Yunomi Stadler     THE DEEP WELLS: A massive complex that lays far below the surface of some of the Izzet Quarter, brushing against some of the boarders of other districts. It was here that construction had begun on a massive Izzet project, when the threat of spiders that spit gouts of flame and the odd Golgari patrol, clashes with guildless mauraders.

And in the midst of this, the project's foreman refused to return to work until someone looked into it.

And now here she stood, looking down into the open maw of jagged, ripped-apart pavement. Electricity sparks every so often, illuminating the several meters-wide hole in the ground as she leaned over incuriosity. Around her head, a small drone burbles and mechanically whines, flashing red and blue.

"... I'm still pretty sure that word wasn't even old Ravnican, yes." she comments, half paying attention to the burbling Izzet security drone.
Kari Wolf     Kari looks around the pipe she finds herself in, walking along with her sister Harriet.. "WOW! This place is so huge! And those spiders were really cool!"
Taller, fully armored, and rabbit like, Kari's sister Harriet sighs. "They weren't cool, they were as big as Ms. Hernandez's Saint Bernard and meaner. They also spit flames at us. We were lucky they couldn't fit in this pipe."
Kari and Harriet peer out of the mouth of a pipe as they notice all the construction stuff going on, and the security drone that's probably picked up on their presence by now.
Kari peers at the site in the dim light. "What do you think they're doing down here? I'll bet it's a super secret government project!"
Harriet actually agrees with Kari, as rare as that is. "... Probably."
Yunomi Stadler     "BZZZZZZZZZZT!" came a loud buzzing from Pidge, and he turned to regard the shinki coming out of the pipe with an withering look in his mana-infused crystaline apatures. Yunomi turns as well, her head tilting slightly. "Funny, I don't remember clearing any Shinki for access." she calls out, taking a step over the edge, and loating in mid-air. Her ears prick up, her fox-like tail giving a few warning lashes. "And Flame SPiders don't /paticularly/ care about what side you're on!" she warns. "Identify yourselves, if you please!"
Kari Wolf     Kari cheerfully salutes. "I'm Kari Wolf and this is my sister Harriet! We're here on accident!"
Harriet turns her gaze back to Yunomi after glancing at Kari and the security drone, and briefly explains. "She decided to press buttons on something she shouldn't have and we ended up in this place."
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi gives an amused little look to twh two, while the drone continues with its ill-temptered buzzing on warning. The mage flicks an ear, and the otherwise human-looking girl stoops own a bit to the face-to-face with the two shinki. "Ah, well if you're lost, I can see you back to the warpgate. It's dangerous in this area, and I'm sure your master wouldn't want you to be damaged." she offers to them.
Kari Wolf     Harriet nods towards Yunomi, much more visible due to her white armor and taller statue. "As long as we can avoid any flame spiders, ma'am."
Kari seems cheerful about the offer, hopping down first and hopping over to Yunomi. "She'd probably appreciate that! What's your name, miss?" She cheerfully waves at the security drone, slightly oblivious to its purpose. Her own drones trail after her, floating along behind her like anti-gravity ducklings."Hi!"
Meanwhile, Harriet jumps down with far more grace to land next to Kari. "It might be faster if you carried us, ma'am." Harriet's rabbit-like sensor vanes on her helmet twitch this way and that as she glances about at the construction crew. She idly wonders why these people have stopped and thinks maybe the security breach that Kari and herself represent may be the reason.
Yunomi Stadler     "And here I thought everyone knew who I was." Yunomi brushes off introduction, and she offers a hand out to the two shinki. "The lame spiders are a bit of a concern, that's true." she offers as an explination, and she glances over to the foreman, a formidable and stout looking goblin, and gives a small nod.

Pidge, that little security drone, meanwhile is talking rapidfire back and forth to other security drones in the sector, seeing if theyu can get a match to the two armored girls for to identify them.

"You two must be from outside Ravnica. Where're you from?" she idly asks.
Kari Wolf     Kari hops into Yunomi's hand easily, and Harriet opts to join her, although she's much heavier than the smaller Howling shinki.
Kari and Harriet look at each other. That's not an easy question. They weren't 'from' any one of the iterations of worlds that make up the Multiverse. At least not that they are aware of.
"We live in Techno Urbania." Kari finally answers. She knows better than to give out the address of the apartment though.
Yunomi Stadler     "OH yeah? Anywhere near Donny's Bagels? They have the /best/ garlic cream cheese there." Yunomi inquires with enthusiasm, reaching around and opening a pair of hard leather pouches, meant for tools, but thsese she simply clips into the leather harness around her waist sinch, in order to give the two mechanical girls somewhere they can ride and still see easily.

"I'm Yunomi, by the by. You've wandered into an Izzet construction zone. Good thing Ifound you before Nailix did -- he'd probably try to eat y ou."
Kari Wolf     The pair gladly hop into the leather pouches instead of riding on Yunomi's arm. The metal and ceramic constructs would probably get heavy after awhile anyway. They both peer out from their new perches as Yunomi leads them out of the undercity.
"Nah, Donny's Bagles is across town. Master picked our new place because there's a big farmer's market she can go to on the way home from work to pick up things to cook. She also lets us grow peppers on the balcony! Well, um... she was tired of all the pretend bunkers I was building there and said I should do something useful like gardening instead of accruing fines for littering when the wind takes away my cardboard fort." And Yunomi introduces herself!
"Nice to meet you, Miss Yunomi!" Kari says.
Harriet is a little quieter and more proper by comparison. "A pleasure, ma'am."
Yunomi Stadler     "Oh, You don't need to ma'am me." Yunomi replies, and she takes to the air. "Just Yunomi does fine. I'm a bit of a gardener too these days. It's nice. Peppers, and hey, you should try tomatoes too. They've got pots that you hang upside-down and the tomatoes grow /downward/. So, what do I call you two? I don't think I caught your names." Yunomi asks, and she lies over a market. A few people look up. A couple of goblins wave, and Yuomi waves back.
Kari Wolf     "I'm Kari!" the smaller green-white one says.
"I'm Harriet." says the taller white-brown one.
Kari actually notices they're flying. "This is so much better than getting blasted into space!" She says happily. Tomatoes. Definitely going to have to try growing those. Maybe save some of the seeds from those weirdly colored heirloom ones Master buys from the market. Kari hopes they're not killer tomatoes though. That would be pretty awful.
Harriet just holds on. It's only a slight difference from jumping off walls... if that difference was not landing between hurtling through the air. "Our master would probably enjoy homegrown tomatoes, Yunomi. We will have to try growing a plant. Any recommendations on a variety of tomato?"
Yunomi Stadler     "I like the Mr. Stripey variety myself -- it's kinda meaty. Romas are good, and you can't go wrong with cherry tomatoes. They're great to snack on." Yunomi replies, and as she talks, she banks left, arching over on her back so that the forces press the two to her, instead of pulling them away. She's cautious like that.

And that's when there's a BOOM. Yunomi crosses her arms over her chest to shield the two as the consussive plast throws her off her course!
Kari Wolf     Kari clings with her gauntlets to the leather pouch as there's a huge BOOM and the shockwave hits Yunomi and her drones that had been trailing the tanuki. The drones flash briefly and disappear as Kari recalls them to safety before they're knocked out of range. Harriet holds on tightly as well, though in her case a gun materializes on her back in a mount and starts tracking possible assailants.
Harriet simply asks, though highly alert. "Are we under attack?"
Yunomi Stadler     She manages a turn, her back slamming against a handy building and nearly knocking the breath out of her. She gives a wheeze of "Yes, I think so."

Down below, a trio of mages are taking aim again, the crowds parting. They wear ragged, brown clothing, like it was picked up from a battlefield. One of their eyes flash.

The tanuki reaches up, and pulls her goggles down over her eyes. Her face turns grim for a brief moment. "Hold on, girls."
Kari Wolf     Harriet's auto-tracking laser gun locks on to the mages that seem to be the source of trouble and starts firing lasers at them in rapid succession, pausing only when Yunomi is in the way or there's no clear line of traversal for the mount. This is the kind of combat Harriet was designed for, after all.
Kari ohs. "Really? Now? What jerks!" She seems upset. They were having a nice conversation with a new person! She holds on with one gauntlet and gestures with her other as her mini-machines/drones materialize with hover-tank attachments and zoom around to shoot back at the trio of mages. They're going to be a little uncoordinated since Kari is also riding around in the sky with a flying tanuki as her mode of transportation.
Yunomi Stadler     Well. That was interesting. Yunomi's HUD inside of her goggles lights up as the day goes half to pot. guildless with a grie against the Izzet weren't unusual when a new project went on -- but usually it's at the site. They must have recognized her. The tanuki feels the little dolls liven up, and when Yunomi returns fire, it's a tightly-controled and very considered action.

What it comes out as, though, is a live manifestation of highly compressed, concentrated red mana. A bolt of lightning errupting from her ingrtips down to the mages below.

The three mages scatter, trying to regroup. One ducks behind a stall, flipping over someone's hand-cart to use as cover. THe others begin to climb the walls around them.

    "DIE, IZZET SCUM!"

    "Not today!" Yunomi fires back.
Kari Wolf     Kari points at the ones climbing the walls. "Hey, they're trying to get away!" Well, probably not, but! Kari's mini-machines shoot at the trouble-making mage's fingers, trying to force the magic-slinger to release the grip on the wall!
Harriet follows suit, aiming for the fingers of the other one trying to climb the walls, the sizzling sound of laser fire adding to the ruckus that's surely going on from the lightning bolt Yunomi tossed and the crowds trying to make their escape.
Yunomi Stadler     IT felt good to be in the midst of battle again. Construction, her gardening was interesting... but this is where she felt the most at peace. The two chest-mounted Shinki cause the two mages trying the climb the walls to drop down, one giving a curse as he clitches his hand, and he takes a deep breath, exhaling a gout of flame up at the trio.

Yunomi raises a circle of protection, using it like a shield against the flames, her hands out.

"This is not how I intended my day to go!"
Kari Wolf     Kari says "We didn't mean to get lost either! Or expect somebody nice enough to help us to be attacked!" One supposes Kari is saying that they're repaying Yunomi's kindness by helping with defense. A hand waves and the drones aim for the face of the fire breathing mage before they're knocked out by the gout of flame and recalled back to Kari's slipspace. Not like it's supposed to be easy.
Harriet might be quieter and less ditzy than Kari, but she's probably a bit more mean in some respects. The rapid-fire laser aims for the fire-breather's knees. "Don't you think it's time to give up quietly?" She says clearly but not too loudly to the three guildless mages. Ah, her paint was singed and her aim fouled by the sudden burst of fire, resulting in a slight wildness to the laser fire.
Yunomi Stadler     Well. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Yunomi gives a wry smile. "I wasn't expecting to have such spirited help!" she replies cheerily. The Tanuki drops the sheild as the gout of flame ends, and she shakily starts forward -- but picks up steam.

She brings her leg up, and goes to bring her heel down on the head of the flame-spouting mage.

The two wall-climbers on the other hand, aren't quite down for the count yet.

They reach down, and as their hands glow blackish, Yunomi can /feel/ the air chill and the black mana sink into the ground.

This wasn't an attack of opportunity. This was planned.

From the street below, the pavement cracks, andbricks ly up into the face of buildings as th ground errupts, showing its hidden secret. A long dead hulk, unidentifyable now for its rotting, altered corpse. Dead yellow eyes roll loosely in sockets as the thirty-foot tall beast spreads its too-long, clawed arms and gets a mighty roar to the spires.
Kari Wolf     Kari uuuuuuhs... as a giant hulking thing emerges from the ground. "I think I need to change armor!" No no, it's not a code brown. She hops out of Yunomi's pouch and glows with light for a moment as her armor swaps out for her more heavy duty one. Then she hops onto the side of one of the walls, digging in with her augmented claws and strength, clawing her way up to one of the mages. Kari hopes Yunomi can take care of the big ugly guy with rotten eyes (rotten eyes! Ew!). In the mean-time, the little shinki sets about trying to maul one of the mages who summoned it, with her claws and blades going for the legs. Kari can certainly be vicious when she wants to be.
Harriet also decides its time to do things other than hang out in Yunomi's leather pouch. "New target acquired." She says calmly. The Mach Hare /jumps/ like a bat out of hell from the pouch, the heavy grav assist kicking in as the gun is set to auto-track on the street hulk. The beast is peppered with lasers from the small rotary cannon as it moves seemingly on its own as Harriet ricochets and leaps around the market's stalls and infrastructure.
Yunomi Stadler     "You think some shambling monster is gonna scare me? /Me/? I am /Yunomi Stadler/. I am /Izzet/." Yunomi's hands begin to crackle with lightning -- it's a good thing that the two shinki managed to get away from her pouches.

And the tanuki's ears pin back. Her eyes narrow. "And you are in /my/ part of town!"

The Izzet security drone is back, buzzing rudely and orbiting her head as the lightning crackles again, and Yunomi charges forward with a battle cry that echoes to the spires!

One of the summoning mages looks grimly up at the Shinki. "This isn't your fight, but if you're going to side with that guild, then you're gonna be pulled a/part/ by the fury!" he howls -- and then begins to panic as the doll begins to rip at his legs "OW OW OW OW QUIDDIT!"

The hulk gets a fist full of laser from Harriet, and turns to try and follow the quick-moving lapine doll as she bounces around the awnings and covers.

Yunomi meanwhile has loosened the lightning, liking the beast up.
Kari Wolf     Kari does her best to distract the guildless mage with pain. "Hey, she was helping us get back home! Then you guys started shooting fireballs or whatever!" There's another round of stabbings as Kari ascends upwards towards the torso, which seems to be a mistake since this lets the mage grab her around the torso and pull her off. Which is another mistake because Kari raises her arms and drives the blades on her forearms into the guy's hand, causing him to drop her off the wall. Well, this is going to hurt. Kari flails as she tries to catch /something/ with her arms or legs or tail to slow her fall.
Harriet was about to zoom close by to add some sword stabs to the face to the injuries already being inflicted on the brute, but then there's lightning everywhere and she catches herself on a stall pole and vaults off to one side to let Yunomi flash fry the big thing, instead managing to catch Kari mid-air. The gun is silent for a moment while it acquires a new target, which happens to be the mage that dropped Kari.
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi was able to cause some damage, keeping the bulk's focus on her while Harriet was vaulting about, keeping the massive creature's focus while the two Shinki dispatch the remaining mage.

The mage who dropped Kari seems to have lost interest in the fight, turning tail and runnign away, his hand dripping blood.

Which leaves his summoning partner. The lone woman of the group gives a steely-eyed look to the duo of shinki, and draws a long hammer from her back. As she leaps forward, the hammer crackles, burning with fire as she tries to smash the Shinki to smithereens!
Kari Wolf     Kari's reaction is to fire micro-smoke grenades into the woman as Harriet tries to get the both of them to safety, but a near miss for the shinki is still pretty bad when we're talking about people-sized weapons. The flaming hammer sends the pair clattering and rolling in different directions under the stalls of the market as it strikes too close to them for comfort.
Kari looks for something as she scrabbles away, something to really put a hurt on the angry mage now chasing them. Big people require big solutions, she's found out in her experience.
Harriet isn't quite sure what to do herself, and climbs inside pottery now that her boost system has fritzed out. She watches the mouth of the jar, both her mounted gun and little pistol pointed upwards in case an unfriendly face shows itself.
Yunomi Stadler     The woman gives a cry as the smoke grenades surprise her, and cloud her vision.

It's at that point that the little drone, beeping frantically over to Harriet. It helps her stand guard, and quietly sinks into the pottery behind her, protectively scanning.

Yunomi, meanwhile, has managed to best the beast. The dead /thing/ had its head removed, green ichor leaking out over the streets as she makes her approach behind the other angry mage, and sweeps her legs out from beneath her. Her hands crackle with electricity.

"You aren't going anywhere." she growls.

OVerhead, the sky fills with orinthrocopters and carpets, djinn and even a curious drake landing on a rooftop. The swift drake gives a hissing sound, is scales rattling threateningly.

The woman, figuring there wasn't a way out, holds up her hands.
Kari Wolf     Kari finds... a knife? A dagger? Well, something like that. She hops up onto the stall, brandishing it with both arms at the woman, only to find. "Oh, you're surrendering." Kari drops the knife onto the counter of the stall and glances at the scattered items around her, seeming to not be all that fazed by the fact that just moments ago that mage was about to smash both her sister and her into pieces. "That was pretty cool, Miss Yunomi!" Kari says excitedly.
Meanwhile, Harriet peers out of the pottery when it becomes apparent that there isn't any more fighting going on. She looks at the security drone. "Can we go home please?" She says, sounding tired.
Yunomi Stadler     Conident that the other Izzet can handle the interloper, Yunomi straightens, and limps to where Pidge was urgently beeping.

She gives a smile to Kari, and she gives a shrug. "Part of the job." she replies, and gives a small laigh.
She's a little singed, but she gives a wry smile to the mach hare. "Yes, Harriet, let's get you two home, shall we?" she questions, and breathes out as she reaches to pluck Harriet from the pottery, ofering a hand to Kari as well. "Nice choice on the knife, by the by.
