquiescing sort of voice tone.
With a flicker of red energy, he dashes forward at a pretty good clip of speed, aiming a straight punch for Dex's chest.
Dex Alruin     Dex is the structural equivalent of tissue paper. While a stronger Elite might take the punch Shin levels with ease, Dex feels as though his chest is caved in by the strike. He's blasted back, sliding along the ground before falling to a stop several yards away. He staggers back to his feet, coughing. There's already blood trickling from his lips. "Tch... Don't lecture me. I already know that. The difference is you don't have the fate of an entire plane of existance depending on you and you alone. Yeah, I'm negative. Look at what you've already done to me..."

He raises his bow, closing one eye as he lines up his shot. "Here's the thing, though. I have an idea. And if it works, then I might actually stand a chance in the fights that matter. So don't hold back!" He looses the arrow, and hot on its wake are seven more, fired in different directions in almost the blink of an eye to cover the spread. "I must be crazy, taking just my skills into a fight. This... this better work!"
Shin Tokuyama     "Plane of existence or no, you should come to every fight, even the ones you know you'll lose, like a learning experience," Shin comments as he taps his foot in the sand and flexes his hands again, "I'm not trying to lecture you, I just don't wanna fight a defeatist."
"YEAH!" Shin shouts in agreement as the guy tells Shin not to hold back. The blonde man grins, brushing the hair from his heterochromatic eyes, "That's the spirit!" He encourages to Dex, even while the arrows let fly. Shin darts in, moving forward.
Dex's Arrow catches him right in the side, opening a gash through his tanktop that stains his side red with the running of blood, "I'll give you some tips, too! Keep moving! You're an archer! Make me chase you!"
To try to get Dex going, Shin doesn't attack Dex so much as shoulder-bump him in the chest to try to get him on the move.
Dex Alruin     Shoulder bump to Shin is critical damage to Dex. It sends him sprawling across the desert, and his fedora snaps out of existence like it had never been there to begin with. He reclaims his feet, but it's clear that blow cleaned his clock a bit. He coughs up a bit more blood, and shakes his head. "We're in an open area, and my... stamina's already taking a hit due to my lungs being damaged," he says, shaking his head. There's a bit of a wheeze in his words. "Moving would just make this end faster. So I'm going to put that in the 'save for later' pile." He grabs an arrow from his sheath, turning toward Shin before lunging at his opponent.

He doesn't look like he's going to shoot him this time, but instead swings the bow like a sword, aiming to whack Shin with the weapon before stabbing with the arrow. "Defeatist? No. I'm a realist. I know I'm going to lose. I knew I had no chance from the beginning. Doesn't mean I'm not going to fight, it just means that I'm not going to fool myself," he says. He moves away from Shin, that eerie wheeze punctuating his movements.
Shin Tokuyama     "Alright!" Shin comments, grinning, "That's what I like to hear! Sorry to misreading your attitude then, my man. My bad, there!" He notes as he ducks under the bow as it's swung around him and weaves around the arrow, letting it narrowly miss him as he pulls back and away from Dex. The martial artist resets his stance a few yards away from Dex after pulling back.
"Cool. I can totally give you more tips, then," Shin notes as he flexes his hands, "Martial artist like me, you wanna aim for legs and elbows. We use them for leverage and moves a lot," The young man seems more than content to give Dex fighting tips even while he lunges in for another lunge, this time aimed at the young man's solar plexus.
Dex Alruin     Dex nods, smirking for the first time in the fight. Sure, he's sent reeling again by another punch, his body already showing strong signs of weakening. His face is pale as he spits up a gob of bloody mucus, shaking his head a bit to clear the cobwebs. He faces away from Shin, nodding a bit at his words. Then, without a word, he spins, drawing his bow back.

With no arrow. What? Is he completely rattled?

As he releases the string, he seems to wince slightly. Before an ethereal arrow shoots forth, igniting into silver flames as it splits the air. Dex grips his head, clearly still working on this particular skill. Oddly enough, one might, for just a moment, see a little bar appear above the boy's head. Empty at first, it seems to fill a little with yellow energy. A tiny number 3 sits next to it in shining yellow text. That's... weird.
Shin Tokuyama     Shin's hit lands and he feels it send Dex back. After it does so, he resumes his basic stance and then gets ready for Dex's follow-up. Despite the weird mis-match, Shin seems at least determined to help Dex better himself for the future. After all, the guy did say an entire plane of existence depends on him, so there's that.
Shin takes a defensive stance as the bow is drawn, but is given pause when he can't see the arrow that is about to be fired. Of course, this vanishes when the soulfire arrow comes in streaking towards him. He puts his arms up to try to block it, letting it explode in silver flames and energy as it hits his ki-reinforced forearms, opening them up in a spray of blood and some scorched forearms.
"Haha, wow guy. That was pretty cool. You got some crazy potential, man. I'd love to fight you when you hit your apex," Shin comments, coiling his hand back, "But I can do that trick too. It's about focusing your ki, yeah? Or your spiritual energy?"
He thrusts his hand forward, sending a red blast of ki shaped like a fireball towards Dex, "Ryuuken!"
Dex Alruin     As the Soulfire lands, Dex seems to recover his faculties a bit. He offers a small smirk, but shakes his head. "Ki? No. It's my soul. I tear a part of it out and turn it into an arrow. Hurts like a mother, though." He twirls his bow, but is unable to do much else before Shin launches a fireball at him. The red light around his bow flickers, but doesn't fade out quite yet. He straightens up, his body smoking and clearly burnt from the attack, but he seems to still be standing. That bar flashes above his head again, filling a little more. "Alright. How about... this?" He draws an arrow... then two more and nocks them in a line. He draws back, closing his eyes as though preparing for a shock. All that happens, though, is his arrows ignite with the silver flames from before. "I can manifest the fire on a physical arrow, too. A gift from my first victim, if you will," he notes. He shifts his aim...

Then lets the arrows loose, the three shots fanning out at knee level to Shin to try and gain some manner of leverage. "Fireball, huh? How do you do that?"
Shin Tokuyama     "Haha, the Fireball? It's not too different from what you described," Shin says as he adjusts his footing, "Only instead of tearing off a piece, I just learned how to draw on the energy while leaving it intact. That's what Ki is, man, soul energy. You learn to harness it instead of just brute forcing it. Focus on that, it'll make your move hurt less," He advises.
Of course, giving the advice also makes him distracted enough to take an arrow straight to the calf that opens up a pretty decent looking wound. Shin lets out a yelp of pain and hops up and down before reaching down to yank the arrow out of his leg and toss it into the sand, "Damn, man. See, now you're getting it."
His ability to dash and maneuver somewhat impeded, Shin springs up and forward with his good leg, trying to rotate in the air and bring that same leg around for a spinning kick aimed at Dex's own legs as he descends, trying to take them out from under him.
Dex Alruin     Dex's movements are hampered by the fact that he is a weaker Elite than most. His speed is sluggish, his attacks don't penetrate the way someone else's would, and his endurance is laughable. So when Shin seems unimpeded by the arrow to the leg, Dex isn't overly surprised. However, that bar flashes again, filling a bit more. Still a long way from being full, but maybe it means something?

Dex is sent flying yet again, his body rolling across the desert sand. The light around his bow snaps out of existence, and he pushes up again, albeit a bit more slowly. He draws another arrow, gripping it tightly as he nocks it. There's no apparent lightshow this time. No, instead it seems to be another flurry. His arrows, five in total, split the air rapidly, sailing toward Shin with all the intent Dex can put behind them. "Draw it without tearing it? That... would help, but I dunno if I even can." He winces as he lowers his bow, shaking his head. "Even I can feel you're not going all out. Step it up, would you? I need to test this theory."
Shin Tokuyama "Fine, fine. You asked for it," Shin says to Dex as he limp-runs forward again. Even with the damaged calf, he still has some good speed behind him due to ki reinforcement and his natural tolerance for pain, "I'll step it up a bit," He cautions to Dex while he goes.
His next attack is pretty harsh. He sweeps in low, aiming an elbow for Dex's gut, followed by two switch punches to the center of his chest with blinding speed, "Harnessing it instead of tearing it is all about perspective," He says as he attacks.
After the attack, he hops back a bit and lifts his hand, "You view your soul as the resource. Instead, you need to treat it as what generates the resource. Use the energy of your soul, not the soul itself."
Dex Alruin     Dex braces himself, knowing that he was about to recieve what he asked for. "Well... at least I did better than I expected...!" he winces, before the blows rain in. He's doubled over after the elbow, and then the smashes into his chest cause very loud and very nasty sounding cracks. The last bit of Dex's armor, his duster, vanishes with a snap, before the boy sinks to the dirt. Ribs and sternum are no doubt broken, and there's a lot of blood spilling from his lips. He shudders, screaming as...

    He pushes himself back up.

His eyes are empty, and his scream fades away to nothing as he totters back to his feet. But he's in bad shape. His chest is clearly caved in a bit, and the rasping sound of his breathing probably isn't healthy. Can... can he even attack in this state? His arms raise, moving in a practiced fashion...

Before he pitches forward, eyes fluttering shut as he collapses to the ground. He's not even trying to get back up again.
Shin Tokuyama     "Haaa, come on. Show it to me! Get the attack out!" Shin shouts encouragingly at the injured Dex, hopping up and down, "Hit me with it! I believe in you, man! You got the potential for this!" Shin says, waving both hands at himself as he tries to cheer Dex on.
Shin lets out a gentle scowl as he falls over again. He's not upset at Dex, but more at himself for hitting the guy too hard so his attack couldn't come out. He kicks the sand a bit and then hunches over the fallen down Dex, "Dude, you got balls. I will give you that much, man. And you ain't even partway into your climb to power, anyone can see that."
Shin sorta starts to stand up again, "You oughta recover, but when you hit your upper limit, I can't wait to see the kinda guy you become."
Dex Alruin     Dex trembles slightly, as though he's still conscious of Shin's words. However, it may just be a muscle spasm, as he doesn't move again. His breathing is labored and hard, and it's clear he's got no fight left in him.
