The Kid     It certainly wasn't his usual haunt, but it would do.

The Bar and Grill had startled the Kid the first time he had stumbled across it. Going into the Distillery, only to find somewhere considerably more crowded and well-stocked had made him think he was starting to have those visions the war veterans would get sometimes.

But, after checking again, and making sure everything was too complex and well-thought-out to be a product of his mind, he accepted it. Thankfully, they still accepted Caeondian currency, despite the tender no longer being legal. Since Caelondia no longer stood and all. Must be the precious metals they're made of, he reasons.

Right now, he's sitting at the bar, halfway through his first bottle of beer. Having drinks that weren't made to make you work harder was a bit of a novelty to him, so he wanted to try a little of everything at least once.
Yowane Haku     It was a long day, a seven hour concert for a small stadium of fans... another hour of signings and finally she had some time off. Sending Kazuki off after a brief thing on the Confederate radios, Haku moves along towards her kitchen. Upon crossing the threshold, she finds herself in this strange place. The booths, the bar, the smell of food and drink.

Haku smiles, this is a place she can get used to. Moving up to the bar, a seat down from The Kid, she gives the bartender a wave over. "Hot sake please, the whole bottle. If you have that here that is. And two bottles of cold sake to go." with the bartender giving a curious eyebrow raise, he's off to get what was requested. "Ah... this.. is nice." her voice intones, eyes closed and her head canted to the side.

Silver hair drops towards the ground and she lets out a soft sigh, "Soon, I'll be at the top of the charts... Just how to do that. I got a few of Meiko's fans over today..."
The Kid     If there's one thing the Kid has become accustomed to, it's the sound of a voice heavy with the exhaustion of a long day. It was the only kind of voice you would hear up on the Rippling Walls, and it's all he's been hearing back at the Bastion. Survival is hard work, after all.

So when Haku arrives and talks, he immediately has her pegged. Bars are a place to let your barriers down a bit (because anything that might slip will be forgotten the next day), so he greets her. "Long day?" is all he asks, finishing off her beer before showing off a little trick he picked up. Balancing the empty bottle on the edge of its base, he spins it. It begins to twirl, momentum keeping it from falling over, spinning in an even circle.

"I'll have whatever she just ordered too. That sake stuff," he adds to the bartender. That's legitimately something they don't have back home, and he's curious.
Yowane Haku     Haku expected to drink in peace, to drown the day away... but that doesn't seem to be the case here. She turns around just a bit to takea look at the Kid and raises a sober eyebrow. "Just a bit." she turns back to the bar, perking only a bit as another order of sake is given. "Mm, long day for you as well?" she questions back, "It's not often I see someone want to order anything I do."

She turns back as the bartender drops a few large bottles of sake in front of Haku and a small dish, then drops a large bottle next to the Kid as well along with a small dish. Haku snags the warm one and opens it with what could be considered a practiced movement and, with a tip... the bottle's at her lips and going down the hatch.

She takes a few gulps and sets it down, letting out a small gasp of breath and a contented sigh, "This is good." she whispered, offering her arm for a credit transaction, "Thank you."
The Kid     The Kid offers a small grin back as Haku glances at him. "Long string of long days," is all he say. A shrug is given in response to her comment on his drink order. "Never heard of it, so I want to try it." Though, he kind of wishes he didn't when he sees the little dish he's expected to use. "Gotta be kidding me..." he mutters, tipping some in. No spills, but it's far from a smooth pour.

He then knocks it back, rolling it around in his mouth before swallowing it. "Hmm... texture kinda reminds me of Lifewine but... the taste is closer to Squirt Cider. Weird, but not bad." He starts to pour out another dish for himself.

"So what do you do?" he asks casually, reaching out to stop the spinning beer bottle before it topples off the bar.
Yowane Haku     "I see. It's good, if you have a taste for it." Haku mutters, downing another large swig of it. "At least you seem to have the basics of drinking it down correctly." says the one who's just upending the bottle. "Ah, I'm a singer, a musician. And just looking at you, are you some kind of adventurer?" she shakes her head, "Your outfit makes it kind of bluntly obvious."

She cracks her neck just a bit and sets the bottle down, leaning forward on the bar, resting her chest on it. "I just finished a concert earlier... just taking a break before I go back into the studio to make another melody."
The Kid     "I've been drinking a long time. You learn a few things," the Kid says as he downs his saucer. Now that he's tasted it, he seems content to just down it himself as fast as he can. "Hmm... like an idol? I heard that on the radio," he says, sounding weirdly proud of himself.

"Hm. Well, I sure do have adventures," he says with a wry laugh, filling up his dish to the brim. "But I'm... well, I was a Mason. I built things. Then I was all sorts of things, workin' with a ton of guilds. Now, I'm just tryin' to get by." His voice goes quiet at the last bit, and he downs the dish.

Looking to Haku with a serious look in his eye, he says, "Sounds like ya work hard. Makes times like these all the more valuable." Another dish is poured and he raises it. "To hard work."
Yowane Haku     "Drinking a long time, huh? Perhaps it wasn't because of being thrown away by the one who gave you voice..." she shakes her head, Haku's memories playing back and she clutches the bottle hard, shaking her head more and more. The mention of an idol snaps her out of it, giving an affirmative nod to the Kid. "Mmm, yes. I am, though, not much of one, I have not many fans."

"What got you out of masonry to the life of an adventurer?" she questions, taking a swig of the bottle again, "Wouldn't that pay more than just wandering around? Things do need to be built every once in a while whereas adventuring... you might not be working for months..."

Haku shakes her head "I do work hard, for a Vocaloid... the rest have it too easy.. and have the love of their creators. Me.. meh.." she takes a look at the Kid, the dish raised. She pours out a dish of her own and nods, tapping them together, "To hard work then, sir."
The Kid     The dishes are clinked together! Kid doesn't really catch what Haku means there, but he offers an explanation. "Back on my world, the only drinks allowed were the ones that make ya work harder. And I've been workin' since I was... seven? Somethin' like that." Another shrug, like it's no big deal.

"Some work is thankless, I hear that. But do ya like doin' it? If so, don't really matter if people don't notice. Garmuth has no senses, so all efforts equal in his eyes." A pause, as he remembers that Haku might not get what he means. "God of Purpose and Folly. Don't matter to him how important somethin' is, as long as you're doin' it for the right reasons."

It takes a while before he answers Haku's question. Ignoring the dish, he just takes a mouthful straight from the bottle. "I ain't exactly workin' for money these days. Most everythin' is gone. The Calamity happened." He's quiet for a long moment, face drawn and tight before her shakes his head. "You came here to have a good time though. Don't worry 'bout me, plans are in motion."

Vocaloid huh? To Kid, that just suggests a guild, like what Caelondia used to have, so he doesn't ask further. "So you're strugglin' in spite of having all the disadvantages. Shit, that's admirable."
Yowane Haku     Haku takes the dish to her lips and the liquid is gone quickly, setting the dish down and making a heavy sigh, "Sounds rough." she muttered, "I'd rather not have thankless work, I want to be the one in the spotlight. I want to have my name on top just like Miku and Kaito and Kamui and... ugh... everyone." she slams a fist down, which garners the attention of a few people.

"Sounds like your god of purpose has a few members then, if so, then he may have another follower." she mutters, looking at the Kid as he takes a swig from the bottle itself, eliciting a soft smile from the otherwise dour girl. "That's how you do it, by the way. To drink it without having a worry."

The Calamity is mentioned but this isn't anything of Haku's buisness, a light nod given, "Good, stick to your guns there. I hope... you get what you need." a pause is given... is she struggling? Definately. "Admirable? I guess you could call it that. You know how hard it is to make an original song that doesn't use a melody like the rest? Most people like to use my voice bank to copy other songs... and fail at it expertly... It's... depressing."
The Kid     The Kid nods sympathetically, not flinching as Haku slams the bar. "The Pantheon's wisdom makes sense... but it don't help sometimes. I get it." He runs a finger around the rim of his saucer. "But if ya just want the recognition, can't ya do somethin' else? Or somethin' extreme? Yudrig -god of Impulse and Bravery, sorry - never sticks to the same path once he finds one that works better."

He actually cracks a smile when the Vocaloid says she might follow Garmuth. "Nah, not as much these days... didn't really have a lot in the old days either. So it means a lot to hear ya say that." He looks from the bottle to the saucer and says, "Yeah, you're right. Screw it." And so the latter is pushed away, a hand firmly wrapped around the former.

Unfortunately, Kid isn't exactly musically inclined, so he shakes his head. "Can't say I do. But, if you want original? Well, the way you say it, sounds like you're the only one strugglin'. So do a song about that. It'll stand out at least."
Yowane Haku     "A lot of things don't help sometimes." she retorts, looking at the Kidwith a soft gaze, "I'm built for singing and music, not much else. I mean, Kazuki did show me how to race and put up a good brawl, but eh. I find racing the one thing I can enjoy when I'm not in the recording studio." And now a lesson on another god, how many does this person even know?!

"Really now. Perhaps he just doesn't have the /right/ followers. I may have to.. say something for him. The only religion I normally care about is sake but, I think i can make an exception." a pause, a chuckle... a weak one but still a chuckle as that bottle is grabbed, "A song about struggling, huh?" a nod and she leans back very carefully.. "Mm. Perhaps.. that might be a good way to go."
The Kid     "Wait, 'built?'" The Kid stares at Haku critically, carefully. "You... one of those robot things?" He doesn't seem put-off, just a little curious. "Wow, couldn't even tell." He shrugs, and drinks straight from the bottle. The last mouthful, and he doesn't even look tipsy. Clearly an experienced drinker.

"So you were made for singin', but ya don't seem to enjoy it. Not likin' the thing you were made for... you must have been puttin' up with this for a while." He rests his elbow on the bar, getting the beer bottle spinning again along with the sake bottle.

"Hah. Nah, it's just... in the Old World, folks were only happy to pay respects to the Pantheon when it suited 'em. If they would look nice, or when things were goin' fine. Once things got rough, they were quick to slag 'em off. They forgot, the point of the Pantheon is that they make things hard, so they're worthwhile," Kid explains. He looks like he kind of wants another drink already.

"There, see? Always new things to try. What's your name anyway? Maybe I'll look up your songs when I get some real money." He fishes into his pocket and takes out a silvery-blue coin. "These things ain't worth much these days."
Yowane Haku     Haku nods, "Built. And I prefer Vocaloid. A music based android if you want." she shrugs, "We're designed to look human. As for that? I enjoy singing. I enjoy music. I don't enjoy those who use my voice and create crap... I hate those who having loving creators... those who didn't abandon them when they were brought from a mere program to what you're looking at right now..."

Haku's face frowns, an angry fromw. "I've been putting up with being last... being thrown away even by the company who built me... only Kazuki does my repairs now, the only one to show me what everyone else has been getting for years...." she looks like she might cry, a few tears welling up, "But... I'll show them... I have a melody I want to sing for them and ... they won't like it..."

She shakes her head and sighs, looking at the Kid, "Sorry, I... it's just a sore spot, you understand right?" she takes another swig of her bottle and looks at the two other sake bottles there. "Bartender, get him another drink, okay?"

She turns to the Kid once more... "I'm Yowane Haku... I don't expect you to remember it after I leave but... thanks for asking."
The Kid     "Ah! So that's it, okay." Not a guild, that's worth knowing. He listens as she vents, most of it kind of going over his head. This is all Mancer stuff to him. But the general sentiment of feeling like people are just using her and feeling abandoned comes across just fine.

Though, when it looks like she's about to cry, he shuffles in his stool a bit. Emotional stuff like this makes him a little uncomfortable. "Sounds like - and I'm gonna bring up another god, sorry about that - you're a real daughter of Micia, goddess of Loss and Longing. Ya lost a lot, and you're wanting to things. Everyone is scared of Mother - that's what we call her - at first because she's there to welcome us when we die. But everyone reveres her in the end. I bet ya can make that happen for you as well."

Depending on what she has planned, Kid might not want to be so encouraging. But he's a little drunk and dealing with an upset girl, he just wants her to cheer up. "Hah, if there's one thing I know, it's sore spots," he says, running a hand through his white hair unconsciously. "But, no more drinks," he adds, holding up a hand to the bartender. "I usually remember things just fine with two in me. Yowane Haku, right?" He kind of mangles the pronunciation, but it's recognizable.
Yowane Haku     Haku sighs and wipes her eyes. "You could say I lost a lot..." she regains her composure and looks around, "You have goddesses and gods for everything, do you not?" it's more of an inquisitive question than anything.. "How convient that I seem to fit a few of your gods lives." she gives a bit of a chuckle and nods. "The pronounciation is off but that's okay."

She yawns slightly, "I should probably get back home. Kazuki's got maintenance plans to go through."
The Kid     "I got ten of 'em," Kid says with a grin. "And of course ya fit, everyone does. They're always there, makin' things hard so you'll appreciate it more when ya succeed. Just imagine how you'll feel once ya got what you'll deserve. You'll appreciate it more than the others, 'cause you've been workin' so hard for it."

He too, hops up from his chair and dumps some more of those coins on the bar. "I should go too. Don't want the old man and Zulf worryin'. Good talkin' to ya... Yowane?" He rolls the word in his mouth a bit more carefully, now closer to the actual pronunciation. He then smiles and gives her a wave as he strides to the door.
