August Kohler Alberichstadt, Germany, late afternoon.

Drachenblatt Academy is the most prestigious school in Germany, if not the world. Rich and famous children from all over the globe travel and board here for the best education money can buy. A full staff, luxurious amenities, and some of the top teaching in the world.

If only it was that simple, alas. See, the thing about schools with a lot of people of disparate backgrounds is that tension builds. And when they live together for an entire schoolyear, they end up getting into arguments, fights, and overall strife due to class, race, age, or whatever it takes. This school is no exception.

Outside the school gates, August Kohler, scholarship student, 10th grade, is swarmed by three older students, two 12th grade, one 11th. The eldest, a well-built teenager in very good shape, one of the stars of the football team, Jeremy Wellson, holds up a knapsack over August's head, tossing it from hand to hand before the kid can grab it. "You want it, Kohler? You want your bag? Five hundred dollars and it's yours!" He grins toothily as his lackeys laugh, before he speaks again. "Oh, wait, you're poor! Well, keep jumping then! Come on! Get the bag!"
Hoshi Amakasu      Sometimes even the most luxurious place can feel like a prison for those who find they don't want to be there. Drachenblatt was beautiful, certainly, as high-tech and fancy as any school had any right to be. Yet it felt more like a nest of hissing and snapping vipers more than it felt like a school, sometimes. Was this really what her parents wanted for her?

In stony silence, Hoshi Amakasu made her way from Drachenblatt's flung open doors into what should have been a bueaitufl German afternoon. Dressed as she was in her old high school uniform, she stuck out incredibly amongst the people dressed in more casual wear passed by her. Yet she couldn't really find the time to care about them, for right in front of her... She remembered that boy. He was in her homeroom, opposite side of the room. They'd never spoken, but...

The Japanese girl freezes when she sees a sight that has become all too familiar. A bunch of muscle-bound morons who tried to play others for fools. A scowl crosses her face, and she grips at her messenger bag's strap tightly. For a few seconds, she considers just leaving--but with a groan, she steps forward and calls out, glaring angrilly. as she shoves her way inside their little circle. "What are you people, a bunch of animals? Or freaking children! Get out of here before I get the teachers involved!"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa knows Germany somewhat but this is not her world's Germany it's form another time even it's pretty close to her world's. Still she'd been able to take her motorcycle for a spin on certain infamous highway to really put it through it's paces the day before and she was in good spirits from how it preformed. It was interesting to pick up hard to find media in her time here and the cargo compartment on her bike was full of various odds and ends. She'd just happened to be going by the school for a brief walk, clad still in her riding leathers.

She'd been not planning to stay much longer but she noticed the school and the dispute to put it midly with the students. She took a brife moment to access the local internet and she frowned. It seemed to be one of those schools. Still she diedn't like what was going on and started making her way towards this, she was clearly an adult and seemed to be aware of just what was going on. She was getting closer but she was waiting to see how they'd react to the young lady's stepping in first.
August Kohler The bullies continue their little game up until Hoshi arrives. When she approaches and shouts at them, Jeremy sneers, before he tosses the bag onto the pavement, stomping off as his lackeys quickly stumble after him. As the bag slams into the ground, things begin to pour out of it, as August moves to grab it. He turns slightly towards Hoshi, "Danke.", before moving back to pick up the stuff that spilled out. He sighs as he notices his phone on the ground, with the screen cracked, brushing it off and putting it in the bag.

Once it is up and over his shoulder, August turns back to Hoshi. "You didn't need to get involved. I...had it handled."
Hoshi Amakasu      Hoshi made sure to keep her eyes locked on the boys--particularly Jeremy--as they finally made their way off, though she winced when she heard the crash of the backpack hitting concrete. When they were finally far enough from them as to no longer be a threat, she quickly turns with a concerned expression to help August shovel his stuff back into his bag. When he actually speaks to her, she twitches as if shocked, but eventually clears her throat to offer a quiet, "You're welcome." Once things have been fixed as best they could, she stands up straight again, brushing her hands along the sharp pressed lines in her skirt.

She raises her brow slightly when August tries to say that he had it in his control. "You didn't," she said with a small frown directed at where the jocks had disappeared to. "It's... August, yes? How long has this been happening? Isn't there a disciplinary committee you can report this to?" Lost in her concern, Hoshi hasn't noticed Kotone watching them from afar just yet.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa watches the whole thing play out she doesn't seem to be needed yet she's been watching with intrest. From how the other students were acting we have a student who appers to have got into this school on skill rather than money. She doesn't voice this but she looks over the pair with a level of concern.

"It's not weakness to get help, I know from experiance. So I take it your both all right and is that sort of thing normal around here?"

The woman int he riding leathers one looks to be Japanese and two her acceenty clearly marks her not as someone who moved from elsewhere to Germany.

The woman in the riding leathers one looks to be Japanese and two her acceenty clearly marks her not as someone who moved from elsewhere to Germany.
August Kohler "They would have gotten tired eventually. I was biding my time." August grits his teeth, staring down at his bag, as he nods to Hoshi. "Kohler, yeah. You're...Amakasu? I'd recommend you not do that again. You'll only make things hard for you." He's about to turn to leave, when she continues.

"Don't you think I've tried? The damn school isn't going to do anything, these guys have far more clout than I do. All it takes is one upset jackass to tell his dad, his dad gets upset, and waves his big fist of gold at the board until they back off. Conversely, I have nothing. They have no incentive to give me the time of day." August frowns deeper, clenching his bag. He obviously has a lot of contempt for the richer people around the school. He stops and turns to Kotone, his displeasure on his face. "It has nothing to do with weakness. Don't insinuate."

Taking a deep breath, he stops, calming his nerves. "Yeah. Kohler. I assume you're from...well, not here. Are people already starting to come here, now?"
Hoshi Amakasu      For some reason, that logic seems flawed. Hoshi is about to declare it so, but she's stopped by the clear bitterness and defeat in his voice. A wry smile comes to her face as she unconsciously tries to straighten her old uniform out again. "Kohler... Well, I don't think that's much to worry about. As it is, nobody really wants to talk to me, either. Haven't you heard them whispering about the 'creepy quiet Asian that shows off in P.E.'?" That one actually gives her a bit of pride, so much as these things could.

Whatever levity she had is gone when August explains what help the disciplinary committee had been. "So that explains it. This isn't the first time I've spoken up, but nothing's ever done." She shakes her head while pinching the bridge of her nose. "Damn this school."

Kotone's appearance gave Hoshi a small shock, but the sight of another Japanese face--even one with blue hair--was a comforting one that brought a small smile to her face. "Oh--I didn't notice you there. That's... Well, actively picking on people isn't as common. Most of it is lies and rumors made to annoy people. The rest..." She shakes her head and takes a quick breath. "I think we'll be fine, ma'am." Glancing back to Kohler, she raises her eyebrow hopefully. "Right? They won't do something dumb like wait for you somewhere?"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "I apologise then still it's not easy to deal with something like that. I had to deal with something similar but it's not got a thing to do with money. You don't seem like they managed to beat you. They wouldn't last a day in the real world cut off from their parents money."

She pauses at Hoshi's comment about how she was being treated in P.E. She doesn't comment as Hoshi's look of shock gets her attention.

"Rumours can be nasty business and yes I'm not from around here. I was just spending a few days here to run a creation of mine through some speed trials. As for me I'm Kotone Yamakawa."

She gives the school a look and is currently pulling up more info on at, well more public info at the very least.
August Kohler August nods slowly, having definitely heard of Hoshi. Gossip is really easy to hear around here. "Yeah. If you're outside the mold, they talk about you. I would know, definitely." He sighs, standing up firm, now that he probably isn't leaving here. "Rumors aren't always wrong, you know..."

August shakes his head in response to Hoshi's last question, before turning and peering at Kotone. "Guten tag. Kohler. No, they're no big deal. I have much bigger things to deal with then some bullies, don't worry."
Hoshi Amakasu      Hoshi grunts sourly as she nods in agreement. "Mm. I think some of them think I'm deaf--they air their dirty secrets and rumors right next to me every morning." A dark scowl crosses her face. She'd promised that she'd stop paying attention, but recent events have made her much more alarmed by the school's idle gossip then she was before.

The topic of money made Hoshi flush a little guiltily. She, at least, had her parent's money to support her. "I'd like to say that not everyone with money is like them, but sometimes it's hard to say it." Hoshi took that moment to bow to Kotone formally. "I'm Amakasu. What prefecture are you from?" She smiles a bit. "I'm from Osaka."

There's something in what August says that makes her blink and glance over to him, tilting her head. Her gaze is suddenly much more intense as she looks him over.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa Says "You have a point, best way to make them unhappy is do well and blow past them in terms of grades. That's what I have found from back when I was in school."

She does catch the tone in August's voice too and she wonders but she doesn't pry at all it's not her place for a moment.

"I grew up on the west coast of Canada but I'm currently living in New Port City in Niihama."

There's no such prefecture in this world must be something to do with her own?
August Kohler "They don't think you're deaf. They know you can hear them." August sighs, very bitter about it, as he begins to turn. When Hoshi glances and blinks at him, he just smiles, wearily. "Stay safe." And then he heads off into the city, quickly gone into the distance.
Hoshi Amakasu      Hoshi's gaze follows August as he slips away, her lips forming into a worried frown. She reaches up to touch her chest, digging under her shirt to pull out her silver locket. For a moment, she wondered...

It was about then that she managed to break out of her daze, and she snaps her attention back to Kotone with a nervous chuckle, her face red. "S-sorry, Ms. Yamakawa. I don't think I've ever heard of Niihama. Ah... Are you going to stick around here awhile? I don't really know much about this area yet, but you can probably find a nice hotel in the city."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa watches August go and she wishes the young man well but there's not much she can do for him, right? She looked over to Hoshi now as she snaps out of it.

"It's fine it's a fiarly recent creation on my world given how young of a city New Port is as well. I'm going to be about for a little bit, I was thinking I'd need a place to crash for the night honestly if your willing to help. I'd be most thankful for it. So I take it your an exchange student?"
Hoshi Amakasu     Her mind taken by conversation with a countryman, Hoshi's dark mood begins to lighten quickly. "On your world? So... You're one of the people from outside, like they said on the news. I wasn't expecting someone from the Multiverse to come to Alberichstadt." She smiles amicably while she paws through her messenger bag to tug out her phone--likely pitiful by Kotone's standards, but it appeared to be the top of the line for this world. After tapping around on it a bit, she nods firmly. "There's a bed and breakfast in the old part of town, but there's construction right across the street... And there's a hotel downtown that's just made, but I think it's probably expensive." She offers the phone for Kotone to look over.

While she lets Kotone scan, Hoshi fidgets a little bit. "Yeah... Sort of. My parents actually moved here for my dad's work, so I guess I live here now." She coughs. "Um... Is there a lot of... weird stuff out there? My parents were having a field day when they heard about what happened with our world."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "A nice quiet place to clear my head honestly and so they are being open about it? That's better than trying to keep it underwraps honestly."

She duid eye the phone but it wasn't considered pitiful it was conidered very awesomely retro as she eyed it over for a moment.

"I might be able to cope with the bead and breakfast and I bet the owners would be happy to have someone there while things were going on over there."

She takes the phone and starts looking it over.

"To put it midly yes there is quite abit but it depends on how you see the world."
Hoshi Amakasu     The kendo girl tilts her head, an amused look on her face. "A nice quiet place? I think you're in the wrong part of Germany for that." She shrugs. "Half of the people who live here are really rich. Even if we tried to hide it, they'd probably find out anyway. My dad says it could make a fortune to score a trading contract, whatever that means."

When Kotone confirms her suspicions, she nods slowly. "I guess so. The main reason I asked..." She glances down at her locket again for a moment, before sighing and shaking her head. "Nevermind. Just, if you hear any weird rumors about mirrors finding secrets, do yourself a favor. Don't listen to them."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "Well it's far more quiet than I'm used to New Port is unsleeping as Tokyo, Berlin, New York or Bejing you know? So here is nice an quiet by my standard and there's a lot of money here and hummm rumors about mirrors and finding hidden things. I have enough on my plate without going looking for trouble, you know? As for trading I could see it there's a lot of resource hungry worlds. Ones where water or even air come at a price."

She tilted her head a bit more grinning at the other girl as she hands the phone back to her.

"Nice phone by the way, and I take it those rumors you mentioned had been pretty rampant lately?"
Hoshi Amakasu     Hoshi tilts her head and nods, condeding the point. "Okay. I'll warn you, the construction crews get started early. I hear them every morning during my run." Given that she's expressed no intrest in the mirrors, Hoshi lets the matter pass. Better that she not say too much anyway. "I'm sure my dad and the board will come up with a plan... Are you serious about air, though?" She gulps a bit, shaking her head. "That's... A little scary."

Hoshi checks the time before slipping her phone back into her bag. "Thanks. One of my old clubmates back home knows a lot about phones, so when I dropped my old one during my morning run... Heh. Nice what money can do, I guess." She smiles ruefully until Kotone brings up the mirros again. "Thankfully not as much as it could be, I guess. Still, it's a lie nobody should be tricked by." There's a rough edge to her voice until she clears her throat. "I should probably head home. I need to make sure my homework is done before my night training. Do you have a phone number, or...?"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "Tell me about it it honest is scary to think about it."

She doesn't seem to mind the idea of construction she's got a wya to handle that problem.

"I undersand abotu phones. Somethings never change Japan and other countries keep pushing the bleeding edge of technology back home."

She wonders about Hoshi and why she's so hard up about this rumour there's a hard edge to her voice that gets Kotone's attention.

"I do I'll give it to you but I don't know how they handle off world calling."

She gives Hoshi the number to contact her.

"Though training?"
Hoshi Amakasu      That's... A fair point. How WOULD they handle off-world calling? Was that even a thing? "So, wait. How do people in the Multiverse talk, anyway? Satellites? I still don't really get most of that stuff." Hoshi paws her phone back out of her bag to tap in the number before slipping it away.

he question about her training brings another sad smile to her face. "Kendo. I was invited to the All Japan Kendo Championship before we moved. Hopefully someday I can go back and be nationally ranked. So I practice every night." She never would've figured it would have been useful in OTHER ways, though.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "I don't even get how all of it works myself I just know it does. Kendo? A good sport and you won't be lacking for interesting people to duel either. Hyst watch your step I'll have to keep an eye on you, you could someone I'd never wnat to mess with. Thank you for your help again, I'm going to go get that room for the night I think."

With that Kotone heads off to her bike which might almost look like something out of a cyuberpunk movie or TV series to Hoshi and heads off.
