Nightblind     Ella McRae wasn't used to having nights off, but a sudden, unseasonable coldsnap in the city had sent the scum scurrying back to their holes, and on reccomendation from a good friend, she was enjoying a night out, satisfying her second vice: caffeine.

The music was live in the coffehouse, and blusey sounding. Heavy bass, but chill. The artwork on the wall was bright and poiniant, but she didn't see it. The smell of coffee, nutty and dark and warm, and the baked goods they sell, and the occasional soup or grilled cheese sandwich being served.

Ella breathes a sigh of releif, at her lonely little table against the wall.

It was nice to have a night off, she realized, her bones ached.
Terry McGinnis     Terry McGinnis arrived a second time in Stonegate, only this time, not as the Batman. As he rode his bike, he slowed and looked for this coffeehouse and found it after going slow. Stopping, he turned into the parking lot. Parking, he climbs off his bike and sets the alarm as he grabs his bag and heads inside. Looking around, he sees the people and the music and he looked around as he nodded to the door man.

"Hey man, you new here?"

"Yea, passing through and needed a good place to get some coffee and to warm up. Heard this was the place to be," and the man smiles, nodding as Terry looked around and went to the counter, ordering a coffee and paying as he stood and walked around. Looking at tables, he saw that most where not full, nor empty, and at one, a lady who sat by herself and she seemed lost or relaxed.

Terry was observant and saw a few things that others probably knew, but most probably did not. For one thing, she was wearing sunglasses, which brings to mind that ~/o I wear my sunglasses at night | So I can, So I can ... o/~ sorry, 1980s flashback... Another thing that he notices, is the cane next to her and that when she takes a drink the cup is always placed in the same spot. Her hair is short and she is attractive looking and he thinks for a moment before he approaches her.

Stoppinga t the table, he smiles, "Hello, mind if I join you?" he ask her.
Nightblind     Ah, classical music. Ella listens as a few people order. Snippits of conversation clocked away in her memory. She knows one of the folks who come here every night justby the amount of purfume she puts on, another by the smell of his cologne. She brings her cup to her lips, considering the
Ella pauses, her cup halfway to her lips as she hears the new voice -- the messenger boy? But she gives a bit fo a smile. "It's a free country, last time I checked." she replies casually. Her voice is gentle, soft, opposite of Nightblind's digital slither.

She leans back a moment in her chair, her head tilting a moment as she sets her cup down in the same place on the table. THe band takes a break, and people clap -- or snap.

    "You're a new voice."
Terry McGinnis     Terry McGinnis smiles, "Yea," he says. "Passing through, and heard they had some good coffee here. plus, needed to get warmed up as the it has gotten cool outside." he states as he claps as the song endsan listens to the next one. "Figured I would stop in, warm up and see what the place was all about," he adds as he takes a drink of his coffee, "Name is Terry, Terry McGinnis," he comments as he does not sound like BAtman.
Nightblind     "Ella." she introduces herself quietly, her lips curling into a slight smile. "Welcome to Stonegate, careful for the coldsnap. Unseasonably cold." she gives a slight laugh. "Well, you found the right coffee house if you want the best atmosphere. It's pretty relaxed." she explains.

The barista comes around, and sets another mug. "At your four o'clock." the barrista says, and Ella just gives a warm smile, accepting the new mug as her old one's cleared away.

    "... I might be a bit biased."
Terry McGinnis     Terry McGinnis chuckling, he nods, "Being biased never hurts, especially when it is a place you frequent and enjoy," he mentions as he takes a drink of his own coffee."Wish Gotham had a place like this," he mentions as he looks around the coffeehouse."Althoough one of the gangs would try to take it over, or it would be restricted to more high-end people," he adds.
Nightblind     More high-end people. Ella can feel the blood rush to her face, but was thankful that she couldn't shoot a witherling look. Instead, she gives a small shrug. "This place attracts a wide walk of life." she replies, reaching down carefully, and taking a hold of her mug. "It's not pretentious. It's honest. It's something that a lot of people in this city need."

Sip. Aah. "... and it feeds us who have a dire caffeine habit." she offers as a joke. "So, Gotham City, huh? Haven't heard of it. Is that to the North?"
Terry McGinnis     Terry McGinnis nods, "Yea, up near New York and Metropolis," he says. "Mostly, Gotham is not the best place to live, what eith the various gangs and other people there, but it is working at getting better, abit extremely slow, like honey on a cold day running downhill," he states as he looks. "A lot of places, like this usually end up getting raided or taken over due to the numerous situations there," he adds as he keeps an eye, studying her.
Nightblind     She doesn't look at him. When her face is pointed at him, it's more looks 'through' him. She leans forward as she listens, though, marking his words. His accent. Her fingers lightly move over the rim, as if keeping track of where it is before she drinks.
"You got that vigilante thing going on where you're at? Seems like every city's getting one. Wonder if there's a club." she gives a small laugh.
Terry McGinnis     Terry McGinnis nods, "Hmm, oh yea," he states. "Batman. He has done good, keeping the city safe or at least trying too," he adds as he looks at her. "But enough about Gotham, what's Stonegate like? Nice place from what I saw," he comments.
Nightblind     "Enough?" she purses her lips a moment, and she gives a shrug. "Stonegate's tech and medical. I don't really... get out much to experience more of it, not without help." she replies, embarrassed a moment. Her head dips down. "It has an opera full of talented, wonderful musicians. Galleries of art, the museum of natural history has one day a month where you can come in and touch dinosaur bones and casts if you're ... challenged. Our city orchestra recently released a collection of best-loved classical music for children?" she thinks. "I... really don't get out much." she admits quietly.
Terry McGinnis     Terry McGinnis blinks as he sets his cup down and raises his hand to order another one,"I see," he states to her. "Well, I use to get out a lot before my job kept me busy and then college," he states to her. "But I am free for a few days..." and he stops and thinks as he looks around.

Seeing that there is a small dance floor, he stands adn walks around the table, "If you do not mind, would you care to have a dance with me?" he asks her as he offers his hand and places it next to hers.
Nightblind     She doesn't see the hand. But she feels weight on her shoulders and chest. She catches her breath, and she grips her coffee mug tighter. She can feel the warmth of his hand even though they're not touching, and she straightens up. Her fingers curl, and she draws her hand away from his.

And she gives a sad smile. "You know, five years ago I would have jumped at the chance to dance with someone who no doubt is a dashing stranger... but... I don't dance. Not anymore... besides... any guy who'd invite a blind girl to dance is probably nice enough to have someone be very jealous back home." she raises her eyebrows slightly. "I'm not that lucky."
Terry McGinnis     Terry McGinnis looks, "Sometimes, the things you need come at a time when you least expect it," he states to her. "And I do not have anyone to be jealous at me," he comments. :Being blind is not the end of the world, as you can do other things that a lot of people cannot not; your hearing is better, and you can hears things that others miss. Your sense of touch is better due to feeling things. Smell is greatly enhanced since you are able to detect things that normally are not detectable. You can taste things on a different palette that people would be jealous to have," he lists to her. "You never forget your past, just move it to not think about it. Doing that, makes you ignore that what makes you happy."

Luck is something that happens to everyone, rather they realize it or not."
Nightblind     "Are you lecturing me, McGinnis?" she inquires, her eyebrows ruefully folding. "No. My going blind isn't the end of the world. I can smell who's not wearing deoderant. I can hear one of the trumpets going too warm and blowing sharp. I can feel the warmth varying on the mug of coffee -- which, by the way, smells fantastic." she sips it. Mmm... coffeee. "However, I can't see where people are on the dance floor. I can't see where your hands are at if I trip." and she gives a slight scoff. "You must be quite good looking if you're not used to someone declining you a dance card~." she teases lightly.
Terry McGinnis     Terry McGinnis chuckles, "You have me there," he says to her. "And i myself do not think I am good looking," he adds."What I am saying, is that it is not that hard to know where things are and to just go with the flow. plu, we could dance more on the edge, where there are not many people, and I do tend to be fast on my feet, so catching you would not be a problem if you did trip. Gymnastic helped in that area," and he smiles.
Nightblind     "Yeah, let's watch the bumbling blind girl dance with the hot guy. That's my idea of a grand time in town." Ella's smile wanes slightly, and she grasps her cane a little tighter. If he grabs for her, she thinks, she'll try and trip him up. She had a panic button. Al would come running in and... she would never be able to visit her favorite coffee house again.

Damn. Why did Nightblind have to give this place away? She wasn't THAT lonely.

But instead, Ella seems to wilt a little bit, and she draws a little further away from Terry, holding her coffee in her free hand.

"I don't dance." she reiterates quietly. "It's only going to draw attention to me."
Terry McGinnis     Terry McGinnis nods, "ITs ok," he says to her as he smiles. "Are there other things you like to do perhaps?" he asks her. "Besides coffee," he says as he says lightly as he teases as he asks.
Nightblind     "... books on MP3. I play piano. I like to go sit in the sunlight on sunny days when the weather's good... oh, dear lord." she states, setting her coffee down. A look of darkness crosses her face... and she raises her coffee cup to her lips.

"... I am a very well educated cat."
Terry McGinnis     Terry McGinnis nods as he listens, "I can see," he states. "I am not so well educated," he mentions. "Well, I have a good education, working on a degree to become a physician, training in gymnastics and can hold my own in a fight. Do not know how to play any musical instruments, enjoy music on mp3s, although where I am from, it is more like mp9s," he comments as he shrugs. "Enjoy various sports, but other then that, not really good in other areas," and he shurgs.
Nightblind     "I can't." Ella replies playfully. She listens to him, and she raises her eyebrows a moment as he lists some of his interests, and then catches on the mp9 thing. "Hold up. Mp9? How deep does /your/ technological rabbit hole go?" she inquires. "So your Gotham's way ahead of Stonegate? Do you have flying cars?" she inquires. "Please say they finally managed that."
Terry McGinnis     Terry McGinnis chuckles, "For me, I am fromt he year 2041," he states. "And yea, we have hover vehicles," he mentions. "All of the police cars, the various forklifts, robots help in construction; But we still have regular vehicles. So it is more liek a technological advance city with more modern styles in buildings mixed in with old gothic styles."
Nightblind     "Ha. My dad would have loved to see that. He loved thinking about the future..." she gives a sad smile, and then a slight start. She fumbles a moment, and then gives a sigh. "That would be my ride... I apologize, Terry. I must be going. Meetings in the morning." she states. She slides out a wallet, and after fumbling in the pockets a moment she places a twenty on the table for her coffee, and then takes out a business card. It has raised bumps to the side, but the style is chic. It's gray, with dark silver metallic ink that introduces her not as Ella, but Arabella McRae, and lists a contact number and frequency.
"Look me up next time you pass through Stonegate. Maybe you can help me brush up on my dancing."
Terry McGinnis     Terry McGinnis nods adn accepts the card and stands, pulling the chair out for her and smiles, "Anytime," he states to her as he looks on his person and finds a card Mr. Wayne did up for him, "Here is mine if you ever make it to Gotham City," he states as he hands it to her.
