Yari Takane Having a cover as a notable culinarian can prove quite the advantage, even for someone so distinctive as Yari. Dressed in casual adventuring clothes with a loose kimono over them, a fishing rod and frying pan on her person, she certainly fits what little a typical Eorzean may have heard of the 'Fishing Fiend' Aiko.

Getting into Ul'dah with enough bribes, bluster, and forged permits took a bit of doing, but here she is. The adventurer's tavern hasn't gotten her much in actual information just yet, and so noting a few frays on her kimono, she's taken a jaunt over to the famous weaver's guild.

And seems to be arguing with a Galka easily over two times her height.

"...what does being an Au'Ra have to do with this?"

"Yer lot threw in with the damn Garleans!"

"What do you think I'm here to get away from!? My coin's good either way. I'll pay double the usual price."

The argument keeps going, at an increasingly loud volume.

And seems to be arguing with a Galka easily over two times her height.

"...what does being an Au'Ra have to do with this?"

"I'm not wasting good thread on some dragon-loving wench!"

"Wh...dragon lo...idiot! We Au'Ra are completely without dragon's blood! Who even taught you nonesense like that!?"

The argument keeps going, at an increasingly loud volume.
Alice Margatroid     Ul'dah. Alice, herself, sticks out like a sore thumb especially with a pair of dolls floating around her. Wandering the streets of Ul'dah, the dollmaker herself looks quite lost without the guide she was waiting for. Shaking her head, she looks to both Shanghai and Hourai, giving a light shrug. "Where is this weavers place..." she muttered to the two before walking off towards another square. "This place is big..."

Seeing a sign that looked like it had a spool fo thread upon it, Alice nods, "I think we found it." Then the yelling started. "Today just got interesting..." she muttered, heading off towards the direction of the Weaver's Guild and the shouting. "Mmm?"

The sight was something... a large in both directions being and a girl with a scaled tail and other features... "What's with the yelling?"
Yari Takane Both the large and small of the pair turn at Alice's voice, blinking as one. The argument stalls for an uncomfortable moment, then they're pointing at each other!

"This piece of trash dragon is trying to get clothes that are too good for a dragon-lover!"

"This bastard is spouting lies like a fool!" Glaaaare! Yari leans up to peer at the Galka.

He does, however, finally note Alice for real!

"But you're welcome to purchase! Not like this one!"

Yari's face goes red in pure fury, hand clenching in anger.
Alice Margatroid     Cue two tiny and one normal facepalms... "Eorzea has all types, doesn't it..." Alice mutters under her breath, turning to look between the Galka and the Au Ra. "So, you want to purchase something.. he won't sell it to you because... you look like a dragon." Alice shakes her head a bit and turns towards the Galka...

"With due respect, and as a new person here, she doesn't look like any dragon I've encountered. She doesn't look to have claws, she doesn't seem to breathe fire... except maybe with her passion for wanting good looking clothing here. NOt to defend her or anything, I just came for thread for my dolls." a look between Hourai and Shanghai...

"And you.." a look towards Yari, "Dragon lover? I'm afraid I'm not sure what he is talking about, the dragons I've seen are quite big and you're small..."
Yari Takane By now, put so bluntly, the Galka is blushing. The man gulps. "M...well. DRagon's blood and..." His argument ends weakly.

Yari nods her head. "Correct! My kimono has been fraying and I need the services of a competent weaver. However, I'll be finding it with a group that is /reputable/! After I render my complaints to the Ul'Dah guild authority!" Her kimono is definitely frayed, the lovely handiwork having seen quite a bit of rough travel.

Then Yari's just about to turn around and leave!

Despite his trembling, the Galka gets more fire.

"Oi! Are you insulting the weaver's guild!? I have pugilist friends you know!?"
Alice Margatroid     Alice gives a curious humn, Hourai and Shanghai pulling out some thread and a needle with a bright smile on Shanghai's face and a nod on Hourai's. "MIss, can I see the sleeve?" then she turns to the Galka... "Well, you did insult her first from the yelling I've heard, I'm surprised she hasn't done what she was going to do already. But, I am just an idle visitor so my view may be not of this society's standards, my apologies."

She turns back to Yari, "I know a bit of sewing myself, nothing that the likes of this place could produce.." a bit of buttering up, "But it is passable in Gensokyo. I could patch up that kimono some to make it more servicable to last a few more months until you can find someone proper to repair your garment." a look towards the two dolls, "I did happen to make their outfits myself."
Yari Takane Yari blinks in surprise, then offers over the arm. She mentally swats herself. Of /course/ a seamstress would go to the weaver's guild.

"I see. Ma'am, I'll be repaying you. What would be appropriate?" She stands a little taller, her bearing oddly military for a woman of her dress.

The Galka by now is sulking.

"...Fine. You can both buy. Just don't linger."

But Yari's attention is already on the dolls.

"What are they? Magitek? Ah...Gensokyo? I am unfamiliar."
Alice Margatroid     Alice nods, beaming the Galka a bright smile. "Thank you." and both Hourai and Shanghai bow in kind before dragging the Au Ra over away from the counter. "No need to stand here to interrupt buisness, as for payment..." a pause, "No one has offered so I do not mind." she takes a look over the kimono and nods, moving to get to work.

Hourai tilts her head at the word Magitek. "What's that?" she questions, "Magitek. Is that the magic you use here? Is it like danmaku?" Shanghai's cheerful voice shakes her head, "I think she's asking about /us/ in particular!" "We're dolls."

Alice shakes her head, "This is Hourai and Shanghai, I created them. They're my two most handcrafted dolls and autonomous." Alice replies in kind, "Is there something wrong with the sight of them, they can walk too but flight is preferred." needle goes in, needle goes out as her eyes scan the room then back to the kimono. "Tsk... you haven't been keeping up maintenance on this. You may have to visit someone to get a more complete fix."
Yari Takane Yari leans against a wall, her tail yoinking out a pipe and a light as Alice gets to work. She's soon puffing away, adding smoke if not fire to the dragon.

Hourai and Shanghaiboth get tiny little pats on the head with the tip of her tail! Sometimes being nice to magical things helps.

"Magitek is the craft of using machinery to induce aetheric reactions, be it the powering of said machinery, lighting, and various other purposes. For instance, creating magically active servants, such as those. I don't hear any moving parts. Are your dolls purely aetheric...ahh, right, outsider. 'Magic' fuels them?"

"Mmm. Not necessarily, but the guard may be unused to such things. Best to not flaunt them for their sake." She offers.

Her eyes close. "A simple patch will do, thank you. I should be able to find a more permanent solution when I leave Ul'dah. Here." She pulls out a small coinpurse of gil, and two coupons. They're for the local adventurer's tavern.

"I won a raffle prize, but the road calls me soon. Aiko, culinarian and traveller. It's a pleasure to meet you, Ma'am."
Alice Margatroid     The two dolls give a light smile at the headpats, though light for Shanghai is still pretty big. Alice, however, looks up from her work with the explination of Magitek. "Ah... they're actually made like a normal doll, I just infuse them with magic and... well. The process is ... complicated." she shakes her head, looking at the two before patching up some of the rougher spots.

When she's done, she takes the coinpurse and coupons, tilting her head, "Oh, is this the local currency?" and a quick rememberance at the slight of not introducing herself, she gives her curtsey. "Alice Margatroid. Dollmaker, magician. A pleasure, Aiko." a look around, "You said ae...se reic..? I was told I could find some cloth and thread that could hold a great deal of it."
Yari Takane Eyes go a little wide at the two dolls! "Mmm. Advanced. I can't say I've encountered something like that in my travels. You may wish to visit the various magical guilds in Eorzea." She suggests, before nodding.

"Aether, magical energy. A majority of the population possesses it, in varying amounts. I'm no mage, however." She shrugs.

"Try our galka friend, he might know." She looks over the sleeve, and smiles. "Well done, Miss Margatroid. If you'll excuse me, I have some errands to complete before I leave. If we meet again, I'll have a fish made just for you!" A nod, and then with a bow, she's off!
