Xiao Li Yu      Over in Ramuh, Sector Thirteen, within the FUJIN Research Institute's building, a certain scientist was busy working within her lab as usual. As if having gotten messier than before, there were books open to random pages strewn about the area closest to the entrance, where her computer setup was, and where she was seated.

In addition, food cartons were also lying about, cleared of food and forgotton to be tossed. Someone must have been really busy. The girl herself was hard at work, fingers dancing across the keyboard like a blur, and programming jargon rapidly filling the screen in response. She'd gotten Lina's contact on the radio some time before, but apparently saw no reason to stop and clean up.

     Yep, that was Xiao.
Lina Brand     There were some things Lina would do for money but what she was thrown into wasn't. But none of that mattered now. Xiao had a couple designs ready for her view and, after a cooldown session at the local archery club, the Ranger decided it was about time to meet Xiao again. "I swear, she might want to experiment with magitek arms if she fully had her way..." she laughs lightly, shaking her head some as she walks down the hallways of Sector Thirteen.

"And... this.. door.. here. I'm coming in!" she calls out towards the (mad) scientist (of Galianda). And with this announcement, she heads into the area... and stops. The... mess.. is... real. "You might want to hire a maid one day. That Sanary girl might do you some good to clean up in here." she laughs, "But you said you had a couple designs to show me, didn't you?"
Xiao Li Yu      "Mmmrh?" Came a curious sound from the scientist as the door behind her slid open. She turned her chair slighty, swiveling in place to see who came. Though she already knew who it was from voice alone. "Hello, Miss Brand." A pause as she looked about her immediate area. "Oh. Hm. When did it get this messy, I wonder?" Someone clearly does not pay attention to things.

"Well, whatever." Someone also clearly doesn't care. Xiao shrugged dismissively and stood up from her seat, wobbling a bit before yawning openly. ...Someone also clearly didn't get any sleep. Maybe in a good while. "Designs, designs...oh right. Follow me~" The girl said in a singsong tone at the end, stepping past her computer area, over books and trash, and over to a working table. "Lets see here..." Fiddling with what looked to be some kind of small monitor at the corner of the table, she pressed a few buttons and swiped the screen with her finger a few times as well.

A blue light lit up from some manner of orb shaped device set into the center of the table and a projection started up. It was a 3D holographic projection depicting some manner of object that looked like...oh, a quiver. So she designed holographic models, rather than draw them out. Convenient.

"This is the first design I came up with. Rather normal in most aspects. It's main feature is the split compartment system." She pointed to the hologram, at the top to denote how the arrow holding compartment was split into two halves. She reached out and actually touched the hologram and spinning the top section. It spun, turning the the other side around. "You asked for a way to differentiate your normal arrows from your special arrows, yes? Well, theoretically, you could use this design to switch which compartment is in your immediate reach. I imagine by way of a button press along the side of the quiver." She pointed down to the side as she spoke.

"It's rather basic, and I suppose that splitting your quiver space into two specific halves is something to consider." She brought a hand to her chin. "Not to mention remembering which side is in your reach in the heat of battle and switching accordingly..." A glanced was spared to the Archer. "Your thoughts?"
Lina Brand     Xiao gets an odd look, "I... I do not know." she replies back, shaking her head at the obvious dismissal of the thought of a maid, but oh well, the important part comes. Following along, the Archer can't help but look around the area. Trash... trash... full soda can... trash... Ether which is promptly taken... "So a couple designs, yes? Let's see the first one." and with the holographic projection comes up, she blinks and makes an interested sound.

"Mmm, I see. It is kinda basic and yeah, in the heat of battle, knowing which side is facing which direction's going to be a pain. Might end up taking out a net arrow when you wanted a regular." she thinks a moment, looking at the design. "No feedback system? Maybe a little moogle saying what side is what... no that'd get too distracting in battle and it would ruin my Aim shots..." she taps her foot on the ground, looking at it curiously...

"I know you spent quite a bit of time on this, but I .. don't think it'll meet the needs."
Xiao Li Yu      "Right~ Next one." A button was pressed and the model breaks down before reforming into another quiver model. "This one is similar, but I've removed the dual compartment system and left a single compartment at the top for what I guess would be normal arrows." She reached out and touched the model. A compartment on the side opened out, revealing more arrows. "And in here, you could store special arrows. Both types have their own sections and aren't sharing space. With the press of a button, you can open out the special section."

She touched the model again and it closed. "It will close on it's own after a short amount of time, or you can manually prompt it to close." A hand was brought to her chin at that. "It doesn't address the problem of which type of special arrow you want in the heat of the moment, but...I thought of that in the next design, if this doesn't strike your fancy. But it is a bit radical."
Lina Brand     "You have a third?" she questioned, looking at this new one displayed, "I do like the special compartment there, unobtrusive and I won't be carrying many special arrows compared to my normal stock. Something that could carry about ten of each type, rotating." a pause, "I do like this model, looks like it could work wonderful, but yes, the whole 'special arrow in heat of moment' problem seems to be hindering this design. I do like its simplistic, nearly generic quiver design. Very nice astethics."

"I'm still interested in that third option you have, but this one right here is a good choice to use..."
Xiao Li Yu      "Alright, to the next one~"

She pressed a button and the hologram collapsed again. When it rebuilt this time, what came up was a long cylinder with arrow shafts sticking out the top. There were three compartments. Loaded shafts at the top, spare shafts in the middle in rotation, and arrow heads at the bottom.

"This one is a system that allows you to decide exactly what kind of arrow you want to use at any time, without regard for compartments." Xiao rubbed her chin a bit at that, letting the model rotate. "However, to make this work, your arrows would need to be redesigned from the ground up. Separated into shafts and heads, with heads being able to attach itself to any shaft at any time."

She pointed to the bottom. "By grasping a loaded shaft and inputting a small amount of MP, a negligable amount with a unique signature, you can tell the quiver what kind of arrow head you want, the quiver will attach the head to the shaft you're holding, and you will be able to draw it for firing." A finger was raised following that. "Additionally, once you build the arrow in the quiver, you can easily go on to preload a magic spell of your choosing into the arrow before pulling it. Or perhaps even build arrows ahead of time, load spells onto them, and keep them in wait, rather than draw them at that moment."

A shrug followed. "However, as I said, it requires an overall of your arrows, in addition to the development of the quiver system itself. The second design may be enough for your purposes as it is."
Lina Brand     With the third hologram, Lina gives a nod. She watches it get rebuilt and hmms softly, "The right arrow at the right time for just a bit of MP." she walks around the quiver hologram and hmms, "A redesign of my rune arrows? That's going to be some precise machinery. I think this might be the best way to go. If we're redesigning the quiver, then the arrows should be updated to work." she nods, watching the hologram some more, "Pre-enhanced arrows, huh? That would save me some time in actually casting."

A grin is slowly plastered onto the Archer's face, "The other archers and rangers will be jealous of this. Go ahead and go through with this one Xiao. I think I'm going to have a long night ahead of me in arrow redesign. Though, this does mean I'll have to redesign your net arrows to work with it, unless you've thought ahead on that one." a pause, "I think you have, though, if you've come up with this design."

She gives a nod of approval, "Honestly< I cannot wait to see this one in action. Of course, I'm going to be a bit slow with it but, with a new quiver, it's understandable."
Xiao Li Yu      "Mmmn, so this one? Okay then~" Xiao turned off the projecter and stretched her arms above her head before turning and ambling back over to her computer chair. After flopping back down in it, she swiveled around to look towards Lina. "As for the special arrows I made...they should be fine. I already designed those with separation of shaft and arrow head in mind."

She gestured idly as she spoke. "I'm sure you've noticed that you can unscrew the head to take it apart from the shaft. It's easier design, plus interchangable." That said, Xiao leaned back in her chair, staring up at the ceiling. "Mmn...In any case, I'll move forward on developing the third quiver design for you. I have the logic worked out. I'll just need to scrape together the parts and make it all work in practice. Par for the norm."

The scientist smirked and rested a hand against her cheek, feigning embarrassment. "But Miss Brand, you must remember, no matter how impressive my work is, you're not allowed to fall in love with me! There are...rifts separating us, you know~?" Wouldn't be a visit complete without one of those jabs thrown in, would it?
Lina Brand     Lina nods, "yes, this one. I think this will work just fine." a pause, "Actually, I haven't checked. But now that you say that, I can work on using your design for my arrows. Shouldn't take me too long to actually modify these." she gives a brief nod and hmms, "If you're in need of stuff, I can go on a hunt for them, no sense in getting this stuff for free." a pause, "Even if I'm becoming your living test bed for this stuff."

Lina raises a finger and shakes her head, "But, for all the work you do, and the gifts you so shower upon me freely, it's like you are secretly telling me that you might have some interest!" a laugh is given as she turns around, "Thanks again, let me know if I can get things for you."
Xiao Li Yu      "Oh my." Xiao brought a hand over her mouth at Lina's retort. "You figured me out!"

     Sure.

She sobered up after that, holding back a yawn before speaking further. "Mmn...I am going to need a sturdy, yet lightweight carbon fiber to construct the majority of the quiver. If you can get out there and find something that you think fits the bill, then that would be grand."

She straightened up, swiveling back to facing her computer screen. "I'll get to working on the inner bits and pieces at my leisure." And so her fingers went right back to blazing across the keyboard. "Let me know how your search goes~"
Lina Brand     Lina throws up a thumbs up at that, heading towards the door, "Lightweight carbon fiber, gotcha. Looks like I got some hunting to do then!" a grin comes to her face, "You'll be the first to know, Xiao. I promise that."
